- Quick video showing a filter malfunction in Gen 3 Dodge Ram 1500’s. The Primary filter/Filter bushing fails causing the transmission to lose line pressure; thus not allowing torque converter to engage. If your Ram hesitates to go into gear when it’s cold, or fails to engage in any gear, this could be the issue you are having. Save yourself some $$ and grief!!

Thank you!!!!! It worked! You just saved me $3500! Any gear that I put my 08 Dodge Ram in would act like neutral. I replaced the transmission filters and bushing. Now she's running fine. You are a lifesaver, thank you so much!
Oh man, I hope this is my problem. After transfer case explored the front drive shaft for everywhere. I hope that's what got loose on mine. Will open tomorrow to see. Right on brother

This is what my 2006 5.7 did and i just knew it was toast from the smell but luckily new fulid and filters fix er on up but im afraid the damage has already been done
I did use a socket and a mallet to set that seal……have had no issues since
Thanks for the video I thought I messed up the transmission I have a 2004 dodge ram 5.7 4x4 and just went neautral I put it on reverse, drive, 1st and 2nd and no action I'm about to change the filter and what goes in there and hope for the best
hi john i was wondering if that worked it's happening to mines right now and trying to figure out whats wrong. i leaning towards changing the transmission selenoid shift but don't want to if it i spent all that money and it doesnt work. any information I greatly appreciate it man. Thanks
So did it work I was at the stoplight the other day and my truck jerked kind of hard when it took off and stopped. Initially thought did the brakes had locked up which it kind of did I brought it back home put new brake pads and rotors on it the back wheels turn freely now but every gear is like it's in neutral I can hear it going into gear but no movement forward or reverse

Ross dillard just had this happen to me today. Driving on highway hit a pot hole lost all power .engine reved .goes in gear makes whirring noise .gonna find out tomorrow. Hope this is the case .any other advice is welcome

I have a 2500 diesel, and no matter what position you put the lever in, the truck won't move. sometimes he tries for a few feet.

probably because most people just push it in by hand i took a socket lightly hit it til it sit flush then installed filter
I replaced my oil Ana filter today….. still
Same issue. However, do I need to “hammer” that in there? I presented and that was it. Should I take the pan down again and really push it in?

Yes, This was 100% the issue. Not enough pressure for converter to perform its job.
Local shop tried to get me to replace the transmission without even taking a look!!

My brother-in-law's truck has been having the same exact issue as the video subscriber has posted while reading through multiple forums I gathered that there is a small reset button next to your neutral light that should help reset it so you can then put it back into a gear from what I gathered as of now your T case is in neutral
@@alexseitz4972 yeah nothing worked. The transfer case shift motor burnt up so I removed it and manually put it in 2wd so I could get it home. I ended up driving it like that for a couple months. It was fine. New motor was $300. I put it on but started having issues again so the motor didn't just go, the root of the issue still exists. Either a sensor getting wet or the abs screwing up due to a loose wheel bearing. I have the new bearing but it's a pain in the ass to change. Have to pull the top ball joint and lay the spindle down to access the three bolts because the front axles are in the way

Well I just bought a 04 dodge ram 1500 with the 3.7l from a buddy because his wife was driving it and just randomly lost all gears but it ran fine before that sooo this might be the issue if so best 400$ I ever spent

@@edgargarcia7650 it did not unfortunately. Thinking it's the torque converter but found a trans with only 40k with a torque converter so gunna just get that
