I'm a rajput. Even today our elders teach us to continue to live by the same code of honour though it's diluted in mordern times. The rajputs would never burn farmlands or harm peasants or even attack an enemy behind their backs. However this "code" did cost us several wars so it's quite criticised today😅

Wow, great video. On rajputs, there is a great deal of divided opinion. One one side they're praised for their bravery and valour and on the other side they're criticised for not being able to protect the frontiers. Nevertheless, there were rajput kings who successfully defeated the foreign invaders & checked their advance for almost 400 years since the first invasion.

I am Rajput Kshatriya based in the Bihar and I have been told about how thru the centuries my ancestors have fought against enemies of India. Initially , from Ujjain, my ancestors fought against Mughals and before that some Turkish general and most of the family were massacred , the few who were left settled in Aara , Bihar . We again fought for Raja Kunwar Singh in 1857 against British .After losing the battle the whole family was again massacred by the British. Many people don’t know this but British targeted even the wives and kids of those who participated in revolt of 1857. One of my great grandfather ran away to Nepal border with just one son to save his lineage . Our grandfathers again participated in independence movement and 2 of them lost lives against British in 1942 and now we are settled in Bihar Nepal border. We are poor but still live by Rajput code and are proud of sacrifices by our ancestors.
Mughal empire was built through alliance of pragmatic Akbar with the Rajputs with rajput generals defeating other muslim powers like adil shahis in deccans, muslim rajputs kings in Gujarat and Afghans in Benga and North west. After death of Aurangzeb Mughal king farrukhsiyar was blinded and killed by rajput king ajit singh in 1719 within mughal palace and puppet emperor placed after that. So mughal empire was actually destroyed by Rajputs who built it after revolting against radical Aurangzeb. Despite doing this much, many ungratefuls have issue that there was marriage alliance between Rajputs and Mughal kings, which was the norm between allied kings, with even mughal princesses like Akbar's niece marrying Man Singh. Their own foreathers were supplying mistresses for favours but now they will preach and point fingers at queens whose sons became kings.

Couple of additions here. The concept of Jowhar (female self immolation) came in later during the rajput era, when they started defending against Is**mic invaders. Early days of Rajput warfare did not see the need for such acts. The Rajput confederacy was merely how we classify them today for academic convenience. The Rajputs never managed to see themselves as a confederacy or even see themselves as a single "Rajput" cultural identity. Different clans had their own identity, not similar to that of the other Rajputs. They never managed to create an empire.
Gurjara pratihar was a rajput Empire and even before that the Guptas and the Mauryans. But rajput words were not in use at that time. They were called 'rajanya' then.

I am Rajput. Sometimes, I blame my ancestors to have such an honour based war which costed them dearly. They had code of honour such as they can't kill enemy king if he is unarmed, there are more such codes which costed them a big loss. Wherever the invaders were cruel, barbaric. They didn't care of such things. They had to conquer and destroy the native culture, rape the women, kill the children and destroy the towns. But I can also proudly say that Our ancestors were a high value humans. After conquering, they never touched any women, children.

Clans of Indus plains (which now are mostly in Pak side) differ a lot from clans of Ganga plains. Same with western clans(Rajasthan, Gujarat). Lot of diversity.

Shree rama and krishna were also rajput. Gautam buddha was born in a kshatriya family Mahavir swami was born in kshatriya family. Bahmani kingdoms hasan gangu was a brahmin before that doesnt mean the whole clan of brahmins because of him. I belong to the clan of raja bhavani singh of fatehpur go read about his history.. Millions of rajputana ladies including rani padmini did jauhar and rajputs did saaka against islamic invaders.
I'm just surprised as an Indian you didn't mention the greatest Rajput warrior of all time : Maharana Pratap . He was the only king , king of Mewar , who didn't accepted 3rd Mughal Emperor Akbar's imperial domination and fought till his last breath. Rana is a title as far as i know as you mentioned Rana Sangha but Maharana is a title only he has earned at least what i have learned from Rajput history.

Rajputs have the highest number of military awards in both India and Pakistan. Called Param Vir Chakra in India and Nishan I Haider in Pakistan. Good to see that their descendants continued their ancestors military legacy.

Im sure Im not the first to make this comparison, but this sounds extremely similar to medieval Europe. Big empire collapses and after a long era of chaos, a militaristic aristocracy of mixed origin rises to power, devoloping feudalism, where the decentralisation of that system allows the region to prosper despite the constant war. I guess differences arise with the rise of the Muslim Empires but my point still stands

Later aurangzeb abolished all his policies and the treaty got violated. There after rajputs started war against Aurangzeb which resulted in rajputs winning most of the Mughal territories till Delhi

Indian history is fascinating and incredible..from greeks to huns from maratha to sikh from mongol to persians. It is one of the most underrated region when it comes to history. It's so fascinating to know how greeks and indian rulers not just fought but actually worked with each other. Greeks converted to Buddhism here which was interesting to me.

As a rajput i have always heard some old sayings of rajput households specially from my mother , one of them being ' if you are a rajput boy of age above 16 then it's a disgrace not having being achieved veergati in ranbhumi ' ( an old saying of medieval era i suppose ) ...and many more...wars have always been glorified in Rajput culture.

Very educational video. Please make a video about Maratha warriors too. Maratha empire began with Chatrapati Shivaji. They fought with mughals and other invaders to establish sovereign Hindu kingdom. This empire covered most of India in 17th and 18th century.

He made several mistakes in his book and wrote a girl named 'Jodha' married Akbar. But neither in Akbarnama ( Akbar self written book) and neither in Jahangirnama ( Akbar's son book). Is there anyone named 'Jodha'. This has already been rejected by modern historians. The name 'Harka bai' was mentioned in Jahangirnama. Kachwaha rajputs used to call this female servants as 'harku'(later named as harkabai as mentioned in Jahangirnama). She was a Persian servant who grew up in the Rajput States and knew all their traditions. She was married to Akbar. The Afghan sources and mughals sources also mentioned that they doubted it was the real daughter of the rajputs as no one was sad and cried of his departure ( a common thing in Hindus when their daughters get married). Also the hindu rituals were not followed by the rajputs in that wedding.

Highest concentration of Anglo Indians in WB still to this day. Whose daughters were having foreigners in their wombs? The Rajputs held off the armies of the caliphate. I have seen in the comment section that many are saying that code of honour has costed us lots of wars yeah that is true but rajputs has done there duty quite successfully by stopping the invasions for some 500 years and even after that 700-800 years of struggles with invaders , but main thing is that that beacuse of that code of honour we are respected in Indian society. Even God Krishna has said to Arjuna "Many times even cowards will win the battle but glory will eventually come to Veer(True Warrior) only".

I'm a rajput. Even today our elders teach us to continue to live by the same code of honour though it's diluted in mordern times. One one side they're praised for their bravery and valour and on the other side they're criticised for not being able to protect the frontiers. Nevertheless, there were rajput kings who successfully defeated the foreign invaders & checked their advance for almost 400 years since the first invasion.

I am Rajput Kshatriya based in the Bihar and I have been told about how thru the centuries my ancestors have fought against enemies of India. Initially , from Ujjain, my ancestors fought against Mughals and before that some Turkish general and most of the family were massacred , the few who were left settled in Aara , Bihar . We again fought for Raja Kunwar Singh in 1857 against British .After losing the battle the whole family was again massacred by the British. Many people don’t know this but British targeted even the wives and kids of those who participated in revolt of 1857. One of my great grandfather ran away to Nepal border with just one son to save his lineage . Our grandfathers again participated in independence movement and 2 of them lost lives against British in 1942 and now we are settled in Bihar Nepal border. We are poor but still live by Rajput code and are proud of sacrifices by our ancestors.
Mughal empire was built through alliance of pragmatic Akbar with the Rajputs with rajput generals defeating other muslim powers like adil shahis in deccans, muslim rajputs kings in Gujarat and Afghans in Benga and North west.
After death of Aurangzeb Mughal king farrukhsiyar was blinded and killed by rajput king ajit singh in 1719 within mughal palace and puppet emperor placed after that. So mughal empire was actually destroyed by Rajputs who built it after revolting against radical Aurangzeb.
Despite doing this much, many ungratefuls have issue that there was marriage alliance between Rajputs and Mughal kings, which was the norm between allied kings, with even mughal princesses like Akbar's niece marrying Man Singh. Their own foreathers were supplying mistresses for favours but now they will preach and point fingers at queens whose sons became kings.

The concept of Jowhar (female self immolation) came in later during the rajput era, when they started defending against Is**mic invaders. Early days of Rajput warfare did not see the need for such acts.
The Rajput confederacy was merely how we classify them today for academic convenience. The Rajputs never managed to see themselves as a confederacy or even see themselves as a single "Rajput" cultural identity. Different clans had their own identity, not similar to that of the other Rajputs. They never managed to create an empire.
Gurjara pratihar was a rajput Empire and even before that the Guptas and the Mauryans. But rajput words were not in use at that time. They were called 'rajanya' then.

Also, the first instance of Jauhar happened when the last Hindu ruler of Sindh(modern day Pakistan) died fighting Arab invaders, later his wife fought the war but soon she realized that her defeat was inevitable so she along with other women of her palace decided to commit Jauhar because the Arabs were known to take women as sex slaves.
The second instance was ofcourse the jauhar of Maharani Padmavati.

I am Rajput. Sometimes, I blame my ancestors to have such an honour based war which costed them dearly. They had code of honour such as they can't kill enemy king if he is unarmed, there are more such codes which costed them a big loss. Wherever the invaders were cruel, barbaric. They didn't care of such things. They had to conquer and destroy the native culture, rape the women, kill the children and destroy the towns.
But I can also proudly say that Our ancestors were a high value humans. After conquering, they never touched any women, children.

Im sure Im not the first to make this comparison, but this sounds extremely similar to medieval Europe. Big empire collapses and after a long era of chaos, a militaristic aristocracy of mixed origin rises to power, devoloping feudalism, where the decentralisation of that system allows the region to prosper despite the constant war. I guess differences arise with the rise of the Muslim Empires but my point still stands

Later aurangzeb abolished all his policies and the treaty got violated. There after rajputs started war against Aurangzeb which resulted in rajputs winning most of the Mughal territories till Delhi

Indian history is fascinating and incredible..from greeks to huns from maratha to sikh from mongol to persians. It is one of the most underrated region when it comes to history. It's so fascinating to know how greeks and indian rulers not just fought but actually worked with each other. Greeks converted to Buddhism here which was interesting to me.

I am a Sisodia. My ancestors hailed from Chittor, but they eventually settled in the ‘Satha Chaurasi’ (trans. 60-84) region of Western Uttar Pradesh. This area is a confluence of 60 Guhilot hamlets (later known as Sisodia, after Rana Hammir of Sisoda reclaimed Chittor from the Delhi Sultanate) and 84 Tomara hamlets. It encompasses parts of present-day Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida, Meerut, Hapur, and Muzaffarnagar.
The Satha-Chaurasi region holds special significance in Indian history, although its local inhabitants have largely forgotten or ignored it. Over centuries of Arab and Turk aggression, Satha Chaurasi became a safe haven for Guhilots and other Rajputs. Despite being ruled by various dynasties-including the Tomara, Chauhan, Sultanate, and Mughals-the Rajputs in this area maintained their core customs and ideologies.
Living by the sword, my ancestors were perpetually at war. They excelled as swordsmen and archers. Regardless of the ruling dynasty, they actively sought Rajput men to bolster their forces. Remarkably, even today, the Rajputs of the 60-84 region hold extensive land holdings, despite losing much of it during the post-Independence Zamindari Act. The youth from this area continue to make significant contributions to the Indian Army and other military and paramilitary forces.
An intriguing fact: The name ‘Sisodia’ originates from the village of ‘Sisoda,’ where Rana Hammir hailed from. However, ‘Sisoda’ translates to ‘those who give their heads.’ I consider my people to be the most patriotic souls this land has ever borne. Our motto remains unwavering: to either sever heads or sacrifice our own-all for the soil of India.
Being a rajput, it gave me immense honour knowing about my roots even better.
The Code of honour does remain a very integral part of our upbringing, and time and again we are reminded of it, especially through your videos, to hold our grounds and serve our society well.

As a rajput i have always heard some old sayings of rajput households specially from my mother , one of them being ' if you are a rajput boy of age above 16 then it's a disgrace not having being achieved veergati in ranbhumi ' ( an old saying of medieval era i suppose ) ...and many more...wars have always been glorified in Rajput culture.

In terms of emphasis on practicing a code of honour and ethics, Rajput society, atleast historically, could draw a parallel in the Samurai class of Japan where the code was more 'codified', so to speak, into what is known as Bushido.

Very educational video. Please make a video about Maratha warriors too. Maratha empire began with Chatrapati Shivaji. They fought with mughals and other invaders to establish sovereign Hindu kingdom. This empire covered most of India in 17th and 18th century.

One thing that i can say on behalf of all Rajputs is that we have this never say die attitude within our blood and thats something we have in our genes... So however tough a situation is in our life we never give up..... We face the hardships head on and never ever give up....Our Courage is our Motivation🙏

@@kaoskronostyche9939 this misunderstanding comes from the book of 'antiques and annals of Rajasthan by James todd' which he wrote in the 19th century. He made several mistakes in his book and wrote a girl named 'Jodha' married Akbar. But neither in Akbarnama ( Akbar self written book) and neither in Jahangirnama ( Akbar's son book). Is there anyone named 'Jodha'.
This has already been rejected by modern historians. The name 'Harka bai' was mentioned in Jahangirnama. Kachwaha rajputs used to call this female servants as 'harku'(later named as harkabai as mentioned in Jahangirnama).
She was a Persian servant who grew up in the Rajput States and knew all their traditions. She was married to Akbar. The Afghan sources and mughals sources also mentioned that they doubted it was the real daughter of the rajputs as no one was sad and cried of his departure ( a common thing in Hindus when their daughters get married). Also the hindu rituals were not followed by the rajputs in that wedding.

I really enjoyed this segment on a warrior people. The Rajput reminded me of the Samurai.
The Japanese caste system mirrored the Indian one and the system was exported to other countries all the way to Phillipines. The difference was in Japanese the king was higher than priest while it was opposite in India which used to cause lots of friction b/w the priestly caste and Warrior castes for example most of Indian religions were created by warrior caste as a revolt against the priestly caste.

@Debo Datta I disagree. Sure, they made deals to survive in a tumultuous time. What were the Bengalis doing? Converting to Islam, licking British boots. Highest concentration of Anglo Indians in WB still to this day. Whose daughters were having foreigners in their wombs?
The Rajputs held off the armies of the caliphate. The same caliphate that was not there to raid but swallow an entire culture like it did to Iran.
It's OK though. I respect your opinion on the rajputs. Not everyone has to agree. It's also important to not look back on history with rose coloured glasses.

I am a Parmara/Chauhan Rajput. People shouldn’t forget DNA from maternal lineage. Very soon, I will be going for 23/Me DNA ancestry test, this way my clan should know our origin.
Fun fact: Rajputs make hardly 4% of Indian population, and they are highest gallantry award winners. Highest PVC(Param Veer Chakra)6, out of 23. And there gallantry award is higher in Pakistan too, those who converted to Islam.
Just one war- Battle of Haifa,1st WW. 115 odd Rajputs under British, had the last cavalry charge of modern war fare, only armed with Lances- they captured Haifa. With the support of Mysore Lancers as well.

Yes their was historical rivalry b/w Jats & Rajputs since Rajputs were revenue collectors while Jats were land owners.
