Lifted Suburban’s and Tahoe’s are smoking hot right now, people tend to keep them forever.
Got a 2000 thats actually an obs. 350 small block. 355k miles. All original except the radiator and water pump. Ill never sell it. Yeah, they're a little heavy and 14mpg sucks, but its been in the family since day 1 and new cars don't last.
I have THREE GMT400s….a 93 Suburban K2500, a 97 Tahoe 2-door and a 99 Tahoe 4-door. I love them all! (I bought the 97 2-door from one of the USAF Thunderbird pilots. He was the original owner.)
I also have a 97 2door, got it from the original owner and it even has the original working radio/CD player. I got lucky
As someone who had a 1999 Suburban 4x4 optioned with 3:73 axle, towing pkg, skid plates and 166 litre fuel tank (Canada, eh!) for 15 years...yes, they are a great truck! 16 inch wheels and E load rated tires just made it a better truck.
i have the same truck! go with coilover shocks in the rear.
It's amazing how you grow to love these things. Mine I got with 59k on it a bunch of years ago. I'm convinced the guy did not maintain it well, but it now has 258K on it and still pulls like a race horse. The rear pinion burned out and that's about it. Transmission has always had a Klunk! going into drive from park, and I'm still waiting for it to break. Oh well. NEVER had a problem with the drive train otherwise. It's been loaded with gaggles of scouts and gear once a month for about 10 years of it's life and it's been up a narrow mountain trail with @300lbs of lumber on top for an eagle project. Upgrades were the sound system, a pair of rear leafs from the 2 door model (couple of hundred pounds heavier than the stock). Repairs to a couple of water pumps, brakes, new vacuum pot for the power brakes, a radiator and other w&t items. This vehicle was on the road every day beating traffic from New Haven to Norwalk CT for work in the most miserable conditions you could imagine, but never let me down. Oh, gas tank. I have replaced the gas tank after the pump finally dropped into it (it's plastic and no known aftermarket). Finding one was a bear, but I'm happy again and buzzing down the highway.
My Tahoe came factory with factory drive lights in the bumper. But it's a Z71 package and it's a Arlington Texas Tahoe. And it's a 99. Only in 99 and 2000 the obs Tahoe z71 and Tahoe limited and the official pace truck had driving fog lights in the front bumper. The same bumper used for the diesel trucks.
Barn doors or Tailgate were an option. I still have my 1998 Tahoe, I had to search high and low to get a tailgate model. Barn doors were far more common in 1998.
I own a 1996 GMC Yukon SLT with the "GMC Truck" badge on the tailgate. 4WD, leather, all the lipstick available back in the day. I'm the second owner, purcahsed in 2006 and since then have "reconditioned" the truck, LED's in and out, paint, suspension front and rear upgraded (but old school in appearance) sound system and HVAC and more. Like you I've owned a bunch of vehicles over the years but I must say, this is the finest vehicle I've ever owned. If you see me at a stop light, sorry it's not for sale.
Got one myself...Pulled a 15k lbs skidsteer out of a clay bottom pond today....They're definitely tough...Mine has 230k miles, and i would take a road trip anytime....Solid machines granted the oil,and water systems are maintained..👌
Just bought a '99 Yukon with some unusual history. I'm the 7th owner but it only has 145k miles. Originally sold as a Canada export, then repatriated 3 years later. Had 105k miles put on it in the first 12 years, then 40k in the next 12 years. It has 4 year old tires with 1500 miles on them. Loaded with leather interior, dual air, and the G80 3.73 rear end. I'm loving it, and I may just keep it for the rest of my life.
i just picked me up a 2000 chevy tahoe z71 blue its amazing and immaculate im like you constantly searching and looking nice truck bro these are the best
I just overpaid for a 99 4x4 black lt tahoe but what i paid for it would have cost me to fix my dodge
I have noticed that the transfer case engages much faster after replacing the switches. The switches on my 99 tahoe were starting to become intermittent. Once I switched to the new switch it was noticeably faster to get into 4x4.
I just bought a truck very similar to his new one. Same year same trim. Different color. About the same condition I think. I will test out the new switch Theory
A awesome tahoe, I had a 2000 limited obs and still have a 1999 2 door z71 sport. Chevy/GM were made better back then
I just bought a green version of this just like this!!! About the same condition I think!!! It did need a few break lines and a power steering hose. And it could use a new battery but it's really exciting it's in nice shape
I got a 95 Tahoe. It’s been swapped to a 5 speed manual I love driving it! 222K still runs like a scraped ape
Also got the same plate on the front of mine.
I had a 99, great SUV. leather. I had to trade it for something more economical. It sure was confortable and ran execellent.
The transmissions I found are really solid built actually. The issue comes when people mistreat them. Towing heavy trailers/loads, if you don't use overdrive you won't kill the transmission. When people tow too heavy of loads in overdrive, it kills the torque converter which in turn kills the transmission. So as long as you treat it well, you shouldn't have any issue with the transmission.
I have a 01 tahoe z71 and i love it... 297000 and still running perfect
Wow, that headliner isn’t even sagging off. Impressive!
It looks really clean 👌🏽
I have an lt 4x4. Mine has leather seats. Their values are going up. I repainted mine. I have that. The 4l60e is a good trans. Service it regularly
still my fav truck. squares everywhere
That hum is most likely a wheel bearing. They hum in certain speed ranges usually at highway speed. When it gets bad enough it will sound like a propeller. That rear u joint usually squeaks in reverse when it's going out.
Score...no rust above right rear wheel-well & door area. I do love closing my 97 Tahoe barn doors.
I’m actually looking for one. The front end of those OBS chevys are hard to beat.
I actually loved the braking feel of my 97 Suburban and it was more than adequate. But my 1998 GMC Yukon before that would put you through the windshield so easy.
Yet I seem to be the only person who had that experience.. both were all original, under 100k mile examples with single, older, owners before me
I have a 99 Tahoe and if you adjust the rear drums correctly it will stop fairly well!
Another nice score.
My best friend gave me his '95 2dr Tahoe for free. Needs some work but it's driveable for now!
I just got a LT with 150K and engine runs like butter. But needs some TLC. Should be a fun project camping truck
True that.....the ultimate get away truck
Also, the intake manifold gaskets are an issue. If you have to replace use the felpro upgaded. It has a metal backing instead of plastic. The plastic ones sag and leak. The vortec intake only has 2 bolts on the front and back (both sides). Another issue is the injection spider, not a great design. The 4L60E will last a lot longer if you do regular maintenance.
nice!!! 03 owner. all the issues, so what?
easy fixes. great buy!
Nice LS.
I have one but it feels like is not going to stop and the brakes lock if i force them.
5.7 is a Beast high mileage 263,000 it's my only hang up but I think that I'm going to give it a home and I'm probably going to overpay he's asking $1500 for it drove it today has new steering box four new tires interior needs work parts replacement other than that it's a quick love affair great interview thank you hey what the hell I'm driving a 27-year-old classic vehicle... is still looking good fully equipped 1500 performance is strong and enjoyable no leaks and they rebuilt tranny to boot so it may be worth it
2wd or 4wd? What year?
It's the Is Pinion seal that goes out . You lose gear oil and they go poof
The squarebody is completely different
How much did you end up paying for it?
It looks like a good Tahoe.
I have 1995 suburban. k2500 454 silver and black ( original silver from [janesville, wisconsin], factory)
Same thing with the hood and roof paint.
I resprayed the roof with rust-oleum black. I didn't fix any on the hood yet. My hood looks cloudy and speckled with rock chips.
Still having those running boards attached is a bad thing...that style running board is notorious for rotting out the rocker panels, moisture gets trapped between them. If you're in a warm/dry climate and don't have to deal with road salt they might be ok...One of the first things I did when I got my burb was rip those running boards off, unfortunately the damage was already done and it does need rockers.
My 1999 Tahoe with running boards has been in eastern Idaho since 2008. We have pretty hard winters and use plenty of road salt. It was in Michigan for the previous 9 years. There is no hint of rust on the rocket panels. Maybe it’s because I run it through the carwash with underbody spray roughly once a month during the winter? I like how the running boards keep a lot of the road spray off of the lower doors.
You still have it? Highs and lows of ownership?
I want the corvette servo
I like mine .
I once had a 98 Yukon that felt fine and would put me through the windshield if I wasn't careful. Was stock except being lowered 3".
Now my 95 k1500 z71 pickup is shite for stopping power but likely needs brake work. Oil field junker..
What did you get it for?
How much did you sell it for?
Автор видео ведет одной рукой и не напрягается. Хорошая рулевая рейка. Я на своем Touareg 1 gp так же легко управляю. А иногда сядешь за меленький седан и как на ЗиЛ двумя руками крутить приходится.
I have barn door option
Buying a 2000 z71 tomorrow!
I fixed the seats in mine
How much did you end up paying for this?
Awesome GMT400 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV from Craigslist
Thank you Mr. Fanguy!
Weird that it has the grey seats /dash but beige carpet.
So how much you pay I missed it
Whats the mileage?
I am planning to buy a 1999 Tahoe 5.7 v8 2wd one owner with 90k miles from a distant family member. What should I check for before buying it?
Rust.
I could be wrong, but didn’t the LT come with leather seats while the LS came with cloth?
And, total score with that center console cup holder!! Most had that spot reserved to hold CDs!
Probably, but the PO custom ordered most of the options including the cloth interior.
@@AddictedMotors Your truck says LS on it not LT, the LS comes with cloth seats and the LT come with leather unless ordered from the factory with cloth. I had a 99 LT which came with leather.
My 96 Tahoe LT I just bought has leather
@@tysoncurrie7745 I have a 1999 lt it has leather heated seats from factory also heated mirrors and ac in the rear
in the midwest every one of those trucks have rotted to the ground
Not Mine, Cincinnati Ohio. Just bought yesterday. Was garage kept from a rich person
But will it make it up the mountain?
We’LL have to find out.
Swap to a nbs master cylinder for the brakes and have the abs system bled correctly just bleeding at the caliper doesn't work that well on these gmt400
Put a bigger trans cooler in it.
4l60es of that era don’t give you any sort of warning before they go. They just go. A bigger cooler and corvette servo are great and easy ways to help the longevity of it.
Barn doors were always an option. A superior option, I might add.
Electric 4x is slow because they probably hardly ever used it, playing with it in your driveway or wherever will wake it up and quicken it up.
Chances are, although sometimes you get lucky, that the locking rear end, no longer locks lol. But like I said, sometimes you get lucky and don’t ever have issues with them.
Yup I Second this I have a 97 k1500 tahoe I got an all aluminum radiator with the built in trans cooler for a 454 obs then upgraded the external trans cooler and I swapped to the corvette servo with a transport corrective shift kit I'm at 300k
So you paid way too much for it and you're trying to justify it? I love mine too.
does it have a cigarette lighter and ash tray?
Fo Sho
Mine too
LS...it's an L S ......NOT AN LT!.... 😂 😂
Exactly 💯
How much did you pay?
3k
I didn’t get the price which was how this video was labeled I overpaid but you don’t say what it is if you did I missed it…
What did you pay for it?
3k
@@AddictedMotors That's not overpriced for the Atlanta market
that’s a 20k truck .
I paid 3k for mine
Umm, not a squarebody
Not a square body🤪
Still got it?
No
@@AddictedMotors Did you make a profit? I'm planning on selling mine
@@amishadowbanned6264 always.
@@AddictedMotors good deal!!
we really need to stop acting like one owner vehicles mean you are getting a better vehicle. ive seen plenty of one owner vehicles that are trashed, and plenty more multi-owner vehicles that have been meticulously maintained. one owner just means you have a better chance of getting records and a back story on the vehicle. my 1996 GMC Suburban has had multiple owners and is in better condition than this tahoe
I got a one owner 88 Silverado, great shape. Trans went out in like 500 miles haha
Yakama nation. City named after tribe but spelled with a I 😅Yakima crazy remember seeing those alot 😮
