Anyone heading to do the NC500 I can highly recommend an 'out & back' to Reiff on the north-west coast (North of Ullapool). I can also highly recommend you stop for food at 'The Ceilidh Place' in Ullapool. I have done both many times, and they never disappoint.
Agreed, just anywhere in the north west is amazing. Anything North of Glasgow through to Durness and over to Thurso is amazing. Not doing the east coast is a good shout. Its a great area, and would be famous in its own right if in England, but it does not compare to the North West of Scotland at all.
I lost my touring buddy to cancer two months ago, age 54. We travelled together for 15 years and were some of the best times of my life. (We did all of scotland and its islands, with much wild camping). There is something special about two up touring, being able to share your stories and battle adversity together. It brings you closer than almost anything else. I shall continue on my own, it will still be amazing but very different. Trying to find a buddy that compliments your style of riding and enjoys same things as you is incredibly rare. Whilst i am sad about what has happened, we had the most wonderful times together and memories that will stay with me always. I feel very lucky to have had those 15 years with him. I watch you and danny with a tear in my eye, those happy memories flooding back. We planned to tour the world over the next ten years…we should have done more but life got in the way. You have got it so right freddie.
So sorry to hear about your good mate, its like losing a part of yourself. My mate visited the TT without me and came back paralysed from the neck down. No longer with us
I love that you don't care about wind blast. And that you ride the Bonnie further in a year than most GS's will go in a lifetime. Motorcycling at its most raw. No cruise control, no quickshifters, no cares. Respect.
Freddie, It is sixty four years since I traveled in Scotland. Strings have often tried to pull me back. But I did not go. Now you are travelling for me. Tell Scotland hello from me. Richard, in Virginia, USA.
i just want to say thanks for the positivity you bring in your videos Freddy. this channel has helped me through some really dark times. thank you and keep it up!!
I’m planning to start from Seoul, South Korea, on my motorcycle in May next year, take a ferry to Vladivostok, Russia, and then head to my final destination, Lisbon, Portugal. Along the way, I’ll visit the UK and travel through Scotland. This video has been a big help, thanks! 👍
I've just discovered your channel yesterday and been enjoying the beautiful adventures. I've owned the Long Way dvd adventure bike series featuring Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman for many years and this reminds me of it. Keep doing what you love buddy! -Memphis,Tennessee, USA
I lived in Scotland for a year and still miss it. Anyway, UK is a very beautiful country!!! Big Cheers for considering that maybe people is sleeping. I have a gsr600 and the reason i don't change the exhaust is exactly this.I can't imagine that passing from a neighbourhood and someone who needs sleep more than anyone else, an old person or a patient, will lose his sleep because of me...Big Cheers to you guys!!!
You could hold a circus in Danny's tent. Yours resembled a discarded Durex. Great film. Really like Danny's bike, especially with no chrome to polish. The Bonnie looks great too, although the tank range you quoted was a bit depressing. As you both realised, motorways are a necessary evil if you want to get anywhere and they're pretty good going north because the population gets smaller. Good luck!
🤣🏕️ This is the first time I really felt my small tank range (mainly because I was comparing directly to the big Road King’s). That Road King is a phenominal mile munching machine
@@FreddieDobbs It's a good idea to stop every two hours and stretch anyway. Helps prevent fatigue accidents on the bike. On my first 250cc Honda I did five tanks of fuel back to back once on a ride of approximately 900km. I definitely didn't wish for a bigger tank, I was scrunched up on that bike and needed to stretch!
Awesome video Freddie! Regards to Danny too! You guys together made an epic trip and inspire and motivate everyone to get out there too. Well done you both! 👍👍
Good on you, chaps… great team and very watchable ⭐️Danny is no Monika but everyone needs a Danny in their life, too! Enjoy this trip and more of the same soon, please🙏🏻
What a lovely adventure thanks for taking us viewers along! Loved the wild camping wow what a beautiful site so funny Freddie your tent lol and Dannys ha bless you both excellent video many thanks Charlotte
Love the mudguards on the Harley Davidson, the Triumph Bonneville needs a decent front mudguard, badly. I've a fender extender on my full Bonneville front mudguard and it works perfectly 👌
Great video - I love the chemistry between you both. You showed your prep for the trip, buying a tent and prepping the bike and everything and it seemed like you were proper on top of everything. Then Danny shows up with his 8 man tent and his massive Harley bagger and puts you to shame 😅
Loving the minimal packing Freddie, well done, you don't need much to have an adventure. I love Scotland, and when you get the weather theres no place better to be with the scenery they have. great video, looking forward to the next bit of the journey.
Love camping, love my Bonnie - camp after all day riding? Nope. Gotta have a little bit of comfort for me - a B&B or small hotel. The video is wonderful - real connection between you and Danny, Freddie. Would love to see you do a few more trips with him.👍
Brilliant vlog. Great team yourself and Danny. 😊 I did my version of the NC500. I left Hinckley in Leicestershire on my Triumph tiger 955i. 20yrs old 2004. Rode to Wick. 568miles. Then left Wick at 6am. Went to John O Groats then all the way around the top . Completed the Applecross pass. Then rode to Loch lomand. Stopped the night then back home. 2 1/2 days riding. Loved it. 1364 miles in total 😊
A great travels. Really enjoyed. As I am already in Scotland I am always looking for new places to visit with my 17yo son on his 125 sinnis terrian and me on my Triumph Scrambler 400x. Keep up the good work.
Been looking forward to this, it will be interesting to finally see what you think of camping. Personally I have never been interested in camping for the sake of it (going to a campsite then travelling back) but it makes more sense if it is part of a long trip like this
Just catching up with TH-cam… Matthewsons in Thornton-Le-Dale are featured on my favourite tv programme - ‘Bangers and Cash’, on the U & Yesterday channel. Great viewing. And Haltwhistle… when you opened the curtains you could see a plaque on the square in front of the Air bnb. That is - so it’s claimed - the true centre of Britain, and has information on the plaque.
Nice film Freddie 👍 The fuel flask issue is to do with altitude. If you fill it at low altitude or in low atmospheric pressure and ride into a higher altitude the contents expand, I had a similar issue in Morocco when I rode up into the High Atlas Mountains with my fuel cans. It’s worth releasing the pressure if you can, release the top slowly. It’s the same as divers ascending slowly to avoid the bends, if you ascend too quickly, any absorbed gas will come out of solution and will create issues. 👍
Really enjoy your videos Freddie. Stumbled across one of your vids about 2 weeks ago and I have watched maybe 30+ since. Truly engaging to watch. Your elegant voice and narration is superb and of course the bikes you ride. Bonnie is wonderful and my dream bike. You are giving me much inspiration to move out the city so I can safely own a bike. Looking forward to the rest of your Scotland trip too 🙏🏻👍🏼🏍️😊
Great stuff guys, oh what it is to be young and carefree, lol. Trips like this on motorbikes are the things you'll remember when you are older, great fun !
SIr I hope this message finds you and if it does then I only have one thing to say is, you are living the dream and you are my inspiration, I do have a bike (Classic 350 reborn) but I don't have the opportunity to ride it but watching you makes me feel real and good. I am from India. My name is Kunal Saxena and I am your biggest fan. Your's faithfully. Kunal Saxena
As someone who has visited Scotland before Freddie i can't believe you forgot the insect repellent, i also can't believe the weather, Scotland without rain, very unusual.
Love the dynamic here, particularly the biking skills and experience you both obviously bring. Different but complimentary. Great stuff. Shoulda taken Joe tho' for a trio! (And a mech!! ☺️)
Danny I love to hear that the split windscreen does the job..I've got the new Heritage ..stayed away from the RK to save a few pounds weight on this ageing body😅..I've considered lowers and even the vent from a GW as you said..but I hope I can get one of those..Fantastic episode Freddy..And now I've got to check out the Bionic Bikers...what an adventure .
Great video as always Freddie. Maybe I will bump into you one of these days in Scotland. Worth noting when storing petrol in a sealed canister that flashes off at ambient temps, so the canister will become pressurised. Best to open and vent it every so often.
Thanks again for sharing your adventure and it’s fun to see that part of the world , I think you would enjoy the west coast of Canada where I am, no crowds, long mountain roads, and plenty of space 😀
Awesome trip. The problem in England is that the highway and express roads network is so extensive, if you want to travel highway free, it actually might be a longer route, which kinda kills the point. Riding through France on my way to Switzerland, after being bored and exhausted by the highways, I just set up Google Maps to avoid them, and it was a game changer. It didn't take my much longer, since the route was shorter, and was actually going faster on a B roads than the speed limit suggested(unlike on the highways), plus the road was for free(no highway tolls) and the views were much much better. Ain't that easy to do it in most places in England...
Well done chaps, great video great scenery quite majestic although the midges would drive me to distraction , look forward to the next installment A joy as always

Sorry for your loss. When the time is right, jump back on the saddle and create new memories. It’s time that is most precious. Good luck and be safe.
Sorry for the loss, but it should be a lesson to us all that tomorrow is not guaranteed. live in the NOW. Ride on brothers!
Also, we never had trouble rising early in Scotland since the sun shone brightly through our windows at 4:30 a.m. on the dot.

Amazing Freddie, more trips with Danny please! Great video!! 🎉
Danny seems a great chap to travel with . He is well prepared
Hi guys...the birds in the grounds are guinea fowl a tad bigger than grouse... cheers
Ahhh thanks David🙌🏻
Nice with apple sauce

All the best too from New Zealand Trumpy tiger, John.

Great words! Cheers!
Time and again, Freddie finds the most tidy villages and beautiful scenic gems of the UK.

A great little film. Two mates, open road, exploring. Life doesn’t get any better. Thoroughly enjoyed this part of the expedition. Greta stuff 💪🏼👍🏼
Great video. Thanks for sharing. As a Scotsman it’s always a pleasure to see the welcome to Scotland sign on a long trip home.
Camping trips with bikes hits different ❤
100%
Yes they do. You get to forget about the misery of camping while riding to your next campsite.
@@kaizen2049 For sure.
As Danny went through his gear, Freddie was thinking “god I’m glad this guy’s part of the trip!”😂
Great video man, the trips you have the people you meet! Also great that you aim toward the weekend of long weekend trips, keep it up!

Absolutely top level viewing!!! 👍🏍🏍👍
It is 7:17pm here in Uganda, perfect timing, thanks Freddie.😊
Fantastic! Sending you my best in Uganda👋

In Scotland . Look forward to next instalment. Happy safe travels dude ❤
So exciting being all packed up with an adventure ahead. To me it’s proper living which is why I do it so much.

15:40 what a job by that Kawi Z to upstage both of your bikes. That is a thing of beauty!
It's always a treat to watch your film sir. Pure hardwork and sheer class ❤
Let that Guinness settle before moving the jar Freddie! Great work chaps 🇬🇧
Great video. Perfect time for a peaceful evening
Great video! Great ride with beautiful scenery. Thanks Freddie and Danny.👍😎
Love the mudguards on the Harley Davidson, the Triumph Bonneville needs a decent front mudguard, badly.
I've a fender extender on my full Bonneville front mudguard and it works perfectly 👌
Every bike needs mudguards and as far as I’m concerned the bigger the better. That Bonnie does need one quite badly.
It’s true. I wish they made a good looking full sized metal mudguard- I would buy one. I’m also considering putting the standard one back on

Great video and what a trip! The camping and rural roads reminded me of my motorcycle trip through France with my brother 10 years ago. Happy days 🙂
Delightful watch as always!
Wonderful Freddie! Who dares, wins. Just go for it and you can have an amazing adventure!

Great ride and overnight stops. Your mate has a proper hotel-sized tent there.
Beautiful HD. Love that. 👍🏼
Thanks freddie and Co. Enjoyed it all. 😃👍
The camping bit made me chuckle so much 😅. Just how a night by the campfire should be 😁🤘
Great start to the trip, hope you guys get some sun. Long old ride without Motorways. Enjoy the ride. ✌️🇬🇧🇨🇦
