My automatic watch has 200m of water resistance or 660 ft and it is extremely more complicated and the WR50 doesn't refer to depth it refers to how much pressure it can withstand so his test and claims are absolutely wrong
@@Chiefab22 not exactly. water resistance is not the same thing as water proof. The standard automatic dive watch is usually 200 meters water resistance. And many regular automatic watches, such as my orient bambino, have 30 meters water resistance, but that doesn’t mean it’s well equipped for 90 or so ft of water. It means it’s ok if you splash some water on it, but you should never go swimming with it, especially in salt water.
It can theoretically go down to 50 meters but when the watch is moved in any direction down that deep such as swimmers moving their arms to swim, then the watch would fail because the pressure would be greater than that depth. That’s why they say no scuba diving.

Great reviews. What about dropping the watch. I had an Apple Watch 4 and I drop it form 4 ft and the screen crack very bad.
Thanks for a detailed and mostly scientific testing of the watch. Your video is concise, clear and easy to watch. I'm looking for an impact rating of the watch. I know that some models had a synthetic sapphire crystal face. I do lots of mechanical work (automotive, motorcycles..) and metal fabrication. Not sure if I will destroy watch face in my daily work.

Is it possible to do a test in sauna in 100 or 90 degrees celsius or steam room? I use very often and i am used to go with my garmin watch and check the pulse sensor and thinking to try with apple watch but i cannot find test for this thank you

Curious you used distilled water, but swimming usually involves chlorine or salt water if in the ocean. How long can you actually swim for with it on

it would be cool if this same test was done 2 years after to see if it still is water and dust proof. I have had both a fossil smart watch and apple watch S3 break from being in the water but only after 1.5 years or more. On Apples site it does say soap damages the water proof seal over time so I think thats why both mine broke since I showered with them often.
I have a series 7 and I think it is bloody brilliant I recommend getting stainless steel 41mm

Honestly not worth opening it, it’s too expensive (and nice). Maybe in a few weeks when it’s obsolete…
my apple 7 lens cracked and i don't know how its 3 months old and the told me it was over $300 to replace the lens plus shipping. The watch with tax was $460 that is almost $800 and it can crack again and again and again replace a battery or two i should have bought a ROLEX
we should test also series 4-5-6 and maybe they’ll pass too
I have a series 7 but I have never been near water using it, for such things I use my always good Casio Marlin, can't go wrong this this Casio tank of a watch!
I’ve been using my series 7 in swimming since the watch came out, I swim almost every day in ocean and in normal pools even hottubs and the watch hasent shown signs of any damage or anything!

How is the screen scratch durability? Hearing reports this screen scratches much easier compared to S6? I think they are sourcing the glass from somewhere inferior in rush to get product out during supply chain crisis
I actually noticed the glass in the apple store was scratched the first day they had it on display. I only care about scratch tests to be honest.

Seems to me, a better dust test would be a wind chamber so you can simulate high energy dust particulates, such as machine woodcutting.
Oh boy,…. WR50 is regarding the pressure! If you dive to a certain depth and move tour hand; you create more pressure by moving your hand. So it is about the atm.
We're experiencing compressed music and voice quality. Try testing both music and voice to see if this sound is good or not. If you think that there are lots of glitches or the music and voice sounds like old call quality, then it's not Sara Dietschy's subscribers.
Will it survive the same water test but with salt water ?
Have some of my son play doh stuck inside the right corner of the screen. And use a a4 paper to get them out. There is a gap that I can stick the a4 paper into it.
Tons of work, preparation, diligence, trials, studying, money, theory, support and not a single trace of talent.

Why not suba diving, because one thing is to take the watch 50 m deep and keep it still, and other is to take it 20 m and start moving it with your arm, those psi will kill the AW due to incremental pressure you apply.

I fella asleep one night woke up and my Apple Watch wasn’t on my nightstand, it turns out one of my nieces or nephews grabbed it and started messing with it it’s all scratched up and stuff not cracked but my brother has one and his dropped when trying to put it on and it chipped so he’s scared to go swimming with it and stuff🤣

Word of warning for everyone. My 2 year old Apple Watch just died due to water damage after going swimming in a shallow pool about 4 times a year. I didn’t take it off in the shower most days though and didn’t care if shampoo got on the watch. It destroyed the seals around the screen over time and now I’ve a dead Apple Watch.
Testing the waterproof performance of a brand new watch is one thing, but testing the same watch in. 2~3 years time may show every different results
The issue with durability is not right after the test, it's 1 or 2 years after. I have just opened an old series 3 and it was all rusty with Corrosion inside. Probably over time it's water resistant to swimming damaged.

It’s not scratch resistant at all. Mine is brand new and got a deep scratch on it and I’m not sure how.

I have the Series 6 and the Series 7 doesn’t look like it’s too much of an upgrade. With that being said, I just don’t know how much more they can pack onto the watch to make it more appealing, it’s kind of the pinnacle of smart watches; perhaps a longer battery life?
Probably they will find a way to measure blood sugar and blood pressure somehow i guess.
Battery life could improve a lot with the new micro led display that could come in a couple of years along with some advancement in battery tech to put in greater density batteries.
Battery life, if there was some Watch bands that could add a day or two I’d be very happy. I’ve been looking at Garmins because of this, and the advanced fitness features.
@@jamesryan4425 I agree the battery is atrocious, however I have a Garmin too, battery life is amazing (about two weeks) but the iPhone wipes the Garmin in terms of abilities and ease.

I washed mine in 40 degrees for a hour in a washing machine and dried it in my drier for a hour it survived
