Honestly, this is a step in the right direction. I honestly thought gaming keyboard brands were just gonna continue making shitty stuff forever at this point. They obviously have been looking at what the community's been saying with how they've built this keyboard. Definitely not for enthusiasts in the know but if this board can bridge the gap for someone that's keeb-curious this is a good thing.
I too had a razer for my first board. Their costar stabs were the reason I got into custom keyboard hobby. I'm so impressed that they have come this far, the same goes for asus.

I maintain Razer shouldn't bother with enthusiast stuff because their whole branding is around gaming, but seeing them get better is good. I just fear it's too little, too late given how saturated the market is. North-facing PCB is archaic af too. I've always fuckin' loved the styling of Razer boards though with the big-ass Cherry-style lip on the front, I dig it
i feel the opposite, there's no reason that Razer selling GOOD products will be a bad thing, also someone as mainstream as Razer could potentially bring more eyes to the kb community
bringing more eyes towards custom is always good. Their huntsman is already in the analog gaming keyboard market already so moving the blackwidow series into a semi custom series isnt too bad. They did this with their mice as well where Viper and Deathadder are hardcore gaming mice and Basilisk series are more for productivity and casual use.
North-facing is for the LED to shine on the upper side of the keycap, illuminate the letters themselves. WIth south-facing the shine-through LED would be pretty dim and look like ass too so i can understand why Razer still opt for North-facing.
Awesome video. Not sure but would the warranty be voided if the board supports screw-in stabs??? Also, I would think it would be void for changing major things no?
it seems really good and especially being under 200, also no one wants to add all those mods and lube everything just for it to be like $100 and the for the keyboards that are just as good and are way cheaper are literally never in stock
funny that how asus pushed razer to levelup thier game afterall. i wasnt hype on the asus for one reason thier software is even worst than synapsee. i deal with synapsee since ages and yeah its not the best software either but can be okay. i own an iqunix a80 since 3 years and i started to sadly hating the random freeze has to reboot the keyboard on 2.4ghz. and the the firmware update + drivers for the A80 was a pain in the B..... i did order the blackwidow v4 goin to see this for myself. but my hopes aren't that high. i still love my A80 a lot. beside some issues. pricetag on the razer is expensive but with all when into this pre-build i guess that's fair enought . no hates on asus. just not a huge fan of thier software at all. otherwise. i think the new azoth 75 win the design with that oled tho :/ + wireless imo. well nice video Shoobs! +1
I have the blackwidow v3 mini 65% and its fuckin mint and portable and wireless connectivity up the wazoo. I save my Wooting keyboard for the home gaming desktop.
if their first entry to the space was a 65 I'd be with it, but it seems like they saw GMMK Pro success and tried to copy it. it'll sell well though for sure
I really liked this board however ended up returning it as it was wayyyy too expensive. Especially if your like me and were planning to replace the switches you are speding almost if not more than $300. The board brand new came out to be $230 with tax. Alot of better cheaper options out there than this. And lets be real nobody needs 8000 pulling rate, your just asking to have less performance on your computer.
Used linear switches my whole life, and I thought I wouldn’t fuck with it. But naw. The orange feels so nice, and a ever so slight tactile bump. It took me like a few hours to not even notice them anymore. They definitely made a good switch.
I'm a keyboard enthusiast, and I wish that you would have actually discussed what makes it so much worse than other actual customs. It feels and sounds good from your review, which are the things that I think matter most. So I'm assuming maybe the construction of the board? I noticed that its a finger print magnet, so maybe that as well? You mentioned it was stiff but that alone doesn't make it bad seeing how that's a preference for a lot of people.
