Well, I disagree that the Sassanids destroyed themselves moreso than that basic human greed and distrust from the people did. The govt. of the Sassnid Empire have actually been much more stable and competent than any other nations of their time. Ancient Hoplite Parsa means noble in Persian. It's a different word than Pars (Tho might share the same origin becuz they sound really similar) which means Persis or you could say Persia( I don't think there is any equivalent for Persia in the Persian language since such terms were never used.)

Iran has always been a strong nation, ever since descending from Scythia Aryas upon Elam, founding Eran. Iran was able to have its own independent revolution and make a Republic, but unfortunately British oilmen didn't want to lose their source of fortune so they told the US that Iran was underthreat of a communist revolution so for the first time the US enacted a regime change outside of wartime based on a lie and they set up a puppet dictatorship. Darius says he’s a Persian yes, he also notes he’s an Aryan. Herodotus (he has issues don’t get me wrong) there wasn’t much difference between Medes, Persians, Parthians and otherwise. Saying the Parthians were foreign is like saying the Qing dynasty is foreign to China or even better the Seljuks are foreign to Iran. I think 18:30 and on is the most interesting takeaway from this. The future could have been entirely different had Phokas not rebelled and killed Emperor Maurice - who himself would have made an incredibly interesting alternate future for the empire. A Persian and Roman/Greek alliance would have been glorious.
I have always seen this as one of the greatest far reaching decisions ever. Maurikios ordering his soldiers to march along the Danuvian Limes without proper payment. (You can only pause/rewind so many times before it gets tedious.) Suggestions: *1: Keep the date (or date range of events/wars) on screen at all times. 2: Beside each ruler/general's face on screen, put a symbol/flag/abbreviation* to signify their nation or empire. The viewer does not retain these facts when you only flash them when you introduce them. However: great video! Keep 'em coming. :^)
Hands down the Achaemenid Empire. The Sassanids, Parthians, Medians and other empires did impeccably, but most of them (except Median ofcourse) derived the method of governing and acting from the Achaemenids. Well, I disagree that the Sassanids destroyed themselves moreso than that basic human greed and distrust from the people did. The govt. of the Sassnid Empire have actually been much more stable and competent than any other nations of their time. You can't control monetary losses due to people drifting away from their policies, or lunatic mass-murderers from carrying out their violent whims.
I still believe Persian Empires still do things best, despite their inevitable fall. And firstly that comes from investing more in consolidating your culture and customs and forms of thinkings (Iranians) than investing in violence or violent control of people (Greeks, Arabs, Mongols, etc.)
This is why after 2550 years, Iranians are still Iranian, practing an Iranian thought process, and practicing Iranian culture, on Iranian soil. The same cannot be said for its past enemies.

Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy.

Ancient Hoplite Parsa means noble in Persian. It's a different word than Pars (Tho might share the same origin becuz they sound really similar) which means Persis or you could say Persia( I don't think there is any equivalent for Persia in the Persian language since such terms were never used.)

Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy.
Allah said in Surah Al-Ikhlas : In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
Say, “He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him.” (1-4 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah said in Surah An-Nisa : O FOLLOWERS of the Gospel! Do not overstep the bounds [of truth] in your religious beliefs, and do not say of God anything but the truth. But as for him who denies the truth of God's messages - behold, God is swift in reckoning!
Thus, [O Prophet,] if they argue with thee, say, "I have surrendered my whole being unto God, and [so have] all who follow me!" - and ask those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime, as well as all unlettered people, "Have you [too] surrendered yourselves unto Him?" And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His creatures.
Verily, as for those who deny the truth of God's messages, and slay the prophets against all right, and slay people who enjoin equity - announce unto them a grievous chastisement.
It is they whose works shall come to nought both in this world and in the life to come; and they shall have none to succour them.

Iran has always been a strong nation, ever since descending from Scythia Aryas upon Elam, founding Eran. Iran was able to have its own independent revolution and make a Republic, but unfortunately British oilmen didn't want to lose their source of fortune so they told the US that Iran was underthreat of a communist revolution so for the first time the US enacted a regime change outside of wartime based on a lie and they set up a puppet dictatorship. One extreme begat a polar opposite extreme and opportunistic tyrants took control on the basis of anti-western fundamentalism. It is my hope that Iran can undergo another independent revolution and return to the republicanism that they once established themselves and go back to being the shining light of the near east. 1:30 slight correction, the Parthians were hardly Greco Persian. It was slight posturing for trade purposes. They were thoroughly Iranian in custom and NOT seen as foreigners by their contemporaries or successors
They were not Persians they were merely Iranians, a lot of people were Iranians but because they weren't persians they were technically foreigners to the throne that belonged to the persians. And that's what he means, as back then there was very little notion of all Indo-Iranians being called Iranians. Medians, Scythians, , kurds, balochi, pashtun are all Iranian too yet they aren't Persian
@@arifahmedkhan9999 This may be partially true but it’s important to remember there was a distinction made for “Aryans” since the time of Achaemenids. Darius says he’s a Persian yes, he also notes he’s an Aryan. Herodotus (he has issues don’t get me wrong) there wasn’t much difference between Medes, Persians, Parthians and otherwise. Saying the Parthians were foreign is like saying the Qing dynasty is foreign to China or even better the Seljuks are foreign to Iran. There needs to be a better way of articulating someone who is not a usual member of ruling class but not entirely alien to the culture or country.

That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy.
Allah said in Surah Al-Ikhlas : In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
Say, “He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him.” (1-4 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah said in Surah An-Nisa : O FOLLOWERS of the Gospel! Do not overstep the bounds [of truth] in your religious beliefs, and do not say of God anything but the truth. The Christ Jesus, son of Mary, was but God's Apostle - [the fulfilment of] His promise which He had conveyed unto Mary - and a soul created by Him. Believe, then, in God and His apostles, and do not say, "[God is] a trinity". Desist [from this assertion] for your own good. God is but One God; utterly remote is He, in His glory, from having a son: unto Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth; and none is as worthy of trust as God. Never did the Christ feel too proud to be God's servant, nor do the angels who are near unto Him. And those who feel too proud to serve Him and glory in their arrogance [should know that on Judgment Day] He will gather them all unto Himself: (171-172 / Translated by Muhammad Asad).
Allah the Most Merciful said in Surah Ali-Imran : Behold, the only [true] religion in the sight of God is [man's] self-surrender unto Him; and those who were vouchsafed revelation aforetime took, out of mutual jealousy, to divergent views [on this point] only after knowledge [thereof] had come unto them. But as for him who denies the truth of God's messages - behold, God is swift in reckoning!
Thus, [O Prophet,] if they argue with thee, say, "I have surrendered my whole being unto God, and [so have] all who follow me!" - and ask those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime, as well as all unlettered people, "Have you [too] surrendered yourselves unto Him?" And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His creatures.
Verily, as for those who deny the truth of God's messages, and slay the prophets against all right, and slay people who enjoin equity - announce unto them a grievous chastisement.
It is they whose works shall come to nought both in this world and in the life to come; and they shall have none to succour them.

I think 18:30 and on is the most interesting takeaway from this. The future could have been entirely different had Phokas not rebelled and killed Emperor Maurice - who himself would have made an incredibly interesting alternate future for the empire. A Persian and Roman/Greek alliance would have been glorious.
Imagine if that were the case. Iran would likely never have been conquered by Islamic armies. It would have changed so much of the Middle East.
I have always seen this as one of the greatest far reaching decisions ever. Maurikios ordering his soldiers to march along the Danuvian Limes without proper payment. If he had taken a more reasonable decision, and abandoned unneeded lands like Roman Spain to the allied Visigoths, Phokas would not have gained power and Carthage and Spain would have had enough manpower and security to hold off the Muslim Invasions.

Great idea to anchor your vids around the map! But _SO_ much history coming at the viewer. You have no idea how hard it is to keep up. (You can only pause/rewind so many times before it gets tedious.) Suggestions: *1: Keep the date (or date range of events/wars) on screen at all times. 2: Beside each ruler/general's face on screen, put a symbol/flag/abbreviation* to signify their nation or empire. The viewer does not retain these facts when you only flash them when you introduce them. However: great video! Keep 'em coming. :^)

Sassanid Persian empire was the best Persian empire.
Hands down the Achaemenid Empire. The Sassanids, Parthians, Medians and other empires did impeccably, but most of them (except Median ofcourse) derived the method of governing and acting from the Achaemenids. The Achaemenids are quintessentially eternal within Iran's culture because what they did as govts. is continued in modern day Iran's policies, thinking style, acting style, etc. They're truly immortal.

Valerian was kept in bondage and was used by the Persian king as a chair when mounting his horse. At the end of his life, he was stuffed like an animal and the king kept him like a hunting trophy.
Except that this was most probably made up by a contemporary christian historian because christians wanted to say "anti-christian emperors got what they deserved". There is no real record of Valerian being treated harshly, in Iranian records he is shown holding hands of the shah, which shows submission but also he is shown to be forgiven and let live. He and his soldiers were sent to one of the newly created cities and lived there. Roman soldiers and engineers built dams and other public infrastructure. Valerian was probably just kept as a possible future negotiation piece and let live among his roman soldiers
