    Justin is doing one heck of a good job running the equipment. What a great age when you get to start running the tractors and implements. You actually feel pretty good when you are helping your dad.

    No better experience than growing up on a farm. I spent as much time as I could on my grandparents dairy. Raking hay is the perfect job for a young man. That chain baler still makes some pretty rounds. I remember my first county fair. Put in the work ahead of time and it pays off when show day comes around. Thanks for sharing the video!

    Just finished baling our wheat straw, usually put up about a thousand small squares in addition to the rounds we bale. Contractor needed some and bought it in rows. Asked if we always hire local kids for small squares....... had to confess they are our kids and it's just part of their summer break. lol. Love your content. Thank You.

    The finger rake is probably the cheapest rake to keep operating and does a good job. I started out with an old one and then bought a 3-point Fransgard rotary which also works pretty good but goes through tines. The benefit of the rotary is that it does not wrap the windrow so the hay dries better.

    Life was so much simpler back in the early 90s, I didn't really notice much clinking sound on the round baler, I saw on another TH-cam channel the some farmer was farming with his 830 Case, this one had a narrow front on it, never seen any 830 Case with a narrow front, it had duals on too, I'm not subscribe to that channel though 🚜

    • @trinitydairy
      @trinitydairy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It must be. This one disengages the main drive belt and engages a different belt, that turns the chain backwards, when the door is opened.

  • @douglasmacarthur8775
    @douglasmacarthur8775 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    at 22:30.........I never cared for NH chain balers because most I have seen made bales that looked like a few guys pitched loose hay into a round stack.
    Your bales are the best I have ever seen from a N H chain baler.

    • @trinitydairy
      @trinitydairy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I know what you mean. I think the difference is that the older chain balers, had big springs to keep pressure on the bale, but this one uses air bags.

    • @leeroyexcavator9149
      @leeroyexcavator9149 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well guess you haven't ever seen much hay baled with one then. The problem with that is people didn't know how to bale with them and didn't know how to maintenance and adjust them correctly. I have baled with the same old 1978 850 New Holland that I bought used for over 25 years.

    • @leeroyexcavator9149
      @leeroyexcavator9149 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @douglasmacarthur8775
      @douglasmacarthur8775 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leeroyexcavator9149 ..There must be a reason why the old chain balers don't hold their value and why New Holland switched to belts like all the other makes and now brag how great a dense bale the BELT balers make.
      Why do you think that is ?

    • @leeroyexcavator9149
      @leeroyexcavator9149 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@douglasmacarthur8775 Don't hold their value that's funny. New Holland Chain balers that are 40 years old are still selling for 1500.00 plus while the belt balers are in the junk yard. Yeah New Holland found out they could make a cheaper baler like the other company's and make more money from broken down balers and parts unlike the old chain balers that lasted 30 plus years or more. So that bull don't fly.

    Just curious you said you are grinding down your apron chain idler sprockets which I have never heard of!!! You best be doing it evenly on both sides or you could damage the chain and cause it to wear faster and put uneven load pressure on other parts I would believe. I hear clicking but mostly from your pick up teeth. New Holland Chain balers are not as quiet. But are as far as I am concerned the best longest lasting balers ever made.

    • @trinitydairy
      @trinitydairy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I probably shouldn't have said sprockets, they are supposed to be smooth, but the chain has worn grooves in them so sometimes I have to grind down the high spots.
