Crazy, the original Super Mario on the NES is my most nostalgic Mario game/moment/memory. As when I was around 7 yrs. old my older cousins had just gotten an NES with Super Mario and Duck Hunt as well as two controllers before Xmas that year. But my fondest Mario, as well as most memorable memory of Super Mario Bros. is Stage 1-2. As that level was both my introduction as well as the very first level I had ever played. But that being said, Mario 2 is my favorite of the NES Mario games. Just so unique and different.
Hold on, this made me realize, Scott hasn't made a dedicated video to discuss 64, Sunshine, or even Odyssey. I'll admit, the conversation surrounding those games is kinda worn out, but still, it's just a weird thing to realize.
I loved Galaxy 2 more because while Galaxy 1 said "hey just relax and take things at your own pace," Galaxy 2 just dragged you along kicking and screaming and having a damn good time. It's just a pity Galaxy 2 didn't have an OST as good as 1. Otherwise Galaxy 2 would be my first ever 11 out of 10.
I did think it was funny that the Galaxy logo on the Switch 3D All-Stars package changed the sparkles. "You are...Mister Gay!" I always hear that in the AOL "You Got Mail" voice, haha.
ngl, i reqlly hope in 2027 scott wears a chef hat in every video. its never acknowledged, its not a gag (like, nobody points it out as weird) he just has that hat for that year as if he always has. at most, maybe a mention on the first vid so people get whats goin on
One of the rare few that absolutely loves Sunshine. Grew up playing the original 4 on the SNES all stars cart, but for whatever reason Sunshine hits the nostalgia department the hardest. Can't recall a gamecube game I played more
I've played and absolutely LOVED every mario except 3. I grew up with the first 4 (1,2,3, and world) as well as super mario land on gameboy (which I loved and still love). 2 was ok but didn't play it much, world is one of my favorites but when mario 64 came out I was absolutely blown away and went from being just a playstation kid to wanting an n64 too and played mario 64 like kids play gta 5. Front to back over and over and over its my favorite mario. Sunshine was amazing too and I loved every minute of it its my tied for 2nd or 3rd favorite. The Galaxy's were great too but I didn't play them until 4 or 5 years after they released but beat both and enjoyed it a lot. I was stabbed in my heart and when I got out of the hospital I was stuck in bed and on the couch for a few months but new super mario bros on wii got me through it I loved that one too. Then odyssey.... odyssey was a masterpiece it felt like mario 64 came back and kept the switch in my hand for weeks it's my other tied for 2nd favorite or above sunshine possibly. But mario 3d land and world..... I played each for a few hours and the first 20 mins or so i was like wellllll.... this is neat i guess... those are the only two I don't like. The only reason i even played 3d world more than an hour was because my daughter was like 6 at the time and played with me but other than that those two are shit mario games. I don't know what they were thinking with those
In my honest opinion, this is where 3D Mario games are at it's peak. No open sandbox/collecthon style like, just point A to point B, with things to collect that are optional & not overbloated with many you need to unlock more levels, multiple branches to explore, alot more unique & crafted levels, more variation of power ups, smoother controls, better camera, better gameplay and better pacing. I hope the next 3D Mario game will go back to it's linear style as the Galaxy games or the 3D series were.
should have included like the Sunshine talk from the Gamecube retrospective or Odyssey Part from first year of Nintendo Switch and other segments where you talked about Mario 64 to be complete.
It's completely fine, and deserves compliments for being a 3D Mario on a handheld, but I think it's outshined by literally every other 3D Mario out there. It's just the most basic, textbook example of a Mario game that exists.
