FRAM has been making the OEM filters for Honda since at least 2016. I used to be a stickler for OEM filters. Now, I just go with a reputable aftermarket brand, and make sure that I change my oil ever 6 months. I also use 100% synthetic. Unless something goes catastrophically sideways, I see nothing wrong with the way I am doing it, and I save a tonne of money.

Fram is usually ok in the USA. Wix sucks. K&n is meh. 2 different kinds with those and they're usually identical to Bosch. Bosch generally is meh. They're all usually meh tbh

The filter should go by the OEM number for your car. Knowing if the by pass valve is working properly is a good quastion?? To be on the safe side keep your oil clean by changing it on time.

Want your engine to last? Change the oil at 5000 to 7500 miles. 7500 being for synthetic. Don't EVER follow the 10 000 mile or the 15 000 mile intervals. Use reputable name brand filters and good oil. That's it. Nothing more needed.

Many of the "OEM" filters have been opened and proven to be no better and sometimes not as good as aftermarket filters. Go look at GM's AC/Delco, most are the same as the basic Supertech filter, even toyota, honda, mopar have been shown to not always be any better than aftermarket. So, just b/c you buy it a dealer, doesn't always mean it's better.

I just accomplished the first 10,000 mile service on my RAV4 Toyota made in Canada, and the oil filter I removed was a knock off, installed at the factory. Or at least the indications to identify it as a knock off are present. I purchased a replacement filter from the Toyota dealer and the counter fit markings on the one I purchased from Toyota are not present , indicating the Toyota dealer replacement was real. Just FYI

    • @guidedbygreen1480

Lots of filters are sold on Amazon and eBay now, under brand names that you think are legit. For example, you buy a TOYOTA OEM oil filter on Amazon, or so you thought. Most OEM filters sold on Amazon are counterfeit and best to purchase them from Walmart or your dealership instead.
Basically if you're gonna go OEM, just go to the dealership, otherwise go to a parts store and stay away from the e-commerce methods.

But I don't buy noname filters. And change your oil once a year or every 15000 km without flushing your engine with Diesel. This can kill your engine.

Wrong! Auto manufactures like GM, Ford, Toyota and so on do not make oil filters, their oil filters are made by companies like Wix, Purolator, AC Delco, Donaldson and more. I use Wix oil and air filters in all of my personal vehicles, Wix makes excellent products. This video is misleading at best, instead maybe advise automobile owners to open their owners manual and read.

this video is parcially right...bypass no only opens when pressure rises cause of clogged filtering media by dirt oil...the bypass valve opens ALWAYS when the oil is at normal temp like when its the first start of the day...the oil at that temp cant pass through the paper no matter how thin it be like 5w30 let alone a 20w50...the oil only passes through paper when the engine warms up and the oil gets hot and has less viscosity.. to me the by pass valve is the most important part ...some fram oil filters dont even have a bypass valve thats insane
