  • The Eastonmade Axis makes great firewood out of less than great rounds! Follow along as we turn a pile of mixed sub par wood into perfect roadside stand campire splits! Rachel and I are rocking our ‪@mountaintopoutdoors‬ shirts as we run their favorite brand of splitter the smooth, fast, and versatile Axis! From tiny solo stove / smoker splits to nasty knotty rounds we tackle a little bit of everything in this one and end up with a great tote of firewood!

    We sure have come a long way with wood splitters. When I was 12 years old my Dad taught me how to split hard knotty maple with a 16 lb maul and 3 home made steel wedges 😟 And what ever you do “ don’t miss and hit the handle!” 😅 thanks for the video and be safe.

    • @hardworkingmanoutdoors
      @hardworkingmanoutdoors  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Kenneth, it sure has! I remember my dad having a goofy splitting axe with little pieces that kicked out to help split the wood when you’d strike it. I’m sure you had some time into those knotty Maple rounds!

    My grandfather is gone now but he told me how that he and his younger brother used to cut firewood with a crosscut saw and split for 4 dollars a cord. He said that the crosscut saw wasn't bad as long as one of them was just riding on the saw😅. He did say that it was hard work and that he had to go get a real job because he got hungry

    I have cut wood for years and wonder why you and others split it so small? I guess it's good size for a camp fire but always threw a huge log in at night so I didn't have to start a fire ,later on. Just like at night with my own stove at home. My stove can take huge pieces and never seen one that only took small wood.

    • @hardworkingmanoutdoors
      @hardworkingmanoutdoors  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      John, we sell a lot of campfire and recreational burning wood. Our customers definitely prefer smaller splits as they’re easier to handle and throw a better flame. We split a little larger for home heating wood.
