As American who traveled to Russia last spring I can assure they live their normal lifes sanctions affected me more than Russians. Honestly I’d love to go back for sure! what a journey I had there. I`m from Poland. Have never been to Russia, but after watching this video and learning/watching other stuff about Russia even before that, i have to say a lot of the local habits of the common people are very similar in Poland. I myself come from a small polish town, where it looks very similar. People mind their own business, there is local exchange based trade, everything is very peaceful.I love watching such vids, because it shows that common people are not that different from each other. I lived in Russia for 10 months in 2022-2023 and loved it. Although I was in St. Petersburg and Moscow, most of my time living there was in a Siberian town. I found Russians to be well mannered, calm, really intelligent, funny, polite, and sincere. Some places are super modern, others super old school and 'country'. I like that it is not a 'woke' society, that they are sensible, and that the prices are more than fair....cheap even. The only thing that I personally didn't like, was typical Russian food. But, there are always places to eat out that are from other countries (Chinese, Thai, Italian etc). I would totally live there again. *Edited to add that most of the world actually did not sanction Russia or call them the "bad guys". Only about 40 countries sanctioned them. Much of the world outside of the West love and respect Russia and Russians very much.
I agree with everything but the comment about Russian food. I loved the food too and it was all homemade by my lovely fiance that with food purchased locally at the open air produce market down by the train station in Chelyabinsk. I ate like a horse and when I got back to the U.S. I weighed myself and I found out that I didn't even gain a pound!

I visited Russia in September 2023. I knew that everything is OK there, but I didn´t expect they are doing so much better than we do. What about grocery shops they are not only full of our products (100 types of german beer!), they also have their own things which are so extrimly tasty, I have to miss them badly!

We are planning to go for like 2-3 months and taste Russian living, luckily we can take our work with us. We are aiming on St.Petersburg and Moscow. It was nice to watch this video; I have been to Russia for about twenty times, first time in 2005 where i met my wife. I absolutly agree with the opinions in the video, but 2005 and 2018 (my last time) are nearly not comparable, because of the development Russia has gone through. We live in Denmark, and when I tell people about Russia, they - mostly- don't believe it's true; it's like they don't want to accept it and stop asking. I hope in my old days it will be possible to move over there, to experience some freedom, like in the old days at home.

And there is even probably no dounbt about the will to visit, but there is the issue of border passing and uncertainty of the travel costs. I think it upholds the most from traveling to Russia.
I concur with everything mentioned. I too married a Russian Lady. Currently in Moscow but i dislike any big city, so we are land-house hunting for a more rural setting. Moscovites like most Capital City populations are not as friendly, polite and courteous as the rest of the country. I've travelled from St Petersberg to Volgadonsk to Sochi and many towns-cities inbetween. The Russian countryside is beautiful. If you decide to move here, Please try to learn, at least speaking Russian. I am going through that learning curve now and as an Englishman, it's not easy but to permanently live here you must 1st pass the RVP 3 yr temporary visa which involves audio, written and conversational questions. Got my test very soon and if i pass, then at least i won't need to leave Russia every year to obtain a new Visa from Britain via the Russian Consulate. People are people no matter where you live. Some are good and friendly, some are just miserable but no Russian I've encountered hates me for being English. In fact they think I'm crazy for wanting to live in their country. 🇷🇺🇬🇧🇷🇺👍☺️

I am an American and I am always happy to see videos of people traveling through Russia. I love Russian culture and Russian people. I have many friends in the US who were originally from Russia (Including my best friend). And my wife and I have been making plans with my best friend to go visit Russia in the next 18 months.

I have always been fascinated with the world. When I was in grade school I was fascinated with American history. When I became a man, I became fascinated with more ‘ancient’ history, or rather pre-USA history. It’s so fascinating a planet to just stick to one country to which you were born. My family would love to move, but financially we can't. My wife is learning the language and teaching the children so long. We learning about the culture, history and laws as well in the mean time. If it be the Lord's will, we will move when we can.
Hell when I was in the Marines we had a Russian shop pull into Port! Our top brass was telling us not to be seen with the Russians ! We were in a bar and some of them came in, we bought each other beer and bullshited with each other, barely able to understand each other, we had a blast! They are no different than us! They just wanted to have a good time and party, which we partied with them! Never had anything about our countries came up! Great people!

I'm an American and live in the Russian city of Saratov with my Russian wife and two children. We love the town and the many wonderful people we know here. Even though our town is relatively large, it has a small town feeling. You can talk to your neighbors easily and most people are warm and friendly.

Very interesting! I think I would love the not judging part of Russian society as well. I grew up in South America and currently live in Europe. Every time I go back to South America I feel so free to just be myself and about my ideas. In the west, everybody is supposed to think between boundaries, which is what feels like always being judged on what you say and if it fits within these boundaries. I never knew that Russia has that same freedom as South America, but it does make sense that it does.
I agree, I had a Russian gf, I'm from Brazil by the way, she's in Germany now, she hates it, needs to justify herself with something always, she wanted to move here, but now? Almost impossible, Europe has their fair share of pros and cons, but if you went there without a way out... good luck...

When my wife and I were on holiday in the Maldives in November 2022, we met a wonderful young couple from Portland, USA. The guy's name was Michael and his girlfriend was Sarah. It so happened that our houses on the ocean were nearby. In our numerous conversations, I did not notice any hatred towards us, I did not notice the arrogance that the ruling elites of the United States have, they are very pleasant and adequate people, we answered them in the same way. We talked a lot, they told us about their lives, we told them about ours, one day our conversation led us to the topic of Ukraine, I said to Michael: Michael, I listened to everything you say about this conflict, and I want to tell you that you know absolutely nothing, it’s difficult for you to figure it out listening to all this nonsense that CNN and BBC are pouring into you 24/7, in order to understand this conflict you need to understand Ukrainians and Russians, know their mentality, know how we lived in Soviet times and after the collapse of the Soviet union, what role the West played after the collapse of the Soviet Union both in relation to Russia and in relation to Ukraine, there are a lot of subtleties that cannot simply be ignored, February 24, 2022 is the tip of the iceberg. We did not return to this topic again. We laughed a lot, danced, drank a little :), we just had a wonderful vacation in the company of wonderful people. We invited them to come to us in Moscow, and they invited us to theirs too. I always wanted to go as a tourist to the USA, see the places where famous films were filmed, visit different cities and communicate with the people who live there, I’m sure there are a lot of good people in the USA, in Russia we are always happy to have such people. My experiences with Russians have been that they are very honest friends. Definitely have to visit one day. Probably many of us will be moving there from Europe in 10 years for work as things change there in the right direction while the West heads for a complete moral and economic collapse.
I asked some Russia friends I play online games with, what £75k would get me in terms of housing in rural Russia, being thats what I've managed to save this last 20 years of working. Things are looking pretty rosey, for a retirement out there. I have 3 private pensions coming to me in 25 years, don't need to rely on the State pension which - most likely - will be pennies by the time it rolls around. Not too keen on paying 60p/kwh for gas and electric either! I'll take some of the 4p/kwh Russian energy, thankyou! Then theres the women....
I concur with his sentiments about the woke culture in America and why people from the west are moving to Russia. I moved to Vladivostok Russia after retiring from 41 years of service to the American government as a former Marine and Department of Defense Army employee with over 30 years being stationed overseas in various countries. I can honestly say that out of all the countries I have lived and worked at, the Russian people are the only people to have welcomed me with open arms and have helped me to navigate the In's and Outs of living in Russia with only being able to speak a little bit of Russian at the moment. The only threats to me are coming from my own country and the west with their sanctions, particularly with the banking sanctions in getting my retirement pensions into Russia. Thanks to my Russian friends, I am able to do so 😊. I have made Russia and Vladivostok my home. I love it here. I stay busy volunteering to try and give back to the Russian people a fraction of what they have given me. ❤
Not all banks are sanctioned in Russia. Look for small regional banks in your area. Can also open bank accounts in CIS countries that will send money to their affiliate branches in Russia . Can also use crypto. No issues with owning or buying property in Russia. Naturally there are laws about foreigners owning land in Russia but it's possible as I own my house and the land it's built on.

Sanctions DID work ! As for money transfer, there is no more SWIFTS wire bank transfers, The only way is crypto, which worked perfectly fine, untill last month when US forced Binance to leave Russia.. So, I personally don't know reliable and safe solution to transfer money from the States now

What about the American economy? I come from a Russian Armenian family. We’ve moved to USA Florida back in 1994 to be close to our family. I love America and the essence of the country is patriotism, love of freedom, Christian western values. However lately things have been drastically changing in the negative direction. Everything is much much more expensive, and I mean everything. It’s getting very hard for regular everyday Americans to live in America. Also let’s not forget the massive social degradation, and all of the degeneracy that’s being pushed on the public here. Russia seems to be a better place for conservative Christian Americans, because We are currently experiencing a spiritual war, and Russia is one of the biggest players in this war, a war between nations who stand with God and those who are godless. Russia definitely stands with God. I was born and raised in Russia Rostov on Don, and every one there grew at least part of their food, everyone had a plot of land or multiple plots of land which they have utilized for growing food

I've watched many videos of life in Russia over the last 6 months and... I'm jealous. To explain. i'm a 62 year old Brit living in the UK but we emigrated to Western Australia in the early 70's and lived in Forrestfield. These videos show that present day Russia is like it was in Oz in the Early 70's. By that I mean everyone trusted everyone. Everything was brutally raw but exciting (You'd die if you wandered off the beaten track carelessly) with wooden delicatessen huts along the highway in what appeared random places. Nobody judged anyone. Were all in this together. I loved it (Life takes some funny twists and turns) but I've come to realise that here in the West we really do live in the Empire of Lies. All my life I was given the impression that Russia (USSR) is the bogeyman but if the conflict in Ukraine has done anything it has lifted the veil of deceit from my eyes.

I am an American who simply thought Russian sounded really cool when I was around 17 so I started learning the language. I ended up quitting for a while but am getting back into it some years later. I really hope I can visit in the next couple years once I am done with university, I would even consider living there if given the opportunity. The furthest East I have gotten to travel is Estonia and Poland, and I know those countries are very different but I really enjoy being in the Slavic part of the world. I have always gotten along with the Russians I have met and even grew up with some in my rural American town :)

@@archarovec I met it's the closest I have been geographically, not culturally. But since it is difficult to enter Russia these days I am simply relating it to my experiences. There are a lot of Russians in Estonia, some of the bars there were almost entirely Russian. So while it is a Baltic country it is the closest exposure I've had with Russia. I was only in Tallinn though. I've also been to Latvia, but only briefly. Either way, it's leagues more enjoyable than western Europe. Far more interesting to travel in and more hospitable people. Plus from my American perspective I feel like slavic countries have more in common than differences.
I worked seven years with Russian crews and at times the only American. I was in Russia over thirty times and enjoyed each time. Any of the Russians I worked with could have been my next door neighbor and would have been and still good friends who contact me to this day.

Spent around 3 weeks over Christmas time and new year time there almost 20 years ago. Probably one of the warmest and most welcoming places Ive ever visited. Moscow was a bit iffy, still ok but the outskirts of St Petersburg, I probably was invited inside more peoples homes than I have been anywhere else. Spending the night at a friends Dacha and watching the wolves in the nearby woods in the morning was very special. Great memories of the place.

I'm from the Netherlands and seeing these Russian villages, it's almost exactly like how my father described growing up in the 1950's Netherlands. Very much farmer based villages with local trading, sometimes even without money, just goods for goods. Reminds me of a more simple life. Cool video. Much appreciated.

I happened to have a dialogue on TH-cam with a person fron a EU country. He claimed Russia was crushed by sanctions: Ladas weren't equipped with airbags or ABS, and there was no chance the Russians would manufacture them any time soon. But the most facinating part started where he said Russia slided 50 years back in terms of civilized lifestyle because McDonalds, Starbucks and original Cola were no longer there. I thought the dude was trolling but as the chat was going on I realized he was dead serious. I thank this guy because I had no idea what Starbucks was, and I haven't eaten any fast food for 10+ years now. We don't call McD or KFC a restaurant by the way.

Russia is diverse in people. There are both good and bad. In Russia there is simply a different concept of the world order, which not everyone understands. Even the Russians themselves. This is neither west nor east. It's Russia.This concept is expressed simply - every nation has a place in this world with its culture, which must develop and take only the best from others.
I was just in Russia for a few weeks and this thing they say about more freedom makes sense. If compared to US or EU. A grinding bureacracy is eating up people's freedom in these places. Slowly but surely. The war on cash and privacy is one big thing that is happening in the West. Russian banks however don't treat their customers like potential criminals. The government does not seem to hunt black market money either, unless you are taking huge amounts. That's what some small business people said. They take a little on the side and then pay taxes on the rest so it looks legitimate. I could move for sure. Vyborg was a nice place. I like to fish and go out in nature. Moscow is interesting, but I think I am more of a dacha person. I should settle in the countryside. Driving is no problem either. I took my own car from Scandinavia. No issues. Some people asked from where I come. Everybody was friendly.
You’re totally right about taxes, it’s hilarious - Russians are very libertarian and try to avoid them despite their low levels. I think this is why on paper, Russians don’t make much money. But nobody I know makes the stated minimum salary. That said, cash usage is down big time. Everyone uses their bank apps to quickly transfer money via phone number. It’s honesty great (despite the risk of government monitoring of purchases).

I spent most of the last 4 years in Russia, drove a UK registered car for the last year. Got stopped alot by traffic cops. Always showed my Irish passport before my car documents. Politely mentioning that we are not NATO members. Moscow cops can be a bit intimidating and more likely to come up with some kind of reason to 'fine' me. Spent alot of time in Kaluga, met good people, used to go to pubs & chat with locals (shout out to Rocket 🚀 Pub and Snatch Bar!) Moved to GB in April 23 and don't really like it, housing in Dublin is ridiculously expensive so now I'm moving to Spain this month. Would have stayed in Russia a few more years if the mother of my son (unplanned at least by me!) hadn't become a Banderite extremist (she was born in UA but lived in Moscow 20 years with RU nationality). She's been in Spain a few months now on her UA passport. Russians are our European cousins, Americans are not! (Although individuals must be judged on their own actions, not their government's)... We need to build business and cultural ties ASAP. I miss lots of things about Russia, especially the no nonsense, no smalltalk attitude of people. No BS talk about the weather or football, either we talk about real things or don't talk at all. I don't know if I will go back now that my son isn't there anymore and my best friend died (alcoholic relapse after years of sobriety). I have great memories that I will cherish. To any Russians that read this- not all Westerners think the same way. I used to know a dude, a Brit. He used to come to my town on business. My friends and I would show him around the city, go to pubs, invite him to our homes, we would discuss the same bands and movies in English. He liked everything very much. Not long ago he wrote to us that we are orcs, we live in a stable, we have no electricity and food, we steal toilets from Ukraine and many other things. How can it be? he was here, saw everything with his own eyes, there was a moment when we were all just dropping money for an evening at the pub, and he marveled that banking in Russia was much more technological and faster than at home. And now he's saying that we live in the forest, and there's no civilization here.

Been to Russia 18 times since 2006. It is a wonderful place. If you spend enough time there you'll connect to the Russian soul and it becomes part of you. Hard for anyone who hasn't been there to understand what that means, but it's real. I've been treated very well there. Great people, great culture. Much love and respect for my Russian friends and in laws. It is a shame our politicians try to make us hate each other when we are more similar than we are led to believe. My own family is proof Americans and Russians can get along great and thrive together.

i'm an Indian, i visited Russia in 2019 i only felt two difference, people and the country, every single humans beings i met were same as Indians who treats their guest. on the third day, we went to a village and we got 7 tea from 7 different people and lot of food, they invited us at a fire place and we had a lot of fun and the next day, one of the guy(nicolai) who invited us for a fire place/camp, he gave us a full tour of the town on his expense, they are wonderful people, we Indians never hate Russians, they are welcoming people, i think they are nicer than 95% of western people.
We had a similar episode in Turkey. A Turkish family on the shore of a small lake had a picnic with barbecue and tea. When we passed by and said hello, their grandmother asked us where we were from. When I said that we were from Russia, they literally forced us to join and did not calm down until they fed us and gave us excellent tea. Very fond memories.

Median salary in Russia is $340 after tax. You should judge prices by % of a salary, not by numbers. If you have $345, you can buy ~110 KG of chicken breasts a month. I googled median salary in US after taxes - ~$4000 a month. Then i googled average chicken breast price - 3.50 per pound. It means that median US salary could buy you 1142 pounds (520) kg of breasts. The difference is 5 times. I love reading about how good I live in Russia, and how westerners want to live here. I would love to exchange citizenship with these people, so they could make their dream come true.

America might have been relatively "peaceful" within it's borders, barring the regular firearm murders every day up and down the country. I love American down to earth curiousity when they travel. This town is actually called Pereaslavl Zalessky. It was founded by Rus colonists from the original Pereaslavl on the Dnepr. Zalessky means 'Beyond the forest' with reference to the lands in the north-east that were well protected from raids by the vast Taiga that streched all the way from beyond the Ural mountains. The church is called the cathedral of transfiguration of the savior, and is a UNESCO world heritage site, built from white stone in the classical Byzantine/Rus style. There were no quarries anywhere near these marsh lands so the stones had to be transported from far away at a very large expense, and by order of the princes directly.

It is such a joy seeing that my country can provide a good life even for people from the west. It means that we, despite all this conflicts and crisises, have not lost important elements of our country, of our society. Pepople can come and enjoy their life. It makes me happy.
I'm English and have been in Russia for 17 years. Even got Russian citizenship. Many of us foreigners feel free here. We can lead a life that makes us feel wholesome. Russia has all the important things right like immediate healthcare, cheap public transport, buying land and a dacha is cheap (compared to the West), fruit and veg are natural and taste great. People are helpful and soulful. Russis is our beacon of light in these dark times.
I live in a large city that has small town kindness between people and would feel comfortable almost any place in Russia because as the subjects of this video said, there is more personal freedom here in Russia than my native USA. I moved from northern California at the beginning of 2000 and after visiting 92 countries it was very plain to see that the US was in a downward spiral that has only accelerated. I have been more accepted here in St Petersburg than every in the US because the nature of the society here is to not judge people by any trait other than their character. It does not matter if one is any race, religion, politics, country of origin, career, or wealth, the only traits that determines whether one is embraced is character. I was successful in a wide range of activities and fields in California so I could afford to insulate myself from the extreme division and anger towards any thought or behavior but based on travel to less common tourist destination I could see the radical difference in aggression, division and hate that fills the collective west compared to regions of the world that the US targeted in its 273 wars, regime change and aggression all over the world. Dishonesty is the primary trait of US culture. It was not always that way, but since the many wars the US started in South East Asia in the 60s and then in the early 70s in the US where the middle class has been crashing ever since, when corporations and a few very wealthy people took over the policies and tools of government, the decline in quality of life has been steep and dramatic. It is not a happy or honest society. Propaganda and distortion is so intense in the US, people have gone crazy. That has filtered down to all the countries the US controls. Being in a country were people and the government is honest is a big change for Americans, Brits, Canadians etc who move here. Once you experience the genuine comradely and treatment as a valued member of the community, it is really hard to return to the US. I have only been back 5 times in 23 years and each time see an accelerating decline between visits. There are many differences, people are better educated, and more broadly educated, and FAR more cultured. It is hard to find a 10 year old who has not experienced great opera ballet visited world class museums, or drama. Those are important parts of the social and personal development in Russia. Culture is as intergrated into whole life as eating or spending summers at the family dacha that most families have regardless of their income. Most people over 20 own their home. They have no college debt or medical debt. No need for a car with excellent cheap clean safe public transport, very few debt contracts. The food is natural without chemical, or GMO, and reasonably priced. My sister still in California has 100 or more bills every month that would not exist here. She pays Concast $240 a month for slow internet and cable TV. Living in the suburbs, other than TV there is nothing else but fast food and chain grocery stores, and homeless everywhere makes ever taking a walk risky for an older retired woman.. I pay $6 a month without a contract, for 330mb/s fiber optic cable into my home, unmetered, and if I wanted 178 channels of TV I could simply pay $2 more. I do not even know anyone who watches TV because real life is right down the street or in the 600 parks in this city which has more world class leading museums than all North America combined. 230 drama theaters, 54 classical music theaters I have literally a thousand friends here and meet new interesting people every day just by walking from my city center apartment in any direction. Russian cities are farm more social and affordable to have a superior life which is not available at all for 99% of Americans. I have zero conflicts with people. I go out to clubs, rock, jazz clubs, cultural exchange events, daily or just walk in any direction and end up getting to know new people. I am older but well integrated into the entire age spectrum. Most of my friends are in the 18-40 age range, I am 74, because we share a more interests in common. The sexes get along, and genuinely like each other. There are not any of the 67 genders like in the US, you are male or female, and who who you are attracted to is your business, no one cares. Being gay is not a different class, it is simply who one happens to be attracted to so there is little or no concern to other. Most of my closest friends are women. For those who want to start a family, the services and assistance is amazing, everything is free, and long paid family leave can start in the first 3 months of pregnancy and young families are given grants to buy a larger home. Having a second child brings even more state benefits. There are 182 different cultures that make up Russia and they all get along. If someone wants to move to rural area they can get free land and they get clear title to it if they develop it in any way within a 5 year period. It is easy, fast, simple and cheap to start a new business. Without a doubt, raising a family is easier and far less expensive here compared to the US. Americans can't even imagine how free life is when you have no debt.

I went to Russia too in 2017, I went to St Petersburgs to study about the siege of Leningrad & it's very much normal there despite some of my friends telling me that it was backwatered. I met a lady at a clothes shop and there was a calendar with a bunch of putin's face & so on, I asked the store keeper about it which thankfully she spoke english and much obliged in answering my questions about putin, she said that he was a strong man that Russia needs & he's a handsome, good, & incorruptable president. She even shared a fun fact about cats saving parts of leningrad during the siege. At some point I'd like to travel to North Korea with a friend, more so because it'll be a funny story a interesting one.
Anyone who has studied the history of the Russian people cannot help but be awed by the culture, people, the diversity in so many regions , their love of music , the ballet , famous writers etc, the Hermitage Museum is on my bucket list so hopefully soon 👍🙏❤️

I'm from Moscow and I know this place. Pereslavl one of the most beautiful city in Russia. It's a place with the most count of churches per 1 kilometer. It's looks like a magic place. In winter, when I was there, I go to the lake Plesheevo and it was as smooth, as ice rink. If I will have an opportunity to forgot about my work and study in Moscow, I will go to this place forever!!! (Honestly, I have been in many different countries and cities, I have visited all countries in Europe, I have been in Thailand, Egypt, Turkey, etc. But this place... It's a real magic, looks like an old forgotten Russian city, but inside it, you fully Inlove into it from the first minutes.)

Yes, there are no castles or beautiful buildings, and the funeral shop opposite the city hospital makes me laugh (this is not a joke XD). But this city is spiritually beautiful, in essence it is not even a city, but a village, most of the houses are private estates with personal houses (which is typical for Russian dachas and villages). And at the same time, everyone, there are 34 churches, and some of them fascinate with their beauty. I’ve also been to Germany, and yes, 90% of the villages are more beautiful than this city, but nowhere in the world do you feel such peace and connection with God as here.

I could totally do this. I've been to Russia on 2 different trips. I liked the people and the history. I've only been in the winter, so I've never experienced the mosquitos.

Have never been to Russia, but after watching this video and learning/watching other stuff about Russia even before that, i have to say a lot of the local habits of the common people are very similar in Poland. I myself come from a small polish town, where it looks very similar. People mind their own business, there is local exchange based trade, everything is very peaceful.I love watching such vids, because it shows that common people are not that different from each other. I lived in Russia for 10 months in 2022-2023 and loved it. Although I was in St. Petersburg and Moscow, most of my time living there was in a Siberian town. I found Russians to be well mannered, calm, really intelligent, funny, polite, and sincere. Some places are super modern, others super old school and 'country'. I like that it is not a 'woke' society, that they are sensible, and that the prices are more than fair....cheap even. The only thing that I personally didn't like, was typical Russian food. But, there are always places to eat out that are from other countries (Chinese, Thai, Italian etc). I would totally live there again. *Edited to add that most of the world actually did not sanction Russia or call them the "bad guys". Only about 40 countries sanctioned them. Much of the world outside of the West love and respect Russia and Russians very much.

I loved the food too and it was all homemade by my lovely fiance that with food purchased locally at the open air produce market down by the train station in Chelyabinsk. I ate like a horse and when I got back to the U.S. I weighed myself and I found out that I didn't even gain a pound!

What about grocery shops they are not only full of our products (100 types of german beer!), they also have their own things which are so extrimly tasty, I have to miss them badly!

It was nice to watch this video; I have been to Russia for about twenty times, first time in 2005 where i met my wife. I absolutly agree with the opinions in the video, but 2005 and 2018 (my last time) are nearly not comparable, because of the development Russia has gone through. We live in Denmark, and when I tell people about Russia, they - mostly- don't believe it's true; it's like they don't want to accept it and stop asking. I hope in my old days it will be possible to move over there, to experience some freedom, like in the old days at home.

I too married a Russian Lady. Currently in Moscow but i dislike any big city, so we are land-house hunting for a more rural setting.
Moscovites like most Capital City populations are not as friendly, polite and courteous as the rest of the country.
I've travelled from St Petersberg to Volgadonsk to Sochi and many towns-cities inbetween. The Russian countryside is beautiful.
If you decide to move here, Please try to learn, at least speaking Russian. I am going through that learning curve now and as an Englishman, it's not easy but to permanently live here you must 1st pass the RVP 3 yr temporary visa which involves audio, written and conversational questions.
Got my test very soon and if i pass, then at least i won't need to leave Russia every year to obtain a new Visa from Britain via the Russian Consulate.
People are people no matter where you live. Some are good and friendly, some are just miserable but no Russian I've encountered hates me for being English. In fact they think I'm crazy for wanting to live in their country. 🇷🇺🇬🇧🇷🇺👍☺️

I have always been fascinated with the world. When I was in grade school I was fascinated with American history. When I became a man, I became fascinated with more ‘ancient’ history, or rather pre-USA history. It’s so fascinating a planet to just stick to one country to which you were born. Russia is just one of the major countries that fascinates me substantially.

My family would love to move, but financially we can't. My wife is learning the language and teaching the children so long. We learning about the culture, history and laws as well in the mean time. If it be the Lord's will, we will move when we can.
Hell when I was in the Marines we had a Russian shop pull into Port! Our top brass was telling us not to be seen with the Russians ! We were in a bar and some of them came in, we bought each other beer and bullshited with each other, barely able to understand each other, we had a blast! They are no different than us! They just wanted to have a good time and party, which we partied with them! Never had anything about our countries came up! Great people!

I'm an American and live in the Russian city of Saratov with my Russian wife and two children. We love the town and the many wonderful people we know here. Even though our town is relatively large, it has a small town feeling. You can talk to your neighbors easily and most people are warm and friendly.
Actually, Saratov is not the best city, even in Volga region.

Very interesting! I think I would love the not judging part of Russian society as well. I grew up in South America and currently live in Europe. Every time I go back to South America I feel so free to just be myself and about my ideas. In the west, everybody is supposed to think between boundaries, which is what feels like always being judged on what you say and if it fits within these boundaries. I never knew that Russia has that same freedom as South America, but it does make sense that it does.

When my wife and I were on holiday in the Maldives in November 2022, we met a wonderful young couple from Portland, USA. The guy's name was Michael and his girlfriend was Sarah. It so happened that our houses on the ocean were nearby. In our numerous conversations, I did not notice any hatred towards us, I did not notice the arrogance that the ruling elites of the United States have, they are very pleasant and adequate people, we answered them in the same way. We talked a lot, they told us about their lives, we told them about ours, one day our conversation led us to the topic of Ukraine, I said to Michael: Michael, I listened to everything you say about this conflict, and I want to tell you that you know absolutely nothing, it’s difficult for you to figure it out listening to all this nonsense that CNN and BBC are pouring into you 24/7, in order to understand this conflict you need to understand Ukrainians and Russians, know their mentality, know how we lived in Soviet times and after the collapse of the Soviet union, what role the West played after the collapse of the Soviet Union both in relation to Russia and in relation to Ukraine, there are a lot of subtleties that cannot simply be ignored, February 24, 2022 is the tip of the iceberg. We did not return to this topic again. We laughed a lot, danced, drank a little :), we just had a wonderful vacation in the company of wonderful people. We invited them to come to us in Moscow, and they invited us to theirs too. I always wanted to go as a tourist to the USA, see the places where famous films were filmed, visit different cities and communicate with the people who live there, I’m sure there are a lot of good people in the USA, in Russia we are always happy to have such people. My experiences with Russians have been that they are very honest friends. Definitely have to visit one day. Probably many of us will be moving there from Europe in 10 years for work as things change there in the right direction while the West heads for a complete moral and economic collapse.
I asked some Russia friends I play online games with, what £75k would get me in terms of housing in rural Russia, being thats what I've managed to save this last 20 years of working. Things are looking pretty rosey, for a retirement out there. I have 3 private pensions coming to me in 25 years, don't need to rely on the State pension which - most likely - will be pennies by the time it rolls around. Not too keen on paying 60p/kwh for gas and electric either! I'll take some of the 4p/kwh Russian energy, thankyou!

I concur with his sentiments about the woke culture in America and why people from the west are moving to Russia. I moved to Vladivostok Russia after retiring from 41 years of service to the American government as a former Marine and Department of Defense Army employee with over 30 years being stationed overseas in various countries. I can honestly say that out of all the countries I have lived and worked at, the Russian people are the only people to have welcomed me with open arms and have helped me to navigate the In's and Outs of living in Russia with only being able to speak a little bit of Russian at the moment. The only threats to me are coming from my own country and the west with their sanctions, particularly with the banking sanctions in getting my retirement pensions into Russia. Thanks to my Russian friends, I am able to do so 😊. I have made Russia and Vladivostok my home. I love it here. I stay busy volunteering to try and give back to the Russian people a fraction of what they have given me. ❤

Not all banks are sanctioned in Russia. Look for small regional banks in your area. Can also open bank accounts in CIS countries that will send money to their affiliate branches in Russia . Can also use crypto. No issues with owning or buying property in Russia. Naturally there are laws about foreigners owning land in Russia but it's possible as I own my house and the land it's built on.

Sanctions DID work ! As for money transfer, there is no more SWIFTS wire bank transfers, The only way is crypto, which worked perfectly fine, untill last month when US forced Binance to leave Russia.. So, I personally don't know reliable and safe solution to transfer money from the States now

What about the American economy? I come from a Russian Armenian family. We’ve moved to USA Florida back in 1994 to be close to our family. I love America and the essence of the country is patriotism, love of freedom, Christian western values. However lately things have been drastically changing in the negative direction. Everything is much much more expensive, and I mean everything. It’s getting very hard for regular everyday Americans to live in America. Also let’s not forget the massive social degradation, and all of the degeneracy that’s being pushed on the public here. Russia seems to be a better place for conservative Christian Americans, because We are currently experiencing a spiritual war, and Russia is one of the biggest players in this war, a war between nations who stand with God and those who are godless. Russia definitely stands with God. I was born and raised in Russia Rostov on Don, and every one there grew at least part of their food, everyone had a plot of land or multiple plots of land which they have utilized for growing food

I've watched many videos of life in Russia over the last 6 months and... I'm jealous.
To explain. i'm a 62 year old Brit living in the UK but we emigrated to Western Australia in the early 70's and lived in Forrestfield.
These videos show that present day Russia is like it was in Oz in the Early 70's.
By that I mean everyone trusted everyone.
Everything was brutally raw but exciting (You'd die if you wandered off the beaten track carelessly) with wooden delicatessen huts along the highway in what appeared random places.
Nobody judged anyone. Were all in this together.
I loved it (Life takes some funny twists and turns) but I've come to realise that here in the West we really do live in the Empire of Lies.

I am an American who simply thought Russian sounded really cool when I was around 17 so I started learning the language. I ended up quitting for a while but am getting back into it some years later. I really hope I can visit in the next couple years once I am done with university, I would even consider living there if given the opportunity. The furthest East I have gotten to travel is Estonia and Poland, and I know those countries are very different but I really enjoy being in the Slavic part of the world. I have always gotten along with the Russians I have met and even grew up with some in my rural American town :)

@@archarovec I met it's the closest I have been geographically, not culturally. But since it is difficult to enter Russia these days I am simply relating it to my experiences. There are a lot of Russians in Estonia, some of the bars there were almost entirely Russian. So while it is a Baltic country it is the closest exposure I've had with Russia. I was only in Tallinn though. I've also been to Latvia, but only briefly.
Either way, it's leagues more enjoyable than western Europe. Far more interesting to travel in and more hospitable people. Plus from my American perspective I feel like slavic countries have more in common than differences.
I worked seven years with Russian crews and at times the only American. I was in Russia over thirty times and enjoyed each time. Any of the Russians I worked with could have been my next door neighbor and would have been and still good friends who contact me to this day.

Spent around 3 weeks over Christmas time and new year time there almost 20 years ago. Probably one of the warmest and most welcoming places Ive ever visited. Moscow was a bit iffy, still ok but the outskirts of St Petersburg, I probably was invited inside more peoples homes than I have been anywhere else. Spending the night at a friends Dacha and watching the wolves in the nearby woods in the morning was very special. Great memories of the place.

I'm from the Netherlands and seeing these Russian villages, it's almost exactly like how my father described growing up in the 1950's Netherlands. Very much farmer based villages with local trading, sometimes even without money, just goods for goods. Reminds me of a more simple life. Cool video. Much appreciated.

I happened to have a dialogue on TH-cam with a person fron a EU country. He claimed Russia was crushed by sanctions: Ladas weren't equipped with airbags or ABS, and there was no chance the Russians would manufacture them any time soon. But the most facinating part started where he said Russia slided 50 years back in terms of civilized lifestyle because McDonalds, Starbucks and original Cola were no longer there. I thought the dude was trolling but as the chat was going on I realized he was dead serious. I thank this guy because I had no idea what Starbucks was, and I haven't eaten any fast food for 10+ years now. We don't call McD or KFC a restaurant by the way.

I was just in Russia for a few weeks and this thing they say about more freedom makes sense. If compared to US or EU. A grinding bureacracy is eating up people's freedom in these places. Slowly but surely. The war on cash and privacy is one big thing that is happening in the West. Russian banks however don't treat their customers like potential criminals. The government does not seem to hunt black market money either, unless you are taking huge amounts. That's what some small business people said. They take a little on the side and then pay taxes on the rest so it looks legitimate.
I could move for sure. Vyborg was a nice place. I like to fish and go out in nature. Moscow is interesting, but I think I am more of a dacha person. I should settle in the countryside.
Driving is no problem either. I took my own car from Scandinavia. No issues. Some people asked from where I come. Everybody was friendly.
You’re totally right about taxes, it’s hilarious - Russians are very libertarian and try to avoid them despite their low levels. I think this is why on paper, Russians don’t make much money. But nobody I know makes the stated minimum salary.
That said, cash usage is down big time. Everyone uses their bank apps to quickly transfer money via phone number. It’s honesty great (despite the risk of government monitoring of purchases).

@@CashCatz низкие зарплаты в россии реально низкие. но есть один нюанс-- дешевая сфера услуг. медицинские, судебные, коммунальные и т.д. расходы имеют крайне низкую стоимость по меркам развитых стран. да, накопить на что-то значимое, вроде машины/дома или крупные траты вроде поездок заграницу обходятся бюджету россиянина сильно болезненнее, чем европейцу, но перекрытие базовых потребностей для жизни наоборот выходит сильно проще и дешевле.

I spent most of the last 4 years in Russia, drove a UK registered car for the last year. Got stopped alot by traffic cops. Always showed my Irish passport before my car documents. Politely mentioning that we are not NATO members. Moscow cops can be a bit intimidating and more likely to come up with some kind of reason to 'fine' me.
Spent alot of time in Kaluga, met good people, used to go to pubs & chat with locals (shout out to Rocket 🚀 Pub and Snatch Bar!)
Moved to GB in April 23 and don't really like it, housing in Dublin is ridiculously expensive so now I'm moving to Spain this month. Would have stayed in Russia a few more years if the mother of my son (unplanned at least by me!) hadn't become a Banderite extremist (she was born in UA but lived in Moscow 20 years with RU nationality). She's been in Spain a few months now on her UA passport.
Russians are our European cousins, Americans are not! (Although individuals must be judged on their own actions, not their government's)... We need to build business and cultural ties ASAP.
I miss lots of things about Russia, especially the no nonsense, no smalltalk attitude of people. No BS talk about the weather or football, either we talk about real things or don't talk at all.
I don't know if I will go back now that my son isn't there anymore and my best friend died (alcoholic relapse after years of sobriety). I have great memories that I will cherish.

Not long ago he wrote to us that we are orcs, we live in a stable, we have no electricity and food, we steal toilets from Ukraine and many other things. How can it be? he was here, saw everything with his own eyes, there was a moment when we were all just dropping money for an evening at the pub, and he marveled that banking in Russia was much more technological and faster than at home. And now he's saying that we live in the forest, and there's no civilization here.

Been to Russia 18 times since 2006. It is a wonderful place. If you spend enough time there you'll connect to the Russian soul and it becomes part of you. Hard for anyone who hasn't been there to understand what that means, but it's real. I've been treated very well there. Great people, great culture. Much love and respect for my Russian friends and in laws. It is a shame our politicians try to make us hate each other when we are more similar than we are led to believe. My own family is proof Americans and Russians can get along great and thrive together.

i'm an Indian, i visited Russia in 2019 i only felt two difference, people and the country, every single humans beings i met were same as Indians who treats their guest. on the third day, we went to a village and we got 7 tea from 7 different people and lot of food, they invited us at a fire place and we had a lot of fun and the next day, one of the guy(nicolai) who invited us for a fire place/camp, he gave us a full tour of the town on his expense, they are wonderful people, we Indians never hate Russians, they are welcoming people, i think they are nicer than 95% of western people.

We had a similar episode in Turkey. A Turkish family on the shore of a small lake had a picnic with barbecue and tea. When we passed by and said hello, their grandmother asked us where we were from. When I said that we were from Russia, they literally forced us to join and did not calm down until they fed us and gave us excellent tea. Very fond memories.

Median salary in Russia is $340 after tax. You should judge prices by % of a salary, not by numbers. If you have $345, you can buy ~110 KG of chicken breasts a month. I googled median salary in US after taxes - ~$4000 a month. Then i googled average chicken breast price - 3.50 per pound. It means that median US salary could buy you 1142 pounds (520) kg of breasts. The difference is 5 times.

I love American down to earth curiousity when they travel. This town is actually called Pereaslavl Zalessky. It was founded by Rus colonists from the original Pereaslavl on the Dnepr. Zalessky means 'Beyond the forest' with reference to the lands in the north-east that were well protected from raids by the vast Taiga that streched all the way from beyond the Ural mountains. The church is called the cathedral of transfiguration of the savior, and is a UNESCO world heritage site, built from white stone in the classical Byzantine/Rus style. There were no quarries anywhere near these marsh lands so the stones had to be transported from far away at a very large expense, and by order of the princes directly.

It is such a joy seeing that my country can provide a good life even for people from the west. It means that we, despite all this conflicts and crisises, have not lost important elements of our country, of our society. Pepople can come and enjoy their life. It makes me happy.
I'm English and have been in Russia for 17 years. Even got Russian citizenship. Many of us foreigners feel free here. We can lead a life that makes us feel wholesome. Russia has all the important things right like immediate healthcare, cheap public transport, buying land and a dacha is cheap (compared to the West), fruit and veg are natural and taste great. People are helpful and soulful. Russis is our beacon of light in these dark times.

I live in a large city that has small town kindness between people and would feel comfortable almost any place in Russia because as the subjects of this video said, there is more personal freedom here in Russia than my native USA. I moved from northern California at the beginning of 2000 and after visiting 92 countries it was very plain to see that the US was in a downward spiral that has only accelerated. I have been more accepted here in St Petersburg than every in the US because the nature of the society here is to not judge people by any trait other than their character. It does not matter if one is any race, religion, politics, country of origin, career, or wealth, the only traits that determines whether one is embraced is character. I was successful in a wide range of activities and fields in California so I could afford to insulate myself from the extreme division and anger towards any thought or behavior but based on travel to less common tourist destination I could see the radical difference in aggression, division and hate that fills the collective west compared to regions of the world that the US targeted in its 273 wars, regime change and aggression all over the world. Dishonesty is the primary trait of US culture. It was not always that way, but since the many wars the US started in South East Asia in the 60s and then in the early 70s in the US where the middle class has been crashing ever since, when corporations and a few very wealthy people took over the policies and tools of government, the decline in quality of life has been steep and dramatic. It is not a happy or honest society. Propaganda and distortion is so intense in the US, people have gone crazy. That has filtered down to all the countries the US controls. Being in a country were people and the government is honest is a big change for Americans, Brits, Canadians etc who move here. Once you experience the genuine comradely and treatment as a valued member of the community, it is really hard to return to the US. I have only been back 5 times in 23 years and each time see an accelerating decline between visits.
There are many differences, people are better educated, and more broadly educated, and FAR more cultured. It is hard to find a 10 year old who has not experienced great opera ballet visited world class museums, or drama. Those are important parts of the social and personal development in Russia. Culture is as intergrated into whole life as eating or spending summers at the family dacha that most families have regardless of their income. Most people over 20 own their home. They have no college debt or medical debt. No need for a car with excellent cheap clean safe public transport, very few debt contracts. The food is natural without chemical, or GMO, and reasonably priced. My sister still in California has 100 or more bills every month that would not exist here. She pays Concast $240 a month for slow internet and cable TV. Living in the suburbs, other than TV there is nothing else but fast food and chain grocery stores, and homeless everywhere makes ever taking a walk risky for an older retired woman.. I pay $6 a month without a contract, for 330mb/s fiber optic cable into my home, unmetered, and if I wanted 178 channels of TV I could simply pay $2 more. I do not even know anyone who watches TV because real life is right down the street or in the 600 parks in this city which has more world class leading museums than all North America combined. 230 drama theaters, 54 classical music theaters
I have literally a thousand friends here and meet new interesting people every day just by walking from my city center apartment in any direction. Russian cities are farm more social and affordable to have a superior life which is not available at all for 99% of Americans. I have zero conflicts with people. I go out to clubs, rock, jazz clubs, cultural exchange events, daily or just walk in any direction and end up getting to know new people. I am older but well integrated into the entire age spectrum. Most of my friends are in the 18-40 age range, I am 74, because we share a more interests in common. The sexes get along, and genuinely like each other. There are not any of the 67 genders like in the US, you are male or female, and who who you are attracted to is your business, no one cares. Being gay is not a different class, it is simply who one happens to be attracted to so there is little or no concern to other. Most of my closest friends are women. For those who want to start a family, the services and assistance is amazing, everything is free, and long paid family leave can start in the first 3 months of pregnancy and young families are given grants to buy a larger home. Having a second child brings even more state benefits.
There are 182 different cultures that make up Russia and they all get along.
If someone wants to move to rural area they can get free land and they get clear title to it if they develop it in any way within a 5 year period. It is easy, fast, simple and cheap to start a new business. Without a doubt, raising a family is easier and far less expensive here compared to the US. Americans can't even imagine how free life is when you have no debt.

My first video with Real Reporter. I have been itching to travel to Russia, so shows like this just further whet my appetite. I am sure Moscow & St Petersburg are excellent tourist attractions, but it it the small rural locations that are where you want to lodge for any length of time. I have been to Seoul & Heidelberg & London & Anchorage Alaska. Ultimately, these are simply large cities. But it is in the countryside that the true adventure of other cultures exist. I went to Russia too in 2017, I went to St Petersburgs to study about the siege of Leningrad & it's very much normal there despite some of my friends telling me that it was backwatered. I met a lady at a clothes shop and there was a calendar with a bunch of putin's face & so on, I asked the store keeper about it which thankfully she spoke english and much obliged in answering my questions about putin, she said that he was a strong man that Russia needs & he's a handsome, good, & incorruptable president. She even shared a fun fact about cats saving parts of leningrad during the siege.
At some point I'd like to travel to North Korea with a friend, more so because it'll be a funny story a interesting one.
Anyone who has studied the history of the Russian people cannot help but be awed by the culture, people, the diversity in so many regions , their love of music , the ballet , famous writers etc, the Hermitage Museum is on my bucket list so hopefully soon 👍🙏❤️

I would love to go to Russia! I'm an American who lives in Switzerland who's partner is Russian. I love the food, culture and language. Even named our Son Kirill and the name fits perfectly. I just wish there weren't so much crap going on and that people stop ignoring the wrong doing of the west as well.

I'm from Moscow and I know this place. Pereslavl one of the most beautiful city in Russia. It's a place with the most count of churches per 1 kilometer. It's looks like a magic place. In winter, when I was there, I go to the lake Plesheevo and it was as smooth, as ice rink. If I will have an opportunity to forgot about my work and study in Moscow, I will go to this place forever!!!
(Honestly, I have been in many different countries and cities, I have visited all countries in Europe, I have been in Thailand, Egypt, Turkey, etc. But this place... It's a real magic, looks like an old forgotten Russian city, but inside it, you fully Inlove into it from the first minutes.)

Yes, there are no castles or beautiful buildings, and the funeral shop opposite the city hospital makes me laugh (this is not a joke XD). But this city is spiritually beautiful, in essence it is not even a city, but a village, most of the houses are private estates with personal houses (which is typical for Russian dachas and villages). And at the same time, everyone, there are 34 churches, and some of them fascinate with their beauty. I’ve also been to Germany, and yes, 90% of the villages are more beautiful than this city, but nowhere in the world do you feel such peace and connection with God as here.
Никогда не понимала восхищений Переславлем, сама из Ярославля и как по мне у нас намного лучше, Переславль просто к Москве ближе. Но в сравнении с другими городами России не так плохо наверное.

I wrote about this city not in the sense that it is better than others, but in the fact that there is something extremely unusual in it, which attracts me very much (I myself live in Moscow, near Moscow State University, and I have enough beautiful architecture). However, if you have already touched upon the topic of war, in order to justify Russian citizens I would like to say the following: 1) yes, in Russia there are people who turn a blind eye to the war and justify it, but these are people 50+ years old who are susceptible to propaganda. 2) I relate to the younger generation and among my peers everyone has a bad attitude towards the war in Ukraine, primarily because ANY war is bad, since in ANY war people die first. When I write about this city, its peculiarity would have attracted me even before the war. One should not think that all Russian citizens support the war; the entire younger generation has long learned to filter the huge volumes of propaganda that come from both the Russian government and the governments of other countries. War never changes. What it was like 2000 years ago is how it remains, with its horrors and crimes against humanity on both sides, unfortunately this is human nature.

I could totally do this. I've been to Russia on 2 different trips. I liked the people and the history. I've only been in the winter, so I've never experienced the mosquitos.

Never go to siberia in summer. I love my taigas and tundras but to unprepared man the amount of mosquitos is terrifying
