    The supposed tragedy of wheels falling off never resulted in an actual owner wheels falling off. It was a manufacturing issue caught while reviewers were beating on the vehicles for review. It was fixed over a year ago and had nothing whatsoever to do with the EV propulsion system.

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Exactly. Wheels broke off of customers' Teslas and some other BEVs, not the bZ4X.

      Are you saying no vehicles were in owners’ hands when the situation was found. If so, I am wondering why a recall would need to have been made?

    • @john1701a
      @john1701a 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@davehickey2293 The situation was 3 loose wheels had been detected. That's all. None actually fell off. It took few months to figure out there was an actual problem and what the particular circumstances were to cause the loosening. At that point, a small number of deliveries had taken place. Think about how long it took for GM to recall Bolt. Toyota's halt response was significantly faster. The fix was rolled out over a year ago. Bringing it up now is like beating a dead horse, especially since it was unrelated to use of electricity.

      @@davehickey2293 even if it didn’t occur with an actual owner, if the problem was discovered at the dealership or even during some pre delivery inspection, they’d recall them in order to PREVENT it from happening to an actual customer. About 22 years ago Ford had us to replace the lug nuts on f150s for the same problem. But when the trucks were brought to us to perform the recall, I can’t recall any of them actually being loose. But evidently it happened enough for them to realize that it was caused by defective lug nuts.

    If you are talking about efficiency, combined hgwy+city in SUV category. Only Tesla Model Y(AWD, Long Range AWD, RWD) gets more Le/km. If you are looking at whole bev category then only Lucid air touring and pure, Ioniq 6, Model Y and 3 are the only ones more efficient than this/bz4x. They match Model S, EV6, Bolt EV and EUV. It still more efficient than ID4, Ioniq 5, Model X, Mach E and everything from BMW and Audi.

    My concern here is that the BZ4X is the ONLY EV product that Toyota offers, while they have many Hybrid vehicles. Is that a sign of the times? I am looking at either a Kona or Corolla Cross Hybrid next year when my current Kona lease is up (2024-25 model year). I would prefer a hybrid as then I don't have to pay an electrician to install my own charger and maybe pay $$$ to upgrade my home circuit box to handle the extra 240V charging system (but I have solar roof panels, so my kWh are Green energy).

    • @lemongavine
      @lemongavine 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Have you considered charging off of a regular 120v wall outlet? My Kona gains 5 miles per hour doing that which gives me 60 miles overnight. Unless your commute is a lot more than that, you should have enough buffer to get by without the need of an electrician service upgrade. A lot of people charge their cars this way.

      CH-R and UX300e are available in other markets. The joint-venture in China with BYD has resulted in bZ3. We know Toyota is setting up production in Kentucky for bZ5X And we have already seen a few candidates for bZ3X, not to mention the electric pickup Toyota just revealed at the Tokyo Motor show. It looks more and more like the impatience of enthusiasts with both Toyota and the market instead (many infrastructure shortcomings in United States) is really the problem. It's a matter of batteries & chargers catching up. Meanwhile, Toyota is refining their software and avoiding the supply/demand issues others now face.

      btw, we ran 2 new lines in our garage 6.5 years ago for our plug-in hybrids. Getting a $500 rebate for each and time-of-use discount really softened the expense bite. Since then, one of the PHEV got replaced with a BEV... without any need to upgrade anything at home. It is an investment that keeps on giving and should for many years to come.

    • @dmandman9
      @dmandman9 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To determine if you need to upgrade your electrical system, just see how many amps your main breaker is. Most modern homes can deal with an additional 30-50 amp breaker. It’s no more than adding an additional water heater or electric range.

    Lumping bZ4X into the same category as other crossovers isn't useful. Notice how much larger and higher it is compared to others, like Kona? Also, the off-road abilities Subaru shouldn't be downplayed. Many reviewers noted how impressive that design is.

    Toyota don't want a repeat of 2009 with claims of unwanted acceleration resulting in millions of recalled vehicles. Imagine stupid drivers crashing in their Toyotas equiped with lots of driver aids and blaming Toyota and Toyota is a juicy target, that's just a guess by the way. Maybe the aids consume additional energy that further reduces the not so impressive range and or to keep the price down.

    This is a toy car. I am very sad to buy this car because its only problem is charging. First of all it takes long time to charge if 50% charged with level 3 it will take 2 hours 30 minutes. Then you have to keep the car at full stop which you have to suffer in extreme cold, heat. After that if you turn on the heat and AC then you can run the car for one hundred miles. So don't waste your time and money buying this car. thank you

      @@john1701a Watched a video of BZ4X with the update on the Bjørn Nyland channel and its better but still not very good. I wanted Toyota to come in and do so well and show how to make an EV. Instead you find out the best people making EV's are those that have been making them for the last decade. The learning curve is large and the big auto makers are an embarrassment to actual innovation. EV's coming out from Tesla and BYD are just better cars. As battery tech improves these EV's are going to improve in a big way. CATL's latest release Shenxing seems like it may be a winner as its already in cars. Will see how that goes. If the power to weight ratio is correct, Tesla will go 400 miles without increasing the KWh in the pack due to the weight reduction. Toyota is promising a new battery maybe in 2026. LOL who will care.

    • @enriquecomemierda4745
      @enriquecomemierda4745 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gemini-mg6sc , I would love to be in the meeting when this idiotic idea of Hydrogen fuel cell was born. Did they not learn the lesson when they jumped into LNG. LNG was supposed to be big and it did not catch on. Biggest reason was the lack of investment in infrastructure.
      The reason EVs will win is that, unlike hydrogen, they have a massive Tesla network. Tesla invested $500 from every car sold directly into building the charging network. They have not allowed down and continue to increase the locations and the number of charging stations.
      Now with licensing of third parties like BP and others, there is no stopping Tesla superchargers.
      Hydrogen does not stand a chance with cars. I do think it has a future with cargo ships. Making hydrogen with excess capacity from wind and solar and using it for ocean transport is a win win.
