So, what does the local population have to say about the war in Ukraine and the Western sanctions that keep piling up? I was born in Tuva, Kizil in the late 80s and spent my childhood there so I feel like I can add some details here.
First, as it was said, Tuva is sunning place because of its nature: tayga, deserts, steppe, mountains, you name it.
Second, Tuva is culturally rich. This region belong to China until 1922, then it became an independent country called Tanu-Tuva and only in 1946 it was included into USSR officially. Tuva is rich with gold so it was the place where many Russians ran from bolsheviks after the revolution of 1917. My great grandparents were those people who ran from Stalin’s repression into this region, my great grandfather was digging gold as many of other Russians. During the soviet period, the region thrived, there were heaps of production factories and coal mining. The region wasn’t super rich but it was save, nice and comfortable to live in. After the collapse of Soviet Union, a lot of production facilities were closed, people lost jobs.
But the worst thing that happened was nationalistic fight between two different tuvinian groups. Tuvinians are not one nation, they have two different groups which differ in life style (one is more urban oriented, the other one lives in steppes like mongols), language and appearance. So they always fight with each other. And when russians were leaving the region for better work, tuvinians develop this fight into nearly a war. 90s were awful there as many of our family friends were killed. My family had to abandon flats and county houses and just ran to another part of Siberia.
Since 90s things changed, Tuva now is much safer place, where you can enjoy rich culture and beautiful nature.
Thirdly, about the drunk people. As many nothern Asian nations , tuvinians have low tolerance to alcohol. They genetically can’t stand it, becoming completely drunk after 1 glass of beer. They also don’t have a drinking traditions like eating smth in between when you drink. This two factors made a huge impact on society, so yes you may see lots of drunk people in the evenings.
However, Tuva is definitely worth visiting and definitely not as dangerous as people picture it.

Can you tell me about your people?
It sound strange for expats, but there are many people in Russia (specially in Moscow and close to it) who never travel around Russia and still believe that there are no roads, no life further then 1000 km from the capital. I'm from Vladivostok, Far East of Russia. 3 years ago have moved to Sakhalin island - it is even further East, just above Japan. And it is funny to see people's reaction when they arrive to island. Expectations VS reality shows great difference :))) Thanks to Real Reporter for the videos, You show real Russia to the world, breaking western stereotypes.

Российская власть обязана принять меры для изменения в лучшую сторону жизнь в Туве! Это должна быть широкая программа на государственном уровне. Тувинцы такие же россияне, как и всё остальные народы нашей России и имеют право на достойную жизнь. Я русский, но хочу чтобы каждый, даже маленький народ, чувствовал, что Россия - это и его дом.
В советское время там было хорошо и спокойно. Республика развивалась , строительство школ , больниц , жилья и т.д было. Советская власть очень много сделала за короткий срок , всего за 40 лет такой скачок в развитии .
Но в перестройку начался жуткий национализм , русским пришлось уехать.
Я русская, в 1990 году уехала . Хотя я там родилась , родились мои родители , но тувинцы выгоняли .
Вчера прилетел из Кызыла. Мне друг показал что в этом году четыре микрорайона сдается, дороги переклали(в этом году и в Красноярске и в Красноярском крае переклали очень много дорог. Дорожники как с цепи сорвались!!). И самое интересное что все квартиры уже скуплены, а цены на квартире в Кызыле больше чем в Красноярске. Деньги у людей есть. Правда я говорю только за Кызыл и Бий-Хей. Что там в Шаганаре происходит или дальше я хз

That was great! When I was a little kid, I collected stamps from "Tannu Tuva". My father had atlases and encyclopedias, but I could not find it on any map (this was in the 1950's). Nice to finally see the real place, that I thought was nearly a myth. Thanks for the video!

By the way, Tuva used to be an independent country DE JURE, just like neighboring Mongolia. Unfortunately for them, after World War 2 Joseph Stalin decided to include it in the USSR even without the status of one of the Soviet Socialist Republics, just as one of numerous autonomous republics, and simply let it be one of many neglected and forgotten outskirts of Mother Russia.

I've got to be honest, that Siberian Favela looked no worse than some areas in the US. There's parts of Detroit or Chicago's south burbs that look just as run down.

The Real Reporter is as much on a government salary as BBC staff. Only the state that pays him is different and, unlike the BBC, the "Real" Reporter treats facts quite selectively and carefully avoids issues that are inconvenient for Russia, e.g. he stubbornly looks for the effects of sanctions where they do not exist, and not where they exist - e.g. lack of spare parts for Boeing and Airbus aircraft, and therefore lack of service recommended by the manufacturers. So far, no plane has crashed, but one had to land in a field somewhere in Siberia.
What he failed to mention in this video is that Tuva has one of the highest percentages of men fighting in Ukraine of any region in Russia. As a result, the percentage of those who died in this war is similar and there are many recent military graves in Tuva's cemeteries, but "Real" Reporter noticed only one, and it was the grave of a guy who served in the army for 18 years, or rather was Wagner's mercenary (judging by the photos in Africa ) and they probably didn't pay him to play the guitar there.

I guess you don't really understand the point of what this guy is doing. He shows reality, he does not focus on either good or bad news. He never told that sanctions have no effect on Russia himself. The only thing he trying to say is that some things change, some of them for worse. But Russia isn't about to face an economical collapse or something. And what does lack of spare part for aircraft mean for life of average Russian? Pretty much nothing.
Why are you so salty about average Russian citizen not suffering from being alive?
@@gauss_gun "The point of what this guy is doing" is Russian soft propaganda addressed to recipients in the West. With a seemingly neutral message about the lives of ordinary Russians, that actually "nothing special is happening", he shows well-stocked stores in a video asking about sanctions - for every thinking person it is a clear message that "sanctions do not affect Russia itself", he doesn't have to say it directly. There is actually no war, only a guitarist from Tuva died "in the fighting in Ukraine" or an American veteran with PTSD living with his Russian wife in Siberia talks about the senselessness of using Western tanks and Ukrainian tactics.
So, actually, the sanctions should be ended, as well as the war, so that Russia could stay in the areas it took from Ukraine, and in 10-15 years, when it rebuilds its army, it could attack Ukraine again or some other smaller country, that can be occupied in two weeks under the pretext " "fight against Nazism" or "fight against terrorism".
Russia and its politics are a bit like the "elephant in the room" with whom the Real Reporter lives, which he has to avoid from time to time, but which he does not talk about and pretends that he is not there.
The lack of a spare part for an aircraft actually means nothing to the life of the average Russian, provided that he or his family members do not fly. But airplane parts are just an small example, and Russia has a lot of Western machines and technologies, for example in the key sector of oil and gas extraction. Every machine, even German ones, breaks down someday. The fact that Putin has to ask Kim Jong Un for a supply of artillery ammunition is no coincidence. As well as problems with fuel supplies to gas stations in some regions of Russia. Russia's growing economic dependence on China is another topic.

Я вот россиянка, но тоже хочу поблагодарить за то, что вы открываете для меня Россию)) Для меня Тыва была страшным местом из длинных тревожных статей, рассказывающих о том, как там всё плохо и беспросветно. Интересно было посмотреть на это место с другой стороны. Лишнее напоминание о том, что люди по сути везде одинаковые и хотят примерно одного и того же: жить, любить, растить детей, радоваться.

Для того чтобы реально оценить - надо там пожить. Место реально атасное. У меня мама там часто в командировках (строили ТЭЦ) и она туда постоянно упиралась ехать, особенно когда их с коллегой вечером тувимец пьяный пытался задавить на тротуаре и гонялся по дворам именно с целью задавить. Культуры и образования региону однозначно не хватает

Not to mention the genocide on the Native Indians in order to steal their land... Russia federation had a much different approach, fairer and uniting... USA has no Republics within their border!!! Everyone is forced to adopt Anglo Saxton ideology and traditions etc, Accept for a few native conservations Nobody owns a autonomous region, The Amish gave up!!! After trying multiple times, so now they are strench in small pockets all of 30 States... There's similar tribes in Russia, they get their atonomy and Republics where their languages, traditions and cultures are practiced and preserved weather you like them or not it's their right to... So rather shut up Study Russia's very old history, their mistakes(full communism) etc... Меня поражает аскетизм многих народов в нашей России. Конечно, айфоны и прочие прелести жизни - это очень весело и приятно. Но я уважаю людей способных жить в единении с природой. Ни один западник пропагандирующий "зелёную повестку" не смог бы жить так аскетично и экологично как, например, некоторые народы в России.

@@Alex_Buch Как раз таки это их выбор. В видео точно также показывали тувинцев, которые живут в городе, сидят в кафешках и т.д. Ну, и они как граждане Российской Федерации могут легко поехать и жить, и работать в любом городе России, хоть в Москве. Пример карьеры Шойгу в этом плане показателен.
@@Alex_Buch Слушайте, куча людей без проблем переехало в хорошие, развивающиеся города РФ из тех же вымирающих деревень. И многие такие деревенские нормально устроились, и ипотеку выплатили, и какую-никакую карьеру построили. Каждый гражданин РФ имеет право спокойно жить в любом городе России, хоть в Москве. Да что говорить, сама Москва в основном и состоит из вот таких "москвичей". Так что если человек не запойный алкаш, и готов работать, то сможет легко переехать в любое более комфортабельное место.
Хочу напомнить, что 99% тех, кто пишет негативные комментарии в адрес России, никакого отношения к России не имеет.
Десятки тысяч троллей трудятся в российском сегменте. Каждое такое тело имеет множество аккаунтов и в СРЕДНЕМ пишет около ПЯТИ ТЫСЯЧ коротких комментариев В СУТКИ.

По моему опыту многодневных поездок (в одиночку, на собственном автомобиле) настоящая Тыва она вне Кызыла. И именно там разнообразная, красивая природа и абсолютно нормальные, обычные, настоящие люди. Неделю назад я вернулся из своей крайней экспедиции по западу республики. Бог даст, поеду ещё.
Да так везде. Если вы приезжаете в любую Республику России, то стоит уезжать из больших городов, чтобы увидеть настоящий колорит Республики.

I was a volunteer on archeological site around 8 years ago in Tuva. Back then it was pretty much the same, organized (or not so organized) crime and corruption everywhere. Couple times there was instances of drunk people from nearby small town destroying some tents. But the scenery was enormously breathtakingly beautiful. Also we visited Sayan mountains - nature park Ergaki, if anyone has a chance to visit those places, I highly recommend Ergaki. Also don't miss the national pride of Tuvan people - throat singing, which is far more impressive than Mongolian one, try to catch some concerts in local national theater (which was founded by Maxim Munzuk and his wife Kara-kys Munzuk - Maxim played main role in Akira Kurosawa movie "Dersu Uzala").
Check out North American cities like Vancouver and San Francisco. You'll find dozens of homeless addicts in one place where in Russia you'll find 1. So much for their "rugged individualism" 😅

As for homeless people in Moscow and Saint Petersburg - it's an open secret in Russia that all of them were forced to leave to the outskirts of cities, Russian police constantly terrorizes them, it's the only reason why you don't see homeless people in bigger cities in Russia now.

Under capitalism everything comes in endless masses, whether it's the stores in the streets, the products in the shelves, or the cars on the highway. And it's also true for homeless. Capitalism=abundance and hustle and bustle. Even with things that are undesirable.

Those little boys from Tuva speak better Russian than many folks I ran into in Moscow. They must have good teachers and place a strong emphasis on Russian language there.

Great video! Kyzyl suburbs were very safe during Soviet times, my babushka lived there in a private house, I spent a few summers with her. It's also worth mentioning that Tuva's soldiers were very successful during WW2. They scared a shit out of Germans.

The pain is great but the reward of a new, just world for their chidren is also great. You did not touch on their cuisine. I'd love to see some local food favorites. Here in Benton Harbor, we have gangs, too -- though our murder rate is higher. Konstantin, you always amaze me with your adventures -- keep them coming!

When I was studying by correspondence, I lived in a dormitory with a Tuvan: an ordinary young guy, he served in the army under a contract, but in the end he quit for his studies time and moved to Moscow with his family (wife and child), since it was expensive to fly six times for three sessions at year.

Ну жизнь то и правда не сахар. Медианные доходы населения весьма скромны, а инфляция отживает их покупательную способность. Закредитованность высокая.

Every drop of water is metered and charged for. At least, we don't have problems like that in the US yet. But the prices on some consumers goods more than doubled in the last 18 months or so.
@@VALaker100my friend i am from germany and i can tell you the prices for everything increased just horrible. 250 euro per month for electricity.
@@VALaker100Where did you get that information from? Yes, things have gotten more expensive and electricity was pretty expensive in the middle of last year but the price has gone down considerably. People still use water and electricity like they used to before. It’s just bigger companies that need to become more sustainable. There‘s no comparison to living standards in Russia.

В Туве живет моя родня, я там бывала несколько раз. Тоже ни с чем таким опасным не сталкивалась, хотя меня тоже предупреждали.
Вполне возможно, что те, кто сталкивался с опасностями, из Тувы не возвращаются. Или стараются забыть об этом и не рассказывать.

Родом из Тувы, что могу сказать, в основном опасность представляют либо алкаши без тормозов которых я встречал частенько, либо ауешные гопники любых возрастов, тоже много их было, но сейчас поменьше, в деревнях ситуация обстоит и похуже и получше одновременно, но в основном, посещая республику, стоит помнить что люди там живут простые и никто особо лично тебе зла не желает. Я уехал из Тувы уже лет как 8 назад и по обстоятельствам не бываю там слишком часто, но я никогда не забываю о своей малой родине

I'm originally from Peru but living in Spain, I visited Moscow in February and spent my birthday there lol it was a shock for me because I never experienced such cold in my life but other than that fell in love with Russia and I'm planning on going back in summer if everything goes well!. saludos desde España!

Well, it's hard to beat the present US in multi culture department. The actual genocide happened a really long time ago. And USSR made a lot of things that go against any morals as well. Someone's pie is always sweeter.
Even though currently no ethnicity in RF lives in reservation and a lot of small ethnic groups still exist in RF, there was some genocide throughout the expansion of the Rus' Tsardom to the East. The surviving ethnics are just the ones who either were fine with their territory being annexed for one reason or another, never had territorial claim to the land and thus only seen Russians there as passing by, or those who surrendered after trying to fend off unwanted visitors. If I recall correctly, several tribes had their population significantly lowered/genocided when their uprisings were suppressed or if the conquering cossacks and merchants chose to support one side in a war between tribes, ultimately helping that side destroy the other.
And does every american today belong to club triple k ?
Perhaps India should fix the "caste system" or gang rapes before it even try to discuss what Americans can and can't do?
