Getting only 1 fully mutated dino is not the end. being able to replicate with a breeding pair. is where it should end. great concept on stacking colors. should try your hand at getting solid colors. its a bit harder to do. Keep up the good work
A bit late to the party but im trying to learn about mutations and if i understand it right to get a perfect one with really nice colors you should first stack mutations on the stats you want and then once you get the stats done you breed it with the colorful one until you get a male and a female with both stats and the desired colors, right?

stats stack before anything and your stat mutations will most likely give you some new colors as you go. Technically you can get the colors done first but stacking stats introduces genes from the mom and dad which could be the boring colors you don't want so I always do stats first and then color them up
To get a color mutation is random? So can I breed the same parents togehter over and over. Or do I have to breed the parents babies together and stack the generations?
yep I did a bunch of settings videos that go over the settings I use. I mainly just boost anything that has to do with breeding lol egg hatch speed, mating interval, that kind of thing

You can look them up by googling ark color ids which has them all listed on the ark gamepedia page. Or i made a video listing them all and showing the colors as well
I have a question bro, I’m trying to color mutations for my gigantophitecus. I have like 5 that has a bit of blue on its back head and hands. But whenever I try to breed to get a different color that’s not happening how do I do that just breeding over and over?
Does your world/server have the settings changed to have them lay eggs faster and to hatch them faster? From my experience with dealing with babies it takes days to even get one adult. So all the breeding to get mutations and to grow them up sounds like it would take weeks or months.. Or is there something else to make it go faster? For context: I've been playing for about 2 months. I have entered 3 caves with a friend and I have successfully got artifacts from 2 of them. I haven't made any metal structures yet. I have raised 2 deer (megasomething) and I've hatched no eggs yet. So I'm very much a beginner in many aspects of the game. I probably don't have much "common knowledge" yet
@Animiles I can appreciate the grind!! Yes there are settings to change the breeding process to make it more enjoyable. on single player there is pretty much a setting for everything. If you click host on the main screen it will bring up the single player load screen. I have a ton of settings videos for gameplay and breeding. Let me know if you have any other questions!

So if you don't get the mutations do you just unclaim them and then use a bigger dino to attack? I want to go on a breeding spree. But not sure what to do with the ones i don't need
I think so it would probably be a lot of work but if you breed the 19/20 with an unmutated one until you get the colors you want and then breed the colorful one with the 20/20 you should be able to get a 20/20 with the colors you want good question
I'm trying to figure out how to get my Dino's mating faster. These 10-24 hour waits are killing me. Also, any tricks to make the raising time go by faster?
the mutations are always random. I will either breed strictly for colors and not care about the stats. Or breed just for stats and not care about the color

yeah, colors always means stat mutations, just maybe not the ones you want. you can definitely breed stats out and then breed them with the colors you like but it might try to keep the stat associated with the color
So a mutation is random. Use 1 male and surround it with a circle of females. egg laying dinos are easiest. turn the mating on all of them and start collecting eggs. When you have 50 to 100 eggs in a couple refrigerators start hatching them. Hopefully you'll get a mutation or 2 in that group of eggs. now each dino has different color regions, stacking is the idea of taking those different mutations on each different region and combining them together into one dino. essentially changing the dino from not boring to colorful

it all depends, this video was specifically just stacking colors which means the stats didn't matter for me. I recommend doing up the stats separately and then adding color but its totally up to you

no you can color them yourself and still breed with them

My egg incubator says i have mutations but its not showing a mutation
That means it was a stat mutation without a color change. or it was on a non visible color region which would depend on the dino

Idk of any apps that help with mutations. Dododex will show how long it takes to breed but thats it. Mutations are random.
