This is the new Ferrari Purosangue, the first ever SUV to wear the prancing horse badge.
That said, Ferrari are refusing to admit that this is in fact an SUV, despite the raised ride height and tall four-door bodystyle…
Even though this is a first for the brand, there are plenty of design features which have been lifted from other Ferrari models. The headlights look a bit like those you’ll find on the SP1 Monza, while the air vents behind the doors and the kinked side windows are rather Ferrari FF-esque.
From the rear, the Purosangue looks a bit like a Ferrari Roma which has eaten one too many pies. It may be polarising, but you can’t deny that this is one of the most imposing-looking new cars revealed in a long time.
That raised bonnet is hiding something equally as impressive, a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 with 725hp and 716Nm of torque. This SUV has its sights firmly set on the W12 engined Bentley Bentayga Speed.

I had the pleasure of renting a GTC4Lusso all wheel drive front engine Ferrari in Miami last year and drove the family down to key west. A fantastic car. It could easily be a daily driver.

The FF had a front 2sp gearbox in front of the engine driving the front axle. The 7sp is mounted in the rear axle.This looks to be the same layout.

@Gen I don't know about pounds, but we all know that the Italian kilogram weights less than, say, a German kilo. That is the pink elephant though

It looks great. Looks like a tall ff. Very nice proportions.
Not so much sold on gas engine as before. Prefer plug in hybrids with about 18kw battery, keeps the gas for long distance or if left uncharged but if the pumps are out of gas still have an option to recharge and go to a pump with gas.
Respect to mat giving us all the info we need be it a ferrari or a peugeot and for providing info so quickly keep it up mat 👏

@@joesifa5235 nope. The Cayenne Turbo GT is 8 seconds faster than the Urus round the Nürburgring. It's also way faster in 0-60 and the quarter mile.

As cool as suicide doors are, they are impractical on an SUV that’s supposed to be daily driven and parked in busy places alongside other cars. Not only do they open way too wide for opening next to another car, if the passenger in the back and the passenger in the front get out at the same time (more common than not), one would have to wait until the other exits before they could. Just an odd design that’s more of a flex than practically useful.
Hot Take: All of those cars that can hit 60 in 3.3 seconds have at least some offroad capability and each cost at least 100 grand less. But the best thing about them. They actually look like SUV's. The Purosuange looks cool, but it doesn't look like an SUV, it looks more like a jacked up hatchback. The Purosuange is an SUV like the new Honda Civic is a Hatchback, it's not.

To me, at least in pictures, it looks more like a crossover than an SUV.

@@adcevita The main difference between an SUV and a crossover is the architecture they are built on, not their size. SUV is body on frame and crossover is unibody.
I’m glad that you made emphasis on the fact that the Purosangue has a naturally aspirated V12 engine. I’m also glad that Ferrari proved a lot of people wrong, those who thought that this car would not be a V12 anymore, or that it would be turbo, hybrid, or both. There’re several videos around where the reviewers keep on saying that the 812 would be “the last one”.
And by the way, I’m not really sure if you mention it or not, but this car, SUV or whatever you want to call it, has a front-mid engine layout, because it’s mounted behind the front axle. I’m sure you did notice though.
About the 2 rear seats, I’m sure Ferrari did it on purpose so that nobody can possibly bother on even mentioning the “ lack of space” for the one in the middle.
And about the name, call it whatever you want but this “SUV” has still got a front-mid mounted naturally aspirated V12 engine with more power than what the competition can muster even by using turbos. This exceeds their hp figures by a large margin without the need to adorn its engine with any one of those gizmos. Not even with the aid of twin-turbos can the competition get anywhere close in terms of horse power.
And about the acceleration figures, although you mentioned correctly that it’s 3.3 sec 0-62 mph is the same as the Cayenne Turbo GT and Aston Martin, you forgot to mention that this car is a full second quicker than the Lamborghini Urus Performante from 0-125 mph (200 kph).
About the top speed of 193 mph though, I’d like to know where in the world apart from the German Autobahn on a very lucky day, so quite frankly, if it’s 193, 203 or 183 mph, it makes little difference on this planet.
This car makes more sense than the GTC 4 Lusso, the car that the Purosangue came to replace. That car could also host 4 passengers, but it only had 2 doors and by being a lot lower it didn’t do my back any favors when trying to get to the back seats.
With a front-mid naturally aspirated V12 engine, a gearbox mounted in the back and all those aerodynamics, this is a slightly different kind of “SUV” that nobody else has so far dared to build.
*I can't believe I am going to say this... b-but I like it.* 😳 It looks muscular and elegant at the same time. It is not generic, it deserves to exist... even tho the world does not need another damn SUV.
Great overview, my very first impression is that it’s soo similar to a raised Roma, same rear lights, and the interior is wonderful… very sleek looking which hides the weight extremely well …. Rear seat configuration is statesman like, definitely have the glass roof creating more light and space, for sure THE BEST SUV on the market …… The Roma looks sleek and stylish and so does this !👍

I find sizing to be odd when we're classifying vehicles... I was a curator for a wealthy man who had a collection of antique Rolls Royces and Bentleys... his Rolls Royce convertibles stood as huge as my Lincoln MKX and and same height from ground. His 4 door ones were still considered sedans. Despite their size. You compare his sedan to this Ferrari, and the Rolls will be taller, longer, more storage space and more leg room for the front and back. Yet it's a sedan

I've yet to see an SUV I didn't think was ugly, until now that is ! Never thought I'd have one on my lottery list, but looking at & hearing specs of the Purosangue, it's just made it into my "fantasy garage" - Not to be confused with my "actual garage" of Vauxhall Insignia & Ford Transit...Anyone who can afford a Purosangue isn't going to have it as their only car, but I do think it could do the job, being stylish and practical but capable of sports car like handling & performance

Not sure about the looks personally. Sometimes it looks like an estate ('wagon' as it's sometimes known), sometimes a hatchback (but that's video perspective), sometimes like the Kia EV6 - but one thing it never looks like is an SUV 😂. I'd say more 'Shooting Brake'. Need to see it in the metal to get a sense of size though.

I think that the design is a good surprise. This car is truly beautiful . The V12 is the insurance for power and exclusive car (the weight could be a problem) . I cant just repeat what you said . The car will be a the TOP of the SUV with Aston Martin, lamborghini URUS, Cayenne Turbo GT. I am only afraid by the final price with some options. Thank you MAT for all the informations .

@@purwantiallan5089 You wish. Urus is more reliable, has more leg room, more storage, and more ground clearance, while being capable of making much more power thanks to the TT V8. The Urus also doesn't have those awful touch capacitive buttons that the Roma/Puro have.

Putting a V12 in the Purosangue was a great idea. It sounds like a proper Ferrari. And it looks better than any other crossover by miles. Ferrari took their time to make this work, and they did a good job. But I still prefer coupes.

It kinda reminds me of a Lexus NX. I think out of all of those, I'd take the Bentayga Speed any day. You get the ultra luxury, you get the power and it doesn't look like it's trying to be something it isn't

4:17 For a car with a claimed almost perfect front/rear weight dist, that rear end seems awfully eager to step out on the twisties. Also, I assume all of this footage was provided/released by Ferrari themselves. Why wouldn’t you at least take the time to properly gap all of the panels so that everything lines up evenly on the one car that you are going to film? I mean, they couldn’t be bothered to raise the trunk/boot lid by a few mm so that it lines up a little better with the quarter panels.
