I had not been able to fully believe it with all of the other measuring tools available but now Nvidia says the same. 170 FPS and higher. Of course it depends on a lot of things but that's what I am getting. I have to give thanks to you and other guys who get and share the knowledge. Following those instructions and advice has paid off. I do note differences between a Windowed or full screen stats. That's interesting. Now I have to see what the summary (the best info in one file) has to show for 2020. Now if the loading of the sim, the use of my scenery add-ons and a re-work of that terrible keyboard setup/binding program and less going to the cloud could be fixed, I could enjoy flying even more. Thank you for this info.
Great video Mark. The way I check to see if these overlay programs use up any precious resources, is I run a benchmark program (SuperPosition 4k optimized) with the overlay turned on check the score at the end of the run, then I run it again with the Overlay off or not even running, most of the time, the final score of the benchmark program can be a fair amount higher meaning the Overlay software is using up resources. This is true of AfterBurner with Riva running or not, I've also tried this with other system stats software, all of them so far use up enough resources to lower the benchmark scores.
How large is the performance difference in between using overlays vs not using them, and how consistent is it in between your benchmark test runs? I mean if the difference is fairly consistent, you can just take it into account and adjust your Frameview benchmark results accordingly.
@@VilleVaananen The difference was fairly consistent between having the overlay on and off. But then again, this is useful for 2D gaming, get into VR and things may change, I do use FPSVR for SteamVR titles and the OpenXR Toolkit Overlay for OpenXR titles, and since VR is much more difficult to benchmark, personally I see no difference between overlay on or off in either scenarios.
Thanks for the video. Maybe I was doing it wrong but I have an AMD CPU and GPU and although the FPS and 1%L looked sensible, my temperatures were always shown at 37 and 42, with virtually no usage at all (whilst getting less than 35fps.
Thanks for sharing but after installing I see a terrible flashing sort of left part of my screen from top to bottom. Once quit the shimmer or flashing dissapeared. Strangest experience. Do you have a clue what's going on?
Hello Marc, I'm sorry but a piece of information has just come in, apparently if you have the Nvidia app running in the background, it decreases performance by up to 15%. This is a general bug, and Nvidia hasn't fixed it yet.
oh my god. i got so scared from that german voice now talking in your videos - i thought your account got hacked 😅😅 i do hope youtube remembers me setting your videos to english for the future
Unfortunately all the overlay apps available all cost FPS. Lots of complaints about the new nvidia app and how to fix what can cost you up to 15% in some apps. Hardware unboxed for the full story. Anything that uses telemetry will cost you because it is using at least 1 core of your CPU. Anyone who says otherwise is fooling themselves. Up to you how important performance is - if it is - don't use overlays (any of them - including nvidia, xbox game overlay etc etc.) if you want to give your Flight sim full attention.
Thank You. I really need this and will definitely be installing/using it.
I had no idea it was available.

Love your content Mark. Keep on rolling. Thanks a lot.

Very cool!
But the Nvidia app has this already?
Alt+R
Or is this different?
In career mode I sometimes go from about 90 fps to only 11 fps when landing in certain airports. Anyone else have this problem?
No ram usage data? Or VRAM?
thanks for your job!,is it possible to display fps in vr ? (metaquest 3)
@@ercoppin yes with virtual desktop or OpenXR toolkit.
@SimHangerFS thank you

I don’t know…strange, I’ve not experienced that.
@@SimHangerFS Thanks, too bad.

Hardware unboxed just did a video on the subject. TLDR, if you don't use the photo/filters, there is almost no fps drop.

😂
does it show in VR?
@@vracan No, but on screen - but that’s not the point, it records all the data including fps for you to review 👍
@@SimHangerFS is it showing fps of the vr image or of the monitor screen?
