    What a gold mine of information. I’m just starting this hellish trip myself. At least my car doesn’t have a turbo. Thank you for the excellent vids.

    Good day eh!! Craig this was a great explanation of how to change the timing belt and all the hoops that need to be jumped through to get the job done. Things like this amaze me. All the little markings and tools that are available for setting this up. A lot of thought and care to details have gone into this and this is on every engine not just a Volvo one. You did a nice job and the video stayed 'kid friendly'!! LOL Way to go. Take 'er easy!!!

      When I have a car apart I say that I'm "saving gas" that day. This car has let me "save gas" several times since I bought it. Very handy to have the specialty tools at a discount price. Maybe you should take your tractor apart some day. That would be fun, eh?

      @@GrampiesWorkshopYou could take the tractor apart and hold up one piece of it at a time during each of your other videos asking viewers to identify the piece and for tips on how to put it back together. It would be Fun!

      Thanks, Mike. These old Volvos are fun to drive and a challenge to work on, but I'm getting better at this one after several repairs so far.

      I used this set once before when I installed the rebuilt head on this engine. Every manufacturer has their specialty tools and it is lucky that Amazon sells the knock-offs at a reasonable price. The right tools make for easier work. Thanks for stopping by, Marc.

      They’re not easy to work with but when it runs it’s a nice car

    Some super smart developed the parts that make this car or any vehicle run. Takes a smart dude like you Craig to make sure parts are setup and replaced properly to make sure it keeps running. Interesting stuff Brother!

    • @EverydayProjects
      @EverydayProjects  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, Doug, you gotta hand it to the engineers who come up with this stuff. Not everything makes complete sense on these cars but Volvos are as tough as tanks. Still one of the safest cars on the road, they say. I have a bit more to do to get this running again, but it's close. All the best!

      Thanks, Noel. Yes, it was sunny for a change. Our weather is slowly changing out of the rainy winter to drier early spring days. This summer will no doubt be another drought so I will enjoy the moderate weather while I can. This tensioner was a worry but now it's replaced and hopefully won't give me any more trouble.

      @@EverydayProjects was the bearing bad in it making it tip to cause the belt to run of to the side.
      And the part the belt runs on, is it flat or does it have a little crown in the middle. 👋👋. Just curious.

    • @EverydayProjects
      @EverydayProjects  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@noelstractors-firewood57The bearing seemed OK. I still haven't determined if the tensioner was at fault or if this is the way they all run. I'm still learning about these engines. They are different from so many others I've worked on. The tensioner is dead-flat, as far as I can tell. I'll be posting a follow up video and show the results/ Thanks for the questions. take care!

      Thanks, Jason. I wasn't sure I'd get this job done this week because I stubbed my toe last weekend on one of the big outdoor racks of flowers in the Walmart parking lot. Then, when I got home, I tripped over a daffodil in the yard while looking at our plum tree in blossom. And, to top it all off, I slipped on the fresh, green grass on the way into the house. A tough weekend for sure!
