    This video is helping me in June 2022. Very clear and concise. Thanks man 💪

    A small update from my previous comment: It's been a year since I did the subframe bushings, however I did the trailing arms and the upper differential bushing as well as the dogbones and it made a huge difference to me. It now feels like the rear stopped steering on its own and the car feels a lot more stable on the road, I feel like the front end needs some TLC as well in order to complete it all. Dropping the clutch used to give me mad vibrations, but now all that is gone. You might notice a bit more noise coming from the back end, but it's nothing to worry about. Polyurethane bushings is a must have recommendation from me.

    Great method! Can't believe how quickly you did this job.. Why pull the whole subframe out when you can do this? Keep up the great work man

      Do you remember the diameter of that bearing spacer you used?

      Hy I bought the black ones. I tried getting the polyurethane ones but they don t have it for my car. Will it work with normal bushings ? Putting them on ?

    Hi again mate, just did this on the e32: thumbsup. Followed your guide and it all went to plan, wtf! haha Didnt even try the oem ones and just bought the same powerflex ones and all good. Did the dogbones at the same time. Cant believe the difference this has made to the car. There was quite a bit of movement on the inner part of the original bushes. A tad more road noise like you said but well worth it as theres no more tramlining, tracks along straight and the handling is better as well, feels more stable all over. Now for my trip to the Nurburgring ring end of next month. Thanks again for the helpful guides mate, much appreciated: thumbsup.

    It just took me 3 and a half hours to get ONE e61 rear subframe bushing out, using "BMW bushing removal kit" itttt was a nightmare....tomorow i will use your gravity method. I BET IT WILL GET THE JOB DONE IN 20 MIN. Thank for the great idea.

  • @anonintellect9882
    @anonintellect9882 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Method works great, I used 70mm diameter 3mm thick Steel discs X 6 as spacer as well as two collars from struts, could use 15 - 20 steel discs (available online pretty cheep) instead, steel discs came out of line on the first bushing, bushing caught fire, KEEP A FIRE EXTINGUISHER CLOSE BY FOR SAFETY, if it doesn't come out quite easily with moderate heat check alignment of spacer, do not continue to roast until fire particularly without extinguisher, other than that job went smooth, lining back up was a bit of a PITA but got there in the end, thanks for the video, great tutorial saved some wonga and was pretty straight forward, Top Man, thank you very much for sharing, Bless.

    • @SamuelVella1995
      @SamuelVella1995  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rear end is noticeably firmer, and so a little bit harsher over speed bumps etc, but nothing bad. It feels better in corners. The only bad thing so far is a slight vibration which comes through at 30 -40 kph, but I'm pretty sure it's because my driveshaft is slightly out of alignment which will be fixed soon.

    Hi again mate, gonna be doing this on my e32 in the next few weeks. I noticed in one of your comments putting new oem ones back would be a a lot harder, have you done this or how is it harder? Do they not go in so easy? Thanks. Was thinking some grease would help them slide into the sleeve.

    • @SamuelVella1995
      @SamuelVella1995  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +ronaldo ronna Hey mate. Yeah it would definitely be a lot harder using oem bushings, as from what I've heard you need to press them in from above. So, you'll need enough room to get the bushing in, which might be a bit tight, and then you'll need to come up with a way of pressing the bushing in while the subframe is still on the car. Maybe two bits of flat bar steel and booker rod on either side, which you tighten up slowly?

    • @sumo1756
      @sumo1756 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate thanks for the quick reply. Think ill still go for it as i want to keep the original feel, the e32 really is very smooth. Im thinking ill get an extended bolt with nut and 2 big washers and try winding the bush into the sleeve with a round head spanner then fit the original splined bolt. Ill let you know for future reference how i get on, good or bad! haha. All the best: thumbsup

    Thanks for your straightforward tutorial Videos .. used most of them to fix my e34 525i.. i‘m surprised how neat your e34 looks like.. here in bavaria most parts under my car look like rusty chunks of scrap metal, you barely see e34 on the road these days

      +V A Hey man! Thanks, I'm surprised as well. Cars in Australia rust much less than over there in Bavaria because it doesn't snow.

    It's been a while since you posted this but my E34 needs the same work. I am not a mechanic so I could not do the job myself but when I spoke to my garage they said it could take over 10 hours. You don't mention how long it took you but I wonder if the garage includes removing the subframe to do it not the way you did it, on the car. And it would be easier for the garage since they can hoist the car up.

    I am now seriously considering this for my 528i stroker, what are the pros of having poly bushings there in the rear? I do sometimes take mine sideways, but it's mostly a daily driver.

    • @SamuelVella1995
      @SamuelVella1995  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Detective Malaysian Cancer First of all: hell yeah you have a stroker? How does it go?
      The main pro is that the polyurethane is stiffer than rubber, so there's less movement and 'sway' than with stock rubber. This means a firmer rear end and better response from the rear, I noticed my car feels a lot tighter during corners now.
      The other pro is durability, as you'll never have to replace them ever again because poly lasts a lifetime.
      There are some cons though, such as a harsher ride, and potentially more vibrations coming through from the road. I have a vibration that comes through at 35 kph now, but i think it might be because my driveshaft is slightly out of alignment.

    • @bmxismylife123
      @bmxismylife123 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've heard some say that theirs lasted like 60km and they just went back to OEM. I'll take a look at the pricing and will probably add it to my to-do list.

    • @SamuelVella1995
      @SamuelVella1995  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    my jack points are rusted through to the point where the weight of the car alone will shove them up through the frame (don't ask how I know, the memory of the sound is traumatic enough) so do you have any recommendations on good places to put the jack stands?
