In the ICE engine car market, Indian OEMs have to compete with the Germans and Koreans. When it comes to hybrids, the Japanese will pose a bigger threat. But if EVs are what India is moving to then China will dominate unless TATA, Mahindra and other Indian OEMs level up.

You are right! The amount of funding chinese govt is providing is mind-blowing! And to be honest these chinese cars, specifically BYD are amazingly built. Tata mahindra is not even near to the fit and finish what chinese manufacturers are providing. Inspite of tariffs, they will be able to provide cars cheaper than tata or mahindra , because chinese govt will counter our tax tariffs! And chinese economy is 5 times bigger than india and the power is consolidated with one party and one person.

If I knew this was coming I would not have bought my punch ev. I had even asked mg dealership whether they are launching this. The only issue I have with this car it is a little bit too long for Indian city roads. Ultimately that was why I bought the punch, that and the guaranteed safety as well as the harman system

Tata has issues with the end user experience and quality. Safety is good from Tata, but quality sucks - panel gaps, software bugs and way people are treated in service centers suck. Tata design is also now saturated and looks old. If MG brings this with good service then it’s super 👌
