    Wow, amazing rpb! Her opponents seems to aim her backhand, they thought backhand will be her weakness as a penholder, but her rpb's so good!

      I don't think they aimed her backhand because of that, that would only be true in a lower level League. In world class players, even without RPB, traditional penholders can still do deadly attacks with their backhand.
      This also implied to a lot of shakehand players, their backhand isn't the weakness, but the attack from the forehead is a lot harder to deal with, so other players would rather send the ball to their backhand instead to be safer.

    (At 6:10) SUN Chen has this 5-ball(or 9 ball) Serve-n-attack, involving a side-cut, RPB, block, then SP FH fast attacked, got a lot of winners. (At 5:57) is of same version, but 7-ball attack.

    I have a similar set-up, and I really like it. RPB took a while to learn, but it's now my stronger side, which is funny because I started using penhold because of the monster forehand it allows.

    what dies RPB stand for???

      Classical Penhold uses only front rubber to hit balls. For example if right handed player, ball coming on right side he hit with front rubber, when ball coming to left side, he rotated wrist inward to hit ball with same side rubber. The “RPB” is reverse penhold backhand, that’s the newest style when the ball comes to left, one do not rotate. But just move hands to left side and use “back side “ rubber to hit the ball, usually can create a lot of side spin and top spin.

      it returns opponent top spin to back spin and very fast.

    • @Hin-yi6gw
      @Hin-yi6gw 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@winson5159 that's not true, the ball would still be topspin but only very little.
      You might be thinking about long pimples which can reverse spin, but that's also not true either. If you flat hit the ball fast with long pimple the ball will become no spin instead.
      The only possible rubber type that can reverse spin through smashes would be a frictionless anti spin rubber.

      @@Hin-yi6gw I played short pimps (forehand penholder) for a number of yrs when I was a boy. When your opponent hit a top spin, I just move my blade forward (like a wall moving forward), then it is a fast backspin return. I used to move my table close to the wall to practice my forehand flick against backspin in those days. That's why short pimps had its glory moments in the 70's and 80's.

    • @winson5159
      @winson5159 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      try it yourself, hit top spin to a hard wall, the return is backspin.

    • @Hin-yi6gw
      @Hin-yi6gw 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@winson5159 I don't know what exactly your equipment is so I can't say you are wrong. But I have tried short pimples, medium pimples and long pimples.
      From my experience even using long pimple to flat block, the ball would just come back as float or light backspin. The bounce off wall effect is what a frictionless anti spin would do, a normal short pimple wouldn't have a auto reversal function, just a light reduce of spin. The rubber you were using might just be a special one.

    What a forehand very fast

    • @spaceinvader384
      @spaceinvader384 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forehand smash from short pimple rubber (proper spin judgment) has got more power than inverted pimple rubbers 'cause pimples out is harder and the ball returns faster. Short pimple rubber is also made under ITTF specification.

      @@redfox1348 , if u know what real chinese pros use, their rubber are the least speed. The power comes from their technique. And it is intentional so that their shots have more kick.

      I'm not convinced that say tenergy 05 (a very fast rubber along with other fast rev modern rubbers) is slower than say a fast short pip. I would even suggest that the fastest rev rubbers are faster than the fastest short pip rubbers. However. Speed aside, I thinks it's more about the trajectory and influence the different rubber types have on the outcome of the hit itself. So, a fast rev will be fast and with the possibility of generating lots of kick and spin. A fast short pip on other hand will likely to be flat and fast (nowhere near as much spin) it may skid down off the table. The power and speed of the short pip may be possible with fast sponge underneath. The sponge and blade playing a big part of the equation. It's the flat non spin skidding effect of a well hit short pip shot, that gives opponents trouble. That not easy to say after a few sherbets by the way. Lol...

    This Sun Chen table tennis player is no Queen of pen holder. She is far from being one. Seriously. If Sun Chen is, or was all that then where is she today? She is not competing table tennis nowadays that's for sure.
