carbon blades are not as linear as wood in terms of power delivery. speed glue improves the rubber's speed and spin without hurting the touch. Speed glue racket just feels amazing. Feel might be the biggest difference.

Penhold style has the natural movement for forehand than traditional style but the backhand its too difficult to control for Jpen. Its becoming rare to find Jpen players nowadays.
M Das ...I don't believe it's too difficult to control the traditional penhold backhand but with the larger slower ball you need to hit over & through the ball more to create the power.... so it's good for reflex blocks but not so good for powerful topspin winners. That's why they need RPB these days.
Nothing like playing with 1 ply jpen. A proper cpen forehand loop feels great compared to shakehand, but the crisp and tight crack from a thick plank of kiso hinoki hitting a perfectly timed counterspin sounds like a 400 foot homerun off of a wooden bat. Nothing else quite like it.
In my opinion Ryu's forehand attack is some sort of 'gambling' - as he menavoured himself to the far left corner to fire the bullet he then left a massive gap on his right to his opponent (and also he often lost his balance after striking the ball) . This means if the opponent can block the ball back to the right court Ryu would be unable to deal with. Fortunately his bullet shots are always un-blockable. Sadly after Kim Teak Soo and Ryu Seung Min the South Korean Team do not play J-pen anymore (should we blame the use of the 40mm ball?) . New generations are good but lack of characteristics - they all joined the Big Big world of shakehand 2 sided reversed rubber.
@@popcorn32145 bcuz theres not much players currently using jpen. plus, there are only a few players using the penhold grip (chinese penhold is mostly used than jpen)
How is jpen dying faster than cpen? It is much more effective for looping and with better footwork, rpb does not have to be used if you can pivot very well
RSM foot work is just incredible. He is literally jumping across the table
no other player comes even close to Ryu Seung Min's footwork.
Noone except all modern top players.

Eh xu xin is close
I tried playing a couple of JPen paddles. Those things are like small canons.
Ryu vs Ma Lin, watching two penhold gods on 1 table is pure bliss
Best penhold complication ever.RIP speed glue era
can you explain why it became a problem? I'm new to this and never experienced speed glue.
Christian Adrian Aniceta not good for players health
LegIsLate I mean what does the speed glue does ? does it increase top spin and speed? how is it different from carbon blades nowadays

LegIsLate tnx
Ryu, best penholder ever. Best footwork!
xu xin , wang hao , ma lin not bad either..
Imagine xu xin vs ryu, both on their prime. that would be a dream match.
I think you mean best J-pen ever, China's tough to beat!
Sasa Geric xu xin wang hao and ma lin are decently better lol

No match could have been any closer than the match between Wang Hao and Xu Xin in 2012 (4:49)!

There are actually a lot of Jpen players out there. Just not in the professional level but you can find them a lot in amateur or table tennis clubs

For ryu seung lin it was only 'SERVE ATTACK' no block

@@adamcang4683 oof for you my friend
fair question
The 3 fingers in the back side of the racket give extra power, I play penhold, so I can certify that
And you are exactly how good as to make this statement?
3 fingers spread out or 3 fingers stacked? i hope your fingers are not spread out otherwise your holding the blade wrong
But for rpb LGL spreads it out.
Mostly 2 fingers.

Penholders can create more curved angle than shake-hand players.
I think penhold enables a player to generate more smashes as compared to other holds.....I might be wrong
