    Additional Interesting facts about Armenia:
    1. Hayastan is the Armenian name for Armenia, derived from the Haya people who were present even before the formation of Urartu.
    2. Around the year 405 AD the Armenian linguist Mesrop Mashtots developed the unique Armenian alphabetic script still used today.
    Հայաստանի Հանրապետություն
    Hayastani Hanrapetut’yun
    3. Classical Armenian contains loanwords from Parthian, Greek, Syriac, Latin and other languages such as ancient Uratian.

@Jamal Gold The Urartu evolved out of confederations of "the kings of Nairi" which spoke multiple languages. The Urartian state language is closely related the the Hurrian languages in the south...but although it was the state language there were several languages spoken by the population of the Kingdom/Empire.
I believe the direct link between ancestry and language spoken is a tenuous one. There are numerous cases from ancient to modern times of a people adopting a different language. A great example is Aramean/Aramaic which became an incredibly widespread language in recorded history because of its utilitarian ease of use compared to the more complex languages of the near east that had proceeded it. Millions of people not descended at all from the Arameans adopted that language and abandoned their mother tounges over time. When one tries to reconstruct a language (especially in a time before writing) and ascribe a particular ancestry to that group, this contains a greater degree of speculation than fact.

Honestly just amazed at how old Armenia actually is sometimes. As a fan of Roman history, I knew it was quite old because any survey of Roman (or Persian) history will bring up Armenia over and over. Still blows my mind a little just how ancient their origins are. Respect to Armenia and Armenians from Norway.

There are some facts which are true but they are really not enough to explain the reasons behind the genocide. The coup d'etat agains Abdulhamid has more motives behind than a small group of jewish community which is hardly tied to Teodor Hertzl ideals. Best regards.

SINCE THEY CAME IN 1043 AD. in the former DUKLJA (TODAY'S MONTENEGRO), and after the middle of the 18th century in SERBIA, THEY ARE CONTINUOUSLY EXPANDING AND LOOKING FOR NEW TERRITORY FROM SERBIA, MONTENEGRO, MACEDONIA AND GREECE, AND THEY WANT GREAT ALBANIA IN THE TERRITORY OF CROATIA AND BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA.
IT'S GOOD THAT YOU GET RID OF THEM AND THEY ARE 826 AD. FOREVER THEY GONE FROM YOU, EVEN THOUGH YOU GAVE THEM RELIGION AND CHURCH, LANGUAGE AND SCRIPTURE. THEY DON'T RECOGNIZE YOU, THEY ONLY RECOGNIZE THEIR MUSLIM "BROTHERS" Azerbaijan, who say they are descendants of Albanians.

@CrossWood Productions You have no idea what you are talking about.

    • @dtab276
      @dtab276 5 ปีที่แล้ว +25

@CrossWood Productions You said they "never" lived there. I said, they have lived there throughout history. Armenians have lived in Islamic Egypt for centuries...as an Armenian whose grandfather was born in Egypt. The Fatimid calculations are up to 100,000, and Armenians had relative peace under the dynasty. For example, Armenian mercenaries helped conquer Cairo, and later resettled in the region, and many Armenian princes and politicians worked in the Egyptian court. Nubar Nubarian later became the FIRST prime minister of Egypt in 1876. In Persia, Armenians make up the largest Christian minority. Even if we neglect Persian annexation of the Caucasus, there was a major Armenian population in Persia Proper in Isfahan called New Julfa since the 1600's. Many Persian diplomats to Europe were of Armenian origin. In the 1800's, the Persian Imam called for the restoration of dozens of Armenian churches. I assume I don't have to go into further detail about Armenians in the Levant and Anatolia, since it's a given that Armenians have lived in Lebanon, Israel, Syria, Turkey, and Palestine for many centuries before the genocide, and my Iraqi friend above already made it known that Armenians lived in Iraq. In fact, Armenians lived in Iraq since Babylon and the Safavid King Abbas the Great created a community of Armenians in Iraq since 1604. To further emphasize the fact that Armenians have always been cosmopolitan, the oldest church in Singapore still in use is Armenian, since 1836. Church in Bangladesh since 1781. Armenians have lived in India for centuries (the Mughal King Akbar the Great had an Armenian wife, Armenian chief justice, and Armenian physician) and Kabul. Armenians even had trade colonies as far as Poland, Bulgaria, and, China.
Our historical relationship with Muslims have always been up and down. There were times that we were attacked by Muslims and times they have given us peace and even friendship. Usually, the Arabs and Persian Muslims were kind to us, my grandfather even calls the Persians "our most kindest enemy." Under Turkish Muslims, we had a harder times, but even under Ottomans we had eras of prosperity and peace prior to 1800's. We have always been friendly with Muslims when they offer friendship, and enemy if they declared war on us. But I think this is true for any minority who has lived in any empire ever. There were times in Europe when Jews and gypsies were accepted, and times when not. That's reality, and I can't be mad about that.

The history of the Irevan Khanate is an integral part of the rich material and cultural history that the Azerbaijani nation has been developing for millennia. The Irevan Khanate was one of the Azerbaijani states, Khanates, established in the wake of the collapse of Nadir-shah's empire in the mid-18th century. Currently the territory of the Armenian Republic, until quite recently - early 19th century - it was an Azerbaijani state of Irevan Khanate. The oldest indigenous population of this land was the aboriginal owners of the territory, the Azerbaijani Turks. The territory where the Irevan Khanata came to existence is one of the oldest Turkish lands. Hurrits, Cimmerians, Scythians, Saks, Huns and other numerous Oghuz and Kipchak Turks who were closely involved in the formation of the Azerbaijani people inhabited this region, in particular the lands around the Goycha lake, and left a profound historical and cultural trace. Significant historic events and processes described in «Kitabi-Dede Gorgud», a heroic epos of the Azerbaijani and other Turkic nations, took place in the territory of Irevan Khanate, in this area. The «Oghuzname» commissioned by the great ruler of Azerbaijan, Uzun (Long) Hassan (1468-1478), the «Kitabi-Diyarbakriyya» narrated that the warlord Oghuz, the predecessor of the Oghuz Turks, lived, died and was buried in this area, on the shores of the Goycha sea. The khan of khans, warlord Bayandur, and many other Oghuz Turk rulers also lived and died, were buried in these lands.
The territory of the Irevan Khanate had always been part of Azerbaijan, from the most ancient times, excepting periods when the land was occupied by different invading empires. These lands were also one of the regions of the most close-knit Azerbaijani Turk community

    A few corrections:
    1) We never converted to Zoroastrianism. We had our own pagan beliefs. The Sassanid Persians fought a war against Christian Armenia to force us to convert to Zoroastrianism. Personally, I think both sides were silly to fight. Christianity and Zoroastrianism are both peaceful Monotheistic religions. Stupid politics again ruining good things.
    2) You failed to mention the events of 1915 as the Armenian Genocide. The Ottoman Turks use the excuse of Armenians supporting the Russians, but the truth is that they wanted to create a Pan-Turkic empire that stretches from Turkey all the way to the Eastern Central Asia, and unfortunately Armenia was the Christian nation that was in between them and the rest of the Central Asian countries. They wanted to execute every last Armenian on the planet and to bring our ancient civilization to extinction.
    3) You also failed to include Karabagh and the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the Pogroms of Sumgait in 1988.
