    I watch you guys struggle with the bag almost every time, back in the early 2000's I worked with a farmer and over the 10 years I bet I was part of couple hundred bags. Putting the box in the skid steer bucket and starting at the top and working down makes putting the bag on so much easier, or the other thing we would do if short on help, is put the bag on the bale spear, lift it up and it would usually, I say usually, slid of the spear and then you just worked into place from both sides and the bottom! Trust me I feel your pain, they are nightmare.....but anything one can do to make it easier on the back, oh but probably do not want to put that video on here, people will yell at you for being in the bucket up in the air without being tie off! I always loved chopping corn and filling silo and bags, if you were bit closer to the western side of MN I would offer to help!

    • @trinitydairy
      @trinitydairy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, we usually use the bale spear,but didn't have an extra hand to run the skidsteer. Thanks for watching!

    This field of corn looked more promising than some of your first that went into the upright silo. Our neighbors had a self-propelled chopper open up their fields intended for silage and went right to work with their pull-type chopper bagging silage. They spread lagoon manure on the stubble, worked it in and have drilled triticale for spring forage Their upright stave silo will be filled when it is empty. I've got to finish some repairs on the combine so we're ready for beans. Seems like this time of year gets things rolling toward maturity. Hope the Lord blesses you folks with a safe harvest without too much downtime. We're in the same boat running old iron that can be problematic at times. Makes me wonder if the new machinery will be going at 50+ years old.

    Looking really good. Buying your own bagger was a wise decision, and will allow you to expanded your feed storage needs as necessary, with out encoring the heavy capital cost of permanent silos, ether tower or bunk. I see hundreds of empty tower silos sitting empty that may have only be filled 10-15 times, and have stood empty now 30 years.

    THAT'S why you take the Right dual off! I get it now. Great video, and I know what it's like running older equipment. Y'all do a great job keeping it running. Red tractors are better suited for the hydraulic motor table than pre 1992 Green ones. I would have to swap out bagger tractor and hauling tractor to let oil cool down. 👍

    Your lucky that you can get the huge plastic bags to bag your chopped corn.
    Here in Ontario Canada where I live, throw away Plastic shopping food bags no more,
    You have to buy a reusable plastic bag or other and the same with many more plastic
    products. Now stores are not carrying plastic bays at all you have to bring your own.
    Enjoy your crop bags while you can, they will get to you folks next.
    Great video and thanks for posting, keep them coming when you can.

    Jerome 2 is still under the weather? About 55 yrs ago dad came home from his second shift job. They woke us up. Put your shoes and coat on. We got in dad's warm pick up. Dad took us out on the road. It was the northern lights. (Mom , dad , brother , and myself). About 30 yrs ago I was on my way home from work (second shift) I seen the northern lights for the second time. From Sedgwick county kansas both times.

    I always wanted to see how you prep the bagger. It looks like it takes some pretty serious effort to put a bag on the machine. I've never used a bagger. Right now we don't really have a good place to put one until a slab is poured. Doesn't look too likely we get a bagger any time too soon. I do appreciate you showing how it all gets put together. How long is the maximum for an Ag Bag? In the future we may make piles like how George Gierok does??? Maybe.

    • @trinitydairy
      @trinitydairy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The newer baggers, have a lift, for the bag, that makes it easier. I usually use, 150ft bags, but some baggers, can 200, I think some of the bigger diameter ones, go up to 500ft long.

    I usually have to put my 7x200 bags on myself. I hang the bag off the pallet forks on my skid steer by pushing it all the way onto the forks I can tilt the forks down onto the tunnel and work the bag on to the machine. I started a bag Thursday afternoon and hopefully will finish it off tommrow. The way its looking I'll have almost 3 bags before I'm done😳 I'm kinda surprised. Does the steering your 1066 like to wonder? My bag site isn't perfectly flat but my 1066 likes to wonder in the dumbest places, and I do strap the steering wheel.

    • @trinitydairy
      @trinitydairy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I have a 3rd person, I like having them in the skid steer while Paul and I get the bag in place. It used to wander, but I had a new seal put in the hand pump that the steering wheel hooks to and that made it way better.

    One question? On our bags, when we grain the white of the bag is out. Directions say when doing silage the black should be out. I think if the black was out it absorbs the sun and makes condensation for fermentation. Don’t know if it really matters?????

    • @trinitydairy
      @trinitydairy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure either, the box for our bags say to put the bag on the other way for grain. What you are saying makes sense.
