Instinct is a niche product. I think it doesn’t need storage for music and touchscreen, but maps would be nice. It comes with a decent price tag, if all those features you mentioned would be added, it would turn it into a robust version of Fenix.
Yeah, I really do hope Garmin smash it out the back with the Instinct 3X Pro Solar! I'm surprised it hasn't released already tbh! With all the leaks I thought we'd get it before Christmas but I guess it will be a CEX 2025 thing now (January) is my best guess
Jump to 9:10 for the TOPO maps section! I love what Suunto have done with their High Contrast Black & White maps on their MIP watches and really hope Garmin bring full TOPO B&W maps to the Instinct 3 😍🔥
There no reason why Garmin couldn’t do this. I honestly think a watch like that would dominate in the market. My only fear is that if they want to optimise profit, they’ll probably refrain from improving the memory. Which means half of these features won’t be possible and we’ll have to wait for the Instinct 4X instead. Fingers crossed though 😍
They’re so reminiscent of the Casio G-Shock! What I prefer about the Instinct is how lightweight they are! It’s definitely a more comfortable watch and probably just as durable (apart from not having a sapphire screen
I really think it’s going to be fantastic! That’s IF they tick all these requests off.. the 2X is already so good it’s going to take multiple improves to make it worth the upgrade. Vertical is my stripped back and clear… but the Enduro has much more information. The refresh rate is way better on the Suunto! But I like how much you can zoom out on Garmin
I really hope so! Coros have got to do something 😅🤣 We’re approaching 2 years old now… they released the Apex 1 in September & Apex 2 in November so literally any time now a new watch could be dropping in line with their previous releases. Stay tuned & fingers crossed 🫢
I think the earliest we’ll see this is November. Based on the information that the Tactix Amoled took about 3 months to come out after the Epix Gen 2 pro. I also personally think Coros will drop something in November so Garmin could suck some of that energy of Coros sales by dropping a Tactix. It also wouldn’t surprise if they just skip updating the Tactix and wait for the release of cycle of the Fenix 8 Pro. So maybe late February (a few months before a potential Fenix 8 PRO release). Hope this helps mate. It’s definitely worth NOT buying a Tactix and waiting on my opinion 🔥
@@ActiveIdeas oh now I am surprised. NOT worth getting a Tactix 7? So really wait for the new model? Why is that? What I have seen so far the new Fenix 8 is not really much better than the Fenix 7.
I guess it depends on the price! There are some fantastic deals on Epix Gen 2 Pro at the moment!! Seen them as low as $400.. wouldn’t pay much more than about $650 dollars on a Tactix 7 personally especially as it isn’t receiving any new UI updates
Not something I’ve tested on this watch tbh. If I wanted a watch for diving, this wouldn’t be the watch I’d get. I’d lean towards a Fenix 8 if I’m honest.. or the sexy but underground Suunto Ocean ;)
It has no e-bike ANT+ profile. So, it can't see the sensor that indicates battery. It has e-bike activity. But battery status and charts will not be available. Fenix 7 Pro have it. I don't think apart of design you can add new features. Music or mapping? No, as it is by design just rugged watch and not a multimedia station. Maybe better solar and longer battery. I found maps on F7 can be useful outdoors to find roads and trails. But can live without it.
Fair points Mangust! I just think for the Instinct 3X they’ll need to do something different, other wise people will just buy the older 2X instead. I think maps (black & white) would be the feature to make people consider upgrading 🔥
@@TheBigBlueMarble pretty niche example but I think this is a niche product? Who ‘REALLY’ needs unlimited battery life? Next to nobody. But if you’re in the military or doing some crazy hikes having more memory or unlimited battery life will matter. The second you start saving locations, routes and courses, it can fill up quicker than you’d expect. It’s cool Garmin make other watches such as the Tactix.. but just you wait, the long awaited Instinct 3 is coming and there are some MASSIVE upgrades to come with it 🔥 Thanks for the comment mate ❤️
@@ActiveIdeas When I hiked the PCT in 2022 I would have liked to have had it. I am headed for the northern part of Thailand in January and expect to have only occasional access to power.

Man if it gets maps! That’s a game changer

I love the design. Reminds me of my Casio G-shock watches (got 5 of them)

Yep kinda ook like my old casio pathfinder tough solar
😍😍😍
Sounds like the 3 is going to be a good watch. How do you like the way the maps look on the vertical compared to the enduro 3?

@@ActiveIdeas thanks, I appreciate the feedback!
Sick one brother, are you gonna do a review on the Amazfit T-Rex 3?
I am! Shipping is taking longer than usual but should be here soon 🔥 Can’t wait to compare this to the Fenix
I know they are completelly different watches, but still... If you had to choose one: Instinct 2x vs Suunto Race/Vertical? Preciate the answer!
For me if I could only use one watch it would still be the Suunto Vertical. It’s been over a year and this thing is still a beast!
Great review as always do you think Coros will release a new apex and apex pro soon?
I really hope so! Coros have got to do something 😅🤣 We’re approaching 2 years old now… they released the Apex 1 in September & Apex 2 in November so literally any time now a new watch could be dropping in line with their previous releases. Stay tuned & fingers crossed 🫢
@@ActiveIdeas I think after the release of the dura they might make a solar version I think that be pretty awesome.
@tec2224 that’s a great point actually! They have the technology to do it now! Corrr, Coros plus Solar would be insane 🔋
What sunto has MIP black and white maps?
All of them do but I demonstrated the black and white maps in this video with the Suunto Vertical 🔥
I love the way the maps look on the Suunto vertical, very clean and polished.
@@JamesWilliam70 same! It looks great on there!

@@ActiveIdeas what about 800$ instead for a Fenix 7 pro solar? worth it?
If that’s the Tactix Amoled 7.. yes, I’d say $800 is just about worth it 🔥👊🏽
what about recreational dive mode🤔
Not something I’ve tested on this watch tbh. If I wanted a watch for diving, this wouldn’t be the watch I’d get. I’d lean towards a Fenix 8 if I’m honest.. or the sexy but underground Suunto Ocean ;)

Great video as usual! I loved the Instinct 2X and can't wait to see if/when Garmin makes an Instinct 3 👌🏻
Too kind Matt! Cheers 🔥👊🏽 Yeah, fingers crossed they pour all their love into a new Instinct 3.. that would be amazing 👌🏽
Who would ever want 450 activities on a watch? If you want maps and additional GPS...Garmin makes the Tactix.
