Thanks Dave! I rock the 2X and ruck a good bit. I also use it to connect to my C2 Rower to get the data correct. I love this thing! If they push out a new version of this one, with more screen real-estate and that better Solar ring like the Fenix 8 and Enduro 3, I might have to upgrade :) And thanks for the update about that Rucking activity coming soon!!!
Thanks for watching! Yes, I'm hoping there can be a few nice upgrades to make it worth consideration. Question - do you currently track your rucking as hiking? That's what I've always done, but I'm wondering what others do
@@DaveDoesFitness Yeah I was using hiking as my go to for Rucking. But just the other day I found a hack. Setup a custom Cardio Workout with only one event (Walking). It lets you list a weight you use on it as well. Not sure if it updates any specific metrics, but its good for a lookback on prior progress.
I wouldn't think there'd be a situation half as bad as the Fenix 8 with the new code base, but it wouldn't be a Garmin launch without some bugs 🤣 Oh and I totally forgot to mention ECG! I had that listed as a possibility in the video I made over the Summer. It would definitely be a good addition
An engineer that detects Afit too. I found out I had abib after buying a Withings watch years ago. Ended up in hospital then having an ablation on my heart. Very scary time. A basic ecg won't cut it for me so hoping it picks up Afib.
Thanks Dave for the update. I just wonder if they will have some fancy formula, for instance if I carry a 50 lbs rucksack or a 30 lbs rucksack the output should be different because of the strain to my body + temperature, my pace etc. This being said it is important to give me as an owner of Garmin normal race prediction or my current fitness status. I hope they will put some solid software inside and after a while customers will have this sport mode in other models as well.
That's what I'm hoping for too. That you will at least be able to enter the weight of the pack. If it's just a renamed hiking profile that would be a letdown
For us long distance through hackers this is kind of a cool feature I've never really owned a smart watch and I'm not very techy I'm looking hard at the 2x but that thing is huge on my wrist but my eyes are going so not sure what I'm going to do but if someone were doing the Pacific Crest Trail that would be super fun to get the information about what you were doing with 30 lb on your back
Well id like to get rid of this horrible square screen and also to have sapphire and the newest HR sensor. Other than that i prefer the design of instinct 2x tactical coyote tan much more compared to lets say fenix line. Its just the repulsive square screen that screams 1991 that bothers me.
Garmin will frequently debut a new software feature on a device and keep it exclusive there for a quarter or two. For instance, the new strength coaching features that debuted on Fenix 8 are available on some forerunners in beta right now. So that's a long way of saying - Fenix 8 doesn't currently have it, but at some point down the line it will definitely get it.
dive mode please as the descent does not have the touch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!must have torch......must have dive mode...at least recreational diving....then the instinct will be perfect....d
Ah I totally forgot about the torch! (flashlight for the US folks 🔦) which could hopefully come to the standard and S size models. Diving has so far been kept in the higher end watches, but maybe a special edition for that? They did have an Instinct 2 with the tactical features so why not?
I think it's almost 100% that it comes out by the end of 2025, it's more a question of when. Fenix 7 was Jan 22, 7 Pro was May 23. Considering the same timeline the 8 was released in Aug 24 so it would be the end of 25 for the Pro, but I have heard that it would be on the earlier side of things for the 8 Pro and maybe a lot earlier than expected
Hey Dave, wouldn't be great if the would get in the full blown up gps just like the instinkt just gray scale and low rest!
I'm guessing you mean maps? If so, then that would definitely be a great upgrade for the 3
@ that's right maps 🐒,
I have Instinct 1. Does 2/2X have a HIIT function?
I know it’s not ideal without full maps, but if they could somehow implement grouptrack in the instinct it would be perfect in my eyes.

I hope the non-X variants will have HRV. I believe that only came on the 50mm Instinct 2
I’m calling an exterminator. Here come the bugs….I wish they would make a 47mm, flashlight, elevate 5, and ecg.

This is why I think it will have ecg if the advertisement was “monitor your health”.

I am really not sure, buy the Instinct 2x tactical now on Black Friday or wait for Instinct 3? Ahhh😢
Wait

Yes, even at the lower resolution, so much more can fit into a circular screen!
Does the Fenix 8 have the ruck option?

need maps
I'm not sure the display is a good fit for maps, but it would definitely be an improvement! 🗺️
It needs to have a serviceable/replacable battery
Please just give me the LED flashlight on a 45mm Instinct
I'm hoping that since the 47mm Fenix Pro and Fenix 8 models got it that the 45mm Instinct does too 🙏

Хули ты орёшь? Поработай с головой.
If the Fenix 8 Pro comes out next year, I will have lost faith in Garmin.

@DaveDoesFitness I bet it will have a louder speaker, clicky buttons and a free of bugs software
Maybe everything you mentioned except bugs.
L.O.L.
If you're laughing at my sighting... I risked life and limb to catch footage of that beast in the wild! 😆
