Bhai india me speeed breakers itne bade bade hote h isliye main demand h ground clearence ki thats why speed bumps are the bumps for sedan and hatchback

Most of the cars that we call SUV's in our country are just raised hatchbacks, so India is still a hatchback country.
Absolutely..
Instead of improving indian road conditions, we buy higher ground clearance cars to avoid potholes. Highest accident deaths in india but we demand higher speed turbos high performance engine and raise the speed limits. Basics are not right , priorities are not right , times are strange... showoff factor , instead of fuel efficient sedans and hatchbacks , pseudo suvs are selling like anything
So true!
These SUVs are literally blownup Hatchback
The most important factor these days is that cars, just like iPhones were some years back, have become status symbol. Bigger your car is, bigger is the perceived status.
@@bokinlego actually it is a yes and no both.
@@motoroctane Actually I meant 'one of the most important factors' instead of 'the most important factor'. I was just being metaphorical in emphasising this weird trend!
People who won't probably have even 2% of their car usage in off-road conditions but in packed cities and highways are buying 4x4 Thars and Jimnys. People who spend most of their car time alone or with just a front co-passenger are buying Cretas or Harriers. People with 7 lakh car budgets are buying base Punchs just because it tall and high. It goes on.
Bollywood/South movies are also the culprit. SUVs especially black are projected as having gangsta or strong persona vibes and there's a hidden urge in everyone of us, teenager or bald office uncles alike, to be macho. No wonder Maruti tried to put their iconic Alto into steroids, producing a genetically deformed Lord Espresso.
In a simple people chose to drive SUV on a bad road rather than asking good roads from Govt.
Similarly Instead of telling the govt to lower taxes on fuel people are buying unsafe suzuki cars for their mileage.
Do you know, the government increases taxes with increasing ground clearance 🫥

This is an awesome video. Thanks to Rachit and team.
Hi Rachit, been following MO for a long time now, excellent content, keep up the good work, 😊
Jeremy Clarkson summed up this problem very accurately when he was reviewing the BMW X6 in his summary:
"It is a big car, but it cannot fit more people or luggage than an equivalent sedan could do. While the X6 has sporty driving dynamics to prevent body roll, they had to fill the suspension with so much gravel and concrete that the ride is atrocious. While the engine is powerful enough to haul the X6 at high speeds, it would have been much faster and more efficient if it were put in a smaller and less heavy sedan. Unlike the Range Rover which can do well off road, this car doesn't have any low range or locking diffs, which means that it is useless offroad."
The same thing was shown in another episode of "The Grand Tour", when the three presenters went to Canada to road test such "Crossover SUVs". On a racetrack, a sedan with comparable power-to-weight ratio left all three for dead (because it had zero body roll, while these three had to considerably brake ahead of time to avoid body roll), while costing less than these three SUV's. And when they tried to do some offroad work in the dust, their 4x4 systems panicked and went into limp-home mode, nullifying their point as an off-roader.
In summary, a Jacked up hatchback (the so called crossover SUVs) give the worst of both worlds. The big and bulky body adds unnecessary weight, which means that performance and fuel economy is much worse than a hatch/sedan on the same platform, the tall suspension raises the center of gravity of the vehicle, so to prevent body roll, the suspension is much stiffer, which ruins the ride comfort. To add to all this, the high riding body of an SUV is much more lethal to pedestrians as it focuses the impact on the chest or torso during a collision, rather than the legs (in the case of hatches/sedans). In fact, European law forbids lifting the bodywork of an SUV over a particular limit specifically to abide with the pedestrian collision regulations.
Also, for the naysayers saying that "bad roads need such large jacked up hatches", the ground clearance on modern mass market sedans and hatchbacks is around 170mm, which is more than sufficient on most on the roads of the nation. If your Swift car with 170 mm ground clearance is grounding on a speed hump/pothole, then it is not the car which is at fault, it is the road contractor/builder who should be pulled up.
Too long. Who tf is Clarkson? You get 1 like. 😂
gaadi kharidna aapkehaat me hai, road design nhi. Crossovers are not that bad for cities & the avg is 1-2km bad which is not that bad.
What do you drive maturi 800 or Lamborghini 4:02
@@tageapa123 I drive a 2nd gen Swift. It has 170mm ground clearance and in the huge variety of road surfaces I drove on, it has never grounded itself. It is compact enough that it can fit in the narrow bylanes in cities, and I never felt obnoxious blocking the lanes when I park the car in the gullies.
For me, driving in the city, I don’t see the need to get a bulky SUV like the Creta or the Hector, as my Swift can do most of the work it can do, without obnoxiously blocking space.
I have always owned a sedan and just don't feel like making the switch though I have driven many suv's. You feel royal in a sedan given the space and comfort..!
Your priorities seem primal. Sedans are designed for highways and are aerodynamic unlike suv bricks. India is making a lot of highways meant for sedans. better late than never.

In SUVs we don't have to worry about speed breakers, potholes.
But in sedans and hatchbacks, we have to see these things which is a BIG stress
But in suvs we have body roll which means poor handling on highways
In sedans you can cruise in expressways with confidence, cutting the air like a knife.
Ab wo din durr nahi jab log i20 ko bhi SUV kehne lagenge!!!
What a excellent explanation!
Sub 4 meter SUVs are the best thing to happen for Indian consumers as it is taxed less but has more features and safety.

13:00 Lol why didn't you mention Tata Punch here instead of Fronx
Big Problems regarding Sedan,
1. Low Ground Clearance
2. Difficult to Drive in City Traffic
3. Currently Sedans do not offer features
4. Due to length being more, the taxes on them are somewhat similar to SUVs.
So, when all of this is seen buy a buyer, they just think, isse achha to SUV le lete hai.
Example: Verna costs about 18-19 Lakh ex-showroom TOP MODEL (last time I checked).
It's Interiors are not even that premium and features offered are less.
in 18-20Lakh price you get those so called "SUV". with more features, higher ground clearance, better interiors, etc
so ofc people will buy those.
I've to VW sedans vento and ameo from 2016. I've combined driven them 250,000 kms in which I've driven on semi off road environments and even some river crossing where one Inova got stuck so the talk of higher ground clearance is some what shaddy for me
11:00 verna se zyada feature aur power konsi 21-22 lakh ki gaadi m h?
Xuv 700 AX5
12:40 real reason behind why crossover is called SUVs 😂
Punch is also a suv 😂
Bhed chaal bhi ek big reason ! hai
Totally agree with u, or india bhedh chaalo ka hi desh hai. Yahi reason hai TOYOTA,vw, skoda, apni or bhi acchi acchi gadiyaan india mein launch hi nahi krtey. Toyota ki worldwide 47 models hais car k, or india mein wohi ghissi peeti hai 2-4 gaadiyaan hai bs

Nice Video Sir 😍😍
I think someone unleashed the paid mafia online all of sudden all the reviewers are promoting Sedans which is an outdated segment in India. For indians owning a car is a dream, we will buy the most value for money option. Why would some one buy shot vernas, taiguns or kushaqs for 20 lakhs when we can get much feature rich scorpios and 700 at same price. Moreover, the seevice of the SUVs is cheaper than sedans 😊
Why you mention only Scorpio and XUV Mr biased. "Patriotic buyers" 😆. And your opinion isn't completely right.

Bro I can’t commute to my state capital Guwahati from my District with a hatchback due to very poor roads.
Bound to keep an SUV here in Assam.
Another reason is Nitin Gadkari ji, he has built so many amazing interstate highways. So people now consider travelling between states via car as a real possibility. Hence, it makes more sense to buy SUV now.
Wrong logic . It's better with sedans if road conditions are good since you don't need higher ground clearance.

Great observation. But you are missing the macro picture. Generation alfa is going to ditch car ownership completely. Just like around a hundred year back, people considered horse drawn carriages as mode of going from A to B prior to the advent of internal combustion engine.

Ford and Fiat exit made a vacum in performance hatchbacks. There are some cars which were launched ahead of their time. Cars like Ford Fusion, Chevrolet SRV, Fiat Palio and even Honda Jazz initial version. Had they been successful, Indian market would've been in a different state today.

SUVs generally have a wider stance, the width is higher for same length of sedan or hatchback, it is desirable.
High GC to handle broken roads/city, municipal roads. Upright bonnet, more metal upfront for safety in case of mishap. This trend in evident in crash results.
