I’d love a Dumplin musical, but they need to bring back the lesbian and the disabled side character. I really liked the film until I read the book and realised they took out some of the representation, which I find especially frustrating in a movie that’s marketed for it’s representation
@@olivinebranch I'll be looking forward to that. I revisited Hercules last year on the night before Valantine's on Disney Plus. It has aged pretty good
I would LOVE for you to do this concept but with Books that Should be Musicals. Also one movie that is currently being created and shown in a small scale is The Craft. I keep seeing stuff on TikTok from it! One I would LOVE to see is Practical Magic. I feel like it could be kind of surreal and whimsical, and of course they would have to have Lime in the Coconut as one of the songs!
La La Land and Burlesque are some movie musicals that could work for stage! When it comes to movies that aren't already movies, I think I would say Stardust (the movie based on the Neil Gaiman book), Hocus Pocus, and The Princess Diaries would be cool!
I think Penelope would make a great musical. All the ingredients are there! Simple familiar story, fun twist, zany characters, a mum who's fabulous and horrendous in equal measure. I mean can you imagine the musical number when the rumours of a pig faced girl appear? All the town talking about it!
There is a Tangled musical that was made for the Disney Cruise Line a few years back. I think Alan Menken worked on it, and I sure hope that it has another major production someday. I love your videos, Amy!
Yes I watch it a couple times during the beginning of COVID and really liked it. And that’s right Alan Menken wrote the new songs. The only thing that was off was the casting choice for Eugen and his song wasn’t that good. If it was transferred to Broadway the sets could be wonderful.
I’ve thought about Moana becoming a musical in the past, and I think the only issue would be that a large portion of the movie is just Moana sailing around only talking to heihei and the ocean
I think a musical of the movie If I Stay with Chloé Grace Moretz would be brilliant and very emotional. If you haven’t heard about it then it’s about a girl who has a car accident with her family and she ends up being put in a coma. The movie is basically her having an out of body experience and she has to figure out whether she wants to die or come back to life and it’s such a beautiful story but it’s heartbreaking and I think about how well Ghost the musical did, that show was beautiful. I really think If I Stay would be just as gorgeous and with some of the effects that shows can do today, I really think it would be a masterpiece.
I thought Moxie (the film) was alright, nothing amazing but no issues with it but OMG it would make so much sense as a musical!! I can so picture it with how you described it! Like a Mean Girls/Legally Blonde vibe almost but more leaning into rock, it would be so good!
I’ve been saying it for years but i think The Help would be such an amazing stage musical. It would jsut fit so well and i think some beautiful music could be made for it
For some reason my first thought of a movie that could be a musical and I haven’t already seen someone say was Scott Pilgrim. I mean it already has some songs and a plot just weird enough to work.
There is a Tangled musical that was made for the Disney Cruise Line. There's also a Moana JR by the company Music Theatre International which has a ton of JR version of musicals, some of which are already musicals and others are based off of movies. There is also a musical called Juno which came out in 1959 and is based off of a play, the Juno musical has nothing to do with the movie and the story is completely different
One of my favourite films ever: Cool Runnings! I think this would be amazing on stage, already has some great songs too. Could definitely have some Jamaican influences in the music too
I think that's the only way it can be done, a serious Star Wars musical would not work but if it doesn't take itself seriously and pokes fun at itself it could be great
Sorry if this has been said already but two that come to mind are: 1. Never Been Kissed - I think if it had this turn of the century pop-ness to it, synths, maybe in the same vein as “Wedding Singer” (another Drew 90s film), and really be able to expand and maybe shift how much image and the sense of belonging, and just growing and loving as individuals; having the high schoolers seeing one another, is SO important!! There’s so much room for character development (particularly with Aldys and how she views it all). Hell even an epic flashback and Josie having a huge power ballad about just grappling with the past later in life and processing it. UGH I’d be so here for it!! 2. Encanto - again so much more room for expanding and exploring the Madrigals. I’d love to see a huge number leading up and into Antonio’s room when he earns his gift and then this huge shift of celebration into the yearning and desperation, and honestly sadness, of “Waiting On A Miracle”. Also Bruno really expressing how much he still loves his family and his secret want of just wanting to be accepted and him and Mirabel having that rich bonding moment. Also technically, HELLO, this show would put Frozen to shame, COMPLETELY!! Also the costume design and lighting… UGH “Surface Pressure” and “What Else Can I Do?” in these fantasy/metaphorical images around them like the movie… YES MA’AM!! Also Lin, even if it might be a little too much Lin these days. Love your page, Amy!! 😊♥️ - Miles L., USA

Andrew barth feldman who played evan hansen on Broadway made a star wars musical! its based on a new hope. I haven't listened to it yet, but it must be great seeing as his other songs are awesome
I love moana but after the little mermaid show maybe underwater stories dont work that good onstage 😂😂😂 besides the story is more for a quest story so I dorn think the themes are complex enough for a show. Like I can’t imagine them adding any more songs.
Its a show but I would love a Teen Wolf musical just for the mess of it all It makes NO SENSE as a musical but it would be absolutely messy and amazing
Moxie is also based on a book and they cover the punk scene in detail. A pop punk, girl power musical for the next generation of theater kids!! I would also love for The To Do List to become a musical
When you started singing 'dur da dur da' at the beginning - I thought you were going into the Jaws theme! Come to think of it - would that make a good musical? 🤣
Never thought I would see Amy promote something Star Wars related, but I'm not complaining. as someone who has loved Star Wars since I was a child, seeing more people fall in love with the world is so fantastic to me! Also I think a TV show that would be a good musical is One Tree Hill. I mean the music in the show is already iconic, so a jukebox musical would fit so well.
For me I’d love to see: The Princess Diaries Midsommar Misbehaviour- it’s a movie starring Gugu Mbatha Raw and Kiera Knightly about the true story of 1970s Miss World pageant in London where a group of female protestors stormed the stage BUT it was also the year the first woman of colour won. Sabrina- such a classic film kind of surprised no one has done it
This is one I joke about, the Irishman: the Musical. The Irishman is a Robert Scorsese mobster film, it’s hella long, but I think of just the middle part was taken out and made a musical it would be incredibly great
Would love to see Dumplin' as a musical! Although it's already a movie musical, I'd love to see Rocketman as a stage show! I think the way the some of the scenes were shot (Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting and Honky Cat) would look great on the stage.
YES for the Breakfast club!! I teach musicaltheatre to kids, and a few years back as the end of the season we made a Breakfast club musical! I made some changes bc the kids where pretty young (so instead of drugs red bull for example) but even then the themes are so good and interesting!! It really workt well!
This is such a cop out but it worked so good as a movie musical that I’d love to see how it would translate onto the stage, but I’d love to see “Rocketman” on Broadway
Not a movie, but I would kill for a Taylor Swift jukebox musical. She's a storyteller, and I think her songs lend themselves great for it. I mean, I'd also like to see her write a musical full of original songs but that's a little bit too far fetched (but then again, she's tried some stuff already with the love triangle on folklore, so who knows). Also, I'd be lying if I said I haven't attempted to write a ts jukebox musical myself haha
this made me think the parent trap would make a great musical and then i was like surely that HAS been done before and turns out it's supposed to open this year!!
I would love to see a 10 Things I Hate About You musical! Also I just wanted to say that I really appreciate your videos, Amy ♥️ You introduced me to the Finding Neverland musical and so many more, so thank you!!
Their doing a frozen Broadway style show on the cruises at present. There is a pro shot available on TH-cam. A bit like Aladdin with its spectacular show at the Disney Californian parks, hopefully they’ll give it the Broadway treatment in a few years.
I have a prepared list for this: Sabrina (1954) Mulan (1998) Million Dollar Baby (2004) Tall Tale (1995) Up In The Air (2009) The Princess Diaries (2001) Teen Beach Movie (2013) Midnight In Paris (2011) And so much more...
this is a book, but the westing game would be a fantastic musical. i also think MAYBE i would want the mysterious benedict society as a musical if i had to pick a movie i would say bedtime stories in other words, im too nostalgic
Unpopular opinion! Im so worried about the wicked movie. Loved John chu directing in crazy rich Asians. But as big fan of in the heights I felt he didn’t translate the story of the show well at all. And some scenes felt more like music videos rather than musical numbers. The wicked movie has the potential to be epic but I don’t know if John chu will be able to deliver. Steven Spielberg and Lin Manuel did better jobs directing musicals this years. I hope he surprises me
If Dumplin' had a lot of Dolly Parton songs, we wouldn't get a Dolly jukebox musical... so I'd want her to write new music. I'd also like to see something like Practical Magic turned into a musical.
I think the Before trilogy could make a great heartbreaking musical. How would it work? I don't know. Maybe one show per movie or one show integrating the 3 with 3 different couples playing Jesse and Celine in their different ages. I don't know about the logistics but I would love to see it made.
I’d love a Dumplin musical, but they need to bring back the lesbian and the disabled side character. I really liked the film until I read the book and realised they took out some of the representation, which I find especially frustrating in a movie that’s marketed for it’s representation
I’m a huge fan of the film “Stardust” with Charlie Cox and would love to see that as a musical!♥️
Oh that would be so awesome!
I need that
Also, speaking of Disney, we need an Encanto musical. I know Amy didn't like this movie, but for me it's top tier
Me too! I still can't pick a particular favorite song. It's not easy to find a particular bop when the songwriter is Lin Manual Miranda.
I can see so much they can do fof the stage version
Hercules needs to be turned into a musical asap! With some songs in Greek etc. like they do for The Lion King, I think it would be incredible
It's coming to Broadway soon! Not sure about the Greek songs, though that'd be amazing
@@olivinebranch I'll be looking forward to that. I revisited Hercules last year on the night before Valantine's on Disney Plus. It has aged pretty good

Agreed!! Especially the scene where Edward’s making the ice sculpture with Kim twirling💕
Yes!! Luv it
That could be amazing!
There's already been a ballet version
YES

I love that movie!
@@bardlover6 me too. It's my go to when I'm sick or having a bad day!
I would be open to that depending on the songwriters and creative team
There is a Tangled musical that was made for the Disney Cruise Line a few years back. I think Alan Menken worked on it, and I sure hope that it has another major production someday. I love your videos, Amy!
You can watch this on Disney parks official TH-cam channel ❤️

I loved the Tangled series more so than the movie

Moana Jr. is actually a show! Our local children's theater group did an amazing production of this and it's as beautiful as you think it should be.
I’ve thought about Moana becoming a musical in the past, and I think the only issue would be that a large portion of the movie is just Moana sailing around only talking to heihei and the ocean

Star Wars is a space opera. So obviously it should be a legit opera. Imagine what the MET could pull off, production value wise.

A Walk To Remember would be an amazing musical!
I think Cruella on Disney + would be such a good musical!
I’ve always thought that film the Terminal would work as a musical
I have a prepared list for this:
Sabrina (1954)
Mulan (1998)
Million Dollar Baby (2004)
Tall Tale (1995)
Up In The Air (2009)
The Princess Diaries (2001)
Teen Beach Movie (2013)
Midnight In Paris (2011)
And so much more...
Ooh I never thought about Up in the Air a musical. I love it!
How have they not done The Princess Diaries yet?
@@Mitali I would be open to it depending on who does the new songs
Also musicals into movie's
Batboy
this is a book, but the westing game would be a fantastic musical. i also think MAYBE i would want the mysterious benedict society as a musical
if i had to pick a movie i would say bedtime stories
in other words, im too nostalgic
All Dogs Go To Heaven as a Broadway musical
Yoooo 10 Things I Hate About You and Dumplin’ would be so good! 🔥 This is the content I’m here for tbh 🤣🎉
I hope he surprises me
Phone Booth does seem like an odd choice, but I think it would be perfect in the round.
I second, All Dogs go to Heaven. Already has great music! Costuming would be a trip!!!
Encanto is DESTINED to be a stage musical
With extra songs for Dolores and Camilo and a cute duet for Julieta and Pepa, and then Bruno starts to sing
How about a song for Felix
I would LOVE a She's the Man musical, also Easy A would be amazing
Jump was being adapted
If Dumplin' had a lot of Dolly Parton songs, we wouldn't get a Dolly jukebox musical... so I'd want her to write new music. I'd also like to see something like Practical Magic turned into a musical.
Didn't Amy have a video reacting to the Starkid show Ani?
I literally started writing a Dumplin musical with Dolly music like 5 days ago lmaoooo
Look up “off off Broadway Star Wars musical” it’s my university club kinda like starkid
There is actually a Moana JR show!! My theatre group was ment to do it in 2020 but it shut because of covid. :(
I think the Before trilogy could make a great heartbreaking musical. How would it work? I don't know. Maybe one show per movie or one show integrating the 3 with 3 different couples playing Jesse and Celine in their different ages. I don't know about the logistics but I would love to see it made.
There is a parody Star Wars musical that is fantastic, :)
I would love to see Moxie as a musical as well. It could work.
Watch Starkid’s ANI for a Star Wars musical!
