    "He is supposed to be blond" is a reference to the comics, Lucifer was modeled after David Bowie originally in Sandman by request of Neil Gaiman.

    The part where Lucifer has had enough of the ritual and opens the door into Chloe's face always makes me laugh...

    The dad of the victim did not know about what his daughter was up to because he didn’t live with her. It’s not his house
    Also, did you recognize the preacher outside the crime scene. He was the one Lucifer showed his “face” to earlier in the season.
    Dan’s biggest failure is he always wants to “fix” things himself but he’s not very good at it. He always seems to go about things the wrong way.
    Amenadiel is “watching over the gates of hell” in some mysterious way. You asked what he does all day…probably just that. Flying to hell and back. He doesn’t really interact with humans. He would just use his gift to slow down time, pop in to do what he was there to do, then leave again undetected. He’s probably using all of his time watching Lucifer and Maze and checking in on Malcolm when he’s not guarding hell. It wouldn’t surprise me if he stole money from humans to arrange his earthly abode…he doesn’t really think much of humans and has very low morals when it comes to them…or us?!?

      As I recall, it isn't directly stated that the victim's father doesn't live with her, but I think it was implied by the fact he wasn't aware of the "hidden" parts of her home. I guess they could have done a little bit more to make the viewers aware of this, but it wasn't probably considered all that important to the story. Or maybe there was a scene that mentioned the victim was not living with her father that got cut during editing.

      I got the same feeling it wasn’t the dad’s house when at 8:06 he said “I should have reached out…. called more” in reference to his daughter.

    The "you're supposed be blonde" exchange is a reference to the character in the comics which (very loosely) inspired the show. The Lucifer in the was partially modelled on David Bowie and was blonde.

    • @LuisManuelLealDias
      @LuisManuelLealDias 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's also a very loose "inspiration", but mostly it's not just an inspiration, it's the actual character (Lucifer Morningstar) that was created by Neil Gaiman, adapted in a veeeery different way, in a different tone, setting, etc. But it's supposed to be the same character.

    Of all the tragic things in this episode, the worst has to be the destruction of Lucifer's liquor shelf.

  • @bardust
    @bardust 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +41

    It's only implied through dialogue that the dad did not live with his daughter. It wasn't his house, she'd moved out. Which is why he said he should've called more.

  • @ElderonAnalas
    @ElderonAnalas 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I think the thing you're missing with the dad and the secret room, is the fact it was Rose's apartment. The dad did not live there with her. Presumably he was there to both get questions asked to him, and unlock the place with a spare key he probably had.

  • @stargazer1682
    @stargazer1682 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    7:28 Chloe said they were going to "meet Rose's father *_at her apartment."_* As in, it wasn't the father's place. Even missing that line, it's called context clues; they were estranged, the father said he felt he should have called her more. Clearly they were no longer living together...

    Ah, yes. The evergreen problem of: why don't the characters just speak plainly to one another and tell the truth?
    Television. That's why. In this case, since Chloe thinks that Dan broke up with her over text, she doesn't want to talk to him. Dan, of course, has to sputter and choke every time he tries to talk with her in order to drag this out for one more episode.

      Dan? The Dan who actually shot Malcolm and never reported it, and gaslighted his wife about the Palmetto case in order to keep his involvement secret, and then checked a gun out of evidence lockup to give to dirty-cop Malcolm for who knows what nefarious purpose? That Dan? Yeah, I can't think of why he wouldn't tell his estranged wife and _fellow police officer_ all those sordid details when it looks like there's still a chance the whole thing will blow over. (Since Lucifer's not dead.)

    For any lawyer to prove that Lucifer did not fire the gun would be very easy, he does not have gunpowder in his hand. Lucifer's face in the final scene is because he can't believe that Chloe is targeting him and thinking that he is responsible for a murder.

    There is an urban legend in LARPing (impro theater without audience) where a bunch of players thought summoning a daemon would solve their problems. In short they went of to a nearby clearing in the middle of the night while the DMs where busy finding for a costume and NPC (actor) for the unplanned daemon role. When everything was ready the DM briefed him and send him after the players. After some searching he finds a bunch of people in ropes standing in a circle reading from a book. After the end of the ritual he throws some fog and steps forward announcing his presents in a dark voice. -- And the whole group just screamed and ran into the forest. -- on his way back to the camp he found a second group - the players.

    In this context, Hell is similar to a corporation that doesn't have a CEO:
    It's fairly self-sufficient from day to day;
    While it runs mostly well, there is a sense something important may be missing;
    Not just anyone can appoint a new CEO;
    An interim/replacement was selected, but he hasn't shoen up for work;
    And the information trickles down from the top worse than most corporations.

  • @ZariDV
    @ZariDV 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I can only speculate but here's my take. I think Dan being so hesitant to tell Chloe the truth is partially because he's afraid of the potential snowball effect. Chloe is not one to just let things go. She's going to ask questions, pry, double check, and confront others. She's not the type to simply accept that Dan just got beaten up by Malcolm randomly and then Malcolm decided to steal his phone and send a breakup text to her. She'll find that fishy and go straight to the source to ask questions.
    The last thing Dan wants is Chloe prying because Malcolm only needs Chloe to breathe in his general direction and he'll willingly throw Dan under the bus. Chloe thinking Dan was just a flakey ex who's acting hot and cold is way better than her finding out that he was at the heart of the Palmetto St debacle, it was his fault she became a social pariah and his shady mess is why they divorced.
    So him staying quiet about this can be redeemed, but the truth is something he can't come back from. The last thing he needs is her confronting Malcolm and asking questions because he will 100% overshare about things she never asked about. She's not going to buy that Malcolm did it for no reason. It's too personal an attack to physically fight someone and take their phone to mess with their ex-wife. Chloe would want to know the motive

    There's a few fits and starts in the overall plot lines in season 1. Like Amenadiel guarding hell. I presume it was in part because Fox was meddlesome, and/or the writers had not yet fully developed all the back and fore story. Fear not it all gets sorted and more coherent as episodes progress. Oh and implied or shown in the case of Lucifer, Angels seem to have no problem accumulating lots of money. How else did Amenadiel gather enough to rent medical office space in downtown LA???

    I think this is the first big moment of Lucifer's internalized insecurity about being evil. How much it affects him when humans keep calling him evil and blaming their evil deeds on him. It's more than just an annoyance, like most things for him; it eats him up inside 😢
    Also, Dan can't just tell Chloe the truth about what happened with Malcolm, because the whole story incriminates him in multiple crimes.

Considering here it was more gradual while the others descend into a breakdown more instantly. With the exception of the last one, which had the best timed freak out in the series

    Dan did say nothing cause like Malcolm said in earlier epsiodes: dan is a dirty cop and did shady things in the past which Malcolm can prove, so by saying or explaining things He would probably get in real big trouble. And moreover He is a coward, sorry but i have my problems with dan as a dirty cop that is something i find horrible because He is representing a force that should be there to protect and people like him are the worse. 😢😢😢

    I think 90% of problems in any story can be solved by just talking to someone. I know when i have a problem i find the source and deal with it. When you write stories how do you avoid the lack of communication trope we tend to find in all stories but especially in the romance variety?

    I agree. I also disliked this plot twist...
    I kinda liked the satanists plot - you knew that Lucifer would have a run in with something like that eventually... Its just too comic of a situation to ignore.
    No Lucifer may not kill humans either, he's still an angel - an expression of god's will. Nor Maize, as a demon she's an expression of Satan's will... Killing is off the table for any celestial being.
