Freddie has no pretenses, practical and minimalist even. No insecurities and needs to compensate with his car. Resisting upgrading his bike to the latest and greatest every 6 months. Truly refreshing person, and content. That's why I've stuck around since the beginning.
This is the most Alan Partridge episode to date 😅. "This is the future of tents .....oxygen "
😂
Lotta shopping.
"Do you want to think about it?"
"No."
...
Freddy is the master of this sort of statement....its time for the cult of freddy to start up....who remembers Alan Wicker....

We just have to see more of Monica in future, the two of you together are absolutely hilarious.
Freddie seriously spend another £20 and get a self inflating mattress.
After a day's riding with a loaded bike you owe it to yourself to get a decent night's sleep.
A mattress will isolate you from the ground the biggest heat dump, it sucks the body heat away quickly and will make the night uncomfortable.
I have a decathlon one it was about £20 and folds down into a sack about the size of a thermos.
Buy it and thank me later 😆 🤣
This 100%
Freddie - do this, without a mattress you are inviting an uncomfortable cold night whatever the weather.
I second this. Would probably spend even more on a good mattress.
Second this 👍🏼
excellent advice
"No no, I can get some hay. Pick up some hay... somewhere." Lol!
Monika is definitely the brains of the operation 😂
You're worried about not liking camping, well the things that will put you off is definitely the cold and being uncomfortable. Get the best sleeping bag you can and a mattress. These two are a must for enjoying camping. Tent wise, get the 2 second pop up. It will be a godsend when you rock up to the camp site cold and tired and its about to rain. It is also a blackout tent. Great for not being woken at silly o clock by daylight, and keeps you cooler in the sun, win win.
More of Monika please. Its like watching a Frank Spencer episode 😂❤
"Even if we hate it, we have to go twice a year" you crack me up! Brilliant!
Freddie, I honestly just don't what to say 🤪 and Monica, only angels have that much patience and tolerance. Freddie is a lucky man/boy..😊
Tell us youre jealous without telling us youre jealous. ✌🏼
14:25 - 'Even if we hate it, we must continue camping' 😅
This is a perfect example why it is so funny watching you. Totally excited and obsessed with a tent. Freddie at his best 😂😂
You both had me in stitches there. Book an air bnb with a small garden so Monika has comfort and you have somewhere to pee in the morning and a warm up.
You cleaning a Fiat was much funnier than i expected 😂
It was a prewash😂
Freddie has Golden Retriever energy.
👏👏👏
Freddie goes Moto camping, Monica drives support Fiat 500 with all the gear in it 😁👍
I'm literally lying down and rolling with laughter. what an episode! love u guys!
I don’t often watch your videos for the comedy but this was hilarious. “This is the future of camping, oxygen”. Had me in stitches.
That was just the most hilarious episode ever! You two are a fabulous couple and you know how to celebrate your differences, which is the basis for a successful long term relationship. Can’t wait to see the final setup. At one point, we had gone from the ‘Wingman’ tarp to an eight person glamping condominium with AC and full Dining Room facilities. Love it!
Freddie you are priceless. You clearly have a problem remembering even the most basic facts and seem to have no grasp of what happened when and where. The camping is going to end in tears. Not yours but ours laughing all the way. Monica, you are a Saint!
Frank and Betty go camping...priceless😂...
Brilliant! Love the enthusiasm, then the back to reality! I cycle tour and carry a tent (one man) a sleeping bag, a thin blow up mattress (that I slide off) A blow up pillow, numerous camping gas cartridges, a stove, all my utensils, clothing, towels, matches, and swim gear. The bike does become very heavy, but I am self sufficient! A camping/yoga style mat will be needed Freddie as the earth sucks the heat from your back and you wake up very stiff! Camping is spoiled due to a poor nights sleep and if you are riding your bonnie you will need concentration! Buy a foam mat as a minimum! Great video by rhe way. xx
Love Monica's giggle behind the camera...😂😂😂❤❤❤
Freddie, my wife and I have been following your vlog for a year or so and as a long term biker and camper (getting a bit long in the tooth for it now at 69 much prefer a bed) but for those occasions when needs must take it from me a Thermo Rest camping mat is a must. If you don’t get one it will be a one time experience you will be cold and aching in the morning but with the thermo-rest you will be champing at the bit for your next weekend rally. Ps it rolls up nice and tight to pack on the bike nice and tidy
I have committed to Moto camping for 6 nights (Manx GP) for the first time in my life this year, and I'm 69, luckily a friend is loaning me a small tent, I don't expect to like it so your video resonates with me, I'm with Monica, glamping is the lowest form of camping I could really enjoy. It was hilarious watching the cost , size and weight of the gear rapidly ramping up. You two are a great team.
We toured Europe in the late 80’s, tent, 2 x sleeping bags, and a double mattress strapped to the rack with a bin bag bungied over the top! No issues and lived the dream! Wth new tents I would go with a blow up tent and connect the compressor to the bike!
One of my favourite videos - and not a motorcycle to be seen, We've all been there - a shopping trip escalating 😆
I just went motocamping for the first time on my Royal Enfield Interceptor a couple of weekends ago! I have small saddle bags on the bike, but I packed all of my camping gear into a 30L duffel bag that I strapped behind me. This included a small tent, camping blanket, camping pad (much more compact than air mattress!), stove, food, clothes etc. I didn't have a chair but all my other basic needs were met. I highly recommend looking at camp blankets, inflatable pads etc vs traditional bulky camping gear. Very cheap and laughably small/light. Either way, this was a very entertaining video and best of luck with camping to you both!
Hmmm... Ralph Loren jacket, light trousers and soft shoes - I hope Freddie's preparation for camping is better than his preparation for car washing!
No it wasn't. It was just as bad.
to be fair knowing Freddie he'll still get it done, and in style!
What a very enjoyable episode, loving the on-the-hoof research aspect of your shopping trip 🤣. It's your eye-widening enthusiasm Freddy that is so endearing - 'do you wanna have a think about it...no ! Monika, wishing you good luck👍
I have this exact big tent, as does my mate, for going to festivals. I’ve put it up in my own no problem (if you know the basics of putting tents up). Fairly easy to pack away on your own. It’s a quality tent mate, you won’t regret it!
You forgot a Trangia camping stove & cook set ,camping knife fork & spoon , to cook evening scran & full English breakfast . A good rechargeable torch come tent lamp is also handy ,for checking over bike in dark & lighting in tent .
“Checking over bike in the dark”…….really, he doesn’t even check it in daylight!!
@@neilurquhart8622Come to think of it , you have a good point there , judging by the state his Triumph was allowed to get into .
Rather have a nice AirB&B myself or a cabin but I love your boyish enthusiasm. Nice to see you Monica. Interested to see how you pack the bike. 🤔
Comedy gold this! All I was waiting for was you trying to hook up a trailer tent to the Triumph! Thank you both genuinely the charm, the energy, the enthusiasm and of course the entertainment. 😘😘
This is one of the best and most humorous videos ever! I was also so impressed with the pristine condition of your complete outfit while washing and even after. What a professional way to wash a car!
If your looking for a chair take a look at the Helinox, very light but comfortable. The video was great, couldn't stop watching and laughing - brilliant
A high quality mountain/hiking air mattress is essential to actually get some sleep- and takes up next to no space. 👍👍
Thanks!
Please do more shopping vlogs together this was hilarious 😂
Freddie you absolutely have to include an inflatable sleeping pad and pillow. Together they pack down smaller than a water bottle and for the price of $50 and 6 breaths to inflate them, you can sleep just as well as you do at home. Really hoping you and Monica start to enjoy camping, it’s my favorite thing to do with my Triumph Street Scrambler! Cheers
Highly instructive. This video should be the go-to for any aspiring campers. It illustrates the conundrum for all reluctant campers. Go large, go compact or just go home.
Freddie. There are backpacking/moto friendly equipment out there that packs down small. Chairs that pack into a tiny bag, small mattresses. Well done for getting the smaller tent. To be fair Decathlon do some decent stuff but cast your net wider. Watch some TH-cam videos of folk moto camping and you'll see
As always Monica talks so so so much sense TIME TO LISTEN FREDDIE ! Smaller tent me thinks and you can get very compact chairs these days all will fit the bike ??
Surprised you didn't go for a wingman of the road double tent. Has a mattress installed already. And a handy bike cover 👍🏼
Ah, good to see the dynamic duo back in action. Great fun 😂
Highly recommend an inflatable sleeping pad Freddie! On my backpacking trips having a sleeping pad was game changer in terms of comfort and warmth! I recommend the Nemo tensor
Totally can relate. Had the same dilemma when my wife and I were at Decathlon. Finally bought a small and practical setup. Used it 4 times in 3 years. Worth it.
Comedy gold. Man maths meet reality. Priceless! Take the fiat and tow the bike, lots of comfort!
Freddie I purchased the 2 second pop up Decathlon tent and it was transformative for bike camping. So quick & easy to erect & pack up. You don’t waste a morning or afternoon messing about with the tent. It’s in the bag and you are on the road & riding in minutes instead of hours.
Monica is getting cheeky lol she is very funny keeping you in check 😂
Freddie you should get a thin foam mat at the very least; not so much for comfort but as an insulator from the cold gorund. Nothing worse than staying awake due to coldness getting to your bones. Belive me I know.
Hi Fred, get the rattle looked at. These engines don’t have hydraulic tappety and need adjustment with shims. They also have vvt variable valve timing( I think) that helps oil get to the tappets and works off a solenoid or pulley. Does it rattle just on start up? Have you checked the oil? Needs to be towards the top of dipstick on those engines. If it rattles all the time it will be the bottom of the engine and 👎. If you don’t get it diagnosed could end up with a new head and a non economical repair. Great to see Monica supervising you, it’s defo needed😂. Tbh I wouldn’t waste money on doing wash yourself by the job you made of it. Good thing if fiat claps out you can buy Monica a suzuki jeep
Your advice will have gone right over Freddie’s head…..he will almost certainly wait until it breaks down!
"A bit more" 😂 That made me laugh, love these everyday clips or you two. Bless your heart Monika, you're an awesome lady, my wife points out things I may have missed too 😂 She's the organizer, and Im the cleaner. That's an awesome woman Freddie. Would love to see more of these type of vids, made me and wife laugh alot! 🤙 Cheers from the U.S.
This is so funny! Great entertainment. However Freddie doesn’t seem to know too much about camping considerations. The Wingman probably spoilt him a bit. Decathlon is great value for money and there is nothing wrong with their gear, but it is built to a price.
For Freddie, chat to wingman and get them to sponsor your resupply 😂 - it fits with your style.
“I don’t need to get hiking gear”- standing by the rock climbing gear 😂
Should have gone for the two seconds tent. Best decision I made camping-wise. Side note, moto camping is very popular among tourists in countries like Croatia, Italy, etc. where groups of bikers tour the coastline staying in different camp sites each nigtht. Amazing scenery, routes, food, beer in the camp site in the evening, etc.
P.S. - They make a slightly more expensive version of the 2-second tent that is for up to 4 people (2 in king comfort), is total black out inside and has a great venting and opening system. It's a total camping game-changer, and would fit your bike packed up no problem. Highly recommend if camping turns out to be something you want to continue with. 👌
A mattress is essential . You don't need a pump for many of them are self inflating . There are some good foam ones as well
We have the tent that Monica liked. The croissant. And we’ve just bought an extension for it too which gives it a similar square meterage to our Victorian terrace house. Testing it out in New Quay, Wales next week.
Great video Freddie and Monica, I would still go for a self inflating mattress otherwise you will be cold and uncomfortable. Aldi and Lidle have good ones from time e to time for approximately twenty pounds and quite good.
That was hilarious
I think if i was only doing a single night it would be a quick assembly tent, however because it is a festive and a few days the bigger tent still works and yes you can take the panniers and top box inside and you still have sleeping qtrs.
Year 1 on my own just an old sleeping bag and air cushion - not ideal
Year 2 set up on my own with missus joining later - new sleeping bag and a slightly better air cushion
Year 3 all camping gear taken in the car - same sleeping bags but took an inflatable double mattress
This year - not taking the mattress, i have bought a couple of shallow canvas portable beds, missus not going this year so will be on my own or a friend may come and they will bring most of the gear in the car
I haven't laughed this much at one of uour videos 😂😂😂 you remind me of myself when I get all excited about motorcycles and camping!
I can get some hay! 😂😂😂
Love it. 👏
Definitely go for a decent sleeping matress, mate! Thermarest and Sea to summit matresses are very good, and pack up really small, though you might have to spend a bit of money on it...
Looking forward to the camping video!
Love you work, Freddie! I've only recently discovered your channel, but I'm well and truly hooked on it now. Keep up the good work! Dan (Christchurch, New Zealand).
The two most important thing when bike camping is a mattress and good sleeping bag, Sleeping bag... Rab Ascent 700 and mattress... Sea to Summit Ultralight
Small and simple. On a motorcycle for sure. A fair size water proof tarp, some rope and imagination.....packs small and sets up anyplace with some trees around. Kick the picnic table underneath and bam, outdoor kitchen and dining/entertainment area unlocked. Of course in really bad weather it's going to need to be set up as a leen but don't forget about having a few stakes on hand as well. Then a small tent is simply the sleeping quarters.
Great video. Im looking at camping on the bike soon. Also surprised to see my local Decathlon too.
Without a proper matress, you will hate camping! A matress is a must! And you should also take a pillow. If you shop decathlon, I'd suggest the Quechua Air Comfort. Not packing too small, yes, but small enough. It's semi-self-inflating (the rest is easily done by lung), so no need for a pump, and it's ridiculus how much more comfortable sleeping gets! Get it now, thank me later! ;)
I will and have slept under open skies before but take away my sleeping pad and I’m just not having it. The ground is hard, cold, wet and literally made of tree roots, sticks and rocks. Now I always bring two pads, one foam and one inflatable by hand. Great sleep even on rocky ground. Camping without a sleeping pad is beyond daft.
The blue tent that you can stand up in is the exact tent i brought and have used at the ABR for the last 3 years, and again at the end of the month
Freddie - seems you’re full of air!!
Going to Kerry in Eire on Sunday for a week. Considered camping but now in my 60’s and due to weather we’ve recently suffered staying in a wood cabin. Good luck!!🥴🥴🫣🤞🤞
I strongly reccomend an air mat, easily inflated without a pump and makes a huge difference to comfort.
Lots available and reasonably priced
My son has the second one you looked at totally dark inside amazingly strong material aground great tent
the perfect chair is the Vango Micro chair. Took to the IOM TT last year and it is excellent.
Lol. You two are so fun. I bought a tent, a pad, a sleeping bag, some pots, a hatchet and a few other items that have been sitting in a dry bag for two years. I’m determined to use them this summer so my wife will quit making fun of me.
The one Freddie is in at 9.15 , I have it , best tent I've ever owned , up in 15 minutes flat , proper black bedroom, with a vented front porch with raised cover , coolest tent in heat I've owned too .
I have that pop up tent. The two man which is a blackout tent. It’s superb
Love the honesty in your videos - it always makes it all much more joyus, that you dont follow a written script, and dont cut everything out that doesnt go to plan. I really love your channel and watch all your videos. And no doubt that this one was not to be soon forgotten. :D Thank you both - and good luck on your new camping indentities ;)
PS get that sleeping mattres before going anywhere with tent!
Brilliant Freddie you had me laughing out loud Smashing video i cant wait for the adventure to begin at one point i could see the Bonnie getting a sidecar to put all the glamping kit into hahaha
It’s all lovely, but you need some half decent weather to go with the dream.
Oh my God, the comedy is just brilliant, Monika at least you were there to supervise the half washing of the car, I see the clock is still stuck on 19:00 since Tenerife, brillaint, I can't wait to see the trip itself, warts and all! Well done
I went for the push button tent . It's brilliant. I get why you like the bigger tent I know I wouldn't want put the thing up . You can get mats that pump up without a pump .
Having a tent you can stand up in is an absolute game changer!
Totally right always go as big as you can with a tent.
Brilliant video guys. I had tears of laughter running down my cheeks. Love how you assume there will just be hay close to wherever you pitch your tent 😂
Ok. Wait. A few things to consider:
Does your campsite have lights? If you’re camping overnight and need to go into the bushes to “shake the noodle” you might want to be able to see where you’re going. I picked up a super small package of LED night lights that run on batteries. That rolls up into a small 3 inch package. A small (pocket sized) led survival torch is a good idea too.
Are you carrying any food / drink? I’m thinking you’re at least going to want water.
Make sure you assemble the tent at home instead of “first-timing it” at the campsite.
Do you plan to sit at all? They do make super small camp chairs that fold up into nothingness. (Maybe your campsite has a picnic bench).
Pepper spray.
Power for your phone.
Me and the wife literally spent 2 hours in go outdoors looking into this only a week ago. All in our shopping list came to £1400 😂 took a step back and had to rethink. Like yourselves we are not sure if we even like camping!
My setup is a Coleman two person tent, takes about 2 minutes to setup and 5 to take down, a 0 degree mummy bag, a super light chair that collapses to a bag even smaller than the air mattress, and the major expensive item was a very thin air mattress. The mattress and bag is a game changer, really. I would sleep under a tarp if had to with my bag and the mattress, it just makes it so much more comfy. .For cooking, I have a small gas ring, that uses the small tramping gas bottles. If reduced to using this (fire bans preclude building a cooking fire for example) then this is great for boiling water for coffee and dehydrated food, and if absolutely out of options, some of my sons army MREs (three lies in one acronym) that he has given me. Hardware - a decent knife, a trenching tool, fire lighters, and a lamp. All this packs down into my panniers, a sissybar bag, and my cargo rack. If someone else wants to come, they better have their own bike 8)
I love me some Freddie Dobbs videos but this one has taken a fun turn toward the absurd. The whole time I'm sitting here shaking my head and saying no, no, no to the computer screen in a futile attempt to help stop the madness. Fortunately cooler heads prevailed in the end. Thank you Freddie and Monika. Y'all are a national treasure!
Fantastic, very funny and entertaining. You two are a great double act, when even a mundane shopping trip can give so much entertainment pleasure you really have something special. It just keeps getting better, well don guys.
Freddie is really getting into this cleaning thing... with help of course
😄.....but you really should get a self inflating mat like a thermarest. it could be the diff between a comfortable sleep and a uncomfortable sleep. The latter could turn you off altogether.
This has to be one of the best videos you have ever done……. You guys are hilarious 😂
Just upgrade a bit and get a Winnebago!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣
I agree with the lightweight camping experience but draw the line at a sleeping mat!!! My latest one blows up like an airbed and inflates using its own carrybag and packs up to nothing. Very comfy 😴
Excellent episode. Funny watching you guys trying to decide on a tent. Nice to see Monika in this video 😊. Great to hear the Fiat 500 is still going strong!
Monika is right as usual. Do get a self inflating mattress with a decent amount of insulation. The cold that comes up from the ground will get you in the early hours of the morning! And have you sorted your morning coffee? 🙂
Made my day with this video guys, it was lovely to see you guys nerd out on tents.
I miss camping, I think I'd love to do some camping on the VN8OO!
If you buy the bigger tent etc you will also have to buy & fit a sidecar to carry it all. You may end up being way too top heavy and screwing up your centre of gravity. It needs to be the small one! Can't beat camping as a couple though, great fun even if it rains.
You will need a camping mat at a minimum and don’t forget a mallet because the ground is often so hard you can’t push pegs in by hand.
Freddie this episode was hilarious, you have gone from buying everything to the basic I do feel you need a mattress or a bale of Hay 😂
Well, that was fun and all to familiar..getting carried away like in all the excitement of adventuring. Just a pity none of that camping stuff goes back into the sizes you start with.
Awesome, but I think you should have gone for more luxury with the tent. Can’t wait for the trips👍
This was a hilarious episode Freddie and Monika! 😂 If it helps I spent last year perfecting my motorcycle camping setup. Adding stuff, and taking things away, and now I think I've got a good setup for my BMW r1100r. What I found most helpful is doing some cheap one night stays closer to home to test out what works and what doesn't. I'm more than happy to share a picture or video of the contents if it helps.
You should have considered the Reactive Outdoor tent - now that is easy! Fun video....
