When I was little I would tell my mistakes to my grandma and not to my parents. My stepdad would punish me for the smallest transgressions and sometimes even if one of my younger siblings was the one who had done the wrong I would be punished. My grandma would coach me. She never approved of my wrongs but knew that when I told her I was acknowledging it and asking for her advice on how to be better. To this day, I can still hear her singing to me, "Pick yourself up and dust yourself off and try it over again." Compassion is a thousand times more effective with raising kids. Making kids feel safe about telling you about or asking for help when they are in trouble is so important. It permanently damaged my relationship with both my mother and my stepdad that punishment was swift and the same whether it was found out or not. Point is. Drive the daughter home. She may have been wrong, but her safety and security in you are far more important than a punishment.
Oh geez, with that dad teaching the daughter a lesson story… Thing is, the dude had no clue HOW she got drunk. Even if she just drank straight up and didn’t know her limits, that’s fine - but I’d be worried sick that someone had been sneaking alcohol or something else in her drink. Just because you’re at a party with people you know, doesn’t mean you’re safe from that sometimes. This dude totally broke her trust, put her in danger, and I hope she doesn’t have to go back to him despite the “custody agreement” (I think at 16 you can actually petition to stay with the parent you prefer and advocate for your own custody in some places)
I was out with a group of friends when I got roofied. Supposedly, a friend watched my drink when I went to the bathroom, but she didn’t. Luckily, my best friend was my dd and got me home safe, but still a scary experience
Also, about the "jokester". Self proclaimed "jokesters" are often bullies in disguise. If the one(s) subjected to the joke/prank aren't laughing, then it's not a prank/joke. It's just bullying. Also, a very telling part is that OP's husband is doing it to "get a reaction", not laughs, a reaction. This time he got one, and it had real consequences, so he can't complain about it. OP's husband is a bully and an AH, and OP is an AH for letting him bully her brother and SIL.
The "Father Teaches a Daughter" Story made me think of a school friend who had parents like her dad. The same thing happened to her and instead of looking for a place to stay and be safe in she went outside to try to walk home. I live in the Ottawa Valley--about an hour and 40 from Josh--and it was sadly in the more rural parts of the Valley that the party was held. She was 30 minutes of a walk away from home but the weekend this happened it was below -30°C. My friend didn't make it home. She was found passed on in a forest 20 minutes the opposite way from where her house was. She was so inebriated that she had no idea where she was going. I'm the mother of a 5 year old. My biggest fear is being someone my child is afraid of and won't ask me to go get her in uncomfortable situations. I totally agree with you guys. I would rather my kid call me and ask me to pick her up drunk then losing her because of my assholery. (I was a lame ass teenager too. I liked tea and playing videogames--which I still like at almost 32.).
Planning to commit a crime is a crime in and of itself it's called conspiracy. And in some U.S. states it's illegal to have cameras without telling visitors and in others it's not. Two party v.s. one party consent.
I rarely leave comments, although I binged watch all of the podcasts by now, I think😂 but I really wanted to address the “trying teach daughter a lesson” story. I’m 22 years old and my dad still insists on picking me up from my friends gatherings that are past midnight if I don’t have a ride, because he loves me and wants me safe. As any parent should! Leaving your 16 years old kid at a party where they are alone, uncomfortable and most likely intoxicated is the most fucked up thing to do.
That boy who calls himself a man has completely lost my respect. If your daughter calls and tells you that she feels unsafe where she is, you don't fxxxing throw her to the wolves! I don't care if she's not going to make it home by curfew! You take her seriously! You, as the father, and her legal guardian, should have gotten off of your lazy ass, and went to pick her up! I'm sorry, but that story just infuriated me as a man who wants to be a father.
I'm super late, but my parents always told me that regardless of what time it was or where I was they would come pick me up if I needed them to, no questions asked. It was important to them that I knew I always had a safe way home. Ironically, they got the most introverted kid ever who never went out to parties. I'm now the most introverted adult ever, and I still don't go out to parties. But I know that, if I needed to, I could still call them.
13:13 My initial answer was ESH, because I thought that instead of giving the benefit of the doubt, OP blew it out of proportion. OP's boyfriend sucks, because he jumped stupid, which makes him look sus, IMHO. Upon further inspection, OP did say that she found that earring after she came back from her business trip, which makes her (ex)boyfriend look even more suspicious... And even though I still think she could have conducted her investigation differently, I'm going to change my ESH into an NTA. I also agree that the "Mr Nice Guy" quip was unnecessary, and also the nail in the coffin. Update 1: yeah, the devil's in the details. He definitely cheated. Update 2: holy shit!! Did he really just out himself as a creeper?!
Even if he did take his wife and newborn baby with him he’d still be TA bc she will have just given birth and needs to recover comfortably in her own home, not travel to her in-laws w/ a newborn! That guy is so selfish, this isn’t about him it’s about Mom and baby; his role is to make sure they’re good not add stress. absolutely ridiculous manbaby behaviour
On the “joke” the husband told, 100% an a-hole. The husband’s “jokes” are mean and aren’t jokes, he’s bullying his in brother and sister in law. Comedy is subjective, but you can’t just say “haha you’re infernal and your kid doesn’t have parents”. At this point it’s bullying. Also I have the assumpSEAN that you and two hot takes share stories and sees who talks about them first. IDC love y’all and thanks for not being like tater tot
44:47 my mom always said «if you are ever in trouble, be it drunk or what not, call and we’ll pick you up. We won’t yell/reprimand you then». She also joked that «we’ll even make you a big breakfast when you’re hungover» since I’d probably be so nauseated I wouldn’t want food 😂
Its so weird to hear people from other countries talk about Snapchat being for nakey pics and sketchy shit. Here in Norway its still just the most popular way of communicating with people and less formal than texting
Father "teaches" daughter: I really hope his ex takes him back to court and gets full custody. He left his daughter in a potentially very dangerous situation. He'll probably be surprised in a year or so when his 18 year old goes NC.
Trust me, I've heard some really offensive knock knock jokes, some by friends and some by strangers (the ones from my friends have generally been in "good fun", but they sometimes don't have a good line of what's over the top). I remember one that was very upsetting for me personally. While I don't recall the whole thing, the "joke" was SA related.
I can't believe this. I used to hate podcast for various reasons. But this podcast here has caused me to turn over a new leaf. The friendship between these three fellows makes me feel amazing. And now I will explore more podcast, even if those others are trash I will still have these guys. PS. I am a female who poops naked. We exist. Love you all! Keep up the good work.
If you're looking for another podcast with the same energy but different subject matter, I highly recommend Sad Boyz hosted by Jarvis Johnson and Jordan Adika.
We LOVE fan art!! If it's digital fan art you can submit on our subreddit or send it to us on Instagram 😊 we are working on getting a PO Box for tangible art!
I'm still sad I missed the premier and the live chat this morning 😭Sitting here watching and reading the live chat giggling to Drella's good morning message though 😂 OP and the husband in the first story are both awful, he's not a "jokester" he's a d**k. OP in the second story absolutely needs to get away from him, get herself tested and maybe talk to the cops about the videos! I DO KNOW WHO I AM! 🤣🤣 I'm so sad you guys did my story and I missed it! 4 years later and I still don't feel bad about doing that 😂🤷♀I wasn't kidding when I said I wish John was my HR rep at that time! 😅 I did end up quitting a few months after he quit to move to a different city! I have a much healthier work environment now with an amazing HR rep and a union rep! Thank you for choosing my story! I love this podcast, you guys are the best part of my week and I appreciate the support in my petty revenge 😄❤
I think this is the first time i actually disagree with Sean, cause i do think stand up comedians are the f*cking root of all evil when it comes to jokes. They normalized trashing women, trashing other races and minorities, and it's because they are aplauded for that that normal, everyday people feel entitled to make these jokes as well. I hate comedians, i swear to god 😂 there are so very few i actually like and find ACTUALLY funny, its sad
I wasn't the one who left the original review, but I want you all to know that I've noticed that you're making an effort to take the Lord's name in vain less. I appreciate that
I recommend this podcast to every man I know, gonna make masculinity less toxic one man at a time 🤣😅
Undoing everything Tater Tot has done 😅
@@RedditOnWiki pls and thank u 🙏 ❤️❤️❤️
Masculinity is fine , its people who are toxic so maybe rethink your statement. Same thing with toxic feminism.
@@vincentzhaiven4017that’s what they meant by the comment 😂 toxic masculinity
@@RedditOnWikiROTFLMAO!
The way Sean is swaying back and forth and his mouth isn't moving reminds me of an NPC in a video game 🤣🤣🤣 got me dying
40:04 If I was your ex-wife, and my daughter told me what you did, I'd be pushing for full custody after that! Those are not the actions of a father!

I also went to my grandmother because my parents weren’t it.

This was my thoughts too, she may have tried to stick by her dad’s rules, but someone could have drugged her drink or put alcohol in it.
I was out with a group of friends when I got roofied. Supposedly, a friend watched my drink when I went to the bathroom, but she didn’t. Luckily, my best friend was my dd and got me home safe, but still a scary experience

Real talk, a company ignoring sexual harassment? To me, that speaks to corruption

As someone who worked at a car dealership... that co-worker story is 100% how a lot of dealerships are.
Found y’all on tiktok, love this podcast and the dedicasean you guys show every episode
Love the pun! And thank you we love the adora-sean! ❤️
Only 8 weeks paternity/maternity leave (or 16 weeks in total) sounds crazy to me as an European 😮
30:29 You are NTA at all, but I would have raised more hell than that.
