My sentiments about the Quadrifoglio are the same as the G80 Owner. I test drove one and I cannot get the tightness of the car out of my mind. Everything was tight, firm and precise.
I went from an e92 M3 to a '23 Giulia Quad. And while i miss some things about the M3 (e.g., v8 noise, competition seats, sentimental value, etc), I just adore the Alfa. It is brutally fast, agile as a water bug, sexy as sin, and just plain special to drive. Every trip is an event in that car. Plus, being originally from the tri-state area, I love hearing two accents from my childhood!
Another great point you never see QV even in the densely populated NYC metro areas. You do see an abundance of Stelvios around here because there awesome cars and practical
I mean there's a reason for that. Bmw g8x platform is better in every single perfromace metric (speed, handling, and braking) it has better tech and better interior.

Some years ago i had the pleasure of driving the Alfa QV several times for some months. I drove both the Auto and the Manual and man...just get the 6 speed manual if you want pure pleasure and mechanical attachment to the car. Even the sound is different in the manual when you give those throttle blips...just sweet. Love the car.
2022 Quads are going for around $62k and a 2022 M3C are going for $68-70k depending on options. Now you can get a higher milage 2017 Quad for high $30k/low $40k, but a 17 M3C is about $4-5k higher in price. I test drove a 22 Quad before I bought my G82 M4C and I liked it, but it felt more on par with an M340i power wise. The handling was definitely better than the M340i but acceleration, power etc is much better on the G8* M3/M4C. Both cars have their pluses and minuses so always buy what makes you the happiest. Fit and finish is considerably better on the M3. It's too bad this is the last year for the Quad/Giulia...maybe it'll be a future classic.
@@Peanutdenverdifference being the used QV is equivalent in performance to the new M3Cs, it blows away the same year ones while being as you said 5k less
@@Peanutdenver You gotta be crazy to say the Qadrifoglio felt comparable to m340i powerwise. I test drove a 2023 m340i and a 2024 giulia quad back to back yesterday. I was considering these 2 cars for my next purchase, since price can become comparable in the used market and was initially thinking maybe I'll consider the m340i because of reputation and reliability over the giulia qaud IF the performance felt remotely comparable. In terms of performance they aren't even close to the same level my guy. Tech wise the bmw is also miles ahead. The only reason u would get the afla is u want a good manual and maybe can't afford a g8x
I absolutely LOVE my Giulia Quad!! I’ve owned three M3s ( still own my E92) and there’s just no true comparison. There’s a learning curve because the Italians are bound and determined to not recreate the German experience. However, once you become familiar with it you’ll laugh at the driving dynamics of the others! Especially Audi.
@@autofanaticcars mine is a manual. Hands down the most unreliable car I’ve ever owned 😂😂. I still love her though. It’s just likely to be the last time BMW gets a quarter out of me!
yeah as much as I love those E92 I do know they are money pits to maintain long term and this is why finding a good one if so expensive still with low miles and service history. I still love the cars for their rawness with the V8 something we will never ever see again from BMW
I’m not a Guilia hater, but just like folks hate the g80 front, I do not like the front of the guilia. Not having manual makes it not an option at all for me. I wouldn’t consider the black wing because I again don’t like how it looks and I really don’t like American cars as they feel cheap inside and I’m damn sure not about to pay over msrp. But, yes, these are the only 3 sports sedans worth considering. I love my g80 and will stick to BMW as long as they make manuals!
Its the best saloon in the world, every time I drive mine it gives me a warm glow. Telepathic steering and such a beast, a real wolf in sheeps clothing.
Just passed 30K miles on my Giulia QV! The only issue that I've had was really small. Shifting at the redline at 100+ MPH in race mode caused a CEL to come on three different times. The solenoid on one of the turbos was on the fritz, working, but would knock its self out on a high rev, fast shift once in awhile. The 3 times the CEL went on, the light would turn off before even getting it to the dealer to fix it. The code showed it was the solenoid, but was working fine when they tested it. So the 3rd time, even after testing it showed it was fine, they just changed it under warranty anyway. Since the 1.5 years since replacing the solenoid, there has been no more CEL for anything! Has been perfect and reliable for me! I don't daily drive it though. I only take it to the PA countryside! Took it to the Catskills a few times too!
I test drove a 2022 Giulia QV two weeks ago, I am currently in a 2023 FL5 Type R, which has a great chassis too, but the QV was on a another level. Such a great car, but like the M3 owner says the breaks were hard to get used to. I am sure eventually id get used to it, but definitely came in hot on some corners not expecting the break feel. the G80 M3 manual was bad imo, so rubbery and vague
Thanks for sharing! If you prefer more brake bite a simpler pad swap transform this i have done many on my 18 QV but haven’t gotten around to swapping pads yet on the new one as im considering testing different compounds soon.
I still choose the QV over the M3, the M3 was brute force power , kicks in later but the driving dynamics, nimbleness, and the paddle shifters adds to the whole automotive user experience.
The S58 motor is s monster on top end i cant believe some of the drag race testing I’ve watched but it lacks that special sound because it’s an inline turbo 6
I drive a Stelvio 280cv now, great car but I dream the next one can be a Quadrifoglio... hope I can make it happen! thanks for publishing this chat and comparison. The brakes are just a matter of getting used to, to be fair.
I am also close on pulling the trigger and buying a Giulia QV. Always been an M3 fan, had an F80 and currently have and e92 M3. I will not sell my e92 to buy the QV as I think I will regret it (I am super attached to that shitbox). The main reason I am holding back on buying one is the aftermarket mods (very limited) and the re-sale market. Alfa is unable to move the new ones or 2023, I have even seen brand new 2022 Stelvio QV at the dealer still. They are offering massive discounts in order to move them, so if I decide to re-sell it, not sure how well it will go. But again, all the reviews are exceptional. I think the QV is the biggest hidden gem for car enthusiasts.
the issue is not Alfa it is the entire car market and inflation that makes it hard for people to lease and finance now with rates so high. Cars are sitting as a result and only some brands are offering incentives and low APR like Mazda and a few others. There is quite a big aftermarket for Alfa domestic and abroad so that should not be of any concern. New car resale is down on every model unless it is a limited edition Porsche or Ferrari and exotic everything else is dropping once again because interest rates are so high causing a slow turn over of inventory. Not many buyers who want to pay 8-14% interest on a car note these days so it is a cash buyers market.
This saddens me deeply. I enjoyed and will always miss the giulia qv. I just got the stelvio qv bc of 2 kids now and needed the room with hopes to get a giulia qv in the future. But now with the Giulia qv gone, I will probably get the Maserati gran turismo trofeo in 4 years when my kids can climb in the back seats themselves 😂
I definitely get what the M3 owner is saying about the breaks. I had a Mercedes before my Giulia. The Giulia is a massive step up in all relevant categories except breaking. First time I drove the Giulia it felt less reliable than the CLA but you do get used to it. Besides, you buy a car to drive, not to break. Overall the Giulia is the better car and kts not even close. I also hear the 2023 models and beyond have a better breaking system.
Had a GT350 years ago which is how I came across your channel. Really enjoyed the GT 350 content. Have always wanted a QV but no manual is a no go for me. Currently in an F80 manual as a daily on DWS. I like Them. Keep the content coming!
First time buyer of your products and got all variations.. I’ll test it out on my QV, AMG and Ferrari so far none of the other brands excluding a couple have been up to par.. will test out and I’ll explain each product experience.. enjoy the rides
Some simple mods to improve the QV Specifically choose the bonalume diverter valve and 2 way adjustable blow off plate. 2 Hawk or stop tech brake pads and rotors. 3. K&N intake filters. The bonalume utilizes boost pressure perfectly. It enhances and holds boost longer. Lastly liquid chill coolant additive.
I did the blow off on my AMG GTR didn’t notice much besides sound in between shifts. Im doing Carbotech brake pads soon i like them from my prior QV. I did the Sprint filter which flows the best as i prefer non oiled filters , custom spacers and corsa springs new forged wheels coming soon with wider rubber all around
As a manual QV owner in Europe, I need to admit that the stick and the clutch aren't the best as feeling, but shall I change it for an automatic one? Hell NO! It feels just that special. And the manual ones get extra rpm on the redline (7500 instead 7000 on the automatic) on the 1st 2nd 3rd gear, I didn't test the fourth one, because the speed will be illegal😂
In race mode, the brakes are quality, firm super responsive and little fade. In other modes ,especially at low speed they do feel weird. But when your on it hard, in race, I love them. Super confidence inspiring. The brake by wire system saves a lot of weight also
Yep also brakes feel different depending on type of shoes you wear so crazy but system generates insane psi at the calipers when pressed hard. Mclaren brakes also feel this way it’s by design for track use
I drove a manual Giulia Q (2017) recently, and I liked it. Nothing wrong w the gearing, other than its of course 6 speed, not 8. On par with my Z4M gearbox, so not the greatest maybe but A MANUAL and the one for me. 😊 It also has the modern stuff like auto-blip on downshifts etc, like Porsche’s.
What country are you in i wish i could drive a manual QV. The reason it never came to the USA was because it couldn’t pass the 5 Star crash test the clutch pedal was causing bad injuries to the crash test dummies its also a reason they used a brake by wire system. For Alfa to finally come back to the USA the goal was to have great crash safety to build buyer confidence in the brand.
@@autofanaticcars Sweden. Ok! Strange.. As it has 5 stars in Eurocap test too. I guess at least its not ”unsafe” compared to my 80’s italians 😊 (which some werent that bad appearently)
Saw this same one few days ago.. they initially wanted 5k over sticker for it at first, claiming it was 1 of x in the US in Rosso etna. Honestly think id rather have the analog guages in the '23 and earlier, but the new LED headlights do look nice.
Agree with your comments and I've driven all 3 - G80 M3 manual, Alfa QV, and Cadillac CT4V Blackwing manual. They are all great options. The G80 M3 is an amazing car with great power and cool tech, but that shifter feel is just not good. The fact there are so many of them also makes it less special than the QV for sure, but the BMW community and available aftermarket options are a plus. The QV felt so light and nimble to me, and the engine and sound are amazing. Especially the torque and power down low. Interior and tech are uninspiring in comparison, but that's not a bigger factor for me. Reliability does however remain a concern. The CT4V Blackwing has a better shifter than the M3 without a doubt. Feels heavier in the drive for me but also more solid which I appreciated. The exterior styling and tech both fall short in comparison to the M3 but the power, shifter feel, and chassis are really good. Biggest negative to the CT4V is that it's a Cadillac.
I completely agree and thanks for posting your feedback on all 3. Another thing regarding the Blackwing is there is such limited aftermarket support to do much on those cars. I think for the money the Camaro ZL1 is better choice and way more fun if you don’t need 4 doors. If BMW could make a 6 speed feel like a Tremec i think the M2 would be in my garage as well as a fun car
I wanted to love the Alfa as I loved the looks. The test drive sealed the deal for me when the car died on Harbor Blvd and we had to have the dealership send another car to fetch us and tow it back. the salesmen said it needed a software update that was missed in PDI. No thanks, first impressions.
They don’t have confidence in cold bite compared to any German car they are tough to get use to them if you never driven one of these before. You need to use more leg pressure than most cars the ibs is tuned like this on purpose for tracking same with most Ferrari models and all Mclaren today
@@autofanaticcarsmine have the carbon ceramic brakes and they might have been tuned by the dealer since the owner drove my car for 8k miles as a “demonstrator”. Nevertheless the less they are AMAZING!!! Both in performance and feel
Did You forget to mention to your buddy: Brake-by-Wire ? :) These cars looks great on side by side. I like them both I always wanted to buy a BMW but i always had at least one Alfa ...
I guess it would be quicker than a manual m3 but not so much on the x drive competition model. I drive a 50th anniversary g80 and love it. I will say I haven’t driven the Alfa but then again, I don’t need to.
Nice video. I’ve been thinking of pulling the trigger on a 2024 and spec it with the bucket seats, but I don’t wanna take the depreciation hit. Would you recommend waiting a bit till they come down on price. Some 2023’s left over going on the 70k’s.
Unfortunately, Alfa Romeo has not achieved the same commercial success as BMW, but it is still a cult brand that is respected by everyone; they rarely but accurately make cars that immediately become iconic.
Interesting comparative perspective with a different driver. Some of what was said in the video makes it seem like the QV is quicker, but on paper aren’t they about the same? Maybe the feel getting up to speed is different? Would love to test drive a G80 myself to see myself.
Shark Tank - It's an automatic and for that reason I'm out. It's funny to watch a manual car owner drive an automatic. Ya gotta hit the paddle. NOw up shift. Looked like a fish out of water. The Alpha is a great car. Not something I would buy. Love my 2022 G80 6MT BSM with the sun roof!!! Enjoyed the video and thanks for keeping us entertained while the weather SUCKS!
The breaks don’t suck. I actually think they’re great, the break feel sucks, the calibration of the break by wire is annoying, but the breaks themselves are excellent.
Got a 2019 QV myself, phenomenal car. Did he drive it in dynamic mode the whole time? Race mode would be a proper comparison, completely different car! Love the vids
true Italian cars like to kill you at times but the tire switch I made to the Continental DWS06 Plus gives the QV so much more grip and safety in wet and colder temps than the Corsa tires which are dangerous below 50F temps
I actually wanted to buy a Giulia QV but there is so few alfa approved dealerships in Canada (you can't buy or repair them in any Chrysler Dealer up here) that it became a real issue when looking at the service coverage. I'd have to drive 200+km for an oil change or to get it fixed. Went with a G87 M2 instead. I love my M2 but I have a weak spot for this italian sports sedan :P
Yeah in that regard if you can’t get service it could be a disaster if you needed it the new M2 is cool im modifying one next week and il be doing a review on it for the channel
@@autofanaticcars very cool! Indeed, it’s a shame because it was the last chance for me to get a new Giulia QV ever probably but hey.! It’s like that nowadays, the true driver’s car are all being discontinued !! I hope you appreciate the M2! I test drove an M4 before but my main concern was the length and perceived size. The M2 partly solved the issue being shorter but it’s still a grand tourer hiding in a sports coupe shape haha cheers !
Exactly it takes time to get used to it even my AMG GTR has very grabby reactive CCB brakes and I sometimes over brake if I drive the QV prior because leg pressure is so different between cars
I’ve had my ‘21 Giulia QV for like 2 months now. I am still getting used to it. But I went for a ride in a G80 M4 Competition recently… First impression: Acceleration is very very similar between the 2 cars but Oh My God the engine sound…!!! In the G80 is just flat and dull…. not what I’d expect from a super sedan. I wouldn’t say that the brakes on the Giulia QV are terrible you just need to get used to them. I had to do a couple of emergency braking and they didn’t let me down or made me feel insecure about the braking…. Great video… good comparison between the two cars 👌
@@autofanaticcars this is surprising to hear because i have had BMWs all my life up until now and i find the QV braking to be very sensitive and touchy in comparison
Great video! I recently bought a new 2023 QV and I’m extremely impressed and enjoy the car. Quick question…. What tire pressures are you running? The door placard says 35F/38R but the owners manual says 35F/32R. And on the Giulia Forum nobody has a clear answer just speculation. Thanks
That’s what I thought. I’m running the higher numbers. Funny that the car left the dealership with 4 different tire pressures…. Lol It’s amazing how little these dealerships care.
I am sorry but the Giulia has the best brakes of its class, and this extends to all versions, even got the record of shortest braking at 100km/h. One might not like the feel, I do, but saying they are not goo,,, Well that is not correct. M3 are nothing compared to this car, the engineering alone if on a completely different level. Remember that this car was designed from the ground up by the same man and team that created the 458. Another thing is that every model shows this, every model has the same preparation to be a 300km/h plus car, either it has the engine for it or not. Series 3 has to be seriously modified to take the M3 power, and still is nothing compared to the Alfa. All and all, the Giulia is the best car in the world since it was launched, and that is the truth.
The QV is still the benchmark I agree which is why i bought 4 of them so far over last 6 years. It may lack modern technology features that the Germans might offer and lack build quality but the engineering is tops
@@autofanaticcars Thank you for your reply, Yes I agree, Though for me as a driver, I wish to drive and to have pleasure while doing it, my 2018 Manual Giulia is a car to be driven, not a PlayStation with wheels. I intent to buy another manual, that though slower, is like a Supercar car of the 60's, pure and uncompromised.
For you subjectively it is the best car in the world, and I respect that, but objectively M3 G80 simply wipes the floor with Giulia. It is significantly faster car in a drag race, it is faster on the track, and the S58 is engineering masterpiece that can reliably handle 1000 hp! Try that with Giulia V6?! Also, the tech and material quality are far superior in the M3. Everything else is subjective, going from the looks, sound, feel etc.
they definitely have considering how light the G80 steering is now compared to the prior F80. I still think the G80 steering is a bit too light for such a big heavy car and on my M3 I even did the spherical caster bushings and custom alignment but it did not do much except make it more twitchy and lighter. I prefer the steering of the Alfa a lot more it feels sharper and more properly weighted for the cars size.
The BMW is also brake by wire but it is programmed very differently and the M3 front calipers are larger and stiffer than the Alfa which does affect feel
He was only driving the Dynamic the whole time? I feel driving in Race would have made the car more compelling as a comparison having the car in its most performance mode. Would have made the throttle response even more aggressive and I swear on my Stelvio Quad the different modes also make the brakes more sensitive- so Race might have made less complaints about the brakes feeling underwhelming? Every review I have seen on a Quad also has said they brakes feel too grabby, I have never heard the brakes in the Quad be described as underwhelming. I have gigantic ceramics on mine, so they have insane stopping power. I feel any car with 500+ HP and this much weight should be specced out with the best brake option possible. Everyone seems like they want more power but not caring about being in control of the power with the best brakes possible
When you did the exhaust on the F355, did you have to reuse the flanges and some of the bolts that have springs? I just bought a Kline for my 355 F1, and Kline said that I have to reuse those parts and most of them broke.
Almost went for a blackwing also, but there is just something special about the Alfa. The latest iDrive in the G80 just turns me off of the car. Great car also but the interior styling with that massive screen, just can’t do it. Love the simplicity of the Alfa, but still has all the useful features.
The G80 is 4,000 lbs, that hardly fits the sports car description. These are incredibly high performance cars, where the Quadrifoglio has more sports car DNA in my opinion.
@@autofanaticcars I hear you, your take on cars is a lot more precise/experienced than your friend 😆. Quadrifoglio's weight has been confusing since day one, they aren't light either, but feels light and nimble vs the G80. I remember you saying you're going the 992 GTS route, still doing that?
Surprised to hear considering how awful the dealership network is. I still say the root cause of all problems are dealerships inflicted by poor technicians with zero training.
Guys ripping through a residential area with people out walking. One of the walksers throws his arm in disgust and the driver gets pissy about it. Interesting.

Alfa was one of the very first to use the Continental IBS brake by wire system and thats why pedal feels weird at first. The BMW also uses this technology but they seem to have programmed it to feel more natural. Even the C8 vette uses this system and first production had lots of complaints but GM seems to have figured out the programming
What's your experience with the reliability of the Alfa? I've heard it's hit or miss. That said, don't know if the M3 has many issues. After the warranty expires that's when it's not just the inconvenience but $. (BTW I grew up with my parents having a 1991 Alfa 164L that I convinced them to buy. Loved that car and never had any issues until about 85K miles when the AC went)
Earlier Alfas were hit or miss i have hundreds of videos on this channel of my 2018 and others.BMW all have so much tech and electronics issues are common. My 23 G80 M3 had a check engine light on for 6 months and several dealers couldn’t fix it which wasn’t confident inspiring
Did your friend consider getting a BMW individual paint? And do they even offer that on Alfas? Thinking of getting the M3 in british racing green but BMW wants $6k, not sure it is worth it and if you get anything for it when you sell
On looks alone, Alfa all the way. The BMW looks bloody awful. On performance it’s another win for the Alfa too. BMW really have lost the way (and I’ve run BMWs for years).
BMW definitely not garbage based on build and engineering but just different, heavier, not as sexy and way overloaded with tech most drivers do not need.
He Dosent know how to drive maybe he thinks cuz hes older and he had experience but why not listen to the owner when he said downshift ; he said that because your at rev match speed and the car in front would make sense why u should slow down for the downshift but he sped up 🤣!! Oh I don’t know how to drive.. ok buddy. You know me so well. I’ve had multiple manual cars as well as motorcycles. My first time driving a QV. I’m used to shifting manually with a clutch. Very different gearing. Not sure why people feel the need to criticize on social media.
Sorry, guys, this is beyond ridiculous. Driving through the city the entire time you cannot seriously assess the Quadrifoglio. Just give it a blast outside of a city and switch to R mode, the you can talk.
you are welcome to donate your brand new $93k car to someone with no experience driving it and put them in Race mode and see how that turns out. We shot this on the cuff during a busy Saturday the highways were a congested parking lot everywhere that day we are in the NYC area and just took a leisurely cruise.
@@autofanaticcars: The Giulia in Dynamics drives like crap because it cuts off the power under 4,5 revs. This dude did not get a hunch how the Giulia really drives. It is some jibber-jabber. 😊
Heart says Alfa, brain M3. BMW will loose less value comparing to Alfa plus service support is better for BMW as far as i know. But damn that alfa is a beauty if interior is better I would go for Alfa
The issue with the G80 series is that the steering is deader than a beached whale. And it is sticky. Add to that the mushy brakes, and you wonder what BMW was thinking. I'm trading mine soon for a Cayman GTS. The Giulia is no doubt more of a tactile car, but they are simply not reliable enough to justify as a daily driver. And just need to add that Porsche has the best brake feel in the business. Not the VW Macan, but the real porsches. I also have a new GT3, and let me tell you, please drive one. Your commentary on this vid would forever be altered. Complete frame-of-reference change,
yes the G80 steering BMW took a polar opposite direction from the mega stiff vague and heavy feel of F80 M3. I think they were trying to make it feel like the Giulia but with the different style front geometry it does not feel anywhere near as sharp and tactile. It is a great car overall but if you own and have driven other and better performance cars then you start to nit pick the G80 quite a bit which is why you see so many for sale with very low miles as the fun factor seems to wear off quickly for most, it did for me. I have driven the new GT3 Touring and standard versions and they are amazing but the only caveat is they are $300k and not attainable for most. The new Alfas are pretty reliable the earlier cars were a gamble for most.
The manual isn’t the greatest yes. The competition is definitely quicker especially around town. But the g80 manual is very fast on the highway. The manual does hold it back but more fun
@autofanaticcars 100% I seen a manual g80 lose to a stock supra terrible gearing in them.. I've driven the alfa also great car both the g80 and the alfa would be my favourite definitely better then the c63s

My 23 just suffered bad battery so i replaced with an interstate. Lots of issues on the Alfas come from bad batteries
I have a QV in Montreal green (as shown on my channel) and definitely is my favorite car on my garage. It ticks the most boxes in my mind.
Just got a monte carlo blue Quadrifoglio last week,..love it...truly a great car,..Haven't touched my other 2 cars since picking it up
Alfa Giulia 🍀 is unique! Just drive it and You will see the difference. And It is Beautiful
I totally agree!
I’ll take the Alfa Romero any day of the week it’s a better looking vehicle and my dream car 🚗
Still such an incredible car that does everything right
Sorry, I had to. It's annoying to Alfa enthusiasts. It's Romeo.
-slow down …. “I got it don’t worry”😂
i would have the same reaction too by seeing how the driver drives haha
I like
Them. Keep the content coming!
I miss daily driving my GT350 years ago. I might pick up another one day
I came for the GT350 and ended up getting a GT350R which I am never selling and a Guilia QV and I am so happy with both my gems
we have manual QVs
Thanks guys I've made my choice Alfa all the way.
First time buyer of your products and got all variations.. I’ll test it out on my QV, AMG and Ferrari so far none of the other brands excluding a couple have been up to par.. will test out and I’ll explain each product experience.. enjoy the rides
Your gonna really like them 👍
Great video comparing the two special cars….and a great tour of BRONXVILLE, EASTCHESTER, TUCKAHOE and parts of YONKERS!!!!….
Interesting comparison between the Giulia QV and the M3.
The Giulia QV: better sound and more fun to drive than the G80.
Some simple mods to improve the QV
Specifically choose the bonalume diverter valve and 2 way adjustable blow off plate.
@autofanaticcars shut off the bov and use it as a diverter valve. I find the car holds boost much better. The rest... Kool.
That's a very humble BMW driver, I was expecting some faster driving but those roads didn't help!
Busy Saturday afternoon in the NYC area was tough to open her up fully but next time
The way they talk kinda gave me a Mobb flick vibe lol Great vid guys
we are Italians!
Okok I see makes sense man
Hahah thank you! Not everyone shares your sentiment
9:50 ”make a right here” points to the left 😅
@@autofanaticcars yea 2000 psi I believe
yes i used my caliper gauge on my 2018 and it was 1800+ PSI which is much higher than most conventional hydraulic systems.
Alfa Romeo Giulia 🍀❤
One thing that has always spun me out about driving in north America...
... traffic lights.
Traffic lights..... EVERYWHERE!
It drives me insane.
Yeah city driving has lots of stop and go
Literally just came back from Westbury Alfa looking for a car for my daughter lol. Had a red QV in the showroom that was gorgeous, great video AF!
Buy it for yourself
May have to-she’s looking at an A4 lol@@autofanaticcars
So… if your daughter drives a Giulia, you drive a.. Koenigsegg..?
No. I didn’t like the steering in it, so I’ll stick with my 1982 911 😉@@pereldh5741
Honestly my e39 540i with the M5 shifter has a better feel and shorter throws than the G80. Thanks again for all of your content!
I wanted to love the Alfa as I loved the looks. The test drive sealed the deal for me when the car died on Harbor Blvd and we had to have the dealership send another car to fetch us and tow it back. the salesmen said it needed a software update that was missed in PDI. No thanks, first impressions.
The brakes do not suck. Jesus, dude. They're just different.
They don’t have confidence in cold bite compared to any German car they are tough to get use to them if you never driven one of these before. You need to use more leg pressure than most cars the ibs is tuned like this on purpose for tracking same with most Ferrari models and all Mclaren today
@autofanaticcars I hear you. He just said they suck SO many times. I got used to them quickly, I just don't get it.
Exactly!!!
@@autofanaticcarsmine have the carbon ceramic brakes and they might have been tuned by the dealer since the owner drove my car for 8k miles as a “demonstrator”. Nevertheless the less they are AMAZING!!! Both in performance and feel
Ok relax buddy. That was just my observation
Did You forget to mention to your buddy: Brake-by-Wire ? :)
These cars looks great on side by side. I like them both I always wanted to buy a BMW but i always had at least one Alfa ...
The BMW G80 is also brake by wire however the programming makes it feel very conventional
@@autofanaticcars aww thanks
Good news. Im this case your buddy's reaction really acceptable
In D mode you'll get prefill brakes. Also other brake pads can make a world of difference.
Yes i did a bunch of videos on testing brake pads over the years on my 2018 QV I do plan on trying new pads soon on my new one
@@autofanaticcars Nice I'll have a look. I own a Mercedes at the moment. The pads are very very soft. Ventilated discs.
Go for it! Lifes too short to wait
@@autofanaticcars lol thanks!
Unfortunately, Alfa Romeo has not achieved the same commercial success as BMW, but it is still a cult brand that is respected by everyone; they rarely but accurately make cars that immediately become iconic.
My Quadrifoglio has carbon ceramic brakes and I have had no issues with brake pedal feel!
Interesting comparative perspective with a different driver. Some of what was said in the video makes it seem like the QV is quicker, but on paper aren’t they about the same? Maybe the feel getting up to speed is different? Would love to test drive a G80 myself to see myself.
The « base » M3 G80 weighs more and have less power (35 hp less ?)
The G80 M3 competition would have same power but more weight I believe!
Rolled up right next to an M3 earlier at a light, small world.
This M3?
nah just one local to me, got me thinking of how that driver would feel in my Quadrifoglio@@autofanaticcars
I love my quadriflgio. One of my friends tried it in the ct4v blackwing and failed miserably, And everywhere.
D mode I didn’t want to risk my car flying off the road in Race in colder temperatures
@@autofanaticcars can confirm even not cold temps, the back will KICK out be careful haha
true Italian cars like to kill you at times but the tire switch I made to the Continental DWS06 Plus gives the QV so much more grip and safety in wet and colder temps than the Corsa tires which are dangerous below 50F temps
The brakes have a different setup. They are more track focused and need more leg pressure..
Exactly it takes time to get used to it even my AMG GTR has very grabby reactive CCB brakes and I sometimes over brake if I drive the QV prior because leg pressure is so different between cars
Eastchester New York ! I work there lol
Yep the brakes on the Alfa are extremely powerful you just need to use more leg force
@@autofanaticcars this is surprising to hear because i have had BMWs all my life up until now and i find the QV braking to be very sensitive and touchy in comparison
its funny you can drive 4 identical QV back to back and all 4 will feel different in brake feel no idea why
I drove both...both good but not big enough for me, I own F10 M5 facelift
Great video! I recently bought a new 2023 QV and I’m extremely impressed and enjoy the car.
Quick question…. What tire pressures are you running? The door placard says 35F/38R but the owners manual says 35F/32R. And on the Giulia Forum nobody has a clear answer just speculation.
Thanks
Run the higher psi the suspension calibration totally different than the earlier ones they obviously never updated the manual to reprint
That’s what I thought. I’m running the higher numbers. Funny that the car left the dealership with 4 different tire pressures…. Lol
It’s amazing how little these dealerships care.
After 2min of conversation I just realised it's not about a Genesis g80.... :D
The Alfa Romeo is Awesome 👌 BMW boring 😴 to many German cars on the roads, the sound of that Alfa OMG Amazing 👏
G80 took a lot of notes from QV & it shows.
they definitely have considering how light the G80 steering is now compared to the prior F80.
Since the brakes are electric, it's just numb and no feel. You just need to know how much brake inputs to press.
Loool proper BMW boy that’s talking shit
When you have carbon ceramics it feels completely different to the steel in the 2023 now!
Alfa stopped offering CCB brakes in early 2020 you can not get them anymore along with many options in the USA
This one or C63 Coupe? (w205). How do they compare. I want both but can barely afford one...aaah help xD
When you did the exhaust on the F355, did you have to reuse the flanges and some of the bolts that have springs? I just bought a Kline for my 355 F1, and Kline said that I have to reuse those parts and most of them broke.
never waste time reusing old hardware buy every single piece new always including the lead donuts
Thank you. Just wasn't sure if you have to buy extra parts or if the new system is supposed to come with everything.
Great review especially hearing it from a G80 owner. Thanks for this!!!
Thanks for watching!
Almost went for a blackwing also, but there is just something special about the Alfa. The latest iDrive in the G80 just turns me off of the car. Great car also but the interior styling with that massive screen, just can’t do it. Love the simplicity of the Alfa, but still has all the useful features.
Thanks for sharing!
Excellent video

How is the annual maintenance meaning , approx price yearly is?
Two oil changes i do myself is nothing.
The G80 is 4,000 lbs, that hardly fits the sports car description. These are incredibly high performance cars, where the Quadrifoglio has more sports car DNA in my opinion.
G80 is heavy but so is a Blackwing, new M2, any Audi RS as well. On my title my QV weight is listed at 3753lbs my 2018 was 3630
@@autofanaticcars I hear you, your take on cars is a lot more precise/experienced than your friend 😆. Quadrifoglio's weight has been confusing since day one, they aren't light either, but feels light and nimble vs the G80.

Surprised to hear considering how awful the dealership network is. I still say the root cause of all problems are dealerships inflicted by poor technicians with zero training.

I expected a bit of backroad driving, some nice bends and such, but oh well...
Still too cold out for any spirited fun drives plus lots of salt and snow on roads from thawing out. Few more weeks Spring will come
Wonder why the brakes are so bad, they are brembos no? Is it the compound are they dewigned for more heat?

That BMW is such garbage next to that beautiful Italian monster. 😍

The new Alfas are pretty reliable the earlier cars were a gamble for most.
your friend seems not to know how to drive in M mode that well...
His very first time in an Alfa product it does take a bit to get used to coming from the G80
It’s my first time driving a QV, what do you expect
G80 xdrive game over
Exactly 😂
Yeah but automatic M3 is boring. Faster but not as fun
The auto g80 is quicker the manual has shit gearing
Yeah the M3 manual feels like it lacks grunt during most daily city driving but your right it’s definitely the gearing affecting this
The manual isn’t the greatest yes.
