    Great show! I picked this game up for a while, but I found that the more I played it the more I hated it, so I'm glad you were able to get through the visibility and hitboxes to put Mamo to rest.

      As unpleasant as it sounds, I have to agree with that sentiment. It's a good game clouded over by lots of small-ish issues that I could overlook in isolation, but they kinda add up. The large hitboxes, the visibility (and sometimes screenshake, too!), the length (not just game length, but how long bosses and stages *feel*), Touko, and so on...

    So what are you general opinions with this boss and stage?

      the stage is fine for the most part, my complaints are relatively minor:
      1) random spawns (opener fairies + yinyangs before boss), because they suck for scoring
      2) visibility issues on the second half of the stage (watch BUCHI's RyoukoB LExNB on the bonus enemies after the midboss kill, or look at the glow orbs being obscured behind the amulets on the final section).
      the rest of the stage was fairly cool, although there should have been more routing-based sections like the wheel section after the opener. the last stage chapter right before the boss was also too easy for this stage.
      to be completely fair, the boss patterns are relatively doable and consistent compared to benchmarks like, for example, ura mode, or abex in pretty much any game that contains that difficulty descriptor. my main issues are again with overuse of randomness:
      1) 4th non is terrible with how random it is. delete this.
      2) 6th spell lol
      3) 8th non sucks because the crystal spawns are random. you can kind of circumvent this one with a border at the end of spell 7 but it's too dangerous to stall on that if your gauge is insufficient.
      4) with the exception of spell 8, every attack starting from spell 7 onwards is pretty yikes and has a high chance of killing you. that's kinda disgusting considering it constitutes like half of the run's length.
      5) this technically falls under the above point as well, but special mention to spell 11 (kitrinity) because it's so terrible and awful to play. the fireball phase in particular comes as a slap in the face at the end of a 15-minute marathon.
      oh, and piercing shots do like, waaaay less damage if you hit a crystal instead of mamo (even if mamo herself is behind said crystal). they take literally twice as long on the first 4 nons, and like half the spells too (again, watch BUCHI's NB run to see the difference in dps). the damage nerf is a bit too much imo.

      @@permafrostwolf6399 I really wonder if this fight was playtested or not. Mamo in all honesty so far my least favorite extra stage boss in a Touhou fangame with how unfair her fight is (Seriously, what were they thinking with that 11th spell and that 4th non-spell?), that and I just find her design unappealing, especially since she looks too much like a Tumblr feminist. At least she has interesting lore and personality and a kickass theme.

      @@PokaPokasenpai i actually don't entirely disagree - my opinion fluctuated between that and "this isn't actually that bad" many times across my playtime (from first playthrough, to first clear, to trying to capture all spells in spell practice, to actually routing for consistency, and then now).
      honestly, i think it depends on what lens you view the fight through. it's definitely a tad overblown by most standards and it would not be wrong to call the fight unfair. but if they were trying for "absurdly extra but humanly nmnbable without being too easy", then i think they were actually more successful than most people.
      edit: the above is entirely based off of the pattern design only. if you factor in the resource system then i'd say they failed completely because it's so easy to farm resources and just bombspam your way to victory even if you've literally never seen the patterns before. i cleared LEx on my second try and i know quite a few who blind cleared it.
