    Great idea and appreciate you sharing. Having said that, do not think the toggle switch is dumb. It is simply a different solution. I would not make a post saying that not having a tender is dumb.

    Toggle switch is not "dumb". Your way causes a possible future problem with your ignition. On a Harley, a battery tender is a requirement on all newer bikes with computers, alarms, key fobs and other potential current draws. You have no experience (calling wire a cord for example) so it's understandable to be ignorant of the facts, but insulting people who know what they are doing isn't very nice.

    When ever you add any electrical accessory to a bike, use a 12 volt relay. That way when you stop and shut the bike off, your accessory also shuts off. I have all my accessories run thru relays. My driving lights, my stereo, and my heated grips all shut off automatically when the bike is shut off. And my battery doesn't run dead.

  • @djturnz
    @djturnz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I use a toggle switch because I don't want the amp pulling power while trying to start the bike, and also, I don't want the amp pulling power while I might have the key turned on without the engine running, like while working on it/ troubleshooting.
    My speakers are on the crash bar instead of the handlebars.
    Good video

    The way JT wired it is very similar to how a stereo works on a car, or on a factory installed motorcycle stereo. The system turns on when the key is turned on. It shuts off when the key is turned off. JT is doing the wiring much closer to the factory way.
    That being said, JT drop using "Gay" as an insult for something bad. You did a professional style installation, use professional language.

    Ya toggle switch is only as smart as the operator. I suggest running your accessories thru relays. My driving lights and stereo amp are run directly from the battery and triggered by other wires to have them come on with the switch. That way I never accidently leave anything running after I shut the engine off.

    • @ElTresZero
      @ElTresZero 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Can a relay be used directly with the positive from the battery with no battery draw issues or does it still need to be connected to an ignition wire? I'm getting ready to set up my system and looking for any info or advice I can find.

    • @PainterD54
      @PainterD54 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ElTresZero The Relay is just a magnetic switch that uses a trigger wire to activate the switch. It will not drain the battery. When you use a wire that comes on with your key switch, it activates the switch so it is active only when they key is on. My speaker amplifies comes on when I turn the bike on and is always on when I'm riding and always off when the bike is shut off.

    • @ElTresZero
      @ElTresZero 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! So just so im sure. I can connect the wire directly to the positive terminal? Or would it be best to tap into a different "hot" wire?

    • @PainterD54
      @PainterD54 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do yourself a favor and look up a video (or do a google search) on how to wire a four post relay. Two of the posts are the power from the battery to the item you are trying to power (in my case, my speaker amplifier) and the other two are the ground wire and the wire from the ignition wire source that powers the relay.

    So the way you have it wired the ignition switch is on running the fuel pump (providing it's fuel injected), and possibly the tail light while the bike is not running. My bike doesn't have an acc option and I like to listen to the stereo when parked. So The toggle or rocker switch may not be dumb.

      @@JT-Terryt appears that is great for your bike providing it has electronic ignition (I'm sure it does). I have several late seventies bikes that have points. The bike I will be installing the Boss on, the fuel pump primes when the key is turned on and maybe the tail light comes on, I'm not sure. For this type the toggle
      ocker switch seems best. My reason for checking videos was appearance and quality reviews. Does it sound good at 75 mph? Thanks

    • @JT-Terry
      @JT-Terry  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joe R it’s alright at 75 if you listen to classic rock. Anything with bass will blow the speakers for sure!! I’ve blown a few and switched out the stock ones to aftermarket speakers!! Witch are way better for sure!! I got them of amazon as well. They’re 3 inch speakers I would suggest getting aftermarket speakers. I paid 30$ for 2 new ones and they haven’t blown and sound way better.

    • @JT-Terry
      @JT-Terry  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mitchell Dempsey I noticed that if you wanna play anything with bass it doesn’t sound good at all and you will definitely blow a speaker like I have!! So classic R&B and classic rock goes very well and loud with the 2 speakers!! However I recently upgraded to the 4 speakers and it definitely gets loud with any kind of music!! I also upgraded the speakers so the tweater would stop blowing!!

  • @frankporter1123
    @frankporter1123 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hold up !!!!
    This is Not the Only Right Way. This is a different way. You now have to turn on your bike when you want to hear music. That means your lights will be on making a draw on the battery. So when your having a beer with the boys in the garage and want to just hear some tunes.... you have to turn on ignition It should be TOGGLE switch. Just FYI. By the way nice bike.

    • @JT-Terry
      @JT-Terry  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Frank Porter when I listen to music it’s wile I ride!! Not sitting in my garage like a dip shit using my bike as a stereo. If you use your bike as a stereo in your garage, you’re a fuckin dumb ass and should buy a real stereo for your garage!! 😂😂😂. If you use a toggle switch for your stereo you’re a fuckin idiot!!

    • @JT-Terry
      @JT-Terry  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Frank Porter and on top of that the only difference between my way and your way is YES my ignition is on and YES that would mean my lights are on!! But my stereo isn’t connected to my battery. YOURS is connected to your battery with a toggle switch... so when you turn on your stereo, YES your lights aren’t on and YES your ignition is OFF.. but as soon as you turn on your stereo you’re still making a draw on the battery cuz that’s what your stereo is connected to!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
