Thank you so much for this. I'm just starting out with Unreal Engine, and I wanted to make a reproduction of classic Doom's E1M1 map. But once I got into the Unreal Engine Editor, I realized it was not going to be as easy as I thought. This geometry tool demonstrated in this video is EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you so much.

I was looking for something like that recently. I found paid addon for blender. It is grid modeller.
Now only thing left is "first person view" version of this type of modeling. Basically Minecraft with little blocks mod or chisel mod with additional ability to "fillet" and "chamfer" edges.
Probably esiest way it would be to make modification for minetest and add option to export modles as 3d objects

What I'm wondering now is if there's a way to export the map to have as a reference in an actual modeling tool. It would be nice to be able to work directly off the greybox when the time came.

Hey thanks for your comment! Hum, maybe if you look at mesh painting using the UE5 modeling mode? I haven't tried that but I think it can work :)

    • @evansbohl

Hi smepable! Thanks a lot for your comment 😁 Yes I think it's possible but unfortunately I don't know the modeling mode enough so I won't be able to tell you how ^^

Thank you. Played with it. No idea what to do next but its a nice start. Edit: Been trying it out. After some days the blocks just disappeared. I am sure I did something stupid. It also seems it was attached to my SkyBox some how. Now I will scrap that test level area because I wasted 48h on it :D

8 days later, and I feel like I can do this blindfolded. Thank you for the tutorial. Do you think the grid + skin will work in a basic 2,5D FPS shooter with low end graphics? And what about the light? Lumen seems overkill for it. Thoughts? Thanks again.
