I'm damn proud of the Czech Republic for being able to produce aircraft that make pilots around the world happy. I had the privilege to fly this plane and the controls are like a video game!
I'm flying this in DCS world with VR and its an awesome plane. So far it looks like its gonna be very similar. I look for videos like this to practice flying DCS aircraft. Now I wanna fly the real thing.
Loved this video!!! I personally would love to watch all 100% of your training unedited as well as this voiceover / edited / music version. I’m dying to see part II and part III. Please continue to share this awesome content and training with us wannabes!.
Thanks Timothy! I will get the other parts out, I just can't say when. And the unedited versions might be a good idea too - those are usually less editing work. I might put those on my other channel: th-cam.com/users/chrislamprecht
I have the (virtual) aircraft both in DCS and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This is one sweet flying little jet. My favorite plane. The flight model in DCS is probably a bit more accurate, but MSFS is starting to catch up. Not sure the light buffet is modeled, but the heavy one certainly is. A lot of this video is very familiar. . . Good luck with your training - doing great.
Got to fly in one if these about 19yrs ago. Guy had one at the local airport I worked at while in high school. He had a twin turbine powered commander also. I detailed his planes for him twice a year. Last time I detailed his L39 for a ride in it. Worth every bit of 14hrs of washing & waxing.... the top gun scene got a good laugh btw lol.
I just happened to come across you channel from another aviation channel and immediately was blown away when you mentioned Rockford! I live here in Rockford about 15 minutes away from KRFD and drive by there regularly to get to my inlaws. Always wondered who is flying the jets and now I know! My kids and I love to see it when we happen to catch you up!
Wow only 248 subs? I have a feeling that is about to shoot up! EXCELLENT filming and editing. I can't wait to watch all of these, I'm in love with the albatross!
I just subscribed and loving your L39 training. I just finished part 1 and look forward to part 2 and beyond. Thank you for posting your L39 training. Very inspiring👍👍
Great video, enjoy the adventure. Your instructor seems superb. Look forward to the next instalment. Remember, Jets fly on 2 gauges. Airspeed and fuel! 😎😂
I subscribed because we are both BT er's I was flying a DA 50EX and my FO was a a L39 check airmen out of KVNYS he took me for aride in it it was a hoot!
Great video - I've spoken with these guys at Code ! and definitely plan on getting out for the type rating and maybe buying one for fun. Instruction quality was solid, good affirmative transfer of control, good explanation of what to look and feel for. Solid hop.
It's still on my list, but yeah it's taken longer than I expected! In the meantime, I can give you two videos of some of my flying, made by others who are better at making videos than me! th-cam.com/video/usYI1IgqWi8/w-d-xo.html by SoCalFlyingMonkey is great, and th-cam.com/video/RpSTCJiLMN4/w-d-xo.html by Just Plane Silly is about a recent formation flight we did.
Thanks. I have the rest of my training recorded, and some other flights too (including formation flights). As soon as I find the time to edit them together, I will put more out. Sorry it's taking so long...
Very good film. You do and i dream about it!!!!! It's very nice for a lot of people who cannot affort this! On this way we dreampilots can enjoy the training for the L39 type rating. Thank you! Please stop the music, i like the real sound only!!!
great work on the video, and I'm looking forward to the series. I'm flying an L-39 next month out of Traverse City, Michigan, and am trying to sort out how to record audio and video. Could you share some details on the cameras used, mounting methods, and how you captured the cockpit audio? I'm especially interested in the external camera. thanks!!
Thanks... I'll be in Traverse City the weekend before Oshkosh. Lots of details on the cameras & audio.. can you contact me at my email address in the About section of my channel and I'll send you the details or get on the phone with you. The short version is for audio I use a cable that plugs into the plane and the other end is a 1/8" headphone jack that goes into an old iPhone that has a headphone jack, and I use the app Voice Record Pro. GoPro audio is just too unreliable, and if the camera overheats, you lose audio, etc. The external cam is a GoPro Max with a certain mount and a cage, all metal, no plastic.
Hello there! Love your videos. Looks like you're living my dream. Were you a civilian before? Or, are you an airforce pilot? Can a civilian get the fighter jet license? Please inform me. Thanks.
Hi Mehbubul, I am a civilian and I have never been in the Air Force or other military. In the US, a civilian can fly jet warbird aircraft like the L-39 with a pilot's license and 1000 hours of total flight time.
@@speedbrake no worries.. just found your channel and was going through the videos. the l39 is one of my favorite air craft next to the f16, viggen, gripen, eurofighter and p47. i even have a turine rc l39 that i love to fly and fly as uch as possible on the weekends. so these videos of your l39 is very awesome
Hi William, I haven't given up yet on finishing the series, I just need a chunk of time to edit the next video. I'm not a pro editor, so it takes me at least a month to put one together.
Oxygen is required when the cabin pressure is above 12,500 feet for more than 30 minutes, or more than 14,000 feet for any duration. However, the L-39 cabin is pressurized, so for example, at 22,000 feet, the cabin pressure is 12,300 feet. So in the L-39, you usually only need oxygen if you're going to 23,000 feet or higher. Oxygen requirements are covered by the FAA regulations in 14 CFR § 91.211 (for private flights), see www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/14/91.211 For military pilots, especially fighter pilots, there may be other reasons to wear oxygen even at lower altitudes, such as increased performance under high G maneuvers, etc. Maybe a military pilot can answer this part.
I would love to invite the instructor to a challenge of how to play a song on the drumset. He would be dumb in two seconds. How I would enjoy him spending shit loads of money Trying to be a musician. 🎉 We are all hotshits in our individual realms of reality.
Awesome! Thanks for the detailed brief!

Excellent training video. Briefing and checklists were great.
This is exactly what I want to do. Keep up the good and informational videos.
Will we ever see part 2? 😂
It's one of life's great mysteries. But I will try.
Amazing ! Thanks for posting
Awesome video! Flying and L-39 is on my bucket list after my buddy John Naugle flew / rode in one.

Are most flight instructors like this on the ground? Seems like an amazing instructor.
He's a former Air Force instructor pilot, and in my experience, those guys are all very good at flight training.
This is great....now I want to do that sort of training.... gotta get that flight time and Instrument rating!
Greeeat video... Thank you so mutch
I love it. Amazing video!!!... as Mike Myers would say...”Good work my friend”.

So civilians can fly this jet, How much does training cost? What licenses do you need?
What was the most terrifying part?
The fuel bill
@@speedbrake Good one. LOL

East German emblem. badass!

hey bro may i know how much u paid for it & how long until we get license?
Current prices look like $325k to $635k, there are some current listings at www.code1aviation.com/aircraft-listings-for-sale
To get your rating in the L-39 (in the US) you need 1000 hours total flight time first, then it can take a few days to a week or two for the training
What a fantastic experience!
What's the hourly cost?
At cruise speeds it burns about 150 gallons per hour of jet fuel, so at current prices about $800-1000 per hour for fuel.
Was this series abandoned?

Don't you have to wear a mask on your helmet for Oxygen?
Like other jet Pilots do?
Oxygen is required when the cabin pressure is above 12,500 feet for more than 30 minutes, or more than 14,000 feet for any duration.
