Shit like this is sadly common for Hollywood…look up the “Poltergeist Curse” or “The Dark Knight” curse. There dumb conspiracy that people make up when unfortunate stuff happens to actors who happened to show up in a movie or tv show together. But at least with the poltergeist one it was shocking because two of the younger actors (one being only 12) lost their lives between films due to a medical accident and sadly a murder while the movies were being made so that’s why people came up with the idea because it was so weird (because the first film used real dead bodies in the swimming pool for a scene) but this is just two people who passed after the show was basically over and it’s just a gross fetishized version of events to capitalize on their deaths
Lea had auditioned for Ryan already, and Ryan said he envisioned Rachel wearing clothes with animals on them, so she bought that shirt to wear to her next audition.
I watched this one on television, gagging the whole way through with only a morbid curiosity to fuel my path to the end. I was shocked (and relieved) they didn’t bring in a psychic to contact the spirits of the deceased cast members. God knows they would’ve if they’d thought of it. Welcome back Amy!!!
@@AmyLovatt1 Thank you for reviewing this “documentary” (implying any of the info in there was worth documenting) for people so they don’t have to give it any more attention. The publicity given to the “curse” feels dehumanizing in its purest form imo. I always think of the old show “Bewitched”: in the first couple seasons, two older women (Alice Pearce and Marion Lorne) passed away and one’s character was replaced. Was Bewitched cUrSed? Nah, actors are human and we die 💀
The fact that they tried to connect Naya's death to Glee is so disgusting. She died a hero and if anything, this documentary tried to exploit her and Cory's deaths
i know lea isn’t the greatest human on earth, but them partly blaming her for the death of the love of her life is so low and disgusting, she was shattered when cory died
They never blamed her for his death, nor was he the love of her life. They dated for just a year and a half. Fans act like they were together for multiple years and lie about them being engaged. His mom not only confirmed that they weren't engaged, she said the relationship wasn't what it seemed and basically implied that he wanted to break up with her. If anything, the doc went easier on Lea than I expected. If they really wanted to blame Lea for his death then they would've shown the pictures of her drinking at hockey games with him, proving that she was well aware that he broke his sobriety and even condoned it. I would never say Lea is to blame for Cory's death but to claim that she was an amazing influence on his sobriety is simply incorrect. If my boyfriend almost died from an overdose at 15 years old I would never in a million years feel comfortable kicking back and drinking with him. That's crazy behavior.

Hi welcome back! I've missed your videos, I literally didn't know there was a documentary of Glee and this has shocked me. After watching your video about it, I actually feel sick about what was in that supposed "documentary".
@@dr.little7311 For sure! To me she's the standout among the original group of kids, but that's not to diminish anybody. Harry Shum Jr was great in Everything Everywhere All At Once; I'd have given him the award before Jamie Lee lol
I am both happy and mad ("mad") that you mentioned Kevin and Jenna's podcast. Happy because I had no idea this exists and I'm excited to listen to it, but mad because I'm trying to cut down on podcasts NOT ADD MORE!!!
So they say that it's Lea Michele's fault that Corey died and that she didn't care about him huh? I collect her albums and she wrote two songs for Corey explaining how in one song she was devastated that he died called If You Say So. Then the song, Hey You, shows her telling his ghostly spirit that she's doing alright but she misses him terribly still. If that's not caring I honestly don't know what is! Coincidences also happen in real life when someone from a movie or TV show keeps on dying constantly. It has nothing to do with curses it's just bad luck is all. :(
They never said it was her fault that he died. They simply questioned whether she was a good influence on him or not. I think that's fair given the way she is known to treat people. If they really wanted to make Lea look bad they could've shown the pictures of her drinking with him at hockey games, proving she was aware that he broke his sobriety and was fine with it.
I watched it too and they never said that, only that she was a difficult person. The girl in the video completely distorted and exaggerated lots of points. And they constantly said they didn't believe or like the idea of "glee's curse", they mentioned because lots of internet users still use this term. They simply pointed all all deaths and scandals regarding people involved in the show, not necessarily blaming the show. Of course, some parts like when discussing Cory's death they said that the show COULD have been a stressor to his mental health, same to other people like producers who comitted sue*cide, but they never said it was the show's fault like the girl in the video affirmed
it’s sad that they even felt comfortable alluding to her being the cause. i know she’s been the bud of the joke lately but this is just not ok. it’s disrespectful to cory and lea. Addiction is a disease. We don’t know these people and it’s literally no one’s business about what happened. it’s embarrassing that they thought people would like this esp fans of glee. like what.
Glee fans aren't aware that Lea knew about Cory's relapse and participated in drinking with him and it shows. I would never blame her for his death but she was definitely not a good influence on his sobriety. The documentary sucked but they never alluded to her being the cause of his death. They simply questioned her influence on him, very briefly.
I was thinking of paying for a month to watch this documentary, but thank you for changing my mind about it. I may still watch it, but it wouldn’t be to watch it seriously. It’s disgraceful how they’ve treated the cast and crew with everything they’ve done.
There's no point in watching it, they've just rehashed information the public have known for years and dramatised it. It's exploitative and disgusting. You'd be better off listening to jenna and Kevin's podcast as they're the ones who really went through it
To truly suggest there’s a “Glee curse”, or even that the show had a working environment that was UNIQUE in contributing to premature, unnatural death among the cast and crew, one would need to compare it to other shows with similar age casts, and amount of people working, and see how many of those shows’ had deaths in that same number of years during and after the show. My cousin apparently believes in the so-called “curse” and it is very disappointing.
I remember seeing the trailer for this show a few months ago and feeling sick just watching that. I don't know how you managed to get through the whole thing, but thank you for your service.
now just imagine my face when I was scrolling on tiktok and saw a clip from the documentary where they used a video from my channel... Throughout the first episode there are several videos with my channel's logo, and I can't do ANYTHING about it 😑

It's so good to see that people say that now they have watched your video they're not going to watch the documentary. The people who make and distribute programmes like this will only get the message if their product doesn't get views!
It’s good to see you again Amy! Thank you so much for this. As a Gleek I had no intention of watching but was curious where they were going to go. You confirmed exactly what I thought. Sad.
I was hoping a video was coming after I saw your instagram!! Glad to have you back. I thought about watching it, but figured it would have all this garbage in it. Thanks for taking one for the team.
i admit that when they showed that clip of Mark saying that he was the worst guy freaked me out, and blaming Cory's death on lea and glee, sorry, that's just plain bull.
absolutely infuriated by the sensationalism of the tragedies that just so happened to link back to glee. the disrespect to the lives lost and people affected is awful. great video! ❤
I was curious to watch it acouple days ago but backed out, it felt wrong. I watched the show with my daughter who will be 27yrs old this year and also I was in a tragic drowning accident as a teenager so Naya's passing felt extra personal to me. Glee has a special place in my heart and the tragedies make us curious but yeah, the documentary feels wrong to me.
not a glee fan but i am a fan of a famous celebrity that died tragically young, i am so disgusted at the narrative they tried to pull for cory's death. everything you said about it resonated with me, thank you for calling them out on the ways they disrespect his story, it truly hit home for me too
They are really out here like "oh wow the curse of H2O. Every person in history who has ever consumed the chemical H2O died eventually. Some even died tragically. Therefore H2O curses and kills you"
They took a month off, not a week. Then they filmed the Beatles episodes and The Quarterback, and then took another month off. That’s why season 5 was shorter. Also, Diana was in the EU making a movie so she couldn’t be there when they did The Quarterback.
I appreciate your sacrifice in making this video - and I’m definitely avoiding the documentary. The whole thing just sounds dishonest, like some weird conspiracy theory kind of thing - as if they decided on a narrative they liked beforehand, and were going to stick to it in any way they felt they could. It just comes across as disrespectful and, frankly, disgusting.
Thanks for doing this - I do admit I was curious but didn't want to support the documentary. I'll never forget when I found out about Cory's death - it was utterly heartbreaking and devastating. Sad to see this exploitation
I'm happy you took the time off that you needed and excited to have you back. Thank you for watching this mess so nome of us had to give them the views they don't deserve.
Thank you for the summary! I was curious, but didn't want to watch it. As a thank you, here's a nice behind-the-scenes tidbit from my time working background on the second half of the show- when there were make-a-wish kids hidden in crowd scenes, either Kevin or Chris always took the time to really go talk to them and their families when there was down time. You might think that's standard on sets, but not really. Almost all the main cast were really nice too. I won't say who wasn't, but I think y'all already know.
Such a champion watching that documentary! Once I heard the title and then many cast members spoke about how no main cast or crew members were involved, I knew this would be bad. Then adding Nia, who died in a complete accident, not related in any way possible to Glee or any mental health issues she might have had in relation to Glee I will admit I am one of the people who were curious but knew I wasn't going to watch it.
Wow I did not know they made a disrespectful documentary and it’s even more surprising that it’s actually on Discovery+ like so many people had to watch this and give it a green light for it to be streaming on there. Wth
you know a small youtuber is gonna make a great point in a video when the video is out of focus the whole time-- lol, but seriously, great points and thankyou even though i am a year late to it
Like the sheer amount of people who worked on glee like surely it's not statistically outragous for all these tradgedies to have occured in to same team? Like percentage wise? (This is not to take away from the losses but from the idea there some curse)
I had already no intention of watching it but I had completely forgotten it even was a thing 💀 I'm glad you made a video though, so you confirmed my assumption that it was just a waste of time an something made in poor taste. Like you said, I actually thing there is a lot of material for a documentary about glee. Between the cultural impact it had and all that went down behind the scenes there would be a lot to talk about but I doubt it will ever happen.
Hi! Just want to put it out there (in case I missed a comment somewhere) that Lea wore that outfit to that audition because she felt like it was very Rachel Berry. She also got into a car accident driving to the lot where the audition was so she was pulling glass out of her hair during the audition as well. I don't remember where she's told that story but I know she said it in an interview somewhere. She also said in the same interview that the whole "Start from the beginning/Wrong Key" thing was her playing as Rachel, but we all know that was aaaaaaalllll Lea. Edit: Did they mention anything about Becca Tobin's boyfriend as well? He died while the show was still going on and Lea took her in when all of that was going on. He died like almost a year to the day after Cory died. I wonder if they decided to exploit his death in this as well.
I appreciate you throwing yourself on this dumpster fire for us- I am one of the ones that was morbidly curious but I didn't want to give them the view, I'd rather give it to you!
I think it’s really sick for them to suggest Lea Michele is responsible in any way for Cory’s death. Like, I know she’s not the most pleasant person to work with, but it doesn’t make her responsible. If even a person who notably did not enjoy working with her, in Naya, is only able to impart positive stories about her relationship with Cory, that says enough. Plus, I noted that Cory’s relapse with alcohol was connected to a MALE co-star, who told him to have a drink if he wanted to, bc he was there to support him - also not necessarily their fault, he probably felt that he could support him and keep him from relapsing and didn’t realise quite how addiction works. Putting anything on Lea is so wrong and leaves such a sour taste in the mouth, bc it’s straight up character assassination from ppl who clearly just don’t like her as a person.
Also pulling up Naya’s toxicology report is gross bc that information is out there, anyway. She had anxiety medication and negligible alcohol blood content. It would’ve had no effect on her state at the time of her death. What happened? She likely encountered a rip current and had to fight against it. By all accounts, Naya was happy and having a day out with her son and it became a tragedy but she saved her son before she died. That’s not a curse, it’s not a mystery, it’s a fucking tragic accident and speculating on any of it is gross bc this is very real trauma for their family and friends.
There are pictures of Lea drinking with him at hockey games, so at the very least she was aware of his relapse and condoning of it. I'm not blaming Lea but it is not wrong to say she wasn't a good influence on his sobriety. And no one said it was a male co-star. They said it was a co-star that Cory loved, meaning it very well could've been Lea.

Oh my god really?! I didn’t know that!!!
That’s quite funny tbh
I watched this one on television, gagging the whole way through with only a morbid curiosity to fuel my path to the end. I was shocked (and relieved) they didn’t bring in a psychic to contact the spirits of the deceased cast members. God knows they would’ve if they’d thought of it. Welcome back Amy!!!
Omg right?! I literally said, when is the psychic coming on?!
@@AmyLovatt1 Thank you for reviewing this “documentary” (implying any of the info in there was worth documenting) for people so they don’t have to give it any more attention. The publicity given to the
“curse” feels dehumanizing in its purest form imo.
@@goldrush18x people did blame her, if you had access to the internet in 2013 a lot of people did blame her for his death
@@iimidnightsii but the documentary did not, unlikely what the girl in the video said, the simply suggested that she was a difficult person (sorry for my english). I didn't like the documentary but the girl in the video distorted and exaggerated a lot
@@pinkmango_ i just mean overall throughout the media that people did, and you don’t have t apologize for your english!
Hi welcome back! I've missed your videos, I literally didn't know there was a documentary of Glee and this has shocked me. After watching your video about it, I actually feel sick about what was in that supposed "documentary".
On the subject of a lot of the Glee actors being has-beens...let's not forget Amber Riley is THRIVING. 💖👑
Toooooooo true!
So is Harry Shum Jr, Melissa Benoist, Grant Gustin, etc. A lot of them are doing pretty well. But Ms. Riley is killing it rn
@@dr.little7311 For sure! To me she's the standout among the original group of kids, but that's not to diminish anybody. Harry Shum Jr was great in Everything Everywhere All At Once; I'd have given him the award before Jamie Lee lol
So is Chris Colfer. NYT best selling author.
@@leah6820-y9v Amy mentioned that in the video
Also, there were psychologists hired so that the cast could grieve properly over Cory Monteiths passing.
I am both happy and mad ("mad") that you mentioned Kevin and Jenna's podcast. Happy because I had no idea this exists and I'm excited to listen to it, but mad because I'm trying to cut down on podcasts NOT ADD MORE!!!
Omg it’s soooooo good though!!
@@AmyLovatt1 I'm definitely checking it out, I have the first episode downloaded so I don't forget it. I just have to find the time 😫
So they say that it's Lea Michele's fault that Corey died and that she didn't care about him huh?
Melissa is the only one who's managed to book a big role on TV since.. She's Supergirl!!!
You summed it up perfectly at the start; Shane Dawson's School of Documentaries.
it’s sad that they even felt comfortable alluding to her being the cause. i know she’s been the bud of the joke lately but this is just not ok. it’s disrespectful to cory and lea.
Thank you so much for doing this. I wanted to know what this “documentary” was about but didn’t want to give them the view/money to watch it
I was thinking of paying for a month to watch this documentary, but thank you for changing my mind about it. I may still watch it, but it wouldn’t be to watch it seriously. It’s disgraceful how they’ve treated the cast and crew with everything they’ve done.
i def wouldn't pay for it. if anyone wants to watch it properly for whatever reason, i'd pirate it.
There's no point in watching it, they've just rehashed information the public have known for years and dramatised it. It's exploitative and disgusting. You'd be better off listening to jenna and Kevin's podcast as they're the ones who really went through it
We love a comeback! And a Glee comeback at that.
And that’s what I missed…
Throughout the first episode there are several videos with my channel's logo, and I can't do ANYTHING about it 😑
Oh god that's awful. Was is the bts footage cause I knew that they had found that footage somewhere of youtube. If only there was a way you could sue 😭
Sad.
I watched it out of curiosity and as it went on it just felt icky and the fact that there was not one in it from the actual cast was a major red flag.
I already chose not to watch this documentary and now I'm even more glad I've stuck to that.
Same you could tell its a shit mess from the trailer and given the fact the cast spoke against it definitely not
Thank you for taking one for the team because this sounds vile and the fewer people who watch it, the better. Lovely to have you back! 🖤
absolutely infuriated by the sensationalism of the tragedies that just so happened to link back to glee. the disrespect to the lives lost and people affected is awful. great video! ❤
Perfect analysis, no notes, well done love. Thank you for your service 💞
Welcome back Amy! Loved your perspective on this. The whole “documentary” gave me the ick.
I'm happy you took the time off that you needed and excited to have you back. Thank you for watching this mess so nome of us had to give them the views they don't deserve.
♥️🥰
Thank you for the summary! I was curious, but didn't want to watch it. As a thank you, here's a nice behind-the-scenes tidbit from my time working background on the second half of the show- when there were make-a-wish kids hidden in crowd scenes, either Kevin or Chris always took the time to really go talk to them and their families when there was down time. You might think that's standard on sets, but not really.
Almost all the main cast were really nice too. I won't say who wasn't, but I think y'all already know.
You're the hero we needed 💜💜
Such a champion watching that documentary! Once I heard the title and then many cast members spoke about how no main cast or crew members were involved, I knew this would be bad. Then adding Nia, who died in a complete accident, not related in any way possible to Glee or any mental health issues she might have had in relation to Glee
I will admit I am one of the people who were curious but knew I wasn't going to watch it.
I missed this channel! Thank you for an entertaining video
Thank yooooooou ♥️♥️♥️
From what I saw with the trailer, the documentary seems very exploitive and horribly twisted
Wow I did not know they made a disrespectful documentary and it’s even more surprising that it’s actually on Discovery+ like so many people had to watch this and give it a green light for it to be streaming on there. Wth
I was just thinking yesterday how much I missed your content! Glad you're back, but take time off as much as you need!
Thank you ♥️♥️♥️
you know a small youtuber is gonna make a great point in a video when the video is out of focus the whole time--
lol, but seriously, great points and thankyou even though i am a year late to it
Like the sheer amount of people who worked on glee like surely it's not statistically outragous for all these tradgedies to have occured in to same team? Like percentage wise? (This is not to take away from the losses but from the idea there some curse)
I didn’t know there was a Glee documentary, but glad that I’m getting a recap from you, so I don’t have to sit & watch it.
Well hellooooo! Glad you’re back. Thank you for continuing to entertain us ❤
Great to see you back!
Glad you’re back
Thank you for your service Amy❤❤
Amy I love you and your content, you're such a ball of sunshine. Thank you for your service on explaining this documantry to us❣
i watched the documentary and felt sick the whole time. You could tell it was a cash grab. It made me so angry and sad.
Thank you for watching this for me. I was so morbidly curious but I didn't want to give them the satisfaction.
I personally hate these curse theories on film sets. They do this with the Poltergeist trilogy. When in reality it’s bad luck, health, and tragedies.
And the so-called Diff'rent Strokes curse, as if doing the show is what killed Gary Coleman and Dana Plato.
Harry was in Everything Everywhere all at once!!
Omg was he!! I’m planning on watching it this weekend!!
Good to have Grey's success 🙌
Happy to see you back:)
So thrilled to see you're back! Thank you for watching this mess so we don't have to.

Thank you for making this! I was gonna watch this documentary but now I’m definitely not going to, it sounds terrible! Lovely to have you back
I love your Glee videos and this was no exception!
Thank you so much!!!
