ADVICE FOR BEGINNERS!!! Please never play the melee build, you will simply ruin your impression of the game, the melee gameplay is very boring and without internet tips it is impossible to beat the final boss.
The final boss can be defeated with unarmed and with no armor on. The thing is to cripple limbs to deny them use of their weapons and beat them in their heads to uncontiousness. Then hit in the eyes. As for melee build, check what stats you are gonna need for the Slayer perk, choose bloody mess trait and find a sledgehammer and a supersledge after. And that's it. Barbarian melee killing machine tougher than the legate Lanius himself is on the way!
I mean don’t get me wrong I love frank horrigan but there is no way he is better than the master. He’s really cool and intimidating but the writing for the master is top tier on top of the phenomenal presentation with his design and voice.
4:52 I actually choose to kill them all to resucre Vic in all my placethroughs, first it's a good challenge to test my build, second they are really not that bad especially if you use lockpicking skill to lock all the doors in the building, and finally their loot is a very nice begining stash to afford all the expensive armor and weapon later on. All in all a good challenge for a really nice reward.
My old friends know me for pushing ff7 and fallout 2 as a teenager. I was a talking billboard for those games. Fallout was super fun, but part 2 blew me away.
My opinion on Fallout 1 vs 2 has definitely changed over the years. As a kid I always preferred Fallout 2 but going back and playing them as an adult I think I prefer the tone of the original. Fallout 2 is a mechanically superior game to be sure, but it's constant time period specific pop culture references aged like milk (as referential humour often does) and give me hardcore Gex vibes, which is not a good thing.
Replaying the gex games now is a mixed bag. I personally like the references to Austin Powers and such but gex is a motor mouth and it does get annoying
The dialogue choices that we can have are crazy where we can be a d#%k or be the most wholesome character ever. And it’s really impact the relationship with that particular character sometimes
Even as a huge fan of the old fallouts, I think people should expect a flawed and at times frustrating experience. Don't let the need to reload and reroll a few times deter you. Once you get going properly the game pays off though.
I'm soon to play the old ones for the first time, but too be fair I think this statement applies to all the fallout games except 4 and 76... so all the good ones.
@SpecShadow rerolling and playing with an optimized build with foreknowledge can easily have as big an impact on difficulty as playing on easy mode. Tbh most people go easy on themselves that way.
Fallout 2 is a game that bets better with each new "Fallout" installment. Or should I say everything else gets progressively worse (with exception of NV) so it looks insanely amazing in comparison. Also, if you want a car in newer titles, there is a mod for NV that lets's you drive that sweet ass Highwayman.
I mean, even though I think of NV as the best installment in the series (for the 3D games) it has some issues... For one, while the writing is great, no location feels as well put together outside of main story areas, and FO2 did NOT have that issue. The 18 month contract gets blamed, a lot, but Obsidian employees even said that wasn't why they had such a crunch, had more to do with the higher ups deciding they could make like triple the named locations. Obsidian has no old Black Isle employees anymore btw, mostly due to that mentality, the whole "we'll surely get more time if we ask in the last 2 months of this 18 month DLC spin-off, right?" sorta deal. Zenimax was a shit publisher btw, since Bethesda was said to want to give more time, or give them the bonus even with a lower score by that single rating point, but Zenimax was worried about getting it out the door, and their "poor poor shareholders" being "conned" out of cash.
Well it's greatest game all time for me no explanation needed :) ( But i can't split Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 soo i considered both of them as one bundle Game :) , soo technically Fallout 1 is my favorite game all time also :))
Got an question How to get to The Stables with like 3 INT i wanted to do the one quest where u need to talk with little jesus but i cant cuz only the tribal speaking thing happens
Fallout 2 is definitely good but I would concur that Fallout 1 is the better of the two. Fallout 2 is great (everything is dialed up to 11) but at the cost of some of the focus and cohesiveness of the original. Of the two, Fallout 1 is the only game I've completed multiple times. Fallout 2 I usually burn out around the Den.
Lol am I the only one who remembers the fallout 2 commercials? Used to see it all the time and it used to scare me and it haunted my nightmares. Then I played it 10 years later and I realized I was meant to play this game 😂
i have an question i play fallout 2 rn and came out of temple and now got that one quest still on that open map i goed to klathmath or what that city next to the start place is i go there but as i press on that one button to enter it nothing happens
Just finished it finally. It's definitely a couple of tiers below fallout 1 but it's better than the 3D fallouts (besides NV). It's too big and unfocused with plenty of weak locations, the humour is just pop culture references and the writing while being okay is much weaker than 1. It doesn't have the atmosphere of 1, and the dark humour has been replaced with a lighter jokey tone which the series went hard into since Bethesda bought it out.
I see Fallout 2 as the Tears of the Kingdom to Fallout 1’s Breath of the Wild. FO2 is amazing and expansive and an improvement on perfection, but that doesn’t make FO1 any less perfect.
Fallout 2 is good, but nowhere near as great as the original, which was a genuine masterpiece. It's barely a sequel, more of a glorified expansion pack.
I am not sure if its best.. :D game suffers from clinging story of long gone vault dweller and not making a story of it self. Except enclave addition. Also game start is painful. You have a spear and garbage trial.. it drives me mad when I try new builds. IMO Arrayo and vault dweller's descendent story not a good one.. They should have a pick a new hero not tied to previous story. But outside this story / trial part game amazing. Not a masterpiece but amazing.
a lot of its decisions seem like they were made because of both time constraints and a few original team members like Tim Cain, Leonard Boryarsky and Jason Anderson not being involved because they were off founding Troika games. tim has a whole video of why he left on his channel
The trial actually turned me off several years ago when I tried the game for the first time. It's such a boring start honestly, and the whole tribal thing just didn't match my expectation of this post-apocalyptic low sci-fi world.
I wish there was a console port of this game, I've been wanting to play it for a while now but I don't have a pc. Unfortunately fallout on steam doesn't run on a chromebook, only windows :(
How they make Fallout 1: ugh.. okay we can do this. We have to try How they make Fallout 2: MAKE IT BIG, MAKE IT MORE CITIES, MAKE IT MORE QUESTS. Most important all, DON’T NEED TO IMPROVE OUR GAME ENGINE= MUNEH MAKING METHOD😂😂😂
I mean not really lmao it’s considerably easier to make a game when most of the heavy lifting is done for you and you can solely focus on ways to make it better. How is a project getting done in a quarter of the time being called a quick sequel wrong at all? I don’t get how you think the term is negative either considering most of the examples he showed are even more popular than the games they’re sequels to and better done

am i allowed to play a Throwing build as my first run? i want to do grenades only
Iirc melee with slayer trait and powerfist can be incredibly powerful, strong enough to solo the final boss
I mean don’t get me wrong I love frank horrigan but there is no way he is better than the master. He’s really cool and intimidating but the writing for the master is top tier on top of the phenomenal presentation with his design and voice.
I liked how the masters reason for what he was doing actually made some sense and it felt like he was actively trying to win
Not to mention the early CGI makes his appearance far more memorable.
And his ideology, too.
It's not a fair comparison. You need to compare the Master to the President. Frank Horrigan is just the muscle for the President.

Maybe that's how you rig a game to be among the best
I’m so glad I did, I’m nearly at the end and it’s a lot of fun, I’ll never get the feeling of playing it for the first time back though.

The Pirate Bay?
Although I have 'em on GoG, I'm not sure they are still available.

1 is too short tbh for me while 2 feels like we have more freedom of where to go while still retaining the punishment of 1
