"Dave thanks you for this great review. You covered all the functions and mentioned the drawbacks. I’ve already decided-I’m going to buy the T-Rex. I think it offers the best value for the money."
Thanks for watching and glad it was helpful! I've got some links in the description to buy from Amazfit or Amazon. Both currently have discounts and the links support the channel. Hope you like your watch! 💪🏃
@mmihaitiganus2648 yes definitely do purchase locally to help with any possible warranty/ return needs. You watching the channel and interacting in the comments is already great support. Thank you!
Objectively comparing the Amazfit T-Rex 3 to a market of more expensive established peers, this review stands out as the most comprehensive and insightful to date.
Terrific video. I'm glad you went all-in on a very in-depth review. I'm impressed you even went into the data-privacy info. Nobody has mentioned that yet, and I was surprised they went that far.
Thanks for watching! Yes, I think their data privacy policy is pretty solid. They go into their AWS storage, give you the option to keep all activity data local, sent to email for personal storage, etc.
Fantastic review! I love Garmin but it’s hard for me to justify it with how I train. Trex gives you a similar look and experience for much cheaper. Tempted to pick one up
Hi Dave Thanks for honest review? Can we make our customize intervals like garmin & coros watches? Will Trex 3 show splits like above watches ,i mean warm up ,run, rest & cool down etc? If possible show them Thanks in an advance
thanks for the reveiw, loved it. just a suggestion: exact look n feel of the watch on the wrist, especially if the wrist is small. what are your measurement of wrist and how it looks would be a good peace of information. as u know optics also matters.
Thanks for the suggestion, I will do some display of the fit in future videos. I guess at least the thumbnail has the watch on my wrist. I just measured my left wrist and it comes right about 168mm or 6.6"
What a great review. Owned an earlier version of an Amazfit and found it to be pretty good. Ultimately, I purchased a Garmin Phoenix 7 after trying several others, including Suunto. I've been super happy with the Garmin. However, this new Amazfit seems really compelling, especially at the price point.
Nice one Dave! I’ve been comparing it to the F8 and I’m also well impressed with what Amazfit have done here. A lot of people are going to love this watch ⌚️ Still not convinced by the premium features though
Thanks for stopping by! Haven't had a chance to watch your review yet, but saw some excitement for it in the Amazfit subreddit. I'll be sure to check it out
@ A pleasure mate 🌟 Corr unfortunately my video’s a long one! Nothing you won’t already know! 🙈 Only a week into testing atm but I’m loving it so far 👊🏽
Hi Left, yes you can. The T-Rex 3 supports bluetooth sensors, not ANT+. That includes HR straps, speed / cadence sensors, power meters, etc. There is a full list of specific models supported here: us.amazfit.com/pages/supported-bluetooth-peripherals
While I have installed that update on my watch, I'm pretty sure all of the filming took place before that update was pushed out. I will have to see about doing another comparison run soon to see if performance has increased
Actually is liquid silicone which is better than silicone, is more soft and elastic so it won't "hurt" your wrist at all. Starting material Silicone is sometimes used to refer to the initial stock used to make silicone products. Earlier grades of silicone were semi-solid and gummy, and required compression molding. Liquid silicone rubber (LSR) LSR is a liquid silicone elastomer that's used in a variety of industries, including healthcare, food packaging, and automotive. LSR is made by mixing silicone polymer and a cross-linking agent, and then injecting the mixture into a mold. LSR is ideal for creating detailed parts, and is often used in medical applications where it comes into contact with human skin. LSR is odorless, non-irritating, and safe for the environment.
Thanks for watching! The T-Rex 3 is brighter than the Epix, but I've had the Epix for years and haven't struggled seeing it during activities. So I think both work well, but the edge goes to the T-Rex
This watch is a very good candidate to win the award the best beginner adventure smartwatch of the year. Because if you go to the wild you cannot count with the navigation features in the watch, its a good watch for outdoors beginners and thats it. But i believe 90% of people not use navigation features on his life, for this 90% this is a good buy, the chinese zepp knowing very well what need to do to catch costumers. very well done video Dave❤❤
I just checked all the AOD and none of them have a second hand. There are of course normal watch faces that do and there are settings to extend how long the display stays on so it could potentially still work, but would require a wrist gesture.
Unfortunately my neighborhood pool is closed for the season and I don't have access to an indoor pool..I do want to test it in the water at some point though so maybe an update video down the line
Amazing i went from Trex2 to the 3 and how good the watch now is for cycling. To a point I can easily compare to my chest strap. Even workout now, i take few samples of my heart beat, and it is on pair every single time. The battery life is a little disappointing compare to my old Trex2, but it was just about 4 days less.

@@DaveDoesFitness I'm from Europe and is better to purchase the watch from here, even if the price is higher, 299 euros.

Definitely the video I was waiting for!! 💪💪🔥
Hope you liked it!
@@DaveDoesFitness Yes a lot I was undecided but now I see clearly! Thank you!! Keep up the good reviews you've got a really great TH-cam channel. 💪👍💪🏃
Doing a great job with the channel. Like the content.
Thanks for the support! 🙏

Can you connect a heart rate strap to the TREX 3 like the Garmin HRM-Pro?

Did you upgrade latest firmware for this review? I saw some people said they fixed about preciously for HR and some stability.

Is the band nylon or silicon? Great review!
Silicone
Hi Brett, the band is silicone, did I say nylon in the video? 🤦
Actually is liquid silicone which is better than silicone, is more soft and elastic so it won't "hurt" your wrist at all.

Silicone is sometimes used to refer to the initial stock used to make silicone products. Earlier grades of silicone were semi-solid and gummy, and required compression molding.

Was the Trex easier to see in direct sun than the Epix?
Thanks for watching! The T-Rex 3 is brighter than the Epix, but I've had the Epix for years and haven't struggled seeing it during activities. So I think both work well, but the edge goes to the T-Rex

Obrigado!
Is there an always on watch face that shows movement of the second hand? I work in healthcare and need that for taking heart rates. Thanks!
I just checked all the AOD and none of them have a second hand. There are of course normal watch faces that do and there are settings to extend how long the display stays on so it could potentially still work, but would require a wrist gesture.
How does the VO2 Max compare to Garmin?
Garmin has me at 50 while Zepp has me at a 47. Garmin has been steady for quite a while at 50-51 and Zepp had me at 47-48 so not too far off.
@DaveDoesFitness that is pretty close. Thanks for the response.
@jonathantimm4645 thank you for watching the video 💪🏃
What about swimming metrics?
Unfortunately my neighborhood pool is closed for the season and I don't have access to an indoor pool..I do want to test it in the water at some point though so maybe an update video down the line

As far as points of interest, I know zepp has partnered with komoot. You send maps from komoot to the watch, so maybe that would be beneficial.
That could definitely be a solution to the lack of trail information. Thanks for letting me know, I'll have to look into it!
