Hey guys, great job! quick ??s - do the green/purple pigtails that hook up to the speakers come with the amp unit when u buy new? do the grey and white pigtail that hookup to the stereo also come with the unit? or do I have to buy separate? I have acquired an 09 FLHT that needs sound upgrade and this is probably the best solution. Thanks
Speaker inputs to amp is the remote turn on. Remove the cig lighter remote you wont get engine noise or blow ur equipment. Good stuff tho 👍 all ur guys vids are helpful
@@chachee15 make sure positive lead has 12v check fuse battery Good ground best from battery Most aftermarket radios have 2 blue wires, make sure youre on amp/remote and not power antenna. What year make model?
@@82donut I did all those things. Where do you connect that blue amp/remote wire? I have the blue wire from radio connected to blue wire on amp and the yellow wire is going to the auxiliary power connection.
Yes thats correct. Try connect yellow and blie together on amp JUST to see if it turns on if it does then lokk for an accessorie power for the blue remote on amp
Highly advise not using a self tapping screw for the ground, they’re notorious for backing out and you’ll lose your ground. Just run it back to the battery, you’ll have it open anyways. Also you’ll want an inline fuse on the power.
The link to the speakers you have posted I bought. They will not fit into the bracket’s because the tweeter bracket sticks out on them. I noticed the power speakers you have do not have this? They are different
Thanks for the vid! Have an 08 electraglide . Speakers just started cutting in and out. I’ll shut my bike off re start and they will work for a few minutes. Any idea?
@@2MostlyBaldGuysKC thanks ! I’ve noticed when the speakers cut off, I’ll hit the CB/Intercom button and the music will start playing again lol. I’m going to see if I can bypass the CB
@@2MostlyBaldGuysKC hello why did u wire the gray wires to the wires coming from the radio? And the green and purple to the speakers? I have a after market radio would I still have to do that?
Nice video, but I have a question or two. Why do have to use speaker adapters? Cant you just mount the new speakers in the original speaker pods? Also, can you not power the amp with the power supply to the cigarette lighter? I will not have a stereo remote to deal with. Looking forward to your reply.
The original speakers are smaller than the 6.5s we put in so you have to use adapters. No the cigarette lighter power wires to small wont get enough power to turn amp on. Thanks for watching hopefully this helps
What year are you installing this on and what head unit was already in the bike. My '14 doesn't has a cage like bracket around it and it a simple 2 speaker 4.3 non touch system.
Have a question I have a road king, I have amp and the speakers, I’m trying to figure what wires and Bluetooth I need to do the install I don’t want to go to a shop like to it myself, I’ve been seeing only installs for fairings Harley
Pick up a bluetooth receiver from Crutchfield.com for $40, free shipping. Velcro it to the inside of the bag near the amp, out of the way of the power wires and use the rca pre-outs on the BT receiver to plug into the amp. Make sure you run your power wire through a switch so its not constant on and draining your battery. That's it. You don't need a shop for that. Good luck.
Thanks. We both have been running with our amps like this and have never had any problems since 2013 so I still recommend how and where we mounted the amp. It's nice because it's easy to remove if you need to work on something.
Just my opinion that really doesn't matter but the amp/head unit heat up a decent amount and I would worry about the tape loosening. Maybe some zip ties to back up the tape? Good video
Mike Hammer it could possibly but I guess we have been lucky we have been running this setup for few years with all the bikes we have done it to no problems. But yes a zip tie would be a added security
You should always run the ground back to the battery you will have issues we’re you grounded it my not be wright away but trust me you will I’ve had more bikes come to me for this problem just tying to help you out 🏁
Actually you always want the ground wire to be as short as possible. Also what Rockford Fosgate recommend. Good ground source being mandatory, not just a random bracket.
Not trying to be mean, but you are too young to be struggling for breath like that. Kick that habit before you get the news that I got. You don't want to go through what I had to endure, and I got lucky. Quit now.

Are the speakers waterproof? The link shows different speakers. How do they hold up to the weather ?
Still having issues with mine. I’m running the same amp with kicker 6.5s in the fairing. What do you have the BRT and frequency nobs set at?
Any videos on how to tap into the rear speakers from inside the fairing?
How are those fairing speakers and amp holding up?

Is that an actual ground? Wouldn't it be best to just run both right to the battery?

I wonder if they changed the speaker they are selling because that is where I got mine. I apologize. I guess after 4 years things changed

Sounds like there is a bad connection somewhere maybe the radio is protecting itself but that is the only guess I have.

This is only for the fairing speakers? So if I use the same 4 channel amp I'll do the same with the trunk speakers, as far as wiring goes?
What about the tweeter speakers? Do they run in parallel or series with front input? Or do they get connected to the rear input on the amp?

What year of bike was this installation done on.?
2013
Excellent video, thankyou.
5.25" are the harley fairing speakers
Might be a dumb question but what was the green and purple wires for thats coming out the amp?
green and purple are wires for rear speakers. They did not connect them because they only have the two front speakers.
Nice video.Does the amp run hot? How is the velcro holding up keeping the amp in place?

Good 👍
I ran my ground to the battery and its cutting out at full valume I should move it and put in real amp wires and fuse.

Where should I put ground I put it to battery but when I change Chanel on radio there is a pop noise only when I change the station! Help thanks
