Always 💪🏽
ive had my zl1 over three years and im happy to say no problems. ive never taken off my rain guard or got smoked side markers lol.
Nice! They are quite reliable cars overall
Great video sharing the "hot spots" where water could cause all kinds of damage for 6th Gen Owners! Really enjoyed it! The diode dynamics one taught me something new
Thanks for stopping by blue print! 🤘
I have a 2015 5th Gen Camaro but I still had water in the truck every time it rained. The car had a car cover 90% if the time and I got a Weather Tech trunk liner. For years I though the leak issue was from the rear spoiler that I had reinstalled and sealed. By chance I noticed small drain hoses inside the top of the trunk on each side, corner of the under the rear window. They are hard to spot inside the top of the trunk. They had both got knock lose and disconnected from side drain plugs causing roof water drain into the trunk. The hoses are short and barely reach the connection to the drain plugs, so I securely wrapped them with black tape. That solved the problem. Great video!
This is awesome bro! I’ve owned mine for 6yrs and didn’t know about the trunk lid seal or the side markers. Definitely applying silicone on those. Great video.
And its still in great condition! Thanks for coming by broski
Very helpful video. I will be purchasing a ZL1 soon, my dream car! Keep the content coming man, love what you are doing.
Very much appreciated bro. Your going to love the Z!
Thanks for the information sir!!👍🏽
Awesome info man. Ill definitely be watching for this when i buy one. Love your shutup and smash video. I bet I've watched it 20 times. Best camaro vid on TH-cam. Cant wait for the next one 👍👍
Haha thank you man. Was supposed to have the next up but ran into some equipment issues and then rain this weekend. So soon def will be more. Ty again for the extended support
So glad you’re shedding light on the trunk issue. My first SS had that dreaded cable get pinched on the seal and without me knowing my trunk got flooded and destroyed the fuse box and it costed me 2,300$ to get it fixed. I have a ZL1 now as well and I got the c8 taillights and I fixed the issue by wrapping that cable in some plastic tubing to make sure it would always glide correctly. Great video shedding light!
Thats some great advice with wrapping the cable!
That's a 100% correct that happened with my first Camaro. The trunk filled up with water blew out my radio... Thanks for Sharing your knowledge
man you are dedicated! Staying in the rain to finish the video lol, great info!
Haha i was soaked! Ty bro!
Solid info in this vid. Had the leak in my trunk the same way you stated here. Had to replace fuse block and harness. Insurance covered it. Great video
@networkstuffsss did you replace the whole wiring harness?
I’m having the same problem, did your dash throw a bunch of service lights ?
Thank u so much awesome videos by the way!!
Much appreciated man!
I have no Camaro but this will help me in the future. Thank you!
Thank you for the great content
Thank you for watchin ✌️
Thank you for the video
Thank you for watchin!
Weather Tech trunk mat is what you NEED if you have a 6th gen Camaro. You could probably pour a gallon of water in it! It's raised around the edges and it is PERFECTLY for fitted to the Camaro trunk. Best investment ever!
I have a 2SS 1LE. The first thing I bought was the weather tech trunk liner. Was way overpriced. But 55k on the car, I decided to get it.
@@gregory7414 They're hella nice though. You get what you pay for.
Thanks for the info bro 😎 very helpful
Always broski
Can't lie that camaro is sick in the rain very beautiful car glad to see you back in a camaro
Thank you so much bro!
I’m glad you mention the silicon for the side marker connectors cause I was literally finna suggest that or a thin layer of liquid gasket 💯🤷🏾♂️
Yup as long as its not on the connecting pins. Otherwise dielectric grease works well too.
Lookin good ⭐
Keep the videos up. Loving the content. Would love to see a video on how to clean the interior. No matter what product I use, it seems to make it look worse. Like it’s stained. Anyway cup of coffee on me.
Thanks so much! Ill take that coffee anytime haha. Good recommendation on the interior I got a few products and techniques I like to use. The smearing is legit a pain def seems more common in these cars. Hey just noticed your generosity thank you for the coffee bro!!
Don’t know if the video was planned or spontaneous😂 but either way the setting and topic was perfect. Love your vids man
Thank you bro! Mostly spontaneous 😅
Thanks!
Bro this is HUGE!! Man thank you so much for the support it goes right back i to the channel. Much ❤️✌️
Can’t wait
I have the after market side LEDs, haven't gotten around to installation yet...thanks for the tip I'll get the silicone from AMAZON. Took off the hood water blocker, BUT I'm thinking that my detailer uses pressure gun for washing probably should replace that piece before sending car to him. Thanks for these tips!
Moral of the story don’t mod your car. My ZL1 is stock. We not touching nothing. But thanks for the info.
Good info for sure. My 2021 SS 1LE has never been in the rain. I do not drive it in the wet weather. That is my Trail Boss's duty...
Oh man you must be my automotive doppelgänger I had the same combo, 22 Trail Boss and 22 1SS1LE Black, Satin Steel, got rid of both of them for personal reasons/life changes. That Camaro is a keeper for sure👍
Great video! You have highlighted more reasons why I know I made the right decision buying my '21 Mach 1. I'm a long time Chevy, and Camaro fan. I had a 2013 ZL1 convertible. Also currently have an '02 Camaro SLP car. Keep up the good work, I enjoy your videos! 👍
Thise slow ass Mach 1's have issues too sir. I'm sure they have the dreaded oil pan tick for one like the regular 5.0
@@matt-ts8cx nope! No oil pan tick, no mechanic issues, no problem driving in the rain either. The Mach 1 slow ass? I don't think so! As a former and current Camaro owner I can safely say that the Mach 1 is not "slow ass" lol!
@@lilredcrvtt my wife has a 2020 mustang gt that I drive occasionally. After driving my ZLE the mustang feels ridiculously slow so than is just my opinion but I'm sure the mustang still feels fast to plenty of people. While I haven't driven a mach 1 we are still talking about a 5.0 with 20 hp difference. I would have liked to see them up the power more in the Mach 1
@@matt-ts8cx in terms of overall usefulness, the Camaro is lacking. Sure, it's a quick car and it handles very well. I never said it wasn't. I had a ZL1 convertible. However, I can actually use my Mach 1 on a daily basis. I have room to spare in the trunk, the interior isn't cramped and I can see out of the car. I can drive it rain or shine. I have driven both a Camaro and Mach 1 on the track. In a drag race, yes the ZL1 would win, as it has a supercharged 6.2. On a road course, I felt the Mach 1 was better balanced. Each car has it's high spots and low spots. I chose the Mach 1 over the 6th Gen Camaro because the Mach 1 simply suited me better.
@@lilredcrvtt I just realized your first comment said 2013 zl1 convertible. I have a 2020 zl1 1le so much different. I can see why you felt the mach 1 was more balanced than your convertible.
LMAO @ "Excuse the word" points for being super self aware.
🤣🤣
1st off shout out to you for risking life and limb bringing us the video in the middle of a hurricane no less lol, I know for people in Southern California they usually start freaking out whenever water falls out the sky but you took it like the Superman we all know you to be. I didn't know about any of these things you mentioned so I'll make sure when I get my next Camaro to be on the lookout for all of them.
Hahaha dude your hilarious. Awaiting your next camaro 👀
@@Hot-1LE Lol hopefully it will be soon 👀
I had water get into my 2016 camaro. The water filled up a little above my fuse box and harmonic box. The car would not start once this happened and sent it to chevy dealership. They had problems waiting for the part to arrive with a new connector so the car was gone for like a month. This issue is a PITA for sure. I moved the fuse box to the passanger side wall next to the battery to prevent this from happening ever again. I sold the camaro like 5 months ago though for a C8 so glad I will not have to deal with that anymore.
Great info brother, thank you for sharing. I had no idea about any of these topics, will check my Z to make sure. I can't tell, is that a Crush color?
Thank you man! Red Hot haha
Those are some good things to be aware of.
What are your overall thoughts on the upcoming and very limited 2024 Camaro ZL1 Panther Collectors Edition ?
Its certainly a collectors type of thing. Personally i love it. I know a lot of people are disappointed its not a lt5 or whatever. But if i had the opportunity without markup to get one id sell my current ZL1 for it. But thats not going to happen lol
Thank you for taking the time to post this valuable information. Wouldn’t GM be responsible for the seal issues regarding the trunk area under the bumper to bumper warranty.
Yes they should def cover it. They seem to give people hard times though as usual lol. Says they knocked it loose etc. but from what Ive found, under warranty they will cover it. Out of warranty its on the owner. Appreciate ya watching as always man 👏
I would like to say thank you for all that information you just shared with us very valuable. I do have a question with your Camaro. I did notice that you do have the second generation side, rocker molding satin black on it. Did you add that after you bought the Camaro or was it included ? is it worth getting? I am ordering my 2024 Camaro riptide blue metallic. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you again, from Tucson AZ
Joe 😊
Hey Joe. Thank you i appreciate the kind words. Kinda confusing cause ive had three red camaros on the channel haha. Acs side skirts for the SS is my suggestion you can see more about those on a video i made i think its called "the best side skirts for your gen6 camaro". The ones I have on this car are the black ones that come with the ZL1 from the factory already installed. So if your getting a zl1 you dont have to worry about it. Otherwise acs composite makes awesome ones and can come in 1le matte black or your typical black.
I’m currently having trouble with my Camaro . Water got into the trunk and filled up about 2-3 inches and I noticed because my dashboard all gauges turned off and I got a lot of service lights come up .. I haven’t been able to fix it , I replaced the fuse box and amp and it’s still the same. I’m not sure if it’s the wiring harness?
What camera are you using ?? Super clear
Gopro 11
my passenger side blind sensor went out and my recaro seat wore out on the upper area. both were warrantied but ceramic spray it regularly ans just watch the way you get in and out.
Currently had the trunk issue my fuse box and connectors burnt out I’ve been looking for a leak can’t seem to find it so far Ive changed out the fuse box and connectors took me about 4 hours to get every plug out one by one and install to the new connector only issue I have now is my back up camera isn’t working and my heated seats aren’t working everything else is good only spent $350 for parts
So the seal went bad (from the 3rd brake light loom getting pinched in between the seal) in the trunk of my 2016 SS and the trunk flooded and caused all sorts of issues but it's not as expensive or as hard as you think. I got the entire fuse block with all the fuses in it for $100 from my local Chevy dealer and I installed it myself. Its 2 plugs and 3 screws, not hard at all. Thanks for the heads up on the side markers. I've fixed 98% of my electrical issues but I keep having 1 intermittent issue and i'm wondering if its coming from my side markers since I have the same ones.
You got lucky then. Most people its a couple thousand.
@@Hot-1LE that’s why I service everything myself. Most people get taken advantage of by dealerships. It’s interesting to see videos of people going to 2 different dealerships in their area and seeing the quotes all over the place for the same fix. I had seen one recently over the stock headunit/screen going out and it was a $900 difference between the quotes he got from 2 different Chevrolet dealerships.
I would like to point out that the rear seal is constantly rubbed by the trunk lock cable on the convertibles.
What camera do you use?
Have a few GoPros. This vid is on the 12 and add an external mic
I use silicone spray on moldings , di electric grease on fittings and connectors, And yea look at the routing of that harness on the trunk mount
deck lid peace great info
I only got caught out in the rain once and it was really just sprinkling, but I sold my Camaro so I don't have to worry about any of these issues any longer. I miss my Camaro but it was time to move on. Thought about getting a ZL1 Conv. but I'm done with sports cars until I can get a 911 or Lambo.etc..........
Where exactly do you put the dielectric compound? You know how the Diode Dynamics lights come with the grey piece connected? Does it go between there? Or does it go between where the grey piece connects to the rest?
The gasket thats on the connector is only place id put it. Not on the contacts themselves. But watch a few youtube vids of how to use it to get a good idea
@@Hot-1LE Oh like the on the black o-ring? I made a thread with a picture on the Camaro subreddit if you use that.
Stockton, CA has $5K market adjustment on SS 1LE and $10k on zl1
Thats a damn shame
wont be a problem for long, maro is getting killed off a second time
@@the__black__box that means the value will go up lol
I miss my ZL1!
do 19+ SS owners have anything to worry about relating to the hood vent? rained for the first time other day having my ss and i haven't thought about it.
Nope its all good out of the box
That's true that happened to my last Camaro the water got in through the trunk and blew the fuse box my radio stopped working that's a big problem with the 6th gen make sure you check the trunk regularly for water leaks
Sorry to hear it happened man. Hopefully they took care of ya
What is your thought on the skip shift . ? On manual trans cars ? Just got a new car . Don;t see a need for a skip shift eliminator harness , Mine has only locked me out 1 time in 500 miles . Thank you. Enjoy your content.
I personally dont like them. Gm can void warranty for them if they wanted to. And to get passed it you just shift at a higher rpm. So to me its kinda silly and the higher rpm shift (around 3k) seems to be better for the drivetrain. I Appreciate your support!
I dont like them , but it has not been a problem for me in 2023 it only messes with me if short shift at about 1500 rpm So I did not make that mod Not needed only time a 2023 6 th gen kicks you out is when you are turning very low rpm
Its like GM got the message My 2023 2ss 1LE does not lock me out . great content. Enjoy your content , Thanks man
As long as you get up to 20mph or higher I believe the skip shift goes away. I just give it a little more gas if I see the icon pop up.
I want to get the led side markers, but I'm not ready to void my warranty
I'm sure it's cliche, but I made sure when I bought my 1LE that it would be a garage car and I don't drive it in the rain. I've got a beater F150 for Lowe's trips and crappy weather.
I mean rain is water so this does in places match washing your car. Enjoy the beast man!
Haha, excellent point.
Mine is 4 yrs old - Never seen the rain 😅
PLEASE... please tell me where you bought that jacket 🧥?
Haha ill have to find out i think it was a gift at some point
@@Hot-1LE pleeeeease!!??
Costco. The brand is Original Vintage weatherproof. 😁
Sigh goes to check everything on the car
You guys drive your Camaro in the rain?
Free donuts of course
i wonder if you could just cut a pvc p trap in half the long way and zip tie it to the cable in the trunk to keep it kind of rigid so it cant get caught in the trunk moulding.....
That would probably work. Honestly i don't see how it happens as much as it does. Haha
My 2010 ss tremec 6 speed has it disabled ,
Those blackened side markers were the first thing I’m going to change on my Ss when it arrives thanks for the heads up 😂
Id still do it to be honest. Just make sure your connections are solid. Enjoy it!
@@Hot-1LE yeah I’m still gonna do it. The factory ones are hideous and make the car look so cheap but I’ll definitely seal the connections once it’s installed
@Mak_1997 the factory ones are terrible 🤣 Enjoy the car man.
not mine because I dont drive it in the rain !
You dont wash it with water either? 😉
Easy solution. Don't daily drive and park it in the garage. 🤷
Whats the point of owning a car ya cant drive haha. But yeah that would work!
Lemon law???
No most likely not. This happens to a very small percent of cars and is generally caused by the owner not the car.
So you want to blame GM for your own MODS? Nonsense.
I think you should watch the entire video bro lol. Obviously the ONE MOD wont be covered by gm. But i guess you missed the other two that are factory not mods
Not sure how I missed this video because I usually watch all your Camaro content (won't subscribe, sorry). I'm a little confused and will probably sound like a snob in this comment. Once again, sorry for that. I don't understand why Camaro owners are driving their cars in the rain. Especially ZL1 owners. I can understand 4 & 6 cylinder owners driving them because they are Camaro wannabees in their cheaper versions, but newer LT1 and above are awesome cars that should be treasured as GM closes out an era. I have a 2023 SS convertible and only drive it on nice days. Gets parked in the winter here in the Northeast. The only water issues that I have experienced are water pooling in the trunk area by the hinges and gas shock connectors while being washed. Also in the door jams and sill which shocks me. I guess any car can be used as a daily driver and must respect that decision, but I have a hard time grasping why people use a ZL1 as a daily unless they are living beyond their means or in Southern Arizona or New Mexico. Just saying.
Some people aren’t scared to drive their fun cars everyday, because that’s what they were built to do. Not sit in a garage and be pampered. I understand you not driving your camaro in the winter because that’s just straight up unsafe, but other than that you should drive your car every day and enjoy it. And the addition of you stating you weren’t gonna subscribe is so pointless.
Informative.
However, this video should have been five minutes or less. I hate the new parameters for the Al-Gore-Rhythm.
It forces everybody to drag out their videos to that ten minute mark with needless banter and unnecessary filler.
_"Just the facts Ma'am."_ *~Dragnet*
Stay classy my friends.
I get what your saying man, i think youtube does too with the new shorts. Algo has always been 8 minutes actually but thats not why i make the videos that long. When I spend time go out recording taking shots etc its always 40 minutes and up worth of footage. Sometimes hours. Then theres editing where it can get knocked down but that takes a lot of time probably 4-6 hours every video. A lot of elements go into making a video and I can tell you length is high on the list, I always try to make them shorter. Under 10 minutes is tough. Making sure proper detail is in there and i don't lead someone incorrectly or say something that can damage someones car is up on the list. Thanks for the feedback and glad ya found it informative 🤝
@@Hot-1LE No worries brother.
I hope I did not come off as rude or terse. It was not my intention to be malicious in any way. It is far too difficult (especially in current society) to convey _constructive criticism_ due to the nature of the word _criticism._
Sadly, you and all the other content creators are at the mercy of the arbiters of TH-cam that hide behind their curtain of anonymity. No one really knows what the scheme is nor how to play it.
Nevertheless, this was highly pertinent information regarding ownership of the 6th Gen Camaro's. Well done.
Stay classy my friend.
Your all good bro. I took it as fair criticism and you worded yourself very well. I appreciate that man, always trying to improve heck maybe I can make them into shorts and the longer version is this vid. Idk haha. Appreciate the support as always man!
I don't drive mine in the rain !!!
Can happen from washing it.
I blow all lights and jams with air compressor . witch I recommend for everyone or leaf blow never had any problems . thank God 3 camaros also .
