  • Week 5 of the 1990 season. Chicago beats Green Bay for the 2nd time, 27-13 to complete the sweep for 1990. Neal Anderson was solid rushing the ball and Kevin Butler made some clutch FGs on a cold, rainy day in Soldier Field.

    Absolutely loved Neal Anderson. Payton was the best ever, but to come in after the greatest RB ever, he did a damn good job. I think many Bears fans would feel the same. He was a tough gamer.

    I remember watching the Chicago Bears, (AKA 'Da Bears') ever since I was a kid back in the 1960's. Dear God those were some lean years 😲 ... fast forward to the BIG 80'S and the dual geniuses of the 'Iron' Mike Ditka & Buddy Ryan era and BOOM! We poor Bears fan's hadn't seen an NFL World Championship title since... I sure do miss those glory days when Ditka, Ryan, and 'The Shuffling Crew' made NFL history not only with their amazing ability on both sides of the ball, but also they way they brought FUN to the game! No other team, before or since, has had the same effect on American fans than the legendary '85 Bears'! Here are a few facts they will put a smile on my fellow Bears fans faces... The Bears have won NINE NFL Championships, including one Super Bowl, and hold the NFL record for the most enshrinees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the most retired jersey numbers. The Bears have also recorded more victories than any other NFL franchise.
    One last thing: Back in 1981, Buddy Ryan - (who passed away at the age of 82 in 2016) - Defensive Coordinator for the Chicago Bears. That year owner George Halas fired head coach Neill Armstrong, and many assumed that Ryan would follow him on the way out.
    The Bears’ defensive players stood up for Ryan, though, writing a letter to Halas asking Ryan to stay on or be considered for the head coaching job. Halas listened, and while he brought in Mike Ditka to be the head coach, he kept Ryan in his position as defensive coordinator. Four years later, the 1985 Bears would put together one of the greatest seasons ever, led by the defense Ryan designed. Last year, Ryan wrote a letter to those players who stood up for him 14 years earlier: It reads:
    To my guys,
    In 1981, many of you signed a letter to George Halas that saved my job. Now I’m writing a letter to all of you to say thanks. I wish I could be there to say it in person, but this will have to do.
    Thank you to the Super Bowl champion 1985 Chicago Bears, the greatest team in NFL history. You gave me the best memories of my coaching life.
    I’ll love every one of you until the day I die. I told you this a long time ago, and it’s still true.
    You guys will always be my heroes.
    - Coach Buddy Ryan

    Man! My name is Ross. Val is my lady. Anyway. I've commented on your videos in the past. You have the best vids! From 1979-'90 I can watch the Bears games over and over! A few of my favorites are:
    1) *Bears vs Raiders (1984)
    2)* Bears vs Vikings (1984)
    3) Bears vs @Packers (1985)
    4) Bears vs @Cowboys (1985)
    5) *Bears vs @Bengals (1986)
    6) Bears vs @Cowboys (1986)
    7) Bears vs Giants (1987)
    8) Bears vs Cowboys (1988)
    9) Bears vs Dolphins (1988)
    10) *Bears vs Bills (1988)
    11) Bears vs Seahawks (1990)
    * Games you posted already. Too bad they took down the '84 game vs Vikings, the '86 game vs Buddy Ryan & the Eagles & the '88 game vs the Bills. They're assholes for doing that! Beau Bear you on the other hand need to just keep doing what you've BEEN doing! Thanks for these VERY much!!!!

    Fun fact- this was one of only TWO late afternoon starts on week 5 1990 (Bengals/Rams the other). Combination of bye weeks and a ton of early starting games.

      Didn't they play Denver in the afternoon in '90? The game went into O.T. I believe. That was the game Dan Hampton carried Lemuel Stinson off the field cause he got injured. Hampton also had a HELL of a hit on a Denver RB in that game! Beau Bear has that one too on here.

    You know what? Don Majikowski had his flaws. And he was only a really good QB for a season or two. But he had just enough toughness. Just enough talent. Just enough moxy, to be recognized in a few moments that remember in NFL history. I'm sure his teammates in 1989 and 1990 would attest to how good he was for that time.

    @ 2:12:45 can someone explain to me how the Bears were allowed to pick up a blocked punt and run it for a 1st down??? I thought that wasn't allowed?

    • @beaubear623
      @beaubear623  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      adaonetube The ball was behind the line of scrimmage, so the kicking team can advance it.

    • @adaonetube
      @adaonetube 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In 30+ years of watching football that might be the only time I've ever seen the kicking team get a 1st down off a block punted (not counting the Leon Lett blocked field because that was a bonehead play of him to touch the ball). I was always under the impression that the kicking team could only recover if it was touched by the return team first. A very RARE play.
