I bought a bZ4X in October last year. We drove it through the Norwegian winter, and now the clock shows 7.000 km. Not once I had to go to the dealership. It's my wife's daily driver. Before going home in the afternoon she preheat the car. After 20 minutes she just go down, start the car and drives home to her lovely husband. I heard all the horror stories about the flat 12V battery. I bought a handy boosterpack. Not once have i used it - exept on neighbours and friends cars. It's extremely comfortable to drive. The seats are nearly as good as my Lexus. It's spacious, but the coupe design limits packing the boot in the hight. The AWD is perfect for snowy winters. The range is sufficient to our needs. We have a cottage in Denmark. We get there with no problems, even in minus 20 degrees. Motor journalists can't open their mouths without trashing it. I don't care. They can just buy a Tesla, and life is good.....or is it? It seems as if I'm not the only one that doesn't give a s... about motorjournalists. It's as far the next best selling electric car in Norway in 2024.

@@軍曹-n6j Was the car locked? I have read that unless you lock the car, it keeps looking for your key to enable/disable start. I heard that this was fixed in software and 24 models shouldn't have this issue anymore.

To all the gripers and complainers: you have been listening to much to other complainers ;-) I know it had a difficult birth, but it is a great car. Not perfect but many great qualities! I know, the range could have been better. However, the battery size makes it lighter than many EV's and in a winter comparison with many of the most sold EV's in Norway it was the best on snow&ice conditions and in steep hills. And in the braking test it stopped 2 car lengths shorter than the second best. I drive a 2020 Rav4 Plug in which I love but today I ordered a BZ4X after having one home for 24 hours. It had an awesome grip, was smooth and stable, fun and enjoyable. It is not perfect of course but far from a half-hearted attempt on a EV. So Toyota is making the right choice, about 30% EV's and the rest Hybrids and other versions of ICE's. Just to put things into perspective.
I have to comment because I have one on order (FWD Motion)! Why? It rides and handles very well. The video states this but most people seem to have missed that bit. Its spacious and the boot is big enough (Ikea trips / golf clubs / luggage for 4 adullts) . Motion trim has electric seats with loads of adjustment (and lumbar) which I found to very comfortable. There is a 10 year warranty on the battery. The FWD model with 18inch wheels is not as bad for efficiency as the AWD and I don't do many motorway miles anyway so not an issue. The performance is ..well great actually. When did 0-60 in 7 secs become 'underpowered'?!. Plenty for almost every situation. And finally price - I got a great monthly deal. A Tesla model Y is a better car but was 180 a month more and I wasn't prepared to pay that. The only cars on the same monthly deal were the BYD Atto 3 (smaller, weird interior, terrible seats) and MG 4 (Too small, cheap feeling). Yes there are better cars but I couldn't find one of this size at the monthly price point I wanted to pay. I also admit that it has its foibles / annoyances, but I feel every car these days has (no indicator stalks on a tesla..?!) . There you go - the case for the defence.
Totally agree I've had mine for 2 month, but I took the AWD, with highst available trim level. The Model Y is faster, and if you buy the LR you will get 25 km longer range, compared to yours.
2013 Style trim level, 2WD. Had mine for 9 months. My/our (family car) has front window heating, and I can start preheat in my app. Works perfect for me. Yes, it has issues with winter charging speed and winter range, but I don't go roadtripping in the winter.
Because of Aria. They sing songs about Aria now. Dont they? Dont be upset, toyota sells herself without car journoulists, and her compatitors know it. So what you expect from them.? :-) Let them sell other less reliable cars:-))))). Anyway, Also thinking about byuing BZ4X AWD, here, in Belarus, we have them for 30k USD for resident buyers. Nice price. 50k - a lot for her, because of range and size. She Is realy small car for SUV.
Erm i picked up my bz4x and i the app allows me to pre heat or cool the car? Also not a box? there is a button under the armrest that opens it? Not great review
It's worth noting you CAN PREHEAT the bZ4X. I have it set on the app to start at 8:30 every morning. I believe there's 2 versions of the Toyota app available. The newest one is the one you'll need to support that feature. It should be black with a Toyota badge as opposed to the red app that says MyT
@@trowdwp that's unfair. Reviewers are briefed by the vehicle manufacturer's marketing department; Tom probably used the app he was instructed to use by Toyota.
Thanks for a pretty good review. I am 165cm tall (about 5' 5"). I had no problem seeing the speed and instruments. I used the electrically adjustable seat to raise the seat height. Easy.
7:16 So, You have a car for a few weeks and can’t find the huge space in the center console under the arm rest? Also, you don’t know why doesn’t glove compartment?
Toyota made this car poor on purpose. They don't want to sell you a pure electric car, they want you to buy one of their hybrids which are sitting in a field waiting to be purchased. Toyoda even said again that he doesn't think electric is the way. Meanwhile, the model y is the best selling car.
I don't know if it's deliberately crap but it's certainly lackluster and half hearted. Toyota's ambivalence and outright FUD about electric cars is well known so I wonder why they made this car at all, but perhaps it's to prove they can make something even if it is in low quantities and costs too much for anyone to want to buy.

Just to be fair, the car has pre heating through the app and it works Great, including the heated windshield. There seem to be some regional differences but my one works as advetised, except stated wltp range in the cold as mentioned. It could be better but i knew that going in. That Siri debacle is truly wired but I have never experienced it. The placement of automatic high beam is to me an advantage. My wife has absolutely no idea how it works which was an issue in my old car, she was using it as an on/off switch with terrible results. Now she can’t find the button and it stays on by default so for me its a great safety feature 😁 Opinions will differ but I like the car. Is no Tesla, thankfully.
Thats a very pleasant video. Cant say the same for BZ4X, I haven't seen one completely positive review of this car. There was no need for an AWD system when the efficiency takes such a hit.
Just to put it in perspective these start at a smidge under £43k, which is 3 grand more than a Tesla Model 3. More than a Volvo EX 30 or a Skoda Enyaq, or a Nissan Ariya, or a Hyundai Kona. It's not as good as any of those cars.
It all depends on how to buy it. On a lease I got a great deal and it was cheaper than all of the cars you mention as well as being usefully bigger than some (EX30 / Kona) and miles cheaper than a Model 3. Full list price wise I would agree with you though
I don't know what you are talking about. I have front window heating on my 2023 Bz4x. I have the medium packet, Style. Active is the budget, and Executive is the most spec'd. Also, I got 2WD. Works wonderful for me. Regarding the rest of the objections, I agree. Though I don't do roadtrips in the winter, so the winter range is no problem to me. I recommend this car, but not for everyone.
Thanks Tom - I learned to drive in a Toyota and still remember fondly driving it on the country roads between my home town in Scotland and the town that had our nearest test centre. Been a bit frustrating waiting on the great Japanese brands like Honda and Toyota to come out with fully electric cars that are good to drive (thinking back to the CRX and Supra that were around when I was learning). So are you recommending the new Taycan for Aunty Beryl ? :P
I like my BZ4X and have just driven it from Devon to French Alps and back. I have Motion FWD so longer range that AWD. Bit of misinformation also Tom - you can preheat from the app so draining 12v battery when defrosting should never happen. Only problem I encountered, you must ensure charger is firmly and squarely pushed in on car otherwise car fails to charge.
I've never owned a e-car but the battery in my Auris touring sport drains by literally everything. It almost mandatory to have my jumpstarter with me if it's cold outside...
I'm not sure how Toyota, a massive company with huge resources, could have gotten their first BEV so wrong. Genuinely it's almost like they did it deliberately!
Sorry. About the flat 12 volt battery. It died because it was trying to preheat the main battery in just the amount of time it took to scrape the wind screen? Did I get that right?
This seems strange. However if you are defrosting an ICE car you don't do it without the engine on. Maybe the car should have been in ready mode so the main battery was engaged rather than just the 12v?
>>> I had a Yaris hybrid - left it unused for 2 weeks and it wouldn’t start as the 12V battery was flat; happened again and then found out this is a known problem.
The reason for the front instrument panel's location is the fact, that this car was going to have a yoke instead of a wheel. It didn't get approved, so they put a wheel on it. My 2c is: I live at the end of a dirt road and I find myself often on bad/bumpy/slow/dirt/mud roads. I also drive super small distances, the longest I drive is about 140km round trip about twice a month, and in tropical weather. So for these conditions it will be perfect.
After update is not 3x times, its 266% (164 kWh) in 24h. And that's minimum 500 miles in cold on motorway in 24h. With UK motorway average speed around 50-55 mph (on lucky day), thats 10 hours of driving non-stop or 12h with charging. Could be exhausting... Not even bother calculating summer with traffic-UK to small for this :)
But at least you have the 1 million kilometers warranty to be happy about. 😂. That must be the number 1 selling point when people try to sell it again😂
A good review Tom. The BZ4x and its Solterra twin have always felt like half-hearted efforts from Toyota. It’s certainly not a car I’d recommend or put on my shortlist.
Even with a hiccup, I’d still pick the bZ4X. It's a comfortable, eco-friendly, and practical choice. Toyota is known for making long-lasting vehicles, and this one is no different!
i have the vision awd coming on 12th march. i tried the 22 plate demo model and i was upset it doesn't have wireless android auto and the usb needed to run android auto makes my phone not fit the centre compartment. i hope they updated it to wireless as the wireless charging is perfect
Is that correct - a car with a whopping great battery can't be pre-heated/de-frosted unless connected to charging? Is the car servant to the owner or vice versa?
Toyota spent the last 15 years spreading FUD about EVs and lies about "self-charging" hybrids instead of developing facilities to manufacture BEVs. And results are really on display - 98% of their vehicles are still ICE and their EV efforts are so far expensive and terrible.
This is apparently a very common issue which Toyota did their best to try & ignore. Same thing afflicted my sister-in-laws car. Dealer tried telling her she did not drive it enough or for long enough (she used it every day- just like her previous Toyota which she had for 12 years! ) After multiple jump starts, Toyota finally fitted a more powerful 12v battery (Ah) and been fine ever since.
I really think Toyota/Subaru have messed up with their EV’s. Underpowered, 204hp 2 wheel or 218 hp for AWD! Piss poor range, quite shocking to see those numbers. Poor charge times from the paltry 7/150 KW. They really need to look at their pricing structure, £52K and £55K for the Subaru, they will need to cut the price by quite a bit as no one is going to take this first effort seriously. So many better options to choose from, why would you buy one of these?
Having bought Toyota's for myself and the wife over the last 15 years. I have never been so disappointed and ended up buying my first ev elsewhere. PS I broke my diesel Auris or it broke after 2 years suffering from catastrophic engine failure. That being said the engine was a BMW one.
The beeping on closing the bot is nothing compared to my Hyundai Ioniq 5. Mine beeps 3 times when it opens and beeps 3 times when i closed it. And the beeps are a abnoxiously loud. I don't understand the warnings. I know I'm closing the bot I was the one who pushed it.
I had a bz4x for 4 months as it was an absolute bargain monthly fee through the works ev scheme. It's not a car I can recommend. The pure model I had was quite a rough ride on country roads and the driver alert for steering on motorways was excessive. I would always have both hands on the wheel, with the car doing an excellent job keeping it firmly in the centre of the lane, but it felt the need to tell me that I had to unnecessarily jiggle the steering wheel or it would turn off Lane assist. Completely mental. Oh and the range in winter was abysmal
Now Toyota have admitted they don’t see electric cars as the full solution to our future mobility needs, they’re creating cars to really emphasise their point of view 😅… absolute rubbish.
I doubt it. The cars are identical for the most part. Only difference will be in the 4 wheel drive system as Subaru won’t be available in 2 wheel drive. Subaru only have two models to choose from and their base model is £50K.
Amazing miss to have no pre-heating. My ancient Lexus IS had a brilliant "snow" button, it worked well in the beast from the east. I'd love an electric version of my old Lexus. But not any time soon.
The 4wd drives on the front wheels only if it doesn't need the rear wheels, but in turns or slippery road the rear motor engages and the front motor reduces the juice ;-)
Yes I had the 12v battery run out on my 2020 Corolla 2.0 Hybrid. I had the keys in my pocket while I was cleaning it. Toyota could not get it to recharge. They replaced it under warranty.
>>> I had a Yaris hybrid - left it unused for 2 weeks and it wouldn’t start as the 12V battery was flat; happened again and then found out this is a known problem.
Truly a dreadful car... expensive, underpowered, shockingly low range, plus ugly. Even my FAR CHEAPER Citroën E-C4 has better range and can preheat the car... Oh and I've never broken the Citroën or drained the battery.
The latest what car review of the Citroen says real world range of 140miles so far less than the BZ4X. The BZ4X is fwd does 0-62 in 7.5 seconds which is plenty quick enough, where as the Citroen is 10 secs which is gutless. The app does allow pre heating just this reviewer was using the old app. Looks are subjective, I like the look of the BZ4X and lots of people do. I bet you have never been in the Toyota. The Toyota has far more room and a bigger boot than the Citroen and has very comfortable seats it also handles well for an eclectic car. A lot of the reviews regarding range are the awd with the catl battery, the fwd has a Panasonic battery and gets well over 200 miles even in the winter. Short term reviews of cars tend to be very different from an ownership prospective. I’ve owned many prestige cars and the Toyota is far from a dreadful car. As for the price it’s not in the same league as the Citroen so of course it costs more but when compared to the VAG group cars I preferred the Toyota. Electric cars can filter the power in different ways, a 286bhp VAG electric car filters the power in where as the Toyota has full power from the start so when driving them the acceleration isn’t to different. I suggest people try things before making statements based on online reviews.
@matthewstatham3422 Obviously, the BZ4X is bigger. And I have test driven it. External is OK although I prefer the Nissan EV externally. But I don't like the price of either the Nissan or the Toyota. As for that money I would prefer the Model Y. But in UK the Model Y has higher insurance. They all have pros and cons. I find the Toyota has more cons. However, you don't. Which is great... At least you can buy one .
@@mikadavies660 if you drove the Toyota I’m surprised you found it gutless as I had a Volvo V60 D5 and its no faster than the Toyota. How can you find a car that does 0-62 in 7.5 gutless yet be ok with the Citroen which is 10 secs to 60.
@matthewstatham3422 I didn't say it was gutless compared to my Citroën.... I said for a £50k car with two motors it is gutless. In driving on the road the Citroën, Peugeot, Vauxhall, Megane, Polestar, Toyota and Nissan are all adequate for day to day driving. But if you are buying a high spec, twin motor, 4 wheel drive EV. You would expect a bit of get up and go! It doesn't need to be 500bhp... Skoda Enyak VRS at 300bhp feels OK and is a similar monthly payment to the top spec BZ4X.
@@mikadavies660 the twin motors are more for the purpose of off roading as it’s considered one of the few electric vehicles than can off road. It’s not about outright speed. If you don’t need the awd capability then there is the fwd which is still plenty fast enough for our roads. As for the Skoda there sales team was bloody awful unlike the Toyota staff who were very pleasant. Also the VAG software is atrocious so wouldn’t want the Enyaq. I have had no problem with the software in the Toyota and the car has been perfect. Driving the Citroen and then Toyota back to back they don’t even compare so if you are test driving 50k cars why would you then get a Citroen as there many options at that price point.
I think given the price per kwh of many public chargers it's important for EVs to be efficient and in winter at least this clearly isn't. Toyota trying to prove that EVs aren't any good by producing a sub par product? These are pretty expensive list price wise too though I guess if they can't sell them there may be the odd cheapish lease around?
yeahp...broke a 2006 Toyota Yaris 1.000cc... my lesson is that a 3 cilynder Toyota is not a 4 cylinder Toyota... the 30000kms revision interval should be changed for 15000 as after 70kkms car started to drink oil as if no tomorrow... once it just stopped...pity...it was a nice car although underpowered. family sold it with just 120kkms.
You can tell the car was rushed out of the door, even static in the showroom. It doesn’t have the same sense its been developed to the nth degree like their normal hybrid cars.
12v failure is common failure/design fault in EVs. The way around it is to treat it like an ICE. Turn on car fully; put in neutral; apply handbrake, and leave it running... Either for radio, or air con, or demist. Seems EVs will revert to 12v power supply when in Park.
Either Toyota are trying to put people off buying EVs, or they think that just having a Toyota badge compensates for all the car’s shortcomings. Have their engineers even looked at the other EVs out there?
@@rrwerekrI think Toyota pr department oversold the EV capabilities of the bZ4X which was mediocre for the price (EV capabilities not the “car” capabilities). The bZ4X was supposed to be a lot more efficient than the competitors and hardly loosing range in winter to due an efficient heat pump. Toyota was murky about the battery size. I thought the gross kWh was the net because of the impressive WLTP figures. The “punishment points” for fast charging is incredibly dumb if you’re road tripping. Lack of charging on route in the navigation is not helping. This doesn’t matter so much for many owners though. I’ve noticed myself after getting an EV that I am not so dependent on DC fast charging, it’s only for road trips or if I accidentally forget to charge.
It’s very strange that this its a long term review and you do not now about eco climate and eco driving??? Your range will be much much more better in that mode in the winter. Try, you will be amazed 🙌🏻
Won't recommend any Toyota these days, nothing to do with quality. Everything to do with their determination to slow down the adoption of Ev's. Even the excellent things like the four wheel drive on this car have been negated by the lack of range, HUD, glove box for goodness sake! Nope can't be doing with them thanks.
Comment re Tom the Reviwer and the preheating are very harsh. He got that all wrong.... for his Auntie and the video..... but I'm sure all his other observations are correct?! Ops.
What on earth are you on about? That was VW manipulating tests and deceiving their customers (Dieselgate), not Toyota. My 2008 Prius has never given any trouble. It supposedly gets 65mpg under best conditions. Yet, I easily managed 69.4mpg and 653 miles from 43 litres of fuel (45 litre tank) - is that the Toyota deceit you were talking about? 😅
Broken? Not often, but I do see many Toyota's with seemingly damaged engines, as they'll often suddenly dip in speed in a very mild bend despite perfect driving conditions and no traffic. Or they're stuck doing 80km/h on the highway. Must be some flawed engine nonsense, right?
You know the car is a failure when you've to whip the coat out to stay warm inside it rather than use the heating to stay comfortable to travel any reasonable distance.
My issue with it was that the front junction camera would take over the whole infotainment screen at junctions, blocking out other info such as the navigation. It was slow to revert back once through the junction. Very annoying
I have a RAV4 Plugin and the same function but I can disconnect the camera in a menu, perhaps on the BZ4X as well. I did order an Bz4X Executive 4WD today, very much looking forward to it!! 😀 In Norway the BZ4X is the second most sold car the past year, after the Tesla MY.
I was really tired in my 27y driving stinky, always cold and underpowered ICE cars. Got mine EV 2y ago even without driveway, happy, never go back. EV`s are future-I remember long time ago when computers started show up, I keep telling people that internet and computers are future. People just laughed at me 😀 Now story repeats with EV`s
Oke, normally I can advise anyone to buy a Toyota Corolla or any type of ICE or hybride system from Toyota. But with EV, it's another thing.... I really think that Toyota is agreeing with all the bad points, and they had to stand behind his original technology to build another level of the Hybride system! They are the King in Hybride, stay there, and if Toyota make another EV, that needs to be better than Tesla or BYD, and of course Hyundai and Kia ( My EV brands! )
You cover a few details other reviews don't, nice. Let's set the context. City driving in Los Angeles, this is a good car for around town and short get-away trips, yes. City MPGe is around 104 MPGe. This is NOT a LUCID. You're not paying LUCID price. Also, anyone comparing apples to apples with a Tesla is not fair; it's not a Tesla, haha. Not everyone wants a Tesla either :-)... You can use the DC charging at least 80% twice a day; it has a good buffer if out of juice. Want a road trip? I highly recommend "A Better Route Planner (ABRP), if you need to plan the trip....

:-)
Let them sell other less reliable cars:-))))).
Anyway, Also thinking about byuing BZ4X AWD, here, in Belarus, we have them for 30k USD for resident buyers.
Nice price. 50k - a lot for her, because of range and size. She Is realy small car for SUV.
For Electric cars Toyota have been a bit slow to the market...!! Wow... so polite of an enormous understatement.
I like Tom's non-shouty, understated reviews
"non-shouty" because he is in EV, not noisy ICE car :)
Yes, doesn't overdo the puns and cheap humour. Nice balance.
Erm i picked up my bz4x and i the app allows me to pre heat or cool the car? Also not a box? there is a button under the armrest that opens it? Not great review
What I have seen in reviews of this car. Yours has been the kindness review
I really did think that was such a basic feature that he must've missed something
agree, must be the old app.
Absolutely unprofessional for the reviewer not to look into that. Took me 5 mins
Not so, you have been listening to much to the complainers ;-) I know it had a difficult birth, but it is a great car. Not perfect but many qualities! I know, the range could have been better. However, the battery size makes it lighter than many EV's and in a winter comparison with many of the most sold EV's in Norway it was the best on snow/ice conditions and steep hill. And in the braking test it stopped 2 car lengths earlier than the second best. I drive a 2020 Rav4 Plug in which I love and today I ordered a BZ4X after having it home for 24 hours. I live on the west coast with some long steep and windy road and it was amazing!! I did have great expectations and it surpassed them! It was smooth and stable, fun and enjoyable. It is not perfect of course but far from a half-hearted attempt on a EV.
In Norway we have had very low taxes for EV's so most new cars sold are EV. Tesla Model Y is by far the most sold here but the last year the BZ4X is on 2.place. Almost 25% of all cars in Norway now is a BEV.
Regarding the missing glove box it is made to be equipped with at infrared heater for your legs and the 2024 model has it. 👏
Regarding all new cars in the future being BEV's it will not happen. Toyota has not jumped together with the rest of the car makers because they are good at predicting the future. Now you should have heard already that in Europe the demand for BEV's are going down. And it really does not make sense to produce only Ev's as long as the electricity is made by burning coal. In Norway we use water so it makes more sense. We also have to consider the millions and millions of cars sold in developing countries that does have the stability in their power grid. So Toyota is making the right choice, about 30% EV's and the rest Hybrids and other versions of ICE's. Just to put things into perspective.
That SIRI stuff was WILD! Is it the car's infotainment's fault or Apple?
I've tried my phone in several other cars and it's fine....
Seems like it was just listening snf replying to itself 😂 that's crazy carry on.
Works for us... We use car play.
I own a bz4x and I like it. It can be preheated from the app. It handles well in snow and is a very well put together car.
Now she can’t find the button and it stays on by default so for me its a great safety feature 😁
Opinions will differ but I like the car.
It's not as good as any other EV at all.
It all depends on how to buy it. On a lease I got a great deal and it was cheaper than all of the cars you mention as well as being usefully bigger than some (EX30 / Kona) and miles cheaper than a Model 3. Full list price wise I would agree with you though
This is a great vehicle with superior discounts.
Another nicely done analytical video by Tom. Just the right length too for my concentration span.
Hi Electrifying,, Love this video,, 😂🤣🤩,,The voice command or should i say the lack of voice command.. Thanks
With no rear wiper, just put on the rear demister 👍 also works for rain/mist on your door mirrors too 😁 Well, it does on my BMW sedan 😉
I'm not sure how Toyota, a massive company with huge resources, could have gotten their first BEV so wrong. Genuinely it's almost like they did it deliberately!
it's not their first...they had a rav4 ev in 2000ish.
@@trippplefiveNot global. The Bz4x is the first Toyota EV on global sale.
I’ll come back when solid state batteries are in production.
Toyota must have worked hard to make an EV as inefficient as this.
Apparently it only lets you rapid charge 3x in a day. So if you ever do go on a long road trip, prepare for slow mode charging.
The CarPlay was comedy gold and made me chuckle
I will trust a Toyota any day over the Germans, Koreans and American brand.
Goodluck with that nonsense
Lol, after the scam they did with the safety ratings hmm.
Is that correct - a car with a whopping great battery can't be pre-heated/de-frosted unless connected to charging? Is the car servant to the owner or vice versa?
no
no its not, the app clearly allows you to do it instantly on on schedule.......i used it yesteday
Toyota spent the last 15 years spreading FUD about EVs and lies about "self-charging" hybrids instead of developing facilities to manufacture BEVs. And results are really on display - 98% of their vehicles are still ICE and their EV efforts are so far expensive and terrible.
If they fix the range and all the little nitpicky stuff it could be a nice car.
Nicolette McKenzie ?
Good Video, but you're being to harsh on the bZ, some of your claims is not really true.
Without a doubt. Said no storage box, yet you press a handle and lo and behold a storage box..
I had a CHR , after a few months of ownership the 12V battery died on an almost daily basis. Truly disappointing. I got rid after18 months.
I nearly bought one of these, was on the waiting list from the beginning..but then they released what the range would be.
Congrats on breaking a Toyota 👍
This review explains why I’ve yet to see one on the roads, near me. What a rubbish car!
A glove-box should fit gloves?
I think this is a compliance car like that awful POJ Mazda embarrassingly put out.
I preheat mine from the app while having breakfast. It's brilliant in Winter. Where did you go wrong?
I'm sorry for your loss.
Eh? You can do that With like every car haha
That car play moment reminded me of every episode of Doctor Who !😂
Love the video - won't bother with the car. Perhaps the Subaru is better?
There is pre heating..
you should record audio books. soothing voice:)
they added an extra motor then halved the power of both?
It's their first EV it has some "features" that need a little tweaking
I think given the price per kwh of many public chargers it's important for EVs to be efficient and in winter at least this clearly isn't. Toyota trying to prove that EVs aren't any good by producing a sub par product? These are pretty expensive list price wise too though I guess if they can't sell them there may be the odd cheapish lease around?
Given the cars available now from nearly every other brand, it’s like they’re not even trying.
I work with Toyota so I got a great price normally they are expensive. The car is great, fast, comfortable and reliable. But the range is horrendous.
yeahp...broke a 2006 Toyota Yaris 1.000cc... my lesson is that a 3 cilynder Toyota is not a 4 cylinder Toyota... the 30000kms revision interval should be changed for 15000 as after 70kkms car started to drink oil as if no tomorrow... once it just stopped...pity...it was a nice car although underpowered. family sold it with just 120kkms.
That's this car off the shortlist, shame as the lease options were great.
What are we comparing this car against? Sure, it has no standout features, but what is bad about the car?
It's almost like Toyota don't want to make a good EV! 🤔
It does have storage in the armrest. I thought it didn't at first either, but it does so he's wrong on that point.
The infotainment system makes VW’s original design premium 😂😂
That was hilarious. Nice car shame about the batteries. 😂😂😂😂
Well, just like the Prius - the 2nd and 3rd generation were much much better. I'm gonna wait til the Gen 2 of BZ4X then
The Siri joke continues… my phone heard the tailgate sound watching the video through the TV and alerted me that it had heard a siren!!!
Hello Justin Timberlake 😂!
Comment re Tom the Reviwer and the preheating are very harsh. He got that all wrong.... for his Auntie and the video..... but I'm sure all his other observations are correct?! Ops.
Too many things that would drive me crazy about this car
I sold mine after 9 months. 12v problems, electrics just would shut off when driving down the road. I'll never buy another Toyota again
What will happen to Toyota, which has manipulated quality tests and deceived consumers for 35 years?
What on earth are you on about? That was VW manipulating tests and deceiving their customers (Dieselgate), not Toyota.
My 2008 Prius has never given any trouble. It supposedly gets 65mpg under best conditions.
Yet, I easily managed 69.4mpg and 653 miles from 43 litres of fuel (45 litre tank) - is that the Toyota deceit you were talking about? 😅
Tom may I ask how tall are you
I believe his ‘showbiz’ height is around 5’8”!
I test drove one and liked the driving position. Set the wheel quite low and the seat high-ish and it felt really nice. I am 6 foot.
I'm an owner, 6 foot and driving position no problem at all.
Underwhelming
Broken? Not often, but I do see many Toyota's with seemingly damaged engines, as they'll often suddenly dip in speed in a very mild bend despite perfect driving conditions and no traffic. Or they're stuck doing 80km/h on the highway. Must be some flawed engine nonsense, right?
Suddenly decreasing speed in soft bends? Yes, I noticed it on my Toyota to. I could turn it off i in the settings menu, and so I did. 😂
Ginny Kerbo going on Dragons Den 15th Feb BBC1 8 PM.
Ergonomics seems to have been forgotten.
Nicolette MacKenzie that's it, that's the reply 😂
I think that car is possessed, it obviously doesn't like Siri
You know the car is a failure when you've to whip the coat out to stay warm inside it rather than use the heating to stay comfortable to travel any reasonable distance.
What a disappointment! This car was at the top of my list. But it's now been struck off completely.
That is so funny with Siri 😆
People just laughed at me 😀
Now story repeats with EV`s
Oke, normally I can advise anyone to buy a Toyota Corolla or any type of ICE or hybride system from Toyota.
But with EV, it's another thing.... I really think that Toyota is agreeing with all the bad points, and they had to stand behind his original technology to build another level of the Hybride system! They are the King in Hybride, stay there, and if Toyota make another EV, that needs to be better than Tesla or BYD, and of course Hyundai and Kia ( My EV brands! )
The answer to your question was Texas Instruments.
Nicolette McKenzie
Absolutely terrible product by Toyota. It is shocking that Toyota wants this much money for a poorly made car.
170 miles of range woeful? Come on, some objectivity...
You think that's good....?
64kWh usable? Wow, that's the same as the Niro EV. This car is Toyota trying to make EVs unappealing.
