    what we have learned from this is only one herald was required. Taln is that one guy in a college project just holding up the entire thing.

    I like that Kalak is aware enough about his condition that he gives Adolin some really good, and frank advice that allows him to manipulate the verdict of the trial ultimately.

      @sgtplop 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @vanTersec i think it was that the honorspren would never sinply accept any argument Adolin could make for the sake of Honor since the honorspren see themselves of honor and no matter what adolin says they will never accept a humans honor to their own, even if objectively their honor is flawed they cannot see it as so, because their very being to them is in accordance with honor. That and also that adolin risks the honorspren defecting to Odiums side by coming to lasting integrity. Good job Maya was there tho frfr

    Great video. A theory I believe strongly in is that Siah Aimians are Ishar'd Honourspren. (I think that's been theorised long ago, though).
    Honestly, Rhythm of War was so extreme in terms of wider-Cosmere exploration, I thought less than half of it would be in SA 5, let alone book 4.
    As for the Heralds, well, they're the keys to Roshar's past. They're definitely going to be very significant. (I'd also love to see them interact with other Cognitive Shadows like Vasher and Kelsier)

    What a great comprehensive overview of where the heralds stand rn! I'm certainly looking forward to seeing what the heck Ishar is up to.
    One thing I want to bring attention to that you didn't mention was the fact that Dalinar somehow used his bondsmith powers to TEMPORARILY BREAK ISHAR'S MADNESS!!! This has some major implications about the heralds in general, as well as Ishar himself!
    First off, this shows that the heralds madness possibly comes from a lack of Connection to Honor, which makes me wonder a lot about Taln. Since he didn't break, it is possible that his madness is only the result of his long time spent on Braize and NOT because he's disconnected with honor. His madness doesn't twist his intentions as when we first see him, he's acting like the herald he should be (albeit traumatized), and he does seem to be less 'crazy' and more just depressed once he finds out what happened with the other heralds.
    Next, Ishar himself says during the 'reConnection' (if I may call it that), that Dalinar must come to Shinovar to help reset the Oathpact. I think he has a way to resurrect Honor (or at least his power) using Dalinar and possibly helping him take up the shard with his bondsmith powers.
    What will ultimately happen remains to be seen...

    Another great video! I always enjoy watching them, and this update on the Heralds is much needed, given the way Stormlight is going to go.
    I must admit, I'm not the biggest fan of the "Shallan's mother is Chanarach" theory, but that is mostly because of the lack of more concrete evidence and the fact I subscribe to the idea that Rayse found another way to escape Braize. Something far more interesting, that may or may not involve the Everstorm, which never existed until this Desolation, which in itself is proof that Rayse was trying new and creative ideas.
    I'll be honest, I've not put as much thought into the process Ishar was using to pull spren into the Physical Realm. Upon my next sets of rereads, I'll have it on my mind.
    But I must repeat myself when I say that I thoroughly enjoyed this video. You make easily the best Cosmere videos out there on TH-cam (baring anything on Sanderson's channel) and I'm always looking forwards for your next video! (Although, I miss your intro featuring most of the planets)

    • @LoreoftheWorlds
      @LoreoftheWorlds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank You!
      I don't know if I believe the shallan mother theory either, but it definitely is one of the more interesting explanations as to what's going on there.
      And the planets intro is probably coming back, I just felt this video in particular felt much smoother by jumping right in. I'm working on updating it for future videos, but that might take a bit of time.
      I can't wait for the back 5 books - Sanderson has said there is a much bigger emphasis placed on the heralds, which brings up some interesting questions about how the finale of the first half might play out.

    What if Spren were originally able to have physical bodies in the Physical realm once bonded, but the capturing of Ba-Ado-Mishram removed this ability? Similar to how the Singers lost their forms? Ishar, in his insanity, is messing with the laws of the Cosmere to try and return the Spren of Roshar to their previous forms without restoring the Singer's ability to shift forms more freely?

    Good recap thanks.
    I don't think Ishar is trying to fuse people and spren though. I think the organs are a very real side effect of spren physically manifesting in a world they aren't supposed to exist in physically. Yes, as ideas and forces they can interact with the world to a degree, but they don't fully exist there. Pulling them from Shadesmar into the physical world forces them to manifest there and abide by the rules of the physical world, causing the ramshackle biology as a consequence. I think 😂

    I'm not sold on Chanarach as Shallan's mom. Mostly, I just don't buy that she can get sniped by a kid, surprise shardblade or no. They are all supposed to be preternaturally gifted warriors.
    I'm also not at all sure how I feel about the Breaking. Somehow, a ton of voidspren came across, some of them years ago. Before, even, Shallan's mom died, unless I'm getting my Ulim timeframe confused. How did the Fused come back before? Why are they always doing it via the Everstorm now? Would a Herald being dead and on Braize even hold them at this point?
