Really depends my tree is about 80% complete and i can do 3 masks no problem. I plan my mini bosses though. If my sanity is near full ill skip an elite and come back when its less so i get full effect of the plus 200 sanity buff. Basically plan my runs not to waste sanity.
Duuuuuude without any info from videos I realized how silly I was trying to hard to push at low cloak rank / spec progression. I tried very hard, was min maxing, doing everything perfectly, couldn't push my goals at rank 9. At rank 15 and most of the tree completed, 5 chest was EXTREMELY easy. Now at Rank 15 and full spec complete I am itching for next week so I can finally get my 5 mask!! Btw unlocking masks goes like this, first naturally, 2nd and 3rd from SW and 4th and 5th from ORG so if you get your 3 mask and can't find the quest for 4 and 5 you have to wait until the next week. GL :D

I just did my first vision too! I couldn’t figure out how to do them and then I realized that I had to do the Pandaria stuff. I only figured that out by looking online. Nothing in the game implied that I’d ever need to go to Pandaria for bra ever. How did everyone else know? I feel so stupid
Stranger that was the problem! That quest line wasn’t coming up for me. There was no exclamation point above the quest giver to start that line so I had no idea there was one. I had thought the expansion had just ended horribly lol. (I think there’s something wrong with my game though because I run into the problem of not being able to see available quests above the npc or on the mini map)
I only started a few weeks ago, and I'm at four masks. I think the problem is that it needs a lot of grinding to get the cloak and research maxed out, but they added Visions to MOTHER's inventory, so you can do a lot of Horrific Visions in a single week. Before that you could only get two or three Visions from Wrathion, which means months of grinding, but the catchup mechanic makes it doable in under a month.
You collect secret crystals from around the map, you can them turn them in to the etheral guy who will trade you mementos for them. What the comment is saying is that after you trade with hin he'll leave, but you won't get the mementos until you pick them out of a chest that spawns next to where he was standing. He is located in the room next to where Hazel was killing the bear for the stat buff in Stormwind, and in Orgrimmar he is between the huts in between the auction house and the entry that leads into the valley with the guy that casts a shield and that annoying void barrage that picks you up, forgot his name - Extra tip, if you run behind the log and break Line of Sight the void barrage ability won't hit you.
There is a npc you talk to who looks like an Ethereal Trader (the xmog guys). If you collect the hidden orange crystals spread around the horrific vision and turn them in before the final boss, he'll grant you a bigger memento upgrade at the end of the fight.
5:27 Biggest tip I can give here: *_always_* use the Purification Protocol major essence if you have it, regardless of your spec or usual essence load-out. A very large number of the enemies in visions are Aberrations, and the small chance to insta-delete enemies _even applies to bosses._ Purification is especially useful for Rexxar and Thrall, since their boars are Aberrations and thus you can AoE stun them to stop them casting their huge sanity nuke. Reaping Flames is a good alternative if you don't have Rank 2 Purification yet. Madnesses: Bloodthirsty is a non-issue unless you're in a group, and even then the damage is super small. For Promised Power, always try to stand in the zone it spawns if it's safe to do so. You deal 10% less damage outside its zones and 25% _more_ damage while you stand in them. This is especially impactful for Thrall and Alleria. For Scorched Feet, it only flings you _when you next move_ once it triggers. So if you can, stand still as much as possible, or use it to your advantage by holding on to it until you need to move a good distance since it will fling you in the direction you next move. I've used it many times to jump over Burned Bridge patches I left from gathering odd crystals in corners, or to quickly get out of the way of or quickly cross over a sanity-draining ground AoE like the tentacle slams in SW Trade District or the fire patches in the Dwarf District. For Entomophobia, it won't stack out-of-combat, so jump a few times when you finish a pack and you'll be safe for a bit. Melee classes and Hunters have it easiest, since they can safely just spam jump constantly without interrupting their rotations in combat. Casters should jump whenever you're casting Instant spells and/or during GCDs. For Leaden Foot, a cheeky little nod to classes or specs with "Cannot be reduced below X% movement speed" abilities. I main a DK, thus I can never be reduced below 70%, thus I can completely ignore Leaden Foot at all times. One last tiny tip: In Org visions, when you take the wind totems to jump back to the start, you're immune to CC during the jump. Use the travel time to safely click off any potion buffs close to expiring.
6:43 um.... you can kick the bombs out of the way?! This has never been an issue for me, but wow that’ll make final boss in SW much easier with melee classes.

I would like to recomemnd the War-Scroll consumables. They are lesser forms of Battle Shout, Arcane Intellect and Power Word: Stamina and can be very helpful for classes that dont have access to those abillities.

I recommend getting at least one full clear done every week, or two every two weeks. More resistance = more stat boost corruption you can wear, which is pretty significant in raiding.
I run 5 masks solo every week and I still learned from this great video. that weakaura is way better than the one i've been using for potion colors and i didn't know that the buff mobs only spawn in one or the other area, not both. Kicking the bombs away on Alleria is also something i didn't know I could do and that is huge. She is definitely the hardest encounter in any vision. I'm surprised you didn't mention the +100 sanity food (K'Bab) that could make a huge difference for people trying to progress through visions.

It seems that you actually sit down and think about what would actually be useful for people to learn which is not easily available (in a watchable format lets be real some people ramble way too much.). youve been a godsend to my noob self doing mythic dungeons and lvling up my char :D thank you!
One thing that can save you *a lot* of time over the course of a run is to not pick up the buff potions, only get the sanity ones. The marginal benefits they give you don't make up for the amount of time you spend going out of your way to click and sit there drinking them- plus you have to manage the buff timer to not get trolled by it falling off at a bad moment. The sanity potion is always worth it though, make sure to always be watching for them. Also, the Ghastly Goulash food is incredibly overpowered, you can't die if you're using it and doing reasonable pulls. You can basically forget about incoming damage and just focus on being more efficient.
A helpful note to add, if you are running these with another person (I run them with a tank friend) using a two-seater mount can be helpful because you don't spawn two separate paths of void zones behind you. I can solo clear five masks but it's easier and fun to run with a tank if you're a dps. In the case of catastrophy you can rez them for free or they can rez you if you have the research done, if not you still can at the cost of half your sanity. If you're not entirely secure doing five masks having a second person can make it much easier. And don't worry, you'll get there. These are great tips and suggestions, I'm subscribing and I'll share this video with anyone who is still struggling. It will make farming mementos easier, thank you, Hazel. I didn't know you could kick the bombs either!
I went in thinking that there wasn't anything new left for me to learn. Got an amazing addon, toys, essence choice, and clicking the dynamites. Loved it.
I learned that while I was playing a ranged character and the npc besides me kicked them away. I tried that out on a melee since I couldn't believe it would work, I was baffled how easy that makes the encounter.
I cant even get passed rank 8 cloak. I'm too nervous to go further. Any tips? I'm also not far into my tree because I'm not sure on how to get that many momentous. Trying to learn it but it feels hard to do. I'm around 455 ilevel since I only do M+ cause I dont have a guild.
On rexxar's area, when you first go in and kill the bear stick to the wall on the right and you can completely skip the pack of mobs before the bridge. You can then kill the the little explode bugs, cross the river then kill another pack of bugs then onto the mini boss. This way you skip 2 of the heftier packs meaning you save yourself a lot of sanity and a possible chance of dying.
@@Hughes-Family Considering how annoying/deadly some of the Rexxar trash is and how extra bugs seem to appear from no where, skipping it is very worth the mild loss of mementos if you're not comfortable with swarms and cc.
@@darwinxavier3516 They don't come from no where. They come from the corpses on the ground. The trash is also not at all a threat unless you are rushing. Rexxar himself can be, but only if you aren't timing your gift right. This is from the perspective of a DH mind you.
Great guide, I can add one tip: The Gift of the Titans research gives you a very powerful and reliable proc. It makes you immune to sanity loss for 20 seconds (while increasing your haste), after which it goes on cooldown for 60 seconds. Killing mobs has a big chance to trigger it after that (that includes CRITTERS!). You can track it with that weakaura you linked. Try to time your minibosses so that the last pack before them will proc Gift of the Titans, and you can go ham with impunity. In Stormwind I often use rats to trigger it before the Forgemaster and other minibosses.
Thank you for the good tips! I hate visions sooo much. When I first started horrific visions, they quickly became the most frustrating WoW experience I'd had by far. It's extremely punishing for a mistake and especially when you're a noob like me it feels just so awful to do visions. Especially when you don't know what you're doing at all. I like experiencing new content blind so I avoid guides for new content for a while. I didn't realize how much time you waste after when you do all the world quest stuff to start your vision and just have it all taken away because you accidentally pulled a mob while channeling your sanity orb, or you cat jumps on your keyboard, etc. It wouldn't feel nearly as terrible if the main sources for the currency weren't time locked the way they are. I haven't even gotten my cloak to rank 9 yet. I just don't feel compelled to participate in this system because it doesn't value my time.
I feel you. I like that they provide a challenge and that you can fail them, learn from it, and come back at it fresh, but currency wise, it's ridiculously punishing. The cloak is necessary for progression so it can legitimately stop you from progressing if you mess up. Compare this to the mage tower, which was an optional challenge run, and only required 100 of a pretty common currency per try. Also I don't want to farm a shitty currency just to have an attempt at maybe upgrading my cloak. Outside of the weekly/semi-weekly invasion objectives, the dailies are another source, and they only give about 325 out of the required 10,000 per run, which is something like 31 dailies per run. It's a lot of time grinding that could easily equate to nothing.
Thank you! I wish I'd figured this all out when it started. Biggest lesson I learned was to go as fast as possible, spec for survival, and instead of doing one vision at a time - save up a bunch of vials, sit down on a lag-free time on your best computer, and just jam out levels on the cloak.
Glad I am not the only one who took a while to find out you can mount in visions. Even after watching numerous guides and people mounting in those guides, I still never realised it lol
I've done full clears on my prot paladin and havoc DH (not with masks, omg)... I knew like, not a lot of this. But it's so helpful! Thank you, Hazel! The only struggle I still have is on my MW monk, but he's not high priority, really.
I have been doing these for months and trying sooo hard to complete a solo five mask on my ret pally. Could never kill alleria at 5 Mask. The healer/tank spec thing is so great!! I literally switched specs, didn't switch any gear went full damage essences and just destroyed alleria. Thank you so much!!
Never knew you could click on those bombs to move them away lol. As a rogue, Alleria fights were always kinda shitty, as all my attacks become out of range, while Alleria uses her bow and just stand there out of my range lol.
i literally just got my 5mask full clear of stormwind today and NOW im learning this! I just had to do a whole lot of LOSing her behind the pillars tog et her to move out of the fire
I learned this the hard way. If she stands in fire or other creep, just line of sight her (behind a cathedral pillar) and she should move out of the fire.
Couple more tips: If you can, stand right next to the tentacle mobs. They won't burrow away from you and you won't have to keep retargetting them. The first elite boss in the Drag in Orgrimmar, the faceless boss - stand right underneath him to avoid the sanity draining swirls and the pushback beams.

If you have Gift of the Titans, you should be able to do a 3 mask clear (Burned Bridge, Dark Imagination, Pained) with little added difficulty (Long Night adds a bit more difficulty, Daredevil is by FAR the most unforgiving). If you can get a clean 3 mask in, you can add in Long Night at almost no added risk (even on my undergeared pally, I was coming out of each section at around 400 sanity). Adding Daredevil for the full 5 mask run is a pretty significant challenge, but you don't need to go ham an pull everything at once. Just learn what each elite/boss mob does and how to avoid it (except Rexxar's boars...just pray for a Gift proc while you're killing them). If you're trying to rank up your cloak, don't worry about killing Thrall/Alleria; just go for the upgrade items. If you have a rank 15 cloak and Gift of the Titans, every section is pretty close to sanity-neutral, so there's plenty of room for error. For Rexxar, Shaw, Thrall, and Alleria, you can drop your sanity orb right before you pull for 10-15 seconds of basically risk-free combat). If you're using Herolustwarp/Drums, do (for Org) Drag -> Honor (lust on Rexxar) -> Wisdom -> Spirits -> Strength (lust on Thrall) and (for SW) Dwarf -> Old Town (lust on Shaw) -> Trade -> Mage -> Cathedral (lust on Alleria). Old Town and the Mage District can be brutal if you get Split Personality (because you can't really move out of it unless you get lucky), especially paired with Haunting Shadows (because you'll drop the fear circle in the middle of the stun ring and you can't do much about it), but those are the best madness effects for Orgrimmar (because those areas are really wide open so you can easily get out).

Craggle wobbletop is even easier if you pull the mobs away from him when distracted or CC'd. My monk can use the 1 min stun.. druids can probably root him.. etc. The shieldbots health drops by a large % once 30+ yards away.

As a druid I ran guardian and resto in my visions. Baked voidfin and feral affintity gave me a constant 35% movement increase for the entire run. Really helped. I found it in a bear video, sorry I don't remember who it was.
There are two crystals in each zone, 10 totally. The more you collect the more corrupted mementos you can get. You have to turn them to the guy at the end of your run just before you engage the last boss.
I made critical mistakes in prioritization in my titanic research tree in the beginning. I initially wanted to get both the solo and group bonuses branches, but that was the worst idea. Each subsequent upgrade research cost goes up no matter where you are in the tree, so if you focus on filling everything out as you go, it can make the ultra important upgrade, Elite Extermination, very expensive very quickly, which only gets worse when going for Gift of the Titans. This is the problem I'm encountering on my main, but I made sure not to make the same mistakes on most of my alts. I made sure to only get the bare minimum to advance to the next upgrade; only choose one branch and only focus on getting the 3/3 to move on. Worry about upgrading the other branches/rest of chosen branch AFTER you get Gift of the Titans. At that point you can comfortably go through a vision to farm corrupted mementos without worrying too much about sanity loss. Most of my vision runs these days (no masks, I'm not brave enough yet), I can go through most of, if not the entire, vision without using an orb or the sanity food by just using the sanity potions and the Elite Extermination upgrade.
I will add a couple of nuances to your video. Focusing iris is excellent as your main until you go above 3 masks. Below that it annihilates entire packs. So if you're early on you can pull three packs and mow them down.
Purification Protocol. Does decent Aoe damage, stuns any aberrations, and has a chance to annihilate any enemy. Really great to use for big pulls and can save you on boss+adds.

Lot of good advice here. Thanks to you I'm up to four masks in Stormwind and three in Orgrimmar; I'm sure I'll make four once Orgrimmar comes up this week. I tried five masks in Stormwind but it seems to jump in difficulty a lot when I put on the fifth, and not from the extra effect, but from the adds having more health and damage. A few more weeks and some more of that 460/465 gear should get me over the hump.
The first sign of moving forwards is the 200 sanity buff from elites, it means you can stay in longer and should be able to do 2 corrupted zones in one run without falling over. The Gift at the top tier is where you can now aim for the full five with some ease and then its a matter of choosing the last 7 levels which make unmasked 5 chests a doddle and you get your first mask on your first full 5 run. When you have all tiers filled, using a mask is not a problem as your sanity loss is so negligible at lvl 15 cloak. Then its the grinds for the backpack, sockets and mount which is constrained by what you get from nzoth zones of Uldum and Vale.
If you're struggling asa DPS, purification protocol major has a stun for abberations, which they have quite a few of, most of the scary mobs that are big, are abberrations. It can also just instantly kill the little enemies around them.
One thing to add. ALWAYS fight a boss or a miniboss when Gift of the Titans is off CD. it is totally worth the one minute wait (and u get 200 sanity back anyway after killing bosses) and usually there is plenty of trash to clear (which add small amounts of mementos to the finally tally), chests to open, and crystals to pick up to fill up the time. Gift basically negates all Sanity loss so you can focus on DPS'ing the boss. Overarching all of this players need to remember the whole design concept behind Visions. In Legion, the Mage Tower was designed to test a player's understanding of their class. Visions (going with the whole N'Zoth driving people nuts theme) is designed to literally annoy you into making and then chaining bad decisions: the tight camera angles (Thrall and Rexxar rooms), the similar dmg patches that spawn in similar colored rooms/environments where you can't see them all that well, that annoying laugh when you step into a puddle (or get hit by Touch of the Abyss) and lose sanity-tricking you to move even though you only lost 12 sanity (and with Leaden Foot active more disaster ensues as you pop CDs that you would have used on bosses), the super annoying burrowing tentacles, the mobs with uneven HP pools etc...So to back up Hazel's point: slowing down and patience is the key to success. It's counter-intuitive as the whole design is based on Sanity loss and that Sanity Bars looms large but, in reality, especially as your Cloak rank increases and timed sanity loss becomes mostly irrelevant, the slower you go the easier it is.
Another thing, that circle that spawns on the ground add 25% of damage, and if you don't stand in it, gives you a debuff of 10% damage reduction. Ty for the tips!
I was wondering why you'd had issues running visions solo for so long, but then I noticed you've been doing that on a Shadow Priest of all things, which explains A LOT. They don't have the best kit for soloing this stuff. Even my CE spriest friend hates doing visions solo because of just how unsuited the spec is for them!
I just got the backpack tonight, did most of it with surv hunter, a little with BM........as a surv hunter it was annoying when those bombs covered alleria, then I watched this. I had no freaking idea you could kick those away, holy crap my jaw dropped as soon as I saw you kick them away hahahaha.
About the Consumables you should have mentioned the K`Bap. It´s a 3 min cd Food, which restores 100 Sanity after eating 10 seconds. It basically can give you up to 500-1000 sanity extra, which can be nice in a 5 Mask run. Also notable: It does not destroy your food Buff, which you have from another Food. Also notable: it gives still the CD and no Sanity if you get interrupted or attacked in those 10 seconds. So it should be used wisely
Another very useful tip is to force gift of the titans on elites, it might safe you 30-200 sanity, depending on your dodge skills or movement abilities. If your gift is ready, you can just kill a little critter to proc it :)
i didn't know anything about visions, but i knew they were fun. when i finally got to them a couple weeks ago i just ran straight to the boss because that's really all i had time to do
I had a hard time to begin with since I was just learning, but quickly I realized just how easy of a time Outlaw(my spec) has compared to other melee and especially casters. I was able to get the Mad World achievement only around 460 ilvl, the only actual hard part being 5 mask Alleria(whom procced my cheat death on my first 5 mask run and just barely didn't deplete my sanity). Mathias must be an absolute pain on casters. If I can offer 1 tip for everyone, use the food called Ghastly Goulash. The healing it offers is insane, especially for specs like Outlaw with a lot of tools but low on-demand healing. Also, if you're struggling, try to get the Breath of the Dying essence to rank 3. It helps a lot with trash and makes Rexxar much easier, since you can chain between the boars.
For 5 mask runs, one thing that got me through was completely ignoring chests and crystals for extra Mementos. If you can comfortably get those then by all means do so, but for me every second focused on the objectives counted.
Oh same. They're extremely, very very very difficult first try compared to full tree and cloak at 12+. The difference is astronomical. My first few runs I literally just go straight to boss and kill it.
I'm running lots of alts in horrific visions. I do 4 mask runs only. In addition to your excellent tips... if you run a 4 mask run and collect ALL the Odd Crystals (2 per zone, 10 total) the crystal trader will give you 425 Mentos. That amount of mentos balances out the total mentos per run if you do a 4 vs a 5 mask run. Not to mention... you dont run against time and not feel rushed. True, the runs take a bit longer :) I dont feel a 470 vs a 465 ilvl item to be a big deal. I use a weakaura that shows me the collected odd crystals, so i dont miss any :D

Just be sure to completely ignore the right side of tier 2 if you're primarily solo until you get the final talent.

He is located in the room next to where Hazel was killing the bear for the stat buff in Stormwind, and in Orgrimmar he is between the huts in between the auction house and the entry that leads into the valley with the guy that casts a shield and that annoying void barrage that picks you up, forgot his name - Extra tip, if you run behind the log and break Line of Sight the void barrage ability won't hit you.
There is a npc you talk to who looks like an Ethereal Trader (the xmog guys). If you collect the hidden orange crystals spread around the horrific vision and turn them in before the final boss, he'll grant you a bigger memento upgrade at the end of the fight.
5:27 Biggest tip I can give here: *_always_* use the Purification Protocol major essence if you have it, regardless of your spec or usual essence load-out. A very large number of the enemies in visions are Aberrations, and the small chance to insta-delete enemies _even applies to bosses._ Purification is especially useful for Rexxar and Thrall, since their boars are Aberrations and thus you can AoE stun them to stop them casting their huge sanity nuke. Reaping Flames is a good alternative if you don't have Rank 2 Purification yet.
Madnesses: Bloodthirsty is a non-issue unless you're in a group, and even then the damage is super small.
For Promised Power, always try to stand in the zone it spawns if it's safe to do so. You deal 10% less damage outside its zones and 25% _more_ damage while you stand in them. This is especially impactful for Thrall and Alleria.
For Scorched Feet, it only flings you _when you next move_ once it triggers. So if you can, stand still as much as possible, or use it to your advantage by holding on to it until you need to move a good distance since it will fling you in the direction you next move. I've used it many times to jump over Burned Bridge patches I left from gathering odd crystals in corners, or to quickly get out of the way of or quickly cross over a sanity-draining ground AoE like the tentacle slams in SW Trade District or the fire patches in the Dwarf District.
For Entomophobia, it won't stack out-of-combat, so jump a few times when you finish a pack and you'll be safe for a bit. Melee classes and Hunters have it easiest, since they can safely just spam jump constantly without interrupting their rotations in combat. Casters should jump whenever you're casting Instant spells and/or during GCDs.
For Leaden Foot, a cheeky little nod to classes or specs with "Cannot be reduced below X% movement speed" abilities. I main a DK, thus I can never be reduced below 70%, thus I can completely ignore Leaden Foot at all times.
One last tiny tip: In Org visions, when you take the wind totems to jump back to the start, you're immune to CC during the jump. Use the travel time to safely click off any potion buffs close to expiring.
I use laser for major and I usually kill the boars and do huge DMG to rexar by the end of its cast. I do use PP minor rank 3 though

I would like to recomemnd the War-Scroll consumables. They are lesser forms of Battle Shout, Arcane Intellect and Power Word: Stamina and can be very helpful for classes that dont have access to those abillities.

I recommend getting at least one full clear done every week, or two every two weeks. More resistance = more stat boost corruption you can wear, which is pretty significant in raiding.
I run 5 masks solo every week and I still learned from this great video. that weakaura is way better than the one i've been using for potion colors and i didn't know that the buff mobs only spawn in one or the other area, not both. Kicking the bombs away on Alleria is also something i didn't know I could do and that is huge. She is definitely the hardest encounter in any vision. I'm surprised you didn't mention the +100 sanity food (K'Bab) that could make a huge difference for people trying to progress through visions.

It seems that you actually sit down and think about what would actually be useful for people to learn which is not easily available (in a watchable format lets be real some people ramble way too much.). youve been a godsend to my noob self doing mythic dungeons and lvling up my char :D thank you!
One thing that can save you *a lot* of time over the course of a run is to not pick up the buff potions, only get the sanity ones. The marginal benefits they give you don't make up for the amount of time you spend going out of your way to click and sit there drinking them- plus you have to manage the buff timer to not get trolled by it falling off at a bad moment. The sanity potion is always worth it though, make sure to always be watching for them.
Also, the Ghastly Goulash food is incredibly overpowered, you can't die if you're using it and doing reasonable pulls. You can basically forget about incoming damage and just focus on being more efficient.
take your time is the best advice of all time. also, the buff bosses actually do quite a bit to help. but mostly taking my time. thank you so much!!

A helpful note to add, if you are running these with another person (I run them with a tank friend) using a two-seater mount can be helpful because you don't spawn two separate paths of void zones behind you. I can solo clear five masks but it's easier and fun to run with a tank if you're a dps. In the case of catastrophy you can rez them for free or they can rez you if you have the research done, if not you still can at the cost of half your sanity. If you're not entirely secure doing five masks having a second person can make it much easier. And don't worry, you'll get there.
These are great tips and suggestions, I'm subscribing and I'll share this video with anyone who is still struggling. It will make farming mementos easier, thank you, Hazel. I didn't know you could kick the bombs either!
I went in thinking that there wasn't anything new left for me to learn. Got an amazing addon, toys, essence choice, and clicking the dynamites. Loved it.
The biggest thing I learned in this video wasn't even one of the tips, I had no idea you could kick those bombs in SW, that changes so much for me.
I learned that while I was playing a ranged character and the npc besides me kicked them away. I tried that out on a melee since I couldn't believe it would work, I was baffled how easy that makes the encounter.
I realy like that the game doesnt tell you everything right away and the players have to figure it out by themself. A nice change of pace.
I understand that sentiment, and am also amused that that's partly what's so frustrating to people who are trying Classic for the first time.

On rexxar's area, when you first go in and kill the bear stick to the wall on the right and you can completely skip the pack of mobs before the bridge. You can then kill the the little explode bugs, cross the river then kill another pack of bugs then onto the mini boss. This way you skip 2 of the heftier packs meaning you save yourself a lot of sanity and a possible chance of dying.
Theres another skip in that area that let's you skip everything except misha and the pack in front of rexxar, I have a video on it on my channel!

@@darwinxavier3516 They don't come from no where. They come from the corpses on the ground. The trash is also not at all a threat unless you are rushing. Rexxar himself can be, but only if you aren't timing your gift right. This is from the perspective of a DH mind you.

Great guide, I can add one tip: The Gift of the Titans research gives you a very powerful and reliable proc. It makes you immune to sanity loss for 20 seconds (while increasing your haste), after which it goes on cooldown for 60 seconds. Killing mobs has a big chance to trigger it after that (that includes CRITTERS!). You can track it with that weakaura you linked. Try to time your minibosses so that the last pack before them will proc Gift of the Titans, and you can go ham with impunity. In Stormwind I often use rats to trigger it before the Forgemaster and other minibosses.

When I first started horrific visions, they quickly became the most frustrating WoW experience I'd had by far. It's extremely punishing for a mistake and especially when you're a noob like me it feels just so awful to do visions. Especially when you don't know what you're doing at all. I like experiencing new content blind so I avoid guides for new content for a while. I didn't realize how much time you waste after when you do all the world quest stuff to start your vision and just have it all taken away because you accidentally pulled a mob while channeling your sanity orb, or you cat jumps on your keyboard, etc. It wouldn't feel nearly as terrible if the main sources for the currency weren't time locked the way they are.
I haven't even gotten my cloak to rank 9 yet. I just don't feel compelled to participate in this system because it doesn't value my time.
I feel you. I like that they provide a challenge and that you can fail them, learn from it, and come back at it fresh, but currency wise, it's ridiculously punishing. The cloak is necessary for progression so it can legitimately stop you from progressing if you mess up. Compare this to the mage tower, which was an optional challenge run, and only required 100 of a pretty common currency per try.
Also I don't want to farm a shitty currency just to have an attempt at maybe upgrading my cloak. Outside of the weekly/semi-weekly invasion objectives, the dailies are another source, and they only give about 325 out of the required 10,000 per run, which is something like 31 dailies per run. It's a lot of time grinding that could easily equate to nothing.

Thank you! I wish I'd figured this all out when it started. Biggest lesson I learned was to go as fast as possible, spec for survival, and instead of doing one vision at a time - save up a bunch of vials, sit down on a lag-free time on your best computer, and just jam out levels on the cloak.

I have been doing these for months and trying sooo hard to complete a solo five mask on my ret pally. Could never kill alleria at 5 Mask. The healer/tank spec thing is so great!! I literally switched specs, didn't switch any gear went full damage essences and just destroyed alleria. Thank you so much!!
Never knew you could click on those bombs to move them away lol.
As a rogue, Alleria fights were always kinda shitty, as all my attacks become out of range, while Alleria uses her bow and just stand there out of my range lol.
i literally just got my 5mask full clear of stormwind today and NOW im learning this! I just had to do a whole lot of LOSing her behind the pillars tog et her to move out of the fire
I learned this the hard way. If she stands in fire or other creep, just line of sight her (behind a cathedral pillar) and she should move out of the fire.
Couple more tips:
If you can, stand right next to the tentacle mobs. They won't burrow away from you and you won't have to keep retargetting them.
The first elite boss in the Drag in Orgrimmar, the faceless boss - stand right underneath him to avoid the sanity draining swirls and the pushback beams.

Done dozens of 5 mask runs across many alts, and I learned a thing or two today, thanks !
If you have Gift of the Titans, you should be able to do a 3 mask clear (Burned Bridge, Dark Imagination, Pained) with little added difficulty (Long Night adds a bit more difficulty, Daredevil is by FAR the most unforgiving). If you can get a clean 3 mask in, you can add in Long Night at almost no added risk (even on my undergeared pally, I was coming out of each section at around 400 sanity). Adding Daredevil for the full 5 mask run is a pretty significant challenge, but you don't need to go ham an pull everything at once. Just learn what each elite/boss mob does and how to avoid it (except Rexxar's boars...just pray for a Gift proc while you're killing them).
If you're trying to rank up your cloak, don't worry about killing Thrall/Alleria; just go for the upgrade items. If you have a rank 15 cloak and Gift of the Titans, every section is pretty close to sanity-neutral, so there's plenty of room for error. For Rexxar, Shaw, Thrall, and Alleria, you can drop your sanity orb right before you pull for 10-15 seconds of basically risk-free combat). If you're using Herolustwarp/Drums, do (for Org) Drag -> Honor (lust on Rexxar) -> Wisdom -> Spirits -> Strength (lust on Thrall) and (for SW) Dwarf -> Old Town (lust on Shaw) -> Trade -> Mage -> Cathedral (lust on Alleria). Old Town and the Mage District can be brutal if you get Split Personality (because you can't really move out of it unless you get lucky), especially paired with Haunting Shadows (because you'll drop the fear circle in the middle of the stun ring and you can't do much about it), but those are the best madness effects for Orgrimmar (because those areas are really wide open so you can easily get out).

I use reaping flames in general because it gives a solid instant cast with a low cooldown.
Even tho I do a 5 mask once a week and can do SW, it’s always such a pain. Irritates the fuck out of me that after a 5 mask SW run I usually take a break from the game for a couple hours lol
The most important thing i learned was:
You CAN kick the bombs away!!! Thats gonna make such an easy fight on windrunner.
Craggle wobbletop is even easier if you pull the mobs away from him when distracted or CC'd. My monk can use the 1 min stun.. druids can probably root him.. etc. The shieldbots health drops by a large % once 30+ yards away.

Your guides are the best on TH-cam for all content
As a druid I ran guardian and resto in my visions. Baked voidfin and feral affintity gave me a constant 35% movement increase for the entire run. Really helped. I found it in a bear video, sorry I don't remember who it was.
There are two crystals in each zone, 10 totally. The more you collect the more corrupted mementos you can get. You have to turn them to the guy at the end of your run just before you engage the last boss.
I made critical mistakes in prioritization in my titanic research tree in the beginning. I initially wanted to get both the solo and group bonuses branches, but that was the worst idea. Each subsequent upgrade research cost goes up no matter where you are in the tree, so if you focus on filling everything out as you go, it can make the ultra important upgrade, Elite Extermination, very expensive very quickly, which only gets worse when going for Gift of the Titans. This is the problem I'm encountering on my main, but I made sure not to make the same mistakes on most of my alts. I made sure to only get the bare minimum to advance to the next upgrade; only choose one branch and only focus on getting the 3/3 to move on. Worry about upgrading the other branches/rest of chosen branch AFTER you get Gift of the Titans. At that point you can comfortably go through a vision to farm corrupted mementos without worrying too much about sanity loss. Most of my vision runs these days (no masks, I'm not brave enough yet), I can go through most of, if not the entire, vision without using an orb or the sanity food by just using the sanity potions and the Elite Extermination upgrade.
I will add a couple of nuances to your video. Focusing iris is excellent as your main until you go above 3 masks. Below that it annihilates entire packs. So if you're early on you can pull three packs and mow them down.

Purification Protocol. Does decent Aoe damage, stuns any aberrations, and has a chance to annihilate any enemy. Really great to use for big pulls and can save you on boss+adds.

Lot of good advice here. Thanks to you I'm up to four masks in Stormwind and three in Orgrimmar; I'm sure I'll make four once Orgrimmar comes up this week. I tried five masks in Stormwind but it seems to jump in difficulty a lot when I put on the fifth, and not from the extra effect, but from the adds having more health and damage. A few more weeks and some more of that 460/465 gear should get me over the hump.
I didnt do Visions for the longest time. Now I really enjoy them and wish I had started sooner. SOLO PLAY...NEED MORE IN GAME.

Hazel...I gave up on visions until I found this...you were NOT too late for me
The first sign of moving forwards is the 200 sanity buff from elites, it means you can stay in longer and should be able to do 2 corrupted zones in one run without falling over. The Gift at the top tier is where you can now aim for the full five with some ease and then its a matter of choosing the last 7 levels which make unmasked 5 chests a doddle and you get your first mask on your first full 5 run. When you have all tiers filled, using a mask is not a problem as your sanity loss is so negligible at lvl 15 cloak. Then its the grinds for the backpack, sockets and mount which is constrained by what you get from nzoth zones of Uldum and Vale.
Also, Idk if you know this, or not, but you can kick the bombs away that Alleria drops, and the bombs Therum drops in the Dwarven district.
one thing you didn't mention but i learned from your video...the eyes don't attack you if you're not looking at them...i had no idea!

Insulting K'thir Dominators' and SI:7 Infiltrators' parents is what got me through my 5 mask runs, really works.
If you're struggling asa DPS, purification protocol major has a stun for abberations, which they have quite a few of, most of the scary mobs that are big, are abberrations. It can also just instantly kill the little enemies around them.

One thing to add. ALWAYS fight a boss or a miniboss when Gift of the Titans is off CD. it is totally worth the one minute wait (and u get 200 sanity back anyway after killing bosses) and usually there is plenty of trash to clear (which add small amounts of mementos to the finally tally), chests to open, and crystals to pick up to fill up the time. Gift basically negates all Sanity loss so you can focus on DPS'ing the boss.
Overarching all of this players need to remember the whole design concept behind Visions. In Legion, the Mage Tower was designed to test a player's understanding of their class. Visions (going with the whole N'Zoth driving people nuts theme) is designed to literally annoy you into making and then chaining bad decisions: the tight camera angles (Thrall and Rexxar rooms), the similar dmg patches that spawn in similar colored rooms/environments where you can't see them all that well, that annoying laugh when you step into a puddle (or get hit by Touch of the Abyss) and lose sanity-tricking you to move even though you only lost 12 sanity (and with Leaden Foot active more disaster ensues as you pop CDs that you would have used on bosses), the super annoying burrowing tentacles, the mobs with uneven HP pools etc...So to back up Hazel's point: slowing down and patience is the key to success. It's counter-intuitive as the whole design is based on Sanity loss and that Sanity Bars looms large but, in reality, especially as your Cloak rank increases and timed sanity loss becomes mostly irrelevant, the slower you go the easier it is.
Another thing, that circle that spawns on the ground add 25% of damage, and if you don't stand in it, gives you a debuff of 10% damage reduction.

I was wondering why you'd had issues running visions solo for so long, but then I noticed you've been doing that on a Shadow Priest of all things, which explains A LOT. They don't have the best kit for soloing this stuff. Even my CE spriest friend hates doing visions solo because of just how unsuited the spec is for them!

About the Consumables you should have mentioned the K`Bap.
It´s a 3 min cd Food, which restores 100 Sanity after eating 10 seconds. It basically can give you up to 500-1000 sanity extra, which can be nice in a 5 Mask run. Also notable: It does not destroy your food Buff, which you have from another Food.
Also notable: it gives still the CD and no Sanity if you get interrupted or attacked in those 10 seconds. So it should be used wisely

Another very useful tip is to force gift of the titans on elites, it might safe you 30-200 sanity, depending on your dodge skills or movement abilities. If your gift is ready, you can just kill a little critter to proc it :)
i didn't know anything about visions, but i knew they were fun. when i finally got to them a couple weeks ago i just ran straight to the boss because that's really all i had time to do
I had a hard time to begin with since I was just learning, but quickly I realized just how easy of a time Outlaw(my spec) has compared to other melee and especially casters. I was able to get the Mad World achievement only around 460 ilvl, the only actual hard part being 5 mask Alleria(whom procced my cheat death on my first 5 mask run and just barely didn't deplete my sanity). Mathias must be an absolute pain on casters.
If I can offer 1 tip for everyone, use the food called Ghastly Goulash. The healing it offers is insane, especially for specs like Outlaw with a lot of tools but low on-demand healing. Also, if you're struggling, try to get the Breath of the Dying essence to rank 3. It helps a lot with trash and makes Rexxar much easier, since you can chain between the boars.
For 5 mask runs, one thing that got me through was completely ignoring chests and crystals for extra Mementos. If you can comfortably get those then by all means do so, but for me every second focused on the objectives counted.

Oh same. They're extremely, very very very difficult first try compared to full tree and cloak at 12+. The difference is astronomical. My first few runs I literally just go straight to boss and kill it.
I'm running lots of alts in horrific visions. I do 4 mask runs only. In addition to your excellent tips... if you run a 4 mask run and collect ALL the Odd Crystals (2 per zone, 10 total) the crystal trader will give you 425 Mentos. That amount of mentos balances out the total mentos per run if you do a 4 vs a 5 mask run. Not to mention... you dont run against time and not feel rushed. True, the runs take a bit longer :) I dont feel a 470 vs a 465 ilvl item to be a big deal. I use a weakaura that shows me the collected odd crystals, so i dont miss any :D
ya 7 alts destroyed my wrists had to take 2 weeks off the pain :|
