  • This is how we cut Repurposed tempered glass 🔥anneal it first. It’s that simple 👍 We acquired over 100 panes of glass 20” wide x 9’-0” long off a demo job 15 years ago for free. We had to cut It just 3 annealing runs did the job. Well worth making our kiln for ($500) annealing allowed us to cut tempered glass to any size. Be sure to cut off or polish off your temper logos or you can always just re-temper after cutting. Thanks for watching

except that when you annealed the glass it's no longer tempered. It's simply annealed glass and can no longer be used in any tempered or safety glass applications.

You don't need to heat the glass, to cut it.

No only if you own a laser

@@BostonMark I have heard of and met people professionally who claim that they have lasers that can cut tempered glass, but to date I have yet to find one that can actually do it despite being involved (again professionally) in glass processing and equipment acquisition including glass laser cutting technology.

@@gregcorwin8316 if it can be done it’s pretty amazing!! We were stuck, had all this nice glass because it was tempered and couldn’t be cut to size. Did not stop us … We made our kiln baked it up about 1k degrees cooled it slowly and evenly and basically erased all the internal kinetic energy trapped in that glass for the last 30 years

@@BostonMark I truly applaud your ingenuity and I think it's great that you reused all that glass rather than trashing it, but my reply was simply intended to comment on the title saying that you cut tempered glass when in fact the glass wasn't tempered when it was cut. Unfortunately some people think that tempered glass that has been heated and slow cooled to remove the temper is still safe to use in safety glazing applications because it had been tempered at one time. Also if the now annealed glass has a tempered logo in the corner, that can potentially cause confusion and worst case harm to someone.
