  • At $100 for the mouse pad and another $100 to $150 for a compatible mouse, Logitech's Powerplay is still early-adopter tech for sure-but keeping your wireless mouse battery topped off sans wires is incredibly futuristic. In this video we'll go over our likes and dislikes of the Powerplay, as well as some quick thoughts on the G703 and G903 mice.

    the thing is, when you connect the mouse to the cable directly, it feels heavier which ultimately makes it more 'annoying' to drag the cable around as you play. especially if you use arm movement during gameplay over wrist. without the cable being directly connect, the mouse feels much lighter and easier to move.

    I have had three of these. One was a replacement by Logitech. The issue is that the Powerplay will generate EMF interference while in the charging state, as indicated by the White LED on the pad receiver. I have the G903 Mouse, G910 Keyboard, and the Powerplay. I also use a Logitech MX Master 3 and Performance MX for productivity most of the time. I noticed the mouse cursor while using any other wireless mouse like the MX Master 3 or Performance MX was jittering, and I could not control it while the Powerplay was in the charge state!
    As soon as the charge state ended or I unplugged the Powerplay, the cursor would return to normal. As soon as the Powerplay returned to the charging state, the cursor would become erratic again! I also noticed the G903 generated a jittery mouse cursor while the Powerplay was in a charged state. It was not as bad as when using the MXM3, and I could select items, but the cursor was jittering until the charge state ended.
    So Logitech sent me a replacement Powerplay, and it had the same issue! Because I use my productivity Logitech mice the most, I would unplug the Powerplay pad to prevent the problem from occurring. When I wanted to game and use the G903 mouse, I would plug the Powerplay back in.
    Fast forward a few months, and I started to play Elden Ring on PC using an Xbox controller. I noticed intermittent issues with menu control. When trying to select or scroll through a menu using the Xbox controller, I could not choose anything, and it would jump around! At first, I thought this was a new game patch issue, but it continued to occur, and then I noticed the game was jittering slightly only on the monitor I was playing Elden Ring. When this issue remained after several patches, I discovered the Powerplay was causing the problem when it was in a charge state! Like the mice, the issue would disappear once I disconnected the Powerplay USB cable or stopped charging.
    I connected the USB connection directly to my desktop and other USB ports, but the issue persists. All device Firmware and G-Hub software are up to date. I even purchased a third Powerplay pad from BestBuy, hoping Logitech may have changed something, but the issue continues even on the newest Powerplay. The Powerplay produces some EMF that impacts other wireless devices, speakers, and monitors. I am not sure how the Powerplay is affecting my monitor. Still, it is only occurring on the monitor I am playing Elden Ring on, leading me to conclude the interface is coming through the Xbox controller and maybe producing micro character movement, which looks like screen jittering on my monitor.
    I have contacted Logitech again regarding this issue. I have not seen many reviewers reporting this, but I believe this is because most owners only use a Logitech G Mouse, so they do not know the impact on other wireless devices. However, there are a few reviewers who, like me, use different wireless devices and are experiencing the same issue.
    Edit: I have noticed my Panasonic wireless home phone has had interference for some time now. This wasn't always the case, and If I move away from my desk with the Powerplay, it goes away! It occurred to me that the Powerplay might also impact this phone. Sure enough, if I unplug the Powerplay mouse pad, all my home phone interference disappears!
    There is a Powerplay Charging Enable option in the G Hub Powerplay options section that will only work with Powerplay Firmware 7.1.11. G Hub will NOT update the Powerplay Firmware through the built-in update process, and you have to do this manually to update the Fireware to 7.1.11 to enable this option! With no help from Logitech support, I think I figured out a fix.
    You have to use the Logitech POWERPLAY Wireless Charging System Update Tool under downloads for the Powerplay device to actually update the Powerplay Firmware to version 7.1.11 to get the option to disable. Powerplay Charging! You can now disable Powerplay Charging until required, and it will not impact other devices. I am still checking this works and will update later. Good luck.

    how much does the power core weigh. Is it heavy enough to substite the weight included with the G 903?

      Yes it is very similar to the weight that is removed, not exact, slightly lighter but not noticeable

    • @jayanderson6078
      @jayanderson6078 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically yes you can, but it won't charge. If you want to use your own mousepad buy the g900 and use the dongle and save yourself $100

      it actually does work for me, just got it, figured id try it out and if it does not work just send it back, it actually seems to still charge about an inch above the pad :)

    The core isn't just a magnet. It will have fine coils of wire inside to pick up the charging signal via induction. The magnets are just to hold it in place. I have been using it since Jan 2019 with the g903. Best wireless system ever. I will never go back to the old wireless systems. No more wires, ever.
    I have used expensive wireless mice from microsoft, razer, madcatz, and other brands and this mouse and charging system beats them all.

    I thought the idea of having a wireless mouse was to avoid having more cables. If you are still using a cable for the mouse pad, is it really different from just using a wired mouse? It looks like you are just changing one cable for another one. I'll just keep my G502.

    • @IonoTheFanatics
      @IonoTheFanatics 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      actually yes there's a big difference because wireless wasn't just about avoiding cables...
      it's about avoiding cables that is intrusive and inconvenient... much the same way why wireless charging technology is useful on smartphone even though you still need a cable to power the charging pad.
      the cable from the mousepad isn't really a big deal because that cable is outside your mouse movement area really... and does not hinder your mouse movement.
      the cable that is really annoying is the one normally stuck into your mouse because that's the cable that is going to hinder you when you move your mouse, hence why things like bungee cord or other 'solution' to mouse cable exist.

    • @yamilabugattas3895
      @yamilabugattas3895 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't call it intrusive or inconvenient, although I guess I see how some people can see it that way. Regarding wireless smartphone charging, that does seem useless to me. Isn't it extremely slower that just plugging it in for a few minutes with Quick Charge?

    • @IonoTheFanatics
      @IonoTheFanatics 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      it is slower... but the point with it is convenience because it allows ppl to avoid hassling with yet another cable at the end of their day when they come back from work and really... just want to relax and drop everything they have and where the slow charging makes no difference because the next time they pick it up is in the morning when they leave for work which is more than enough time to charge it.
      in this day and age when ppl can be carrying multiple device that all needs to be charged... cables become annoyance that grows exponentially the more you have.
      the same apply to devices like mouse, headset, etc... on a computer as well.
      but it is extra annoying on a mouse in particular where the movement of the mouse is more likely to be restricted by the cable... which is BAD of course since the function of the mouse depends on the freedom of it's movement to begin with.

    • @JR88
      @JR88 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well the number 1 complain with wired mouse is it drags your mouse, unless of course if you have a bungee you shouldn't have any problems, but not a lot of people have the luxury of spending money to buy that...but then again I would rather prefer g502+bungee = maybe $50 now, than g703+powerplay =$150 if mouse on sale.
      P.S. I have g303, g502, g203, g703, and I used to have this ghetto bungee that I made lol

    • @IonoTheFanatics
      @IonoTheFanatics 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      cord bungee doesn't exactly solve the issue, it just reduces it since you still have a cable dangling from your mouse
      it's less of an issue if you got a small pad footprint and needs to move the mouse for very little, but if you have a fairly big mousepad like Steelseries QcK or really any large area where your mouse operates as most of us who use low sensitivity settings do... then the only way to actually remove any force that can affect your mouse movement is by not having a cord on the mouse in the first place.

    charge 1%-2% in 1-2 hours ???? whats the point of having it tho... lols

    • @rushbcykablyat1792
      @rushbcykablyat1792 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol the point is you'll have a wireless mouse that never needs to be charged again, since power consumption is also around 1%-2% or less. So I guess it's benefit comes not from having a maximum speed in charging, but from the endurance of a charge that last forever.
      Not sure why they designed it to charge slowly, and why it will only charge up to 85-95% though. Apparently to protect the battery or something since you'll be charging 24hr daily.

    • @rushbcykablyat1792
      @rushbcykablyat1792 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gh05tH4wX No it charges even while you're using it. So you can use your mouse 24 hrs each day and still the battery % will never drop.
      Normal chargers need high speed to minimize wireless mouse downtime. Powerplay eliminates wireless mouse downtime completely. I think the other guy's confusing it to have to work and serve the same purposes of a normal charger, and thus applying the same standards of judgment towards it lol.

    This is awful! after a while static electricity will start create a multiple clicks in your mouse! the combination with G903 Lightspeed and the power play is temporary, and after more or less one year of use, you will start facing this issue with this mouse which is extremely annoying, specially if you play FPS gaming and try to hold down the aim! it wont stay, like you are clicking multiples times extremely fast without holding it! After researched a lot, and found out I was not the only one facing this issue with this combination of POWERPLAY gamepad and G903 Lightspeed! Some cases people would have been buying 3 G903 in a matter of 3 years! Finally this Genius was able to fix the issue! He said that after a while using the G903 Lightspeed, With the battery that goes inside of the mouse to keep on charging the mouse within the Gamepad, static electricity would make the buttons been activated multiple time while you are holding down the button! The solution it was to turn off the G903, and pull off the battery that comes with the POWERPLAY mouse pad out of the 903! and then click for a matter of a minute both of the buttons of the mouse to discharge the static electricity witch was accumulated on the mouse! After that, you would put the Battery sensor back inside the G903 and turn the mouse on, and then problem it was solved! The Issue is, that after a while playing, you would start having the same issue again! So it was extremely annoying to do that during the game, every one hour or so! So I had to go back to G502 until Logitech fix this issue! Many people out there have no CLUE about this issue, and they think that their G903 gets malfunction and buy a new one! Piece of Advice?! Stay away of this combination G903 Lightspeed and Logitech POWERPLAY!

    Wow, really expensive. The Logitech G602 is completely wireless, lag free, and only costs $40. It uses regular AA batteries that take seconds to change and the batteries last for months.
