So the content dictates the quality of the video. At other times, and it most cases, its the message or story that is the content. And the highest quality video in the work won't fix a lame and boring story. However, if its a good story, you'd watch it even if it were shot in SD.
It's good to see the camera is not limiting your skills much. I'd love you to do a tutorial on getting the most out of the S23 Ultra. I know these videos touch on it but I'd have no real idea how to duplicate what you've done in the skill and video modes.
4ys tops and then we will have better cameras on smartphones than 5-7k mirrorless cameras. Did an ad-hoc test between my old EOS 600D, RX100VII, Galaxy S7 Edge, Note 10+, s23u and was quite impressed by the technological improvement over the older generation smartphones and my DSLR, s23u is quite on par when it comes to point and shoot with my RX100VII which is great given the the difference in volume and versatility. Either way will not be selling my RX100VII just yet :)))

@Mac I think this proves that you don't own both devices. I'm getting 2x more battery on my S23U compared to exynos S22U, can actually run genshin at highest 60 fps from before which was 40 fps. Selfie camera is better, 50 mp raw is amazing, and this phone sparks my passion for amateur photography, unlike the S22U and the look is actually so much better in person than you would imagine, also feels more comftable in day to day use, Screen is also brighter, I have seen 0 stutters for the past month unlike S22U where I would have had at lest 1 stutter per week and besides where I'm from I got 600 off the S23U which is amazing considering that all tech depreciates 30 percent per year ( I got my S22U for 850 with galaxy buds pro ) The best refinement on any phone currently
@@aforce2314 i understand there are improvements of course but they aren't as drastic as you make them out to be, everyone's user experience is different, I've gotten phenomenal videos & pictures on this & from the examples I've seen the difference is minimal. I paid 1200 for mine so you can bet i won't be trading this in to get only 600 back & then be expected to pay another 1000 on top of that for a phone that will feel the same with minor improvements. Battery life for me has been fine. Not amazing but averaging 6-7.5 hrs of SOT per day. Perfectly sufficient
I imagine that the main and ultrawide be merged together into one variable main lens while the periscope lens would also variable making the 3x lens redundant which gives extra space for a larger periscope sensor.
First off, a top quality video! If I didn’t see the title caption being a S23U video I would not have noticed it was taken with a phone. This is the kind of video review that we don’t see enough of. It’s great to see the advancements in tech these days as you said, without a gimbal. As someone who is a long time iPhone user thinking of that switch to S23U, I am also curious what the quality would be like shot on an iPhone with the cinematic feature built in as well. (Note: this is not to say iPhone is better or Samsung is better, it’s more for the capability. I’m not looking for any negative comments from Android or iPhone factions ✌🏼). And oh yeah, please tell your friend he has a beast of a ride. Driving in snow, and even that shot taken with headlights behind. Amazing.
It always annoyed me when people would say "Wow, that is a great shot! What camera did you use?" Yes, the equipment makes a difference, but knowing what to do with it is so much more important. Amazing stuff - your skill and ability to tell a story are definitely stellar but I do have to say I'm honestly impressed with the S23... Also, having a freaking beast of a truck featured doesn't hurt. :) The TRX looks and sounds awesome. Well done!
The close shots were perfect felt like it's shot on a expensive camera but on some shots where vegetation were shown i could tell it was from a phone right away . Very impressive for a phone.
Great video OIle , I have a friend who is a Samsung Rep here in Canada and it is a nice phone in everyway, he said it felt like a 2 generation jump from the S22, i will still buy the Sony Xperia 1 iv for the simple reason the interface is awesome and will work well with both my Sony cameras that i have, one advantage with the Sony phone over the Samsung is there is much less proprietary software on the phone compared to the Samsung phone, I know the Samsung has a newer processor than the Xperia which really doesn't matter to me, I think here in Canada /USA there is always more software on the phones especially if you buy them through a service provider they always stick a ton of garbage on them and i paid to get my last phone Samsung Galaxy S9+ unlocked and was finally able to get rid almost all the garbage software on it and performed allot better, I thank you for this awesome review and helped me to go ahead and get the Xperia 1 iv and buy it out right online and save a thousand dollars Canadian and that money can go towards more Sony future purchases 👍
4k 120fps on the 85-125mm camera is such a great feature, I use a 3rd party app on my 1ii for video as it gives me exposure zebras and focus peaking, the few lacking features of cinema pro, can also flip between HLG2020 PQ1000 Slog Cinelog rec709 etc. Whats a pain is if you want to send something that was recorded in cinema pro you have to convert it to rec709 first, I haven't found a way to send something in HLG that doesn't look washed out on the other end.

I think the 8K lessens the oversharpening but you miss out on 60fps and 10bit video. Either way I would film on Motioncam Pro if I wanted the best video quality.
... (responding to the very end of this video) : I was thinking about this as well, and I actually sold my DSLR camera and got this S23 Ultra. I am not a pro photographer or some pro content creator, so, this S23 Ultra is just good enough for me, besides, it is compact, and it does not limit me in any way whatsoever, which I could not honestly say about the DSLR. On some occasions I was simply too scared to take it with me (to the mountain peak, or while having fun on the wild water, etc). So, I decided to say good bye to the pro cameras. From now on, I will simply keep buying new smartphones every year or two ...

This video single handedly made me kick myself for sending back my S23 Ultra for my iPhone that I still had at the time last year. Apple's darned ecosystem is what prevented me from switching to Samsung as well as just feeling overwhelmed by everything I could do with OneUI. I've been away from Samsung for a long time before I went with the S23 Ultra so jumping back in was really exciting but foreign for me seeing how things changed. I'm not gonna make the mistake of what I did last year so as much as I would like to I'll consider waiting to see what the S25 Ultra or S26 Ultra brings to the table but I can't make that a guarantee because I do still like Apple devices and their ecosystem. I watched Your videos with the Sony Pro-I and Mark 4 and now this one with the Samsung 23 ultra but I have to say the Sony look so much better and I'm confused why.
Some people put actual DSLR lenses on their phones to get that sweet depth of field bokeh blur. Add in recording in log or raw and its almost indistinguishable from professional cameras that cost 4 to 5 times more.
I wish i had this phone but i hate how the optimization isnt there. The videos arent as crisp as an iPhone. Samsung needs to make everything inhouse. Their OS, every app in their own app store, their own chip thats actually good, just everything.

You can still see the sharpening that is typical for a smartphone camera but for a phone, the shots are pretty amazing

Some people put actual DSLR lenses on their phones to get that sweet depth of field bokeh blur. Add in recording in log or raw and its almost indistinguishable from professional cameras that cost 4 to 5 times more.

I wish i had this phone but i hate how the optimization isnt there. The videos arent as crisp as an iPhone. Samsung needs to make everything inhouse. Their OS, every app in their own app store, their own chip thats actually good, just everything.
