Jeep Cherokee Headlight Replacement

- Mistakes were made; this is how you fix the headlight on a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. This probably applies to many other makes and models as well. Just inspect and adapt.
I found this OEM Jeep Cherokee Headlight from Lake Creek Automotive on eBay.

Thanks for the video and the link, for some reason they were not showing up in my ebay search but they had a unit for sale. I fix up hurt car's for a hobby, they will total a car today for headlight damage, sometimes it costs more than the airbags. To think years ago a headlight was a $5 item.
Wow, yeah, these headlights have so much more tech in it. It was tough finding one for a reasonable price. Make sure all the tabs are there when removing it. Most I found are just broken and will rattle. This being an off-road capable vehicle, this should be a lot simpler than what it was.
Oh I'm screwed, looks like another job for a mechanic. That was alot of work.
I thought I just pop it out, pop it in and I’m done with a 3 minute video. Once I started getting in there, there was no way back. It’s not that hard it was just more than I ever expected. Watch it again and do it yourself and with the money you saved take your wife out for a nice dinner. It looks harder than it was.

Great video Daniel 👍👍👍 Your music made it relaxing, which I know it wasn't for you. I had someone lightly hit my passenger side, cracking my headlamp in the process. I bent the sheet metal straight. But had to get a new aftermarket headlamp at the time. Anyway, my 2012 Avenger process was the same. I guess in 7 years FCA couldn't find an easier way to replace a headlamp. Yes, it a job. Patience required. Take care.
BTW, it was in a parking lot. No fault. My deductable at the time was $300. Why claim it.
I’ve done headlights on the Mercedes a few years back, I’ve done Audi, VW and Ford as well. This by far is the crappiest way to do it. The bumper is tucked into the light? No wonder when people just tap someone the same bumper just hangs off. Like every other Toyota and Honda on the road today.
I was very thankful that my wife helped hold the camera with the assembly. It took 1/4 the time compared to when I do it myself. It didn’t help that it was over 100F that day. Are we getting to old for this shit? I hope not, because when things run smooth I feel… satisfied?!

Is there a bulb for the headlight? Ive heard conflicting comments (not here) saying you have to replace the entire thing if a headlight burns out.
I don’t have that car anymore but I remember when I pulled out the unit, I was surprised that everything was sealed in. Now, my Chrysler 200 which is essentially the same car, has an access panel through the wheel well to change the bulb. The Cherokee was a bit newer than my 200. So maybe somewhere between 2016 and 2021 they may have decided that we could somehow afford a $1600 headlight assembly when the lightbulb burns out.
What a pain. I’m still trying to find a diagram as searches only show the GRAND Cherokee. Trying to figure out if the headlights pattern comes from both the led(s) behind the projector lens as well as a couple multifractor sections.
Maybe check for Chrysler 200. They maybe the same as it’s technically the same car.

Not sure. There is sometime an access flap somewhere, I would imagine through the wheel well.

Longer than expected. Remember I also shoot the video which takes time to setup. I think I was there a total of 2 hours but I’m sure I could have done it in 1 hour.
Jeep made it so hard to replace those damn things. Makes no sense.
Especially on an off-road worthy vehicle. You know you gonna break stuff. Should be easy to fix.
@@Turbo_Snail 2019 Jeep Cherokee passenger side low beam not working. Dealership told me I need to replace the whole assembly. $1500 total parts and labor. Lol

I just brought a new one from mopar.. over a 1000$ just for the light and now I have to pay someone to to put it in… I’m trading this jeep in as soon as it’s fixed….
Yeah, look at my video. It’s a pain to put it in. It not impossible.
so help full video just used it to put my moms light took abt 2 hour for me😝

You skipped the part for replacing the bulbs
It came as a complete piece. No need to swap bulbs. If I remember right, I don’t even think you can replace the bulbs. You gotta get a whole piece. I may be wrong.

What you got? HID, LED, Halogen? Just search eBay, that's how I found mine. Usually the connectors are different. Can't get just the cover, it's a whole piece.
@@Turbo_Snail i have a jeep cherokee latitude 2019. For the type it’s a LED light but i can’t seem to find my headlight for it, i find the little lights for the car but not the main. And thank you for helping me
Based on my research. It can only be halogen (h11 low beam and 9005 high beam) or HID (D3S). There doesn’t seem to be an LED option from the factory. That being said, you could change it with a conversion kit from halogen to LED but I don’t recommend it.

I would recommend buying in pairs as the brightness diminishes over the years. With HID, don’t buy the cheap stuff as they are usually substandard. I’ve tested dozens of them and that’s the wrong way to save. On the halogen, I can’t seem to tell the difference between cheap and expensive other than they cheap ones burn out quicker.
