@@bkm2797 Well, Dan Hartman is deceased and bands/artists see no significant financial gain from streaming either way. Management company gets the bread, TH-cam is ran by a set of algorithms that essentially "crawl" their servers and flag things and block things and control the content in a very "set it and forget it" manner.

I saw STREETS OF FIRE in the theater back in the day. This song was a huge hit and the video that played on Mtv was actually a clip of the group in the movie singing. We were all kind of shocked to find out that in reality it was a while guy singing this song and Stoney Jackson had been lip syncing in the movie. I'm sure there are people who loved the song that still don't know. Great song. Great movie.

Singer Dan Hartman is the bartender. The dudes on the television are the "group" from the movie "Streets of Fire" in which they portrayed the group singing the song. There's another video of this song with their lip synching performance. Note that one of the "group" members is Robert Townsend, from "The Five Heartbeats."

But according to what I've read, Dan Hartman stole the song and replaced the vocal tracks of Winston Ford (who sings the song as it's heard in the movie) with his own.
Both of them have since passed away, Hartman in the '90s of AIDS complications and Ford in 2007 in a single-vehicle car accident.

His voice was phenomenal, this was a great pop rock song very reminiscent of Hall and Oats.
Why can't people sing like this anymore?
Great video, one point to make with respect! Those bits where you are "sorry about that" talk to us, tell us what the music is doing, is it what you were expecting, chord changes how they change your emotions, how the lyrics get you etc etc.

One of my all-time favourite songs. It takes me back to 1984 and the girl I was madly in love with dancing in the nightclub. Beautiful memories.

Dan Hartman was also the bassist with Edgar Winter for many years....He's in the Frankenstein video with Edgar Winters Group you reviewed.

He was actually a very skilled bass player.. he wrote "free ride" (70's song in movie "dazed and confused" and was the singer too..what gets me about these reaction videos, is that most people that do them have never even heard of these songs that are legendary and constantly i repeat CONSTANTLY on the radio and MTV and vh1 growing up.. how do these people not know these songs... like what were they living under a rock for 40 years? Lol ... i saw a guy the other day do a reaction video for michael jackson beat it., the dude was like 45... i was so ashamed to even acknowledge this guy existed... the faces he made were very strange , then it all made sense...

The name of the group in the movie is "The Sorels". The movie it belongs to contained quite a few songs that were lipsynched by the actors. The singers in the movie did not sing songs. You can actually rent the movie from TH-cam.

The TV in the music video shows scenes from the movie Streets of Fire.
DH wrote Living in America + released his version. He even has the James Brown yells! 🤣
Unfortunately, Sylvester Stallone + execs chose James Brown version to place in Rocky IV. 😖
RIP Dan Hartman, 44 is too young 😭
